Hello,
We have no lanyard hole in the Nexus S.
Any ideas how to attach it?
Did anyone found a case with lanyard?
What do you think about clingo? (sorry, I'm new and can't a link. Just google "Clingo universal mobile neklit") It doesn't seem to be very secure.
No idea. I don't think I've had a lanyard hole on a phone in several years....
Sent from my Ideos S7 using XDA App
try looping it through the speaker holes in the back cover? just hope it doesnt go flying off lol. otherwise im sure you can modify any case.
Did someboby found an lanyards case?
Something like lanskin . com for IPhone (sorry I can't post links so far) but for Nexus S.
Mark.
oops and I thought the speaker hole was the lanyard tether point ! I suspect the back will pop off at some point if used for that purpose
It looks like there is a lanyard hole in the back of this trident case.
http://www.tridentcase.com/product_52_67.html
Sorry, I still can't send links.
Search on YouTube "Trident Cyclops for Google Nexus S"
It says that screen protection do not work well with curve screen :-(
Any other ideas?

No one seems to mention how horrible and inconvenient the xda case is. The xda was bad, because you had to open it to answer the phone, but the xda II is awful as it opens from the top, and when you use it not only do you have to open it, you've also got a horrible case flapping around all over the place. Lucky I'm not trying to look cool with my new phone!
No, seriously, has anyone found a better case? I want one that doesn't have to be opened to use the phone, but also protects the thing properly, as I've just had a bad experience with my old xda (apparently) getting irreparably damaged without me even noticing...
Thanks
I'm waiting for an i-Volution case from Vaja ; I had one for my XDA1 , and it was absolutely perfect !
I still use the "Rugged" Krussel case i used for my XDA. Works pretty good.

The Aluminum one is on my christmas list.
Hmm.. one you don't have to open. I like that idea.
-arebelspy
looking cool
to be really ice cold cool.
don't have phone, pda or credit cards.
Let you manservant carry those..
Thanks for the suggestions. Wheere does the aluminium one come from?
I think I'll wait until I've finally decided I like the xda II and wouldn't rather sell it, and then I'll cut holes in the original leather case! Very distressing to find I can't turn the phone off using the red button, though...
Check this case out, makes it easy to use bluetooth.
http://www.ebcases.com/Detail.bok/c0a80196f94c4dc35437?&category=O2-XDA&start=1&total=16&no=180
Would the Aluminum case hinder reception? I would think so if it covers the antenna area of the XDAII/iMate
And why no lanyard loop? I added a lanyard to my XDA ant this was quite helpful in keeping me from dropping it.

Hi I am currently awaiting delivery for my DHD (and it could be a week or two).
I am wondering if anyone who owns a Silicone case - or something similar, and has found a case that allows for the phone to sit flat on a table surface to allow for one handed use. With the camera design set out from the main body I am hoping the case would come up to this level preventing rocking action.
Does the phone rock around on a table when used without a case or is it bearable?
I will then add a screen protector perhaps a Zagg product or similar.
Any ideas?
Cheers
Si
mine is currently cases-less, and does rock around when it on the table. however, placing a little phone sock under the phone is good at reducing the rocking, but i cant find one big enough to fit the phone in yet.
still looking for a good case, but it seems 3rd parties are being slow with this phone.
I'm needing a case or something like a bumper for my DHD.
I've had it 3 weeks and dropped it twice on to hard surfaces, got 2 small scratches and a small dent at the power button (since the button was flush with the case to start with, its actually made it a bit better!! LOL)
but my luck won't last too much longer so I need to protect it...
any ideas??
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I was thinking of using a phone sock to help keep it protected, the problem is having to slide the phone out every time i want to use it, id end up just leaving it somewhere. But keeping it steady with one is a good idea - but overall I'm looking for something more protective, good looking and will prevent the rocking.
I'm normally quite good with not dropping my phones, but a bumper or silicone case would be a must with a screen this size...don't really want to scratch or dent it (even if it has its upsides ;D ).
I'll keep looking, the annoying thing is that all the silicone ones I have found only have front or back on photos, not from the side...which is obviously important to check the level in relation to the camera area.
Cheers
Si
Was browsing through Google products and found this new one on Play, looks really cool not as dull and uninspired as the average silicone protector. I don't know again if it will help the issue with the raised camera, but I am still really interested.

