[Q] HTC HD2 T9193 TELSTRA to ANDROID, Question about 850 BAND - General Questions and Answers

Hi... Im from Costa Rica, our unique phone provider here (ICE) works with 850 band for 3G, which is the same as the Australian and AT&T as you know, so I had to buy my HD2 in the T9193 version. I found that windows really sucks, so I decided to change it to Android, I watched videos and read a lot, finally I succesfully did it and it's working just fine. But now, when I try to change it to 3G it doesn't work, I just realized that when I get into the phone Identity on Windows it says:
Model No
HTC HD2 T8585
Then on software information:
OS:
5.2.23152 (23152.5.3.12)
Manilla version
2.5.20191914.0
Rom Version
Dutty´s HD2 FAM ROM (V13a) WWE
ROM Date
25/12/2010
Radio Version
2.14.50.04
Protocol Version
15.42.50.09U
and when I try to change to 3G it says
Band Frequency
Auto
GSM (900+1800)+UMTS(2100+900)
GSM(1900+850)
UMTS(2100+900)
Looks like the Rom that I downloaded and installed in order to be able to change it to android changed the T9193 settings and the 850 Frequency is no longer supported. Here are my questions:
#1- Do I have a T8585 now?
#2- Do I have to change the rom back to Telstra to make it work on 3G?
And then when Im on Android Im totally lost. I tryed to find where to change the settings to get 3G but it only says:
Network Mode
WCDMA only
GSM Only
GSM/WCDMA auto
This is the Android version I installed:
Model Number
HTC Desire HD A9191
Android Version
2.2
#3- How or where can I change or find 3G on Android?
#4- Please tell me what to do so I can run android, and use 3G on a 850 frequency since I bought the Telstra T9193 version please.
Last question is:
#5- Is the band Frequency a software issue or a hardware issue?
First 2 questions are for Windows, the #3 and #4 are for Android. Last one is a general question.
I will really appreciate your help.
Thanks in advance...

Noobie Intl Question: CDMA refers to CDMA or WCDMA?

Hi,
In Australia we have two versions of the HTC Touch Pro 2:
T7373 (works on 3g networks 900/2100); and
T7381 (works on 3g networks 850/2100).
Both phones are GSM & 3G phones. Both phones take SIM cards. One is designed for Telstra (an operator that uses 3G 850 Mhz network) and the other is designed for the other carriers (Vodafone, Optus etc.) who use 3G 2100 Mhz network.
I am wanting to flash a T7381 model to get rid of the carrier firmware. I am guessing that I can't flash with the ROM file from "Flashing your First GSM Rhodium Rom (For Noobs) ".
Is there a flash file for the T7381 version?
The reason why I want to flash is because the carrier Telstra has designed their ROM to not allow the Internet settings to be changed to a different carriers settings.
If you are sure what you have is a GSM phone, then you are asking in the wrong forum. Go over to Rhodium GSM forum, download HardSPL from there, and then flash to any ROM you like.
I have the same question.
You have described the problem perfectly, just need a perfect answer. Anyone?
I can answer the question in the thread subject...
CDMA phones come from CDMA carriers, who don't require SIM cards in their phones, so you can call people without the SIM card. These carriers/phones are usually Verizon/Sprint/Telus. These phones use a different kind of technology.
WCDMA is just 3G. I have a T-Mobile USA (GSM) Rhodium. Under Comm Manager, I can set my Network Type (Band) as either "GSM" (2G/EDGE) or "WCDMA" (3G/UMTS).

HTC SNAP NOT DETECTING 850MHZ/UTMS Band

Hello, I recently bought an HTC Snap s521. Upgraded it to WM6.5. It is an "unlocked" phone.
My provider is offering now 3g, using the 850Mhz band but the phone won't connect to it.
They tell me I need a Radio Rom upgrade or the USA ROM version.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Rolo
you need use the special phone which can support 850 M UMTS.
S521 is 900. You need a S522 or an S523 from Telstra for 850MHz. You can get only Edge on a S521 in USA.

