According to some1 in the other tread about the malicious apps....Even if you had, it doesn't matter since the vulnerability explored by the hack is already patched on 2.2+ firmwares, so rendering the code useless.
I have no clue what's going on with ya, but if I were you I would wipe everything and reflash a new.

gpsd but has nothing to do with the malware, I have 2.3.3 on it
and there is the security issue could not be found, the more I
none of these apps on my SNS on it.
So there must be another explanation for what caused this.

To begin with: what's gpsd? I mean, what is it and what use it?

It's to do with location based services and is GPS related...

disable or uninstall any app that uses the GPS
like those spy track my phone, and those so called where's my phone apps

I've been having this issue since flashing RC2 of CM7. Can't track down what's causing this.

gpsd is the "GPS Daemon". In the world of UNIX/Linux, gpsd is a very fundamental application service used to synchronize access to GPS hardware. In simple terms, it lets apps get data from the GPS hardware without having to know specifics about that hardware.
A simple google search would also answer your question: gpsd.

Good info that defintely makes a bit more sense of it. The question is what is causing it to suck down so much battery now?
Is there a way to narrow this down a bit? This is killing my phone

I found that info on latitude also. It's never been enabled on my devices, but I went ahead, enabled, changed settings, and disabled again to see. Going to give it a bit to get a better sense of the impact it might have had.

I am having the same issue
Voice Calls 17%

GPSD 17%
Maps 14%
Cell Standby 10%
Wi-Fi- 8%
TIKL 7%

Android System 3%
My thoughts are that is location based services such as latitude and google weather widget. Having said that I disabled Latitude on this charge and have the weather widget set to 6hr refresh. I should mention this is on a Galaxy S running CM7 03122011

sigh...
same problem, on my nexus s... i moved gpsd to upper folder and reboot my device then the process was gone the battery life returned to normal, but i lost the gps function... if i want to use the gps i have to move it back and reboot again...

I found that on my device, seekdroid was the culprit.
As far as I can tell, Seekdroid is not set to check GPS periodically. If Seekdroid can't find signal, it does not sleep for a certain amount of time and try again. It hammers the battery via gpsd until the phone is dead.
*Correction Edit:*
"As far as I can tell, Seekdroid is not set to check GPS periodically. If Seekdroid can't find signal, it does not sleep for a certain amount of time and try again. It hammers the battery via gpsd until the phone is dead."
Should read:
"As far as I can tell,if Seekdroid can't find signal, it does not sleep for a certain amount of time and try again. It hammers the battery via gpsd until the phone is dead."

I have none of those and it shows up for me

If you had read the thread all of the way through, you would have been informed that the post you referenced does not apply to our phones.
Basically, for me, something (seekdroid) was calling for a gps location and not getting it since I was inside. If this rings true for you, try going outside and see if that makes your phone's CPU usage go down.

I think I've reduced my reboots/screen-off crash

I'm sure I will still have reboots/issues like others because LG obviously knows of a bug in the phone BUT...in the meantime it appears I've reduced the reboots by uninstalling one bloody app.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.androidapps.widget.battery
I didn't use the widget but just the notification icon that shows battery %. I know this definitely has to have something to do with my earlier issues because prior to this I was getting freezes (screen is off and won't turn on without battery pull) and reboots quite frequently.
Since I uninstalled this junk, I've used the phone heavily and so far *KNOCK ON WOOD* it appears to be more stable.
Right now I'm sitting at 18h of uptime. Like I said, if I can get 4-5 days of uptime before a reboot I can live with it until a fix. But I can't have the thing reboot/freeze on me multiple times a day - that's not acceptable.
I'm using guage battery widget as I did on my Incredible without issue.

ur back light bleeding is not an issue its something for u to ***** about. if u don't like it take it back or turn down the brightness. its not that bad unless u text in the dark with ur nose to screen which in that case you are a douche bag. sorry to be so harsh but u could have looked at a demo model before buying and *****ing it gets old. do ur research it is still a better screen than the samold line other than the deep blacks that they are very much ahead of the game in regards to that on the samold.

220MB of data used in less than 1 day. WHAT?

I just checked my t-mobile account and noticed I used 220mb of data since yesterday afternoon. How in the world is this possible if I was on wifi 90% of the time?
This sucks because I lose 4g speeds after 2GB of data.
are you sure that's only since yesterday & not from the start of your billing cycle?

Might be the T-Mobile app thing. There was somebody else complaining of high data usage and traced it back to this app.

I'll see if I can find the thread for you
Couldn't find the specific post/thread I was quoting, but I did find this, on Android Police:
Update: Don’t install this app until it gets an update – it will turn your GPS on every 10 seconds to update your location info, and won’t stop unless you Force Stop it from the Manage Applications screen. It was at 68% on my phone’s battery usage menu after 6 hours of doing little with my phone aside from checking e-mail sporadically. Yuck.

