so i finally got my motorola spice rooted and installed rom manager but i could not find the recovery image for my phone. I read that there currently isn't a recovery image for the phone, but i wanted to post here to make sure if its out or not.
There isn't currently a recovery image for the phone. I am looking howto create one for this phone however I am in need of a recovery.img for the phone. Would you be able to backup your recovery partition and post it online for me??

ROM DUMP - android.podtwo.com/romdump/romdump_v72.zip
Is the link howto create a rom dump of a phone. I need that since I already broke my recovery partition. If you can follow that guide and post it on mediafire or somewhere I would be greatly appreciated!!
BTW Terminal mode is the easiest and can be performed with terminal emulator from market on a rooted phone. If you need to root use z4root works well with the XT300..
If you need any help message me or @linuzo on twitter..
Cheers.
I found this rom dump of my phone on the internet.

2.3 on Spice?
Hey, buddies.
I have this phone too and I'd really like to know if is it possible to wait for a ROM of the 2.3 Android?
Thanks!

yeah, this is a legit spice rom, I was extracted by some guy owning one at mobilicity forums
about the custom rom... maybe we might get something but the phone is available only in 2 countries that I know for now... though the released was supposed to be global
Btw, as a member of the brazilian spice community, the news I got for the phone is that APP2SD is already available for our phones on the stock rom(eclair) using simple terminal commands and scripts, and live wallpapers too
I might post it translated here someway... when I get time for it
Which countries this phone was released?

Hi Guys!
I've also buyed this phone 2 days ago and i am in the same situation. Also is NOT possible to root it with z4root and other tools with the exception of SuperOneClick 1.7 (yes, that version... latest won't work).
Btw, I am from Argentina, so was released here also without a company.
I am just waiting or reading if possible to use ClockWorkMod with this mobile but seems not yet.
Cheers!
I used z4root with success in my Spice.
Hey all, new to this forum. Have done a bunch of reading about Android and the SPICE since I got this phone from Mobilicity a week ago. Successfully rooted the phone using SOC LAST week. Just wondering, any progress on custom ROMs? I'm interested in hacking the thing to try to get Froyo running.

Hi guys,
I just got a Motorola SPICE XT300, but it's the version from China and it does not have Android Market on it.
This might be a really dumb newbie question (sorry!), but how do I install an English-US (or Canada) version of Android WITH Android Market onto it?
So far, I've followed the instructions on z4root and have successfully rooted the phone. I'm just not sure what to do next.
Thanks!

Motorola Fire XT316
Anyone knows about the Fire XT316? It seems to be very similar to the Spice XT300 and will have either Android 2.2 or 2.3. I hope Motorola will offer to upgrade our Spice to 2.3

I rooted mine yesterday using superoneclick 1.7 (not 1.9.5) and selected the rageagainstthecage exploit (not psneuter). I installed some motorola usb drivers first and also had to unquarantine something from the AV software on the machine. When SOC sat at "waiting for device" I toggled the phone's USB debugging option off then on again.
yeah only the 1.7 version of super one click works for the motorola spce. kinda weird
I confirm rooting with SuperOneClick 1.7 using psneuter. I was getting the same output as ricky_613 for a while but I kept pressing "Root" until it eventually got through and rooted.
I need some HELP too, I need a Canadian ROM, most importantly a radio.img file. Can anyone point to one or make one with fastboot off a working phone?
Even better if someone has a Canadian SBF file.
Many thanks!

Hi guys, I have a LG Optimus Chat (LG-C550) and I would like to root but I can't find anything in the web about that new device.. so I hope you can help me in that way!

i don't think so ask the developer
Hi, my LG-C555 is unlocked & rooted and currently runs Android 2.2. I wanted/needed to change the internal firmware so I tried Gingerbreak (1.0, 1.1 and 1.2) but none of them seems to work.
I was able of pushing gingerbreak.apk (version 0, 1 and 2) to the /data/app folder with the USB debugging mode ON and I also have inserted a formated/mounted SD card in the phone.
Then I installed it normally, the installation started but never ended, it stayed in an infinite loop (more than 1 hour)... I had to reboot.
How did you manage to install it properly on yours?
Thank you for your time,
highmighty
Hi all,
The Gingerbreak installation starts on my rooted-network-unlocked LG-C550 but it never ends, it stays in an infinite loop (more than 1 hour)... it finally needed a reboot and unfortunately nothing has changed with the firmware version, it's still Android version 2.2, what could be the problem?
Also, could someone tell me how can I force a flash of the same default "firmware" into it?
I suspect a problem with the installed firmware so that's why I wanted to try Gingerbreak to see if my problem would go away...
Your help is much appreciated!
Regards,
highmighty
@highmighty
It looks like the exploit, which Gingerbreak uses is fixed, you can try to use the Stock-ROM of your phone. There are many other ways out there to root phones. I got my Huawei Boulder rooted with superoneclick, maybe that will do it for you too. If you find a solution please post it here for others.
Best regards

