[Q] Anyone know of a trusted seller on ebay for batteries? - Fascinate Accessories

Anyone have a good experience from a specific ebay seller for batteries? I've been wanting to get a spare but I'm so wary of ending up with a fake and/or defective battery that will damage my phone. That said, I really don't want to dish out $100 for one from my carrier either. Even if someone knows where I can pick up an OEM battery for a decent price (ie not $100) it would be greatly appreciated. I'm with Telus, so don't know if there are any good places for OEM's in Canada. Thanks in advance!
PS: not looking for an extended life battery, just a regular one.

Vzw website, 39.99 gets u a battery plus charger and a splitter to charge both at the same time.
so fresh and so superclean.

Thanks, I hope they'll ship to Canada, if so I'm in business
edit:
No such luck, only US =(

I purchased the spare battery system from mrhitonline on eBay and it's legit. I'd link you to it, but the board does allow me to due to my non-existant post count.

Got two batteries and charger from dailypc on amazon. Not oem but damn good purchase. Best decision I made for this phone. 25 bucks too

Is the Telus Fascinate's battery the exact same as the Verizon Fascinate's? I'm not sure if that's the case since they are fairly different for phones that have the same name. Just wanted to point that out since everyone is suggesting VZW stuff.

I use EBay on occasion, however I just purchased this 3500mAH battery from Amazon...gonna try it out
http://www.amazon.com/EXTENDED-BATT..._21?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1294695593&sr=1-21

By default the phone will ***** about an unsupported battery if you try to charge it. Even most modified kernels out there don't have the code that checks to make sure your battery is Verizon approved removed, and will refuse to charge batteries not specifically made for the Fascinate.
I am using a $6 battery made for the i9000 and just got it charging tonight, but it required a modded kernel and I'm afraid it'll blow up or something. Thanks Verizon

[Q] Is it safe to buy this battery?

Im thinking of buying this battery, it says oem but is it safe?
Anyone can help
h**p://cgi.ebay.com/OEM-1500mAh-Li-ion-BATTERY-Samsung-i9000-Galaxy-S-/150478327638?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item2309350f56#ht_943wt_905
well it will be safe, wont be as good as an original samsung battery,, but it will do the job if your on the go.
They are safe. I have purchased a couple & have had no problems with charging in the phone & with a charger, but you won't get the same amount of power out of them as you would with a genuine Samsung battery. OEM seems to cover a multitude of sins, especially from China. I think they are more likely to be about 1100mAh. But for the price they are ok.
thanks for your answers,
edit : so they wont explode then, good to know
no they wont explode... lol
if they did then the US army are wasting millions
they should just buy a load of these in bulk lol
Why not just buy from Amazon or one of the online Tech shops? Price is not much different and quality is assured. If things go wrong you have easy ways to deal with it.
Sorry for my noobness im not very familiar with the amazon system, does it allow paypall payment?
Also can you post a link to the battery you are refering
thanks
you can also but batteries direct from samsung for 29-39 depending on site and when.. i have a few.. pricy but you are guaranteed to get geniune batteries and they always have worked better for me than any ebay knock offs (even the ones that look genuine but i am sure are not)

Just go to www.Amazon.com or www.Amazon.co.uk if you are UK based or whichever your local Amazon is then type in Galaxy S battery as a search.

Any opinions on Acesoft battery?

Normally batteries can't have any more juice than the OEM batteries without adding more thickness. So whenever I find batteries claiming to be "extended" yet the same size as the OEM battery, I get suspicious. Nevertheless, I'd like to know what others think.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/391014963746?lpid=82&chn=ps
So? What do you all think? Is Acesoft a reliable company or is this all bull-poop?

I'm not asking anyone to buy it anyways. Just asking if anyone knows anything about Acesoft and has any experience with their batteries.

using different chemistry and packaging (less safe) it's possible to get little more. but not 1000mAh.. not 33%..
Samsung has the battery/charger combo back in stock on their site. Call the 800 number and order mentioning your 50% off coupon and how you've been waiting for months to see it back in stock. They most likely won't even ask for a coupon code. $28 and change shipped.
Thanks all.
I don't really NEED a second battery (I come home from work after 12hrs w 60%-75% battery left), but if there was a battery with more juice, but didn't add thickness to the phone, then why not? Right?
I just had to check. I figured it was BS but just had to double check.

[Q] Where do you by your batteries?

So I've seen many threads concerning ebay+batteries = fake. I'd like to ask you guys where you get the not-so-fake batteries from (online). I've seen a couple of places that sell the (supposedly) original ones (A-Grade?) along with another listing for the fake ones which they call 'wholesale' or R-Grade (not sure what the R is for).
I want to know if there are any trusted sources to get an original battery. Tried calling the dealers in my country and they said that they don't issue phone 'parts' unless it's given for repairs.
so yeah,. where do you guys get your batteries from?

