In order to apply a theme you need a deodexed rom. You can manually deodex it yourself or if you google I'm sure you can find a stock .340 system file rom or nandroid file to download. Odexed roms are nearly impossible to theme I have seen it on some mdpi devices back in the day but not many.

Hello, I've had my Droid X rooted for awhile and now I realized how much I want to get rid of the stock theme. I want 928Droid's easy deodex theme but it appears that he has abandoned his website. Does anyone know where I can get the theme/deodexer?
A few posts down is a thread called "Themes for Stock ROM - 2.3.340". The first post has a link to a .zip file that will de-odex your phone. I don't think 928Droid's will work with 2.3.340 anyway.
Thank you very much :]

It won't. He stopped updating due to personal issues before that update was released.
If you're rooted, consider flashing Darkslide Rom over at mydroidworld.com
It has a lot of 928's themed elements in it

Deodexed framework/app files for the 3.4.2 GB Froyo release.
Flash the package via clockworkmod recovery (Install zip from sdcard option)
If you have removed apps this will restore them back to stock, so you will need to go in an remove again.
Enjoy!

Sweet!
I am currently running the default T-Mobile UK firmware, I've been more nervous about flashing the Defy than the Magic due to root issues in the new Firmware.
Look forward to giving this a try.
I have searched the forum but couldn't find an answer..
What is the benefit of having deodexed files?
Thanks
I believe it allow's you to custom theme it.
This is the answer I found on the droid x forums.
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-hacks/18275-what-deodexed.html
I will stick to the defaults, as I am trying to determine why the UK version is so much more smoother. But keep up the good work
What jygar says, I also believe it helps with efficiency, however the theory would suggest it would have the adverse effect.
If you look for my frozen eclair thread you will see a link to a good explanation of what deodexing is/does
How I understand it, the only reason for de-odexing a build is to allow for easier modification, i.e. theming. Apart from that, there are no stability/efficiency/performance gains to be had.
As I do not plan to make any such modifications, I'll leave my 'Optimized DEX (ODEX)' files as-is, and not de-Optimize them
Working 100%!
Thanks for your work Higgsy!

This is for froyo, if you are using frozen eclair then I guess you are still on 2.21 or 2.34 eclair rom
Thanks for the files. Works flawlessly.
Hi !
I would like to download this and give it a try...
Can somebody re-upload it ? I can't download it from there.
Maybe a Megaupload link ?
Thanks

What themes from the Desire HD work for the Inspire or what should I look for in a theme to make sure it works?
all themes should be fine. Unless a theme is for a specific rom. just remember you can't flash a theme over a rooted ATT stock rom unless it has been deodexed
When I asked this, it was before all the Desire HD Roms came in the Inspire sectiion. I already flashed the Revolution Rom and now deciding which Theme.
What does deodexed mean?

quick and dirty odex explanation http://www.forceclose.com/questions/2307/what-are-odex-files
in short, a rom in order to be themed has to have these odex files removed and their contents packaged back into the apk file.
if you try to theme an Odexed rom I don't think it will even boot.
so i rooted my inspire but decided i dont really want to put a different rom on because of the sound issues i see going on..that means i cant use any metamorph themes?

Correct. Themes will only work on a de-odexed ROM

I am pretty sure they resolved most of the sound issuse. Android revolution has great sound in my experience with it. It even appeared to sound louder then stock.

Thanks for the explanation. Coming from iPhone, there are tons of terms to learn.

Depends on what you are trying to do specifically. To make things easier I'd flash a deodexed ROM then try to mess around with MM.
Did you ever figure that out?
Do any of you guys have a link to a 100% stock ROM that is flashable via TWRP with root already baked in? I haven't been able to find one as of yet that hasn't had some kind of departure from stock. Most of the ones I have seen have been debloated with various small tweaks. I'm looking for 5.1.1

You know why such a ROM is hard to find? Because unlocking bootloader+booting TWRP+flashing root on a stock rom is pretty damn easy.

Posts like yours should be wiped. You want spoonfeeding. Someone has made a link. I found one in 3mins the other day. What happened with people looking and asking as a last resort? Sorry it just angers me.