SuperOneClick worked great. Thanks for the advice. I sucessfully rooted an LG C555 from Koodo.
Hi, just a question here. My sister gave me a C550 or C555.
Does the root unlock simlock at the same time, like others devices, or not?
Tried using Super One Click to root this device...
Spent hours tracking down a recovery image (thanks Sebastian404!!)...
Tried rebooting into recovery only to discover that although i thought i had superuser access, i couldn't boot recovery, it just booted up as normally... with rom manager, quick boot and numerous other 'boot to recovery' softwares.
Have tried Universal Androot, z4root, SuperOneClick, and just about every Root software i could find!!
Also need some way to actually install this Recovery image that i've got, as Recovery Manager that Seb404 recommended, doesn't start on device... just repeatedly force closes
Hope someone has managed to do this and might have some time to give me some advice. About to give up trying and just succumb to the evil that is Orange Branding!
Please reply, Rich Addis.
Did you manage to get your phone rooted? I've got this phone also and cannot root the phone when I use SuperOneClick v2.1.1.
SuperOneClick gets as far as starting the ADB server. Then reports daemon started successfully. And then says Waiting for device...
And then it doesn't progress from there even though I've waited for over 5 minutes.
I have enabled USB Debugging on the phone and ensured I have not mounted the SD card.
I've also run the command 'adb devices' in ADB and it doesn't list any devices. Should this list my phone?
Thanks in advance.

I managed to get it working in the end. It'll probably help no one in the future but thought I'd let people know what I did to get it working. I looked in the device manager to see that the drivers for the phone had not been installed (despite Windows telling me via notification bubbles my device drivers had been installed and my hardware was ready to use). I right clicked and chose Update Drivers and then pointed it at the virtual CD drive that is presented when the phone is plugged into the PC. This installed the drivers fully and ADB now listed the device when running the command 'adb devices'. SuperOneClick then worked flawlessly after that.

Hello
Sory for my very poor englsh.
I want to buy this phone, but it is good ?
What about batery, speed ?
Thanks from Corsica (France)
Hi CorsicaBia,
yes this is a nice phone. I love the keyboard, it's not too hard nor too soft, just perfect.
Btw, anyway to root the device from memory card, without using PC? Thanks before.
Very Simple To Root.
The Huawei U8350 is very simple to root as long as you are using the most recent version of SuperOneClick (Currently 2.3.3) You can get it at shortfuse.org
Also, I'm not sure if it is possible to root without using a computer. I'm pretty sure that it is impossible.
This phone is an okay phone. It's not the fastest and only runs Android 2.2.2. The keyboard is nice and the screen is quite responsive.
Good luck guys!

Help Rooting An XT860 too...?
Hi, new to the site. Really liked the video I had to watch before signing up, it put a smile on my face.
So I'm trying to root my bone stock Canadian Bell Motorola XT860 and have been searching the web high and low. I've tried Petes One Click with no results and can been seen in the pics below. I see that others have been able to root this phone but I haven't found where anyone has done it recently and I'm wondering if the recent updates have made it unrootable. If anyone can help me get this thing rooted it would be greatly appreciated! Here is what I'm running into...
I'm trying to do it on my Win7 Starter net book...
Let me know if you need anymore info....
Thanks!
Edit: I tried to post screen shots but I'm to new to do that here is the error messge I'm getting....
SEARCHING FOR THE PHONE (connect it now if you haven't yet)... found!
Running exploit step 1 of 3 (setting up symlink)... done!
Rebooting your phone... done!
Running exploit step 2 of 3 (modifying local.prop)... done!
Rebooting your phone... done!
Running exploit step 3 of 3 (adding su, busybox, and superuser.apk)... FAIL!
ERROR: adb could not be granted root access via local.prop method
Try again from the start, but if the problem continues, check your version
of Gingerbread -- hopefully you don't have a version where this exploit
was fixed.
OK I'm not sure if the op will see this or not but thanks to another member pointing me to this thread... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321582
I now have my XT860 rooted! One freaking click!
Hope this helps others.
Hello!
I'm looking for a privilage escalation exploit for 2.3.6 with a 2.6.35.7 kernel.
What I've tried so far:
* psneuter (latest from git). Fails when run.
* zergRush (latest from git). Fails with error "[-] Hellions with BLUE flames !"
* GingerBreak (ver 1.2.0). I installed it with adb install. When I try to run it, it gives no error, but the wait screen never changes, even after 10 minutes of running.
I've heard that superoneclick can do this, but I'd rather not use a GUI if possible. I tried this anyway and mono does not like to play with it.
I've also tried to compile an exploit called half-nelson which does what I'm looking for, it's for linux kernel versions under 2.6.36.2. It does not like to work with NDK though, it fails to compile.
I was wondering if someone could maybe point me in the direction of a recent exploit that would work with said device? My device is a Samsung Galaxy Tab P1010 (Wifi-only). I upgraded it to android 2.3.6 and I've noticed it's much faster, fixes the sluggishness I saw before with it.
I'm sorry if this has been brought up before, but I just can't seem to find a way to get temp root for this device. I can think of a possible way of getting it rooted, to open up the system partition and add su and busybox to it then flash that. But I just want to know if there's an exploit that could make this work without that.
Any post is greatly appreciated, thanks! Also if I'm breaking any rules at all, let me know, and I apologise in advance if this is the case.
Thanks,
Dragos
As if now u need to downgrade your firmware. It may be possible to flash cwm first then flash a su.zip

yea, downgrade the firmware and use the exploits, it works =) i have root without flashing any ROM =)
Title pretty much says it all. I've tried countless one click root programs with no progress whatsoever. I've spent hours searching and nothing comes up for this phone. Does anyone know a way to root this thing??

