[Q] Unlocking HTC Touch Pro 2 - Touch Pro2 CDMA

I need to know how to Unlock my HTC Touch pro 2 SPRINT U.S. I have looked EVERY ****ING WHERE, all I found was sites that you need to pay and get a IMEI Code to unlock it, does anyone know a legit site that I can trust or another way.

RELAX!!!!
First of all, relax! I believe foul language is not allowed here (I understand the feeling of being looking everywhere for something, it's frustating) if what you are looking for is to unlock it in order to be able to use with others carriers check this one out http://rhodiumw.htc-unlocks.com/ and if what you're trying to achieve is to unlock it to put custom roms on it then go to:
gsm:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550131
cdma:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=578660
by the way, to get your imei try dialing *#06# that'll do the trick.
Hope that helps, peace and welcome to xda.

one thing I'd add, sprint is definitely cdma, so don't use the gsm link.

Ups! you´re totally right in fact I OWN a sprint tp2, so I know for sure that it is a world phone (basically cdma and gsm, but functions as a cdma when it comes to unlocking and flashing anything to it), I guess I tried to be too general so others (both gsm and cmda users) could benefit from my answer, but I totally forgot to advice him to go for the cdma link, thanks god you took the time to tell him, I hope he did his homework before jumping to any of those links.

Sprint TouchPro 2 CID GSM Unlock
ANybody knows anything about Olipro ? I have paid for touchpro2 cid gsm unlock service and no word from him yet, it's been couple weeks now.

SIM Unlock, I'm curious

Im sure there are information scattered across a gazillion topics, but I'm curious and thought it would be a good idea to gather the info in a central thread.
How are HTC phones generally locked?
Is it like a dongle or is it some obscure windows setting?
How someone can scatter some light on the subject.
Thanks.
Ps. I've ordered a HTC Touch Pro myself (locked).
Its done randomly.
Like for each IMEI each they make a random code. Its gotto be something with the programming part ie the software, since we have seen in the past people making programs that unlock these.
For the CODE part its just random , they make a lock and they have an unlock code for that IMEI.
Is there any way to tell if your Raphael is locked to a carrier except by inserting a diff sim? Everyone in my family has AT&T, so I can't do that. I'm assuming the AT&T Raphael is locked, but since it's only for testing you never know I guess.

The Fuze is locked I believe.. However, you can simply call Customer Care (611) and they will provide you with an unlock code.

Like The Verizon TP?

The TP2 is avaiable online today (09-11-09) and soon on the shelf. I would like to ask anyone who bought one to list their likes or dislikes (Pro's and Con's) about the device. This will aide some of us that have contracts expiring to decide what future device to purchase.
edit. Also can someone try the FM radio cab and see if the application works on the Verizion Phone. Instructions and CAB are here.

i ordered mine online today. should ship overnight and be here saturday or monday. will post feedback then
Ordered Today! should have Monday Tuesday.
already dislike having to wait!
I checked on verizon's website and I don't see the touch pro2 anywhere. Has anyone else noticed this?

Sorry, I guess what I should have said is that when I log into my Verizon account, I don't see the Touch Pro2 as an available upgrade phone. I only see it available for new customers.
Supposed to have mine tomorrow morning before noon. Will spend the weekend running it throught it's paces.
How soon before we'll see HardSPL for these?!?! Already can't wait to put a custom ROM on it.
Overnighted will be here by noon tomorrow will let you know.
Just ordered mine this afternoon. They're overnighting it, so hopefully i'll get it by monday or tuesday.
Star Menu
The phone is super fast. I hope there is an update to 6.5 from HTC or Sprint. Is there anyway to use the SIM card from another service on there? Like over seas rather than paying Sprint an arm and leg. Humm. This could open some real options.

Unlocking
I am looking at upgrading from my titan and I am confused about unlocking the new Verizon TP2. Is there a Hard SPL unlock available? If / when it is will that also unlock the SIM or is the SIM unlocking separate? Also my understanding is there are a couple of types of SIM unlock? Can some one point me to a good discussion of the different types? I have search but have not found some thing that clear talks about the type of unlock. I have read about the sim unlock that can be purchased and my understanding is that is different than the CDMA hardware unlock, (hard spl). If I do the CDMA unlock will unlock he sim card also, so that I will be able to put a prepaid sim in it? Basicly all of my question relate to can someone explain how the unlocking work in a phone with CDMA and GSM?
Thanks and confused

There currently isn't a Hard SPL unlock yet, but they're working on it. I don't want to wait either, but I'm at their mercy since I have no clue how to help build that.
As far as the SIM unlock goes, it is unlocked on the CDMA phones. However, it will only work on overseas due to FCC regulations. It would be nice if someone got it unlocked for US use, but I don't know if it will happen.