If you want to guarantee your battery is OEM than you need to buy it from either your local carrier store, Samsung, or a big box retailer like Best Buy. However, if you do not mind the extra bulk I cannot make a higher recommendation for a Zerolemon Battery/Case. I would link it, but I am a newer user and cannot post links. It is easy to find on Amazon and the price is great at $41.99.

I buy direct from Amazon. In my case amazon.ca.
I work at a busy cell/computer repair shop so we wind up ordering 10+ batteries out per device at a time since you never know when a dozen iphones may come in. We pull our parts from Mengtor and Global Direct Parts.
As far as personal opinion goes, Mengtor parts are generally junk for new(ish) phones. Until it's been out for a year, at least, we pass on any mengtor orders even if we save a decent amount simply because returns are highly frowned upon by us and customers (obviously, who wants to bring their phone back again?). However, After a year, or even two of parts being revised and worked on we migrate over from GDP to Mengtor since the warranty process for faulty parts we order goes through faster and they've worked out the kinks in their junk by then.
Global Direct Parts on the other hand, have never let me down. Sure we've ordered junk parts that are dead on arrival but for the most part they are our main supplier for all, excluding iphone 4/4s and prior iphones (due to well, being over a year old and the previous issues are taken care of).
The cost on GDP right now for you would be 22.89 for a battery on an S4 for Verizon (Here to link)
Our cost is about 15-18$ depending on if they are pushing stock for new orders to their warehouse or willing to hold onto it. Warranty process has always been excellent as well for when we get a bunk battery, or other part. Also, they generally offer OEM and aftermarket parts depending on which you want. The link goes to an OEM variant. Hope this helps!

OEM from Amazon I believe is good.
can't go wrong with OEM
Either amazon or preferably the Samsung store.
I bought ones of these, $8.75 & free 2 day shipping with Amazon Prime.

I've always had good experiences with Anker. They're also available on Amazon, and unlike several of the knockoffs, they guarantee NFC compatibility if they list it.
If u can find a way of shipping items from china's tmall to ur place, they do hv authentic batteries from samsung's factories in china, with the retail packaging and all. It is a cheap option if u can find a way to save on shipping.
If not, I would just get anker batteries as they are reliable.

How about the duration of "non original" batteries. A friend of mine has purchase a couple of them at Amazon and the duration is lower than the original.

I bought mine from Amazon and using some service to ship it to my country, Anker 7800mAh, to be specific. Works like a charm.
I just got an anker 2600mah battery from a local seller. Works great. Will see how long it lasts. My zerolemon lasted around 8 months.

U could find any online seller that has the real deal for a cheaper price if u know how to spot fakes. Otherwise, if u really have to get the samsung one, u gotta pay more to buy it off the official retail stores.
As much as I hate paying Samsung for their horribly overpriced accessories, batteries included, I did end up buying my spare battery from Samsung, but I waited until they had a 50% off accessories sale. I wasn't in a rush, so I just waited until a sale came up. Call it a compromise.
I buy an original samsung battery from aliexpress.com

How to spot a fake Samsung battery?

I just purchased a battery on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NT2X4XG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It arrived today and I was a little surprised by the "Retail Packaging." Not sure what I was expecting, but seeing other Samsung product packaging, something similar.
Pulled the battery from my phone to check for difference, and everything looks exactly the same except for the serial portion. The text is a bit different than my original battery, with fatter letters. The QR code also looks different. Everything else looks exactly the same...
Anyone have any idea? Would hate to think I ponied up $25 to Amazon for a bootleg.

It's hard to tell to be honest... Due to the fact that you can just put a sticker on any battery that has a similar color, shape, and texture. You can compare the markers marks, serial numbers, and other text but not all Samsung batteries are made or sold from one factory. I've bought some from Amazon myself (3 in fact) and haven't ever had a problem. Heck, samsung doesn't even offer new ones anymore on their website. I just mark mine with a sharpy for their age etc. and use a battery only charger connected to a fast charger and am very happy with my set up. It seems that SOME of the batteries are refurbs but they are generally sold as such. Higher price and good reviews help as well. I would just go by performance since there is nothing else you can do since our devices are older at this point. Sorry I couldn't help with more...
Oh here's the link to my latest one that works fine for me. In fact... I think yours is from the same place. I'm pretty damn sure it's genuine.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OQLMJR6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
And here's the link to my battery only charger (again this is connected to a QC 2.0 charger for best results!)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UFCRO0W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Thanks for the response. Ya, i get it's older now, and bootlegs are all over the place. It's just a pain in the ass not to get ripped off nowadays buying phone accessories. On the plus side I guess we have options!
Only way is to buy directly from Samsung or buy a non-OEM battery that's likely not going to be copied such as from Anker

In general, this.
If you can't buy directly from the manufacturer anymore, buy a trusted third party battery. No one is going to bother faking a third party battery.
However, in my experience, any item sold and shipped directly by Amazon is trustworthy. The link you provided says it's shipped from and sold by Amazon.com, so you should be safe.
Just compared two original Samsung batteries for the S5, one that came with an SM-G900F (international S5), and one that comes with the S5's spare battery charging system (sold at Best Buy in the US). There were plenty of small differences in the battery labeling.
Why bother with Samsung official crap batteries? My note 4 original battery lasted 3 months from brand new to dead. I purchased a new Anker from Amazon and its over 8 months without issue and still holds an incredible charge. 20$ beats Samsung official any day in my book, I bought myself two just to have one handy but I have yet to date needed it.