same here, a guy who works for kyocera told me that this model cant be put into recovery mode. Any help appreciated
I'm joining the request. As stated above, I've combed the web for anything on it with no success. Is this because of the fairly new release? Or possibly the trouble they're in because of Microsoft?
Either way I feel there should be an exploit out for it by now...
I too am looking fir an exploit for this device, and have scoured Google, Bing, and Yahoo, only to find nothing.

This model (Hydro Wave C6740N) CAN be put into Recovery Mode, using ADB.
Since Windows (edit: XP) USB drivers for the C6740N Wave are not released by Kyocera (yet), you (edit: can) use a Linux or OS X machine to connect using USB, to use ADB on the C6740N. (Since USB connection to C6740N "just works" on those platforms.)
I have used ADB on a Macbook running OS X to reboot my Hydro Wave into Recovery Mode, and performed cache wipe successfully. Also performed backups using ADB.
Kyocera advised (via email) that the Wave can be put into Recovery using Volume Down + Power key combo. Not true, the key combo does not work.
Kyocera also advised (via chat) that the Windows USB driver for any Hydro family device will work for the Wave. Also not true (I tried it). (Edit: I tried the drivers with Windows XP. It looks like the Kyocera Windows USB drivers may simply be USB modem drivers only, on any case.)
OS X or Linux using ADB is the ticket, no USB driver necessary. (Edit: But see other posts about using Windows 10 too.)
I'm also keenly interested in rooting the C6740N, but an absolute noob. The C6740N has a lot going for it, but a few shortcomings that root would enable resolving. If anyone knows of a way to root it, we would be most grateful to hear about it.
Tried about everything else too and nothing works
There's a working driver in Windows 10, but KingoRoot still fails. I almost tried King Root, but it's all in Chinese. I was going to try Framaroot but gave up when the download link resulted in an endless survey loop to win a free $100 Visa card (yeah....... GO F**K YOURSELF). I really want to root this thing. MetroPCS has this thing loaded full of bloatware and the Google BS I never use (google+ MUST DIE) is just eating storage space and what tiny bit of RAM is left. It's a nice phone but the inability to overclock the CPU, delete bloatware, and turn my 4GB SD Card into RAM really leaves alot to be desired.
The phone can be put into recovery using adb on windows.but that's as far as that goes.Cant find any way to root.Hope we get one soon.
So I think we should make a list of what root methods that did not work. That way we wont get hassled of what does not work
Kingo Root: FAIL
Towelroot: FAIL
Framaroot: UNKNOWN
King Root: UNKNOWN (Can't read Chinese)
Could you use a kill file that would reset all data including disabling some things
Root genius fails
King root fails
Kingoroot fails
Iroot fails
Framaroot fails
Towelroot fails
I'm thinking you gotta unlock the boot loader , but I can't put into fast boot mode or boot onto the boot loader for any adb fastboot commands to work. I can get to recovery in adb , and in the recovery menu I select boot to boot loader but it boots normally. I really want to root this thing!!
I just noticed that they're are any way to root the latest lolipop unless your on 5.0.2 ( BTW I checked kingroot and checked the request of our device and its almost to 1000

If he rooted the phone he sent the reply from, he's unfortunately in the wrong thread. The C6530N is the Hydro Life. We're trying to root the C6740N which is the Hydro Wave. Thanks for getting our hopes up.
On the other hand, if he's using the Hydro Life to post in the forum but has successfully rooted the Hydro Wave, we would all love to know just how you did it. My Hydro Wave is running worse than an Alcatel Evolve on the stock setup. We need root badly.
Speaking of root exploits such as Framaroot, see
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/0...droid_users_creates_hijackable_global_botnet/
Which links to the original exposé:
https://www.fireeye.com/blog/threat-research/2015/09/guaranteed_clicksm.html
...which notes that this Android botnet malware uses Framaroot and other root exploits. I wonder if some of these Chinese root exploit tools themselves (Framaroot, Kingoroot, etc.) carry a hidden malware payload.
....
Hi I've tried everything also but I also tried this program for tablets called zuse toolkit & it seems to get something through cause it reboots & optimizes or upgrade apps I'm not too sure which one but if someone out there knows how to modifie the way this zuse toolkit roots then maybe we have a chance of rooting this new phone oh & after it optimizes or upgrades the apps I check for root permissions and it still says it does not have root permissions so yea...