Currently there is not Hard SPl Unlocker. There is a team still working on that. Not sure about the rest...
I just got mine at 8:30 this morning. So far so good. Took me a while to figure out how to get to Settings on the WM 6.1 interface but it's under the TF3D settings tab and left softkey "all settings"
I cannot figure out how to get rid of the "message sent" popup when you send a txt msg. The registry entry change for the original Touch Pro doesn't work on this to get rid of the popup. I also made the 2 registry changes to enable spelling suggestions.
Big thumbs up.
Except for one change I made now turned my fn ; and : to /\ which are also on the keys above it. Now I lack ;: on my hardware keyboard. hmm
I ordered mine yesterday 9/11/09 4:30PM PST and overnight it but when I check my order status it says order processed and will receive within 2-3 business day. Why? When I over night it. May be I ordered to late in the day. So, I should have it by Monday or Tuesday if not back ordered. Hope not. We will see.
Just ordered mine
wasn't showin on their website as an available upgrade phone for me yesterday, however it is today.

It's still not showing up as an available upgrade for me. I don't want to call it in either because I want to make sure I get the instant rebate and ne2 discount. I've been reading that some get it and some don't when they call it in..I think it's pretty ridiculous that verizon is only offering it for new activations on their website in my area. Very lame.
+1 for owners to install the FM cab.
If it has FM hardware you can tell by this very quickly, and it's something that I LOVE on my diamond right now!
Let us know!!!
Ordered mine from Verizon yesterday at 10:30am. Should be getting it on Monday. I will post my initial impressions Monday night.

Crippled GSM Radio in US CDMA TP2's

Something is breaking the GSM Radio in US CDMA TP2's from being used with US GSM operators. Trying both a ATT and TMo SIM in a Sprint TP2 fails - network search shows no networks available.
Closer inspection shows that while the devices are SIM unlocked, they Ignore/Reject any networks with US MCC's.
Attempting to show networks with MCC 310 and 311 failed, while 334 and 666 showed up just fine.
Running the fieldTest utility (not to be confused with fieldTrial) shows the GSM radio a-flutter with activity, finding and listing UMTS and GSM networks stateside.
I've poured over the registry and nothing sticks out as the culprit for this behavior; I fear that certain MCC's are locked out of the baseband - but I'm not sure how one would go about examining such configurations and removing such limitations.
Thoughts?
Forgive my naivety, but will this benefit people like me who are VZW subscribers? Is there GSM speeds that CDMA can't reach in certain areas, which unlocking the other radios would allow us to automatically latch onto?
I'm just wondering if this discussion is geared more towards those trying to unlock to move to ATT, or if it can benefit us all equally.

I have accounts with Sprint, Verizon, and ATT. If I can pop in my ATT SIM in my Sprint TP2, and switch service at will (depending on coverage or preference), it would be most excellent.
Maybe I don't get it, but isn't this known? I thought the GSM radios were locked out in the U.S.? It has something to do with FCC compliance?
I believe US GSM frequencies are locked out via software and hardware, either by request of the CDMA carriers and/or the FCC's requirements.

It's an FCC thing, they have not authorized the GSM radio in it for use in the United States, even though it can do 850/1900 GSM. I'm afraid the GSM in these things is strictly for traveling outside the USA. It will show the GSM networks here, as you have found out, but the networks here will not allow it to use them, so no amount of hacks will make it work.

Are you sure about it being an "FCC thing"?
There have been a few reports of people getting an unlock code, and getting their hybrid TP2 to work domestically...sans 3G connectivity, apparently.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=555067
The cheapest I've found for an unlock code for the TP2 is $20 from here:
http://www.uniquephones.com/
but I don't know what their success rate is like; some companies charge as much as $35 for one.
That's a Canadian version though, I'm sure the models sold there are not subject to US FCC Laws.
Edit-I found this- http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2009/05/20/htc-passes-cdma-gsm-hybrid-touch-pro2-through-the-fcc/

Hmm... SIM lock and firmware lock--both "modifiable". I have hope.
I give it a month max till there is a workaround.

Gsm not enabled
Hi does anyone know if there is a work around for this it sounds like a firmware thing and not a hardware limitation also I have installed 6.5 on my GSM TP2 is there an SPL for the cdma version yet sorry to post here on this however im trying to get to the bottom of this
Thanks in advance for any help
I got my Verizon TP2 unlocked (just emailed support and they mailed back the unlock code). Popped in my Orange (UK) SIM, told the phone to use GSM only and was able to TXT/call from it and receive calls/TXT just fine via my UK number. (I'm physically in the US).
So it's not a lock so much on registering with US networks... but it may be a lock on US GSM SIM cards so you can't go toss in your TMobile (US) SIM and dump VZ service.

