Hi everyone, I'm running Android 2.3.4 (OpenSoju Rom) on my Nexus S,
but the issue i'm going to describe has happened to me on other Roms and
even on my old Nexus One.
When the phone is idle, 3G data works great (also when using apps that
require an internet connection), but when I receive a call,
after a minute or two, the 3G icon disappears from the notification
bar and the phone data connectivity is lost - no connection to the internet.
I've asked around and someone told me it is because the phone switches to
2G network during the call and when in the phone is in 2G mode, during a call
there is no data (on a 2G network).
I know that in the past this behavior did not occur, and in my country
when in 3G during a call - data is enabled!
So does anyone know how to fix/change the setting that causes this behavior?
'cause, for me, sometimes I really need the data connection during a call,
for example, when navigating using Waze (which needs data connectivity),
and receiving a call it causes Waze to stop working and I lose my GPS direction.
Thanks.
Use to work for me too. Then i noticed when AT&T started saying the had talk and web at same time, mysteriously it started doing what is happening to you. And i have Sprint, unless you switch to at&t you might be waiting for awhile.

Hi everyone,
My problem is, that I live very close to switzerland and my phone often switch to the swiss provider.
I select the network manually but I think if there isn't enough signal in my home network, it will switch.
Is there a possibility to disable roaming? Is there an app or a setting on my desire?
I know that I can disable data roaming but I would like to have the same for telephone/sms too.
kind regards,
Gryffin
I use VPN settings on Android and I keep it on. Once the phone rings then the VPN gets disconnected. Is there a way to keep it always alive over 3G/4G?

Q: Why does the VPN disconnect when I make or receive a voice call?
A: Some cellular networks are incapable of maintaining a data connection during a voice call. If Android detects this as a loss of network connectivity, the VPN should enter a pause state during the duration of the call, and automatically resume after the call is complete. However if the loss of data connectivity isn't detected by Android, the VPN connection may time out and disconnect.
So at least try a vpn apps to get a keep alive feature, or reconnection ... even if I cannot totally trust vpn apps
Another idea could be also to use "Tasker" apps via "Secure settings" and trigger a reconnection after hang off the phone.
Hope it helps.
I used to use Tasker & Secure Settings log time back but for another purpose. I think I must be rooted for them to work. How do I configure Tasker to trigger reconnection?

Hi everyone, sometimes my phone just doesn't receive real-time notification like Whatsapp messages when connected to the cellular network (WiFi works fine); the data usage settings are already without any restriction and the app don't have data restrictions.
Once I set-up all the restrictions I need and I fear something remained, but it doesn't seem to be in an obvious place.
Marshmallow edit: apparently it was something related to Android restrictions that even if they were not shown were still there. If someone has this issue just reset all the app settings and it should work.
Any idea?
Tya,
Marco

Are you using straight talk? If not what carrier? Straight talk, for example, closes ports after a period of time of inactivity. Which is why I left them over a year ago among other things, but mostly that.
I'm on T-Mobile, but I was on T-Mobile too 2 months a go with a different data plan and I don't recall it was happening.