[Q] HTC TP2 CDMA in US Unlocked Internationally?

Hi guys, I bought a Sprint Touch Pro 2 that was being used on the CDMA network, but after moving to Ireland, I realized the phone was automatically unlocked hence any sim works on it.
I have used the Rhodium W Hard-SPL in the CDMA section for it, but am left wondering. Does my TP2 still fall under CDMA or is it now under GSM?
Coz i have tried loading some ROMS under the Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile ROM Development and it failed and returned an ERROR.
So question is, is it still CDMA and can I upgrade to Android ROM?
Thanks.
1) Yes, the default Sprint radio is unlocked for the Euro GSM bands (900/1800 GSM and 2100 WCDMA) by default. No need to pay for a SIM unlock unless you want to swap radios ROMs.
2) NO, you CANNOT use GSM ROMs. The device can only use the custom "CDMA" ROMs. The CDMA TP2 hardware is a hybrid model, whereas the "GSM" versions are GSM only. The ROMs are incompatible.
DO NOT FLASH A GSM ROM TO YOUR SPRINT TP2 FOR ANY REASON WHATSOEVER.
As far as Android, yes, you can safely load Android via Haret.
Thanks Gamescan for that prompt and to the point reply. Much appreciated.
Just another question if you might know, so which would you say is has better hardware? If the CDMA is Hybrid and the GSM is GSM only, am I to take it that the CDMA is better as it's (for lack of a better word) more advanced, or is the GSM better and why?
Thanks, thinking of trying Android, but, first read alot and see if the advantages outweigh running WM on the TP2.
Same hardware, different radios.
If you're in Europe, it doesn't really matter as every TP2 model supports GSM 900/1800 and WCDMA 2100, which are the Euro GSM and 3G frequencies.
Model choice only matters if you plan on using the phone in the Americas, where the GSM and WCDMA bands differ.
ROM wise it matters because even if you're not using the CDMA radio, the hardware is different and the ROMs are designed to reflect that. For day-to-day use in Ireland though, you'll never know the difference between models.

[Q] HTC HD7 3G radio

Hi, I new in this so let see.
I have a new T-mobile HD7, and I just updated to NoDo(telstra).
but What I really wanna know is if I can change the Radio to get 3G with orange in Dominican Republic on the 900 band, right now I only get EDGE.
Phone Info:
Name: HTC HD7
Model: HTC T9296
OS version: 7.0.7389.0
Firmware revision number:2250.10.22002.841
Hardware revision number:0002
Radio software version: 5.65.09.11_22.44.50.15U
Radio hardware version: A.12.0.D4
Bootloader version: 1.54.2250.0(112696)
Chip SOC version: 2.2.5.0
any suggestions or comments are welcome.
software changes won't pick up what your phone cannot see. If the phone's hardware radio cannot see that 3g band, then you won't be able to use it.
them, how can I see which bands my phone can see? because it looks like T-mobile HD7 does't support all the bands that HTC show in the Web.
The HTC HD7 doesnt actually support all the bands of HTC
The HTC HD7 T9295 and the HD7S supports UMTS850/1900/2100
The HTC HD7 T9292 supports UMTS 900/2100
The HTC HD7 T9296, supports UMTS 850/2100
for other UMTS850 high-end devices, see my signature
Best regards