If it's using GPS to update your location every 10 seconds, that needs data. So I suspect, if you have this app installed, this could be your problem.
Get a data usage app that tells you what app is using how much data. If it shows that it is indeed this new T-Mobile app, there's your problem

Just downloaded it. I'm not concerned with data (tho still want to read that post), I'm more concerned with why a lot of apps that I don't even use seem to always be on.
I think it's because they're stock apps and the default is always on. Once we have root, we should be able to get rid of them, and once we can flash ROMs, we can install stock HTC software, or Android Revolution HD
Just another reason to have s-off and root
Ok, after downloading traffic counter, it looks like it IS my fault for the excessive data usage.
It's showing the speed test app as using 130mb of data (since last reboot, which was yesterday). I admit I went a little crazy on the speedtest app yesterday and today (I've never had 4g speeds before switching to tmobile), but why does it use SO much data? I did quite a few tests, but still.
I tried that traffic counter app. XDA is killing my data 27mb. I spend to much time at this place.

As I'm on an unlimited data plan, I don't really care about data usage. I can go up to something like 5gb and my network (giffgaff, easily the best network in the UK) doesn't really care! The only thing I can't do is tether, but I can create a wifi hotspot for when I need to get on the internet on a bigger screen
If you're in the UK, I strongly implore you to take a look at giffgaff. Link in my sig

if you have a fast connection it needs to send/receiver bigger files to get an accurate account of what your speed it. if it only used like a 512KB file then it'd show your speed as 1028238234978234978MBps.

NewBay Service Killing Battery?

Does anyone know what this is? It's draining my battery by not letting my phone sleep and using CPU the entire time it's running. Also cell standby is really high but it's not saying " Time Spent Without Signal blah%" it just says the time my phone has been on?
Anyone know anything?

Google services uses a lot of battery

Hello
I've been having thoughts about my battery stats on my i9505. I can pretty much go through the day but sometimes a full charge is just not enough. I usually get 1:30 to 2 hours of screen time, and have about 20-30% battery left.
Here's what I'm wondering: why does google services use this much battery?
I'm running stock rom with Chainfire's cf auto root.
Here's some statistics.

Location service is the culprit. I had same issue on my S4. But I turned it off permanently and now I have nice battery life.
You can keep GPS on but turn off "Use wireless networks" option. Also make sure you have latest Play Store and Google Play Services installed on your phone.
try disabling the samsung push notification thingy... i suddenly started getting horrible battery life, and disabled this little guy yesterday... After 10 hrs of normal usage so far today, i still have 75% juice left

So you either using the phone extensively through the day which results to other things using up more battery ... or am i having a problematic phone? Or there is a magic setting that has to be made?
My average screen time is about 2-2,5 hours and that gets me easily 2-2 and half days of battery ... with same usage and google now on that's halved ... i m getting literally half the battery life with google now doing its thing ... without altering anything else on the phone ... just on and off google now ... which i ve been testing for a couple days ...
Yeah I don't see a daily benefit in phone knowing network location until I want a certain app to access my location. Try greenifying Network Location and any other wake lock apps that are NOT widgets or apps that u require notifications from (I greenified Google maps, play store and Google services). You will need greenify donate though (well worth it).
I got my standby battery almost flat instead of steady decline and can get an extra 10-20 hours of standby time.

Sorta, in a nutshell. I do believe it's a bad installation of the ROM that's causing the issue. If you're on a custom ROM that requires a gapps package the I would think reflashing the gapps package would do the trick to fix it but I can't promise that.
Don't have 10 posts, but I uploaded a screenshot to imgur, just add /GW1UrDo.
Obviously the issue is google services. What's strange is that it doesn't do this all the time, just once every few weeks...

But you can atleast make it difficult for them.
If the device is encrypted with bootloader locked, they can't do anything except wipe the phone, and they'll have to know how. However, you can purposefully break the USB port and use wireless charging only. So worse case is they wipe your phone but they can't get at your data, then you call up the carrier to have it's IMEI blacklisted, so thief is left with atleast a cripppled device.
But if not encrypt your data, then use stock recovery with locked bootloader and USB debuggin turned off, they can't get at the data anyway if you have a strong lockscreen and unlocking bootloader means full wipe. There might be a way to bruteforce or exploit a bug to bypass the lockscreen, but let's assume the user have an adequate password and Google patches any bugs. Also disable the power off/reset menu (it can be done). Then you can find the location of the device using Cerberus. With root, regular factory reseting will not remove Cerberus and if they removed the sim/turn radio off/change sim, Cerberus will report it.
Just keep your phone with you at all time and carry a magnum.
I just use Android Device Manager on all my devices. Luckily I haven't had to actually use it, but it's about time that Google implemented device manager. A little late in my opinion.

Not precise at all. It is good to create a general idea but if you want to get your phones back get cerberus.
I used Avast. The anti-theft option seems pretty decent. It buries itself in the OS and claims it's protected from factory resets. It has an option to remotely lock (which ALL anti-theft apps should have) but it also has the siren feature. If I activate it remotely, the siren sounds and the thief cannot shut it off while the phone is on.
Hopefully, I'll never need to use it but I do have it on all my devices.
