Where can I find the save files for games? Don't want to lose all my progress after a wipe! Thanks in advance =D

There is no standard location although generally this type of info is stored in /sdcard.
If you really don't ever want to lose anything, I suggest Titanium Backup Pro + Dropbox.

Well you gotta be rooted, and I find that lots of game save data is stored internally in /data/data/ and you have to be root to access it

Can someone please create an app that can encrypt folders instead of just individual files? There seems to be plenty of file and password encryption apps in the market, but I can't find any that will encrypt folders and it's contents. Maybe have the app password protected so when the user is in the app he or she can view the files in the encrypted folders without having to decrypt them. In otherwords no other app can view the contents until it's decrypted.
I'm sure someone in the xda forum is capable of this and I can't image I'm the only one that would find this useful. Willing to donate!
I believe the Biowallet Beta app does this.

Nah man, you can't encrypt folders with Biowallet only individual files. Cool app thou...
+1
This seems like a useful app idea!
What kind of files are you trying to protect? I was using File Cover to hide images and videos in the browser, but I found it easier to just keep all my files in a single folder and rename that folder with a . before the title so the contents don't show up in the gallery. This doesn't protect anyone crafty enough to use said file manager, but it keeps my gallery safe.
I'd like if all files I place in a certain folder could be encrypted, so that if somebody steals my phone they cannot simply stick the sd card in their computer and randomly access anything personal/private..
I'd also like the folder to be password protected so that if my phone breaks I can open the sd card on my pc and get access to the folder content just by typing a password.
Please shout out if you know an app that makes this possible.
Regards -e
In the meantime you could try using Protector which can passcode protect any application.
Check out RR File Locker. Again, won't lock a folder, per se, but you can stick whatever files you want in there and organize into folders inside the locker. Encrypts and password protects anything you put in there.

I was looking for this software, but android market says that can't be installed in my contry (italy). Does anybody know why?
Is there another way to buy and install this software in my original desire Z?

Take out your SIM, run the installation over Wifi. I'd personally recommend pushing it from market.android.com rather than using the market on your phone.

market.android.com doesn't look for my country when I sign in my google account?
I really don't understand the choice to country-limit the installation of an app, credit cards are credit cards all over the world, aren't them?

DroidCrypt! In the market...
I am wondering where the personal data is stored for this app. Such as saved locations, tracks, settings, etc. I would like to back up this folder with my daily backup through PIM backup.
Thanks!
No one knows this?
Didn't this question before. They are stored on the device under Garmin: e.g. GARMIN_WPT.NVM contains favorite locations.

I actually found it.
It is the main Garmin folder on the root directory of the phone.
EDIT: Looks like I was a bit late responding.
Hi,
I'm looking for an application that'll backup my photos. Unfortunatly there is no stable program that'll sync my DCIM folder to Dropbox or something similar. I'm aware that Wavesecure has a backup media option, but they don't offer batch restore or download and the backup job has to be started by hand.
Note for the wise guys: I'm looking for something automated, plugging in my phone to the computer and copying the folder isn't automated.
Thank you
Jorijn
Picassa no good?

Does your phone have a memory card and change the settings to change the saved folder to memory card.
Lookout Premium does that (backups photos online for $2.99/month or $29.99/year). Also does remotely locate, wipe or lock your phone. I'm very happy with it.
Thank you. Last time I did some research lookout didn't yet offer this feature.
Got myself some Lookout Premium
Dear Skyrocket Community,
I have music stored on my external SD and playlists associated with the music. Is there any way to keep the playlists intact when I switch over to a new rom? I am currently on stock rooted 2.3.6 but will flash Sky ICS once I have an answer to this. Thanks

Generally speaking, the program you used to create playlist has 2 components you can safeguard with a well chosen backup program.
They are the apk that runs the music program, and the program's (user generated) data. Your playlists are in the second category, along with specific settings options you chose.
If you install (an identical or a compatible version of) the same program under a new rom flash, you can then optionally restore the related data you backed up. I would ignore the backed up program and reload it from the Play store, then restore data. This assumes a third party music program as opposed to a cooked in one, which might not be as flexible.
You should have a nandroid anyway, so it might be easy enough to experimentally:
back up the program and data for your music library
add a short new playlist, clear (music) program caches and data
uninstall and reinstall the program
restore the backed up data that includes the extra playlist
If successful, you will know that this worked in your current rom. If ICS changes that, your nandroid resets the whole experiment.
You want to import/export your playlist? That should be easy if you find the file the playlist is stored in. It may just be in simple txt. As a playlist is not actually music, its just a list that states what order you want your music to play in.
An example may be:
sdcard/external sd/music/bobseger_turnthepage.mp3
sdcard/external sd/music/kidrock_cowboy.mp3
etc.
etc.
Thats how most playlists are created and stored. Very simple, small file. Now this post may be completely usless to you as I dont know the file or if for certain thats the senerio. But it is the case in most music players for PC. And its extremely simple so it makes sense. Maybe I pointed you in the right direction to look. I hope so...I dont want to waste your time.
I already flashed the rom , but I have a Nandroid from before. Could I look at the files on my computer and possibly find the playlist and copy it to my SD card?

MyBackup Pro from the market backs up "Music Playlist". I've never had any playlists to back up, so I can't comment on the feature. I can only tell you that it's there.

The Game is "Day R Survival"
I just tried to edit the save file to add some resources but when I run the game after editing the file the game no longer shows my data and starts a new game instead
Fortunately I had backup but I still want to find a way to edit the save file instead of searching for mods for the game
Question
A quick question about that... where did you go in the directory to edit the save file?
I'm curious, because I've tried to do the same twice now to no effect.

Maybe the data pertaining to your resources is not saved in the save file, maybe it is actually stored in the game server somewhere and the data in your save merely has markers for your resources, maybe editing your save file creates a conflict between the data on the device and the data in the server, causing a rejection of the save file, resulting in starting a new game.

Day R saves are not server-side, they keep information regarding the inventory, quest, vehicles, caps, all of it in two locations, on your phone (or PC if using an emulator) and the cloud. If they're using the right directory (under data/data) then there are 6 profile files (3 main, 3 backups) to work with. Unfortunately, it seems the Day R devs don't want us modded players tweaking our goods, so each save profile has a checksum the game looks for when loading the file. If they don't math out, it loads the backup. If the backup has the same checksum conflict, it wipes both and forces you to restart. The only modified saves I've seen so far appear to predate the removal of the BelAZ from the in-game market and come in a modified APK of the game.

The cloud IS server side, when storing data in the "cloud", it is being stored non-locally on a server somewhere, that is why it is called "cloud".
And the checksum is the "marker" that I was referring to, comparing the save files checksum(marker) to the data in the cloud(server), rejecting the save if it doesn't match the data in the cloud(server) and force starting a new game, is also exactly what I was referring to.
So, basically, you pretty much repeated what I was saying, you were just more "specific" with the terminology.

Okay, that's entirely my bad... though, I'm curious how that works with an emulator and a modded APK, since the game doesn't connect to the cloud server in this scenario, yet the checksum still works. (Save data is kept locally.)

PC or not, your data is still being stored in the cloud, if the data on your system doesn't match the data in the cloud, it's still a no-go.