Yes and yes.
NFC is done through the the stock cover and fast charging is done through the charger with the operating system. I only use anker now and both fast charging with NFC most definitely works.
I am running AOSP as well so it even works through AOSP.

I've just bought a "genuine Samsung Extra Battery Kit" and was told that all their stock is genuine. It's really the external charging cradle/coffin that I'm after as opposed to the battery (I always buy Anker as replacements) and I found you can't buy them from Sammy in the UK anymore so I've had to go trawling the net. Does anyone have any pointers as how I can check?
Once the battery is charged I'll check that the NFC and fast charging work, but I've no idea about the cradle and how to check....

Looking at my external charging cradle/coffin, I would say that the printing on the sticky label would not be so sharp on a cheap fake.

Which sticky label are we talking here? Looking at the cradle I can't see anything that's stuck on - or is it the labelling on the base that'll currently be covered by the charging battery? Roughly how long does it take to charge your battery using the standard Sammy 2A charger?

Yes - mine is genuine. Sourced from EE in the UK.
Just bought a replacement battery direct from the Samsung UK site - £25 but worth it for the peace of mind, and knowledge that it's definitely genuine. Free delivery.
EDIT: Ordered at 5:00pm, it's now the next morning and my battery has arrived - great speed for free delivery! (Now, if only Samsung could get their firmware updates out as fast!)
EDIT: Genuine Samsung packaging (with the window on the front of the box, and a plastic container for the battery) and manufacture date of last month, so fresh off the assembly line

And baffled why there is so much worry over original OEM batteries. Samsung batteries are totally junk.

Personally, I'm trying to work out if the unit I bought is likely to be a fake. Yes, you've already voiced your opinion on this topic, hence why I'm confused as to why you need to give the same again? You don't rate Samsung batteries based on your personal experiences. That's fair enough. But you've already rubbished them and said that you use Anker ones and I'm sure that's been duely noted by all of us reading this. But posting the same thing again in response to a conversation between two people who've already purchased Samsung units doesn't really help anyone, in this context.
From my experience, I had both Samsung and Anker batteries fail on me when I was travelling round India. The Sammy one's included the old battery that was on it's last legs and a cheapie (that was included in an order for other S3 stuff from ebay) but I had 2 out of 4 Anker ones die on me - all bought at the same time and all newer than the genuine Samsung one. Anker eventually, after a lot of emailing, gave me a refund for the faulty units. I then bought some more for the Note 3 that replaced the S3, and so far, one Anker for my new Note 4. So I'm not anti Anker - I really like their products (I've a great little bluetooth speaker from them). This is just for a bit of balance.
I also received external Anker chargers that were REALLY low quality junk for the S3 and then the Note 3. They came with 2 batteries direct from Anker on Amazon.com (the UK site didn't have any when I needed them).
---------- Post added at 06:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:07 PM ----------
I've charged the new battery and tried using NFC and it works fine - have they started making copies that use NFC (that used to be the way to spot a fake with the S3) or does that mean that I've got a genuine one?

Here's my opinion on this battery talk thread.
I have bought plenty of batteries from amazon for my devices. Some Oem and some not, and I haven't had one problem from none of my aftermarket ones either. Probably because I know how to charge/discharge a new battery. Any type of (new) battery will take a few days to calibrate for whatever device you use.
My motto buy it, test it out (myself) and see if it lives up to your standards. If its faulty for any reason, then return it for a replacement.
I'll end it with this statement, I have't had to return any of the batteries I ordered. And this goes back to my S2 up to my Note 4.
If your a true battery hog like myself then invest in a extended battery and call it a day.
Regards,
Bajanman
FYI There is still one way to get a genuine Samsung battery (NFC) still.

Legit OEM battery.

Hello everyone,
recently I have been having charging/discharging issues with the batter and I have figure out to change the batter. I went to Amazon/Ebay looking for good batteries but ended up backing out due to the fact that all reviews bring up the legitimacy of these batteries. So here I'm trying to find a good battery replacement.
Thanks in advance.
I've heard MD / Mobile Defenders is a good supplier but I don't know where you reside in but they are for the U.S.
Thanks, I'll do some search and see if I can find a viable way to purchase from them.
i bought a replacement battery from ebay. not samsung directly but said samsung. Whether the battery is legit im not sure but i replaced my fat bulging battery and have had the one from ebay in my s6. considering it has lasted me since last summer and ive had the same if not better battery life and for the price of 10 bucks (already owned the tools) its been good. The replacement process is easy and i am a novice cell repair man. besides getting a bad battery you can always return it and get a replacement or try another vendor. Godspeed fella