I bought one of these and it does what it says on the tim. Protects the back and sides while offering unfettered access to the screen. It helps with the grip too, so I'm less likely to drop it (eek!)
Just so you know, the following case does have a slight wobble to it left and right when typing whilst on a flat surface. Not loads, but a wobble is there!

Yeah it looks good, nice to know its tougher than silicone, but unless it solves the rocking issue - I still prefer the one I found on Play...just because its cool looking.
but if you give it a go, let us know how well it performs and fits.
Well tbh I'm leaning toward the black one too but this TPU thing caught my attention and I was wondering if anyone has it

I don't think anyone should have it yet since HTC haven't released it.
I ordered it from handtec before but they say they will get it at the end of the month so I canceled mine.

It's not a cutout for the powerbutton.
It's for the 3.5 headphonejack.

To be honest, I don't think the picture shown is even the actual product. There is no hole for the speaker and the whole is definitely for the 3.5mm jack. (you can see the power button raised on the upper right corner). Since the case is not released yet, this is quite possible.
I've got this one too...
As CD993 says it does wobble, but only marginally... this is a TOUCH screen after all, you don't need to press very hard for it to respond!
The fact it's nearly £10 cheaper than the official HTC one (and yes, the image is wrong or else it's not going to have enough cutouts on the back!) is good enough for me!

WTF is the matter with posting links btw? At what point does this 'privilege' begin?
Does anyone know of a case that is like all the snap-on cases on the market yet holds the two halves of the phone together? I envision a little clip with a button by the microphone or something that, when depressed, releases the top half of the phone to expose the keyboard.
Anything like this out there???
Thanks!

This thread is for a belt clip holster. I am looking for a case that covers the phone and holds the two halves together (via a locking closure), nothing like the innocase holster that this thread is talking about. I'm seriously thinking about doing some DIY action on a case. I'm baffled that a company has yet to make a case that addresses the "loose hinge" design of the phone...

Well they are just covering their butts by helping HTC deny that their is even a problem. If they develope product that claims to solve it then it may hurt future business relations if not bring forth some kind of lawsuit from HTC.
Sure when there's thousands of forum threads in many languages across the web aswell as a bankrupting amount of returns due to this issue.. it's still an "unofficial issue" until an important party makes it so.

Ya it's really frustrating. I accept that it's the "design" of the phone. I just want an option outside of a DIY method to help keep it closed. Shucks..

Yeah mine is loose too, annoying even when the phone is closed. Scotch tape is your only answer!
But I love the keyboard...
Sent from my rooted HTC Vision running cm6.1.1
I think the best answer for a case would be a small magnet in the case to hold the two parts together until you want to separate them. I think you might be able to DIY with an existing case, a strong magnet, and some strong glue (i don't thing super glue will work because I don't think magnet is a non-porous substance). I would try it with some tape and see how it works before breaking out the glue. Tape/glue it to the case, not the phone, so that if it goes wrong you wont be stuck with it on your phone. I'm not sure about the long term effects of a magnet right next to the phone is though, and i definitely wouldn't use anything too strong, because the innards of you phone are made from metal, and it could rip something loose or play around with you flash memory. Let us know how it goes for you, or if someone finally makes a case which addresses this issue.
+1 to the magnet idea. i've given this idea some thought too but my level of lifehackery is too noob too attemp. i do see 2 pads on the keyboard side of the phone that could possibly be a good place to put magnets if the opposing side on the screen is hollow or if the magnet is thin enough. another thought...
double sided tape?
I jest...

