[Q] Cheap WM devices - General Topics

Hey, i think as my first post i should explain myself; I recently bought myself a Compaq ipaq 3630 with pocket PC 2002. That is when i stumbled on to your guy's site , Although i cant find any useful information on a rom kitchen with this device i am not going to give up on it (the battery is dead so i cant store items in RAM). So since i now have an interest in windows CE programming i was wondering if there were cheap windows mobile devices that i could play around with that has a reasonable rom kitchen?

Samsung i900 Omnia should be very cheap now. I'm actually selling mine right now to upgrade. Good phone. There is still development going on with this device but it's dying slowly since the phone is from 2008.
You can find more about ROMs and its kitchens here: http://www.modaco.com/category/368/i900-general-omnia-rom-discussion/

Am I At The Right Place?

I am very interested in the new Daxian PPC phone that is hopefully going to be released real soon by Sprint. Is this the correct place to learn more about this family of devices? I currently have a Treo 600 as well as a Dell Axim X3i. I much prefer the PPC operating system over Palm though and would love to have one device that is PPC based but also a cell phone. I am hoping the Daxian will be this device.
yeah but i dont think too many people have it yet or are willing to replace their current device with it since it dont offer that much of an upgrade in peoples minds
if the fact that too few people have any info to help you then you can read the review of blue angel which is the htc name for it here

Windows Mobile 6.0 on i-Mate SPL Available.

Hi Friends,
I have been following very closely the i-mate SPL for the past few days. I am quite a bit fascinated by the features that this phone offers for the size of the phone.
But after reading a few reviews, I came to know about the problems some of the freinds who already possess this great looking phone face.
Also, it is mentioned somewhere that these problems might go if there is an upgrade to the o/s from Windows Mobile 5.0 to Windows Mobile 6.0
On doing a research over the internet, I landed to one site which is selling this phone with the Windows Mobile 6.0 version.
You can follow this link to see it for yourself:
http://www.sourcinggate.com/product_info.php?products_id=1309
Now, the only concern is that whether this Phone, which is provided with Windows Mobile 6.0 is actually released by i-Mate or is this solely done by the guy who is selling this phone.
I have inquired about this from the guy who is selling but have still not got any reply from him.
And as usual, nothing from the i-Mate Guys.
If any one of you geeks come across that would help me buy this phone or decide against it would be highly appreciable.
Thanks.
Saabir

Need help picking a PDA

Hey guys, I'm new to the XDA-Developers forum.
I would really appreciate some help purchasing my first PDA. Price is my biggest priority. I would prefer something $250 and lower. I need something with Windows Mobile 5 or 6. I would prefer WM6 or one that I can use a pirated copy of WM to upgrade to 6. As I understand it, not all PDAs will upgrade to WM6. I am currently looking at the one below.
http://www.buy.com/prod/hp-ipaq-rx4...-refurbished/q/loc/111/205510063.html#cRevSec
So basically these are the questions I have.
What cheap PDA would you recommend?
Is WM6 worth spending extra money to get?
What improvements are there from WM5 to WM6
Is the rx4240 compatible with an illegal copy of WM6?
I would truly appreciate any and all help.
Looks like a real nice device. I couldn't comment to much on them because I last used WM 2003 then switched to palm with the Treo 650 then bought a palm lifedrive I got an iPhone and now I dropped it for an AT&T Tilt. So far I think WM6 is the best OS out there hands down (debateable but one man's opinion). Do you want strictly a PDA or have you thought about a PPC Phone with WM6?

Windows Embedded Compact 7 the REAL succesor to windows mobile 6.X?

Hey everyone,
I am a long time visitor but this will be my first post.
I was reading and watching various demos of windows embedded compact 7 and I realized that this is the OS us windows mobile users really wanted for our devices (at the risk of making assumptions). A flexible and powerful OS with great windows connectivity. I have seen it run on the Tegra 2 platform but I was wondering if a Snapdragon equipped phone (such as the HD2) could run this OS.
Windows Phone 7 is good but I think its too tied down and not in the spirit of the old Pocket PC days, maybe I am just a nostalgic sod but I remember the feeling of using my shiny new iPaq with a color LCD and being amazed
I am hoping to tap into the community's considerable expertise to answer this one. Also, if technically feasible, maybe we could start the porting process for this already available OS. With Silverlight I am sure many members could come up with innovative and original UIs. The extensibility appears boundless and I think that is what this community loves best.

[Q] CPO WM devices available for VZW?

I've searched these forums and just about everywhere else I could think of for information regarding my question but all I found were bits and pieces and nothing concrete.
I called Verizon today and asked about CPO devices (specifically, WM devices) and the rep I spoke to tried to help me out but I couldn't get much out of her either. What I'm looking for is a HTC WM device available via the CPO program. The only WM phone that she said was available is a Treo Pro (which after researching, wasn't available to consumers before it was retired, only B2B). I've had the 700w and the 700wx and they weren't terrible for their time but I'm not sold on a Treo Pro but the price (149.99) is decent for a no-strings-attached smartphone. I'd prefer something from HTC like the Imagio or the Touch Pro 2 but when I mentioned them (along with their respective model numbers) the CSR responded as if I was speaking another language. Can anyone tell me if there are other WM options available besides the Treo Pro? I absolutely despise the Fathom and WM Standard devices won't cut it. I'm not concerned about cost either.
Before some suggests I look at an Android phone, I don't want one. And before someone then questions why I wouldn't want an Android phone, I've had a few (an Eris, a DROID and an EVO to be exact) and I want to stick with WM for my own reasons related to my Exchange server and things of that nature. Yes, I know Android works with Exchange, just humor me and let me stick with Windows Mobile. Besides, the only [barely] respectable Android CPO available is the original Moto DROID.
If worse comes to worst, I'll check out the Marketplace sub-forum but I'd like to go with a CPO since I can insure it and have a full year warranty on it.