This is great news! I like to unlock any GSM enabled phone I get for Verizon, just in case I ever decide to leave - so I can take my phone with me
I'll be unlocking mine tomorrow when I get it, if they'll allow it. I've been a customer for over a year, and they allowed it on the Storm and Tour, so this shouldn't be a problem.
I've been with them for several years and as far as I know as long as you're current on your bill they'll give you the unlock code. I had mine for 2 whole days and they gave it to me.

Well thats good news I will see if Sprint allows me to do the same as I have accounts with AT&T and TMO also I would really like to use this on my ATT plan but it appears from reading the previous posts that perhaps US based sims are locked out I will attempt to unlock it tommorow nonetheless and see what happens on the other hand my VZW Storm worked like a charm after getting it unlocked ........... for some reason this seems different though if the FCC notice is read at face value Anyone having any experience with this giving feedback would be much appreciated

Yes are we talking VZW or Sprint?
I have had my phone two days on VZW. The CSR first said I have to wait 60 days, then checked with T2 and came back and said it is not available. I am sure he doesn't know what I was talking about. I will call again and then a third and if that doesn't work I will just email support as mentioned above. I need an unlock code before November as I will be on the road again overseas and I don't want to pay crazy International VZW rates!

Hmmm VZW Global support was not given the instructions to SIM unlock this TP2 from HTC. Sounds strange to me, has anyone had any luck getting it unlocked in order to use and overseas SIM while overseas instead of the VZW SIM with access to high rates?
I will contact HTC.

i'm confused? the title of this thread says flashing sprint tp2, then when we open the thread you are talking about a mogul. If you have mogul questions you should place them there instead of the tp2 thread. I don't know how to help that problem, but placing the question in the correct thread is definitely where to begin.
yes
i am using the mogul on metro pcs but i just bought a sprint touch pro 2 and would like to use it instead of the mogul... the TP2 is a damn fine phone.
Here is the forum for CDMA Rhodiums. It doesn't seem that Hard-spl, much less unlocking, is anywhere near ready for the CDMA Rhodium yet, though. So you'll have to wait awhile. But once a Hard-spl and unlocker is released, it would be released there.

ok i understand. I too have a tp2 and love it. Unfortuantely the hspl isn't ready for the tp2 yet so no custom roms can be made. the hspl is the unlocker for the phone, without that no changes can be made.
I dont think some people realize what your asking... basically people think unlocking the phone means adding a new rom onto the phone.. you dont need a hardspl to put a phone on metro's service... Long story short.. until houdinisoft supports the TP2 your out of luck... i had a TP flashed on metro and thats the latest htc phone they support right now.. i'd keep on checking houdinisoft.com(thats who metro goes thru to reprovision the phone) to see if they'll update there support for more phones in the future.

You are correct, with that software you don't need hspl. But with hspl you don't need that software. HSPL will more then likely be out before that software is out. the tp2 has already been shipped to cmonex and i'm almost certain cmonex will crack that phone before that software website is updated. More then likely that software website uses the hspl to do whatever is they do, but that is only a guess.
Ok so time to move this thread to the right forum, it doesnt belong here with all the gsm Touch Pro 2

Metro
Yeah, metro is basically the same service as sprint. more or less rented towers from them. they use the same technology, but they keep it dumbed down and make their phone OS's either out of java, or for smartphones some sense of symbian.
I have been using the TP2 with metro pcs for a while now... prob a week after I started this thread. The proccess for flashing the phone is the same as the Sprint Mogul. The only thing that will cost you money is finding a store that ca add ESNs to the Metro network. I found a store in Orlando that flashes CDMA blackberrys to metro and they seem to be able to add the ESNs. When I brought them the phone they said no problem, what kind of phone is this? I just said touch pro, not touch pro 2. When they called to have the ESN added he just gave them the imei # and presto- phone has worked great ever since- Phone, text, and full web. no MMS though, but I really dont care about sending pics.
-Last night I updated to the Official Sprint Win Mo 6.5 because there was a known bug with the version that came on the phone that would make the dates come up as 2016. After installing the new OS I can not change the modem settings to access the internet. So if you are trying to do this, and you want to be able to access the web, then do not install the update to 6.5, unless of course you are using a custom rom

Telus (Canada): Possible to unlock Touch Pro?

I was wondering if anyone might be able to offer direction as to how I might unlock my phone? Thanks bill_in_mtl,
I guess that is my question then So, can the Telus CDMA be unlocked? IF so, how?