Using magnetic tape on the sides of the keyboard has been talked about a lot and attempted by some people with success (do a search for it, there are pics of the mod).
There was also a case posted in this forum a while back that actually did have a clip that snapped the two halves together. Can't remember what it was called though.
Edit: Here is a link to that case: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=916060.

This.
I put mine in 2 when I went kayaking.
Got hit by a wave and the phone was fine. Can't say everything else in the bag was though
aww i get ig guys! but isnt it a chase that covers atleast the volume buttons?
because dirt is always finding its way up in there

(just remove the mount)
http://www.amazon.com/Otterbox-2600-Water-resistant-Crushproof-Black/dp/B003DXJ5UM (might fit the DHD)
http://www.htcphones.net/wavetooth-helps-to-protect-htc-desire-hd-in-water/ (strange looking but flexible with bluetooth)
Or use an Otterbox Defender series and do the following mods (I'm planning to do the same):
1. Cover the mic, front and rear speaker holes with:
http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/394637624/waterproof_fabric_speaker_mesh.html
http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/422671911/waterproof_speaker_fabric.html
2. Seal the polycarbonate with a thin layer of waterproofing silicone of sorts... (not too crazy about this idea though...)
Optional:
Use Zagg Invisible shield layer on the phone and make the polycarbonate fit (not sure if it will) and it should add another layer of protection. (just dab powder between the phone display and the built in silicone so it won't stick together in an ugly way)
Hope it helps!
Something to look forward to:

You can use with BT Headset then you don't have to take out the desire from the bag/ziplock. Worst case scenario you damage your BT headset
Thank you dude. But i didnt want my phone so look like a school sience project either
I was just wondering if there atleast was a normal looking case that atleast covered the volume keys
And maybe the little crack between the original case and the screen glass

I'm using the Case Mate Tough Case, it covers the volume and power buttons and 3/4 of the gap between the screen and aluminium housing. The gap is left uncovered at the top of the screen where the speaker is. It isn't meant to be waterproof but it gives some protection against splashes.
I have an otter box commuter series..long story short I thought I lost my phone to find it face down in a puddle...working perfectly. Get any otter box man u got regret it. Defender series is bulky but its up to you.
My mom and dad are coming from old flip phones where they had lanyards to prevent/minimize drops. I'm a little more concerned now that they have something more expensive and prone to damage if dropped. I originally wanted to get them the Diztronic TPU cases, but if there's something out there with a lanyard attachement hole that would be best.

I can confirm that this case has one too, and I love the case also
nice! i just wish they made one without the big android logo. i'll show it to my parents to see if they mind it or not.
i may just cut a small hole above the rear speaker grille and loop it through those two holes as well.
This was mentioned in another thread as well, but I'm not enitrely sure that I'd trust a lanyard on a silicone type case. What exactly is preventing it, when falling with a force, from holding onto the case and NOT the device? While the cases are clearly fit to our devices, they aren't exactly strongly hanging on either.
Unless you're using a lanyard on an Otterbox type of case, I wouldn't really trust it to hold more than just the case in a fall.
Dude, Im gonna go out on a limb and say, I think the lanyards are even better protection than a case...maybe not protection, but prevention. (That sounds weird..btw)
I used to put the lanyards on all my phones and, aside from kind of looking like an ass, I cant tell u how many times I prevented a drop, especially when pulling out of my pocket. It's just something to grab on to.. so.. +1

I used to as well, but it was actually on the phone, not the case (though it regularly went through a hole in the case as well, but the lanyard hole was built into phones before!)
I dont trust a lanyard attached to a rubber case
I have a CaseMate Barely There, very sleek,.. and strong, .. and has 2 holes for lanyard attach:

it's visible on the photos
This one 2 little holes for the lanyard too.

Such a shame that a well made case adds so much bulk
If only the One S had some rubber grips down the side, I wouldnt need a case then