hey, are you really sure that the T9296, supports UMTS 850?
Almost (95%). But u can find this data in some australian forums, such as
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1552579
Your T-Mobile-U.S. HD7 seems to show "T9296" only for the Telstra NoDo Upate (as when you flash your device, the original device information is owerwritten, although the radio bands are not altered, because these are hardware-dependant)
Another fact, is that I´ve NEVER seen TMoUS HTC devices with "T" or "A" nomenclature (such as T9193, A8182...)
If you want to use an HD7 in 3G in Dominican Republic, I Think you must:
-Use an HD7 T9292 (European, including T-Mobile Europe) in Orange D.R.
-Use an HD7 T9295 (American) in Claro D.R.
(or eventually use an REAL T9296 there, but ONLY in case if Claro D.R. uses ONLY 3G-850; and NOT 3G-1900)
-Not Sure for Trilogy, but an HD7 T9295 must work in 3G (if Trilogy has 3G in 1900 or 850MHz)
Best regards
..
Nice to meet you
I'm Fabio from Italia
I have bought HD7 in states.. i follow on XDA the flashing process of the NoDo unbranded ROM:
RUU_Schubert_TMOUS_2.20.841.02_Radio_5.65.09.11a_2 2.44.50.15_NoDo
Now my phone information are :
OS version: 7.0.7389.0
Firmware revision number 2250.10.22002.841
Hardware revision number : 0002
Radio software version : 5.65.09.11_22-44-50-15U
Radio hardware version : A.12.0.D4
Bootloader version : 1.54.2250.0 (112696)
Chip SOC version : 2.2.5.0
i think that all goes OK but now i have a question
Can i flashed to European Version to let my hd7 speak italian language too ??
which rom I must unload ?
Thanks a lot .. Fabio
AT&T HTC HD7S T9295 3G support in European Union
Can I flash radio from european HTC HD7 T9292 to my AT&T HTC HD7S T9295 for UMTS 900/2100 support? (Original radio from AT&T HTC HD7S T9295 supports only UMTS850/1900, so 3G doesn't work in EU)
First question: Why is this thread in the OS-wide forum at all? It belongs in the HD7 forum.
Second, no @simploid, you cannot (or at least should not). The HD7 and HD7S are not the same device; there's enough difference that a ROM for one will not work entirely correctly on the other.
I have an HTC T9295 bought in the US, currently used in India. Im able to connect only through Edge and not 3G. I have tried various operators, still no use. Can anyone suggest me how to get 3G for my mobile. OS is Win 7.5
Use the Connection Setup app on the phone, and make sure you select the right carrier (it may auto-detect, but if it does, make sure it's correct).
Also, be aware that the US version of the HD7, which is intended for T-Mobile US's network, may not use the same 3G bands as your operator. There are at least 4 radio frequency bands commonly used for 3G, but most phones support only a subset of them and most carriers only use a subset of them. If those two subsets don't overlap, then you can't get 3G unless you either switch phones or switch carriers.
Then there's no hope for us to get 3g on htc hd7 if you bought a phone in a different country with different band lol

change gsm bands

hello there
i`m from IL and i want to know if i can change the GSM bands to my location
as i saw a few post on that but iwm dont understan that
thank all
I think the gsm bands are for the network provider (tmo, att, verizon) you cant change hardware.
I assume you mean the data network bands not voice or 2G.
There are 2 physically different phones z710e (most of the world & TMobile US) & z710a (US AT&T). Look at the following and put in your country to check carrier compatibility.

The second post was for a completely different phone.
The first post (I had a quick scan and will look in more detail if I have time) didn't seem to address the issue you have.
As far as I know (happy for someone to shout me down) the HTC Sensation is NOT capable of universal frequencies, it is EITHER:
Z710a (2G GSM 850/900/1800/1900 ----- 3G HSDPA 850/1900) (US AT&T)
Z710e (2G GSM 850/900/1800/1900 ----- 3G HSDPA 900/1700/2100) (US T-Mobile)
That's fixed in the hardware of the phone and can't be changed. As you can see GSM is the same BUT the data side of things is where it gets different, you will always get EDGE as it's 2G.
The Baseband mentioned is flashed as part of the firmware.
The RIL (Radio Interface Layer) is the bit between the ROM and the radio. That will almost universally come with the ROM and will have a pre-requisite radio version that you have to flash separately.
Now if there is a way to change the 3G frequencies I'm sure there are many folks that would like to know how, it'd make the Sensation more universally available and hopefully cheaper in the 2nd hand market.
You haven't mentioned what your exact issue is, what are you trying to change and why ?
you answer me thank u and have a nice day

I was on the phone with HTC last night and according to the tech there the UMTS bands can be changed on the T-Mobile Sensation 4G, but this would require a custom rom. I am not sure if there are any roms out there that do this already.
