Hi guys, I want create a quick poll to see what other like more between these two amazing rom's.
There are 3 1/2 amazing roms:

Why? The requestor is making a general request for opinions.
And something like this sure shouldn't be in the "Development" forum.
I think those who want to should answer as asked.
Personally, I think several are good and suggest to new folks that they actually "try" the ones they think they might light -- and choose for themselves. I have been using VegaN for a while x2 if that is considered a vote!!

EDITED: -- Frog said the post was in the Development Forum when he originally questioned it (and as a result I questioned him!?)
Who ever knows what a Frog is thinking?
At any rate, the post is now in the right place. Peace....

I like Vegan more than TnTLite, but TnTLite seems more stable. I'm running TnTLite at this point...

Vegan is nicer I think but it has it's quirks. Sometimes it will just reboot itself. Also after a day of use it almost slows down to a crawl. This could be apps that I have installed, but I never have any issues on my Droid X with the same apps installed.

Currently tnt lite but gonna try vegan again this afternoon. Haven't tried vegan since beta 2 or 3. I imagine there have been some changes...
I had already voted several days ago when using tntlite but as of yesterday on vegan b5. so I guess this would further change the voting.

The same happen to me. Vegan 5 beta is excellent so far!
I was running TnT Lite 3.0 for awhile after getting my G Tab but recently switched to VEGAn b5.1 and I'm loving it. Two things I can think of off the top of my head that I prefer on VEGAn are the pull down notification bar and access to the full android settings rather than the TnT settings.
Really in my experience so far you can't go wrong with either one. The devs behind them have done a great job and I'd like to thank them for making this tablet worth buying.
Agree!

I have my wife's exchange account working in VEGAn beta 5 with the built in "Corporate" account. I could not get K9 or Touchdown to work, but I think that was more because I don't know her proper exchange settings. I was going to try with mine exchange account, but haven't gotten around to it. K9 works great for her yahoo mail and Touchdown 2.0 seemed to run fine otherwise.

Third that. There are more Settings on VEGAn than TnT Lite. TnT Lite settings are the same as TnT, if you like that.

Confirmed- I cannot get Exchange to work with Touchdown. Exact same setup as on my Droid X, but when "Checking ActiveSync with SSL" the "checking" process/window seems to crash (disappears when on the droid X it would coninue and populate with settings/text) and nothing happens after that.

I don't know if it's the right place, I just hope DG can see this.
Anyway, every time DG updates Cognition Rom, we can see him switching from Touchwiz to Stock Launcher, or switching back, for different reasons. The same thing happens to the lock screen.
For example, this time DG removed Touchwiz for its laggy, but someone like me really don't care that little lag, I just think the transparent background of the app drawer is much cooler than the stock one...yeah, maybe I'm a weirdo...
Since nothing can make everyone happy, why not just make two of them at each edition, one is more Sammy and the other is more Stock?
Or take some time to learn how it works and you can put it back in yourself. That's the beauty, imho, of the android. You can make it fit yourself. DG is doin' what rox his sox, he's just offerin' it up to us unwashed masses.
I've gotten to where I can make the phone look any way I want and this is my first android phone. Patience and diligence. You can do it too.
ive pretty much learned how to put everything i like in place. launcher, keyboards, etc. the only thing im trying to learn is how to get my preferred lockscreen into any given rom. Is there anyone who can teach me or point me to some references so i can start learning how to do this.

Running Cognition 2.3b6, gmail pushes, live wallpaper works, etc. I agree the flip flop isn't great, but hey, he is doing this, and he doesn't have to. Until CM 6.1 comes out, I will keep using his ROMS.
Never had those kind of crazy issues with a Cog ROM. I know he has added/removed apps with each rev.
BUT... with that said he has justified each time he has taken a step back.
Plus - it clearly says BETA - meaning NOT A COMPLETED PRODUCT AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE

At any rate, I think VS may still have a shot at this. If they can push the update before the 25th than they might still have a chance. I can even imaging the G-tablet competing with the ipad if they ether A) Fix TnT B)Have a disable option.
Anyways, Viewsonic, if you read this keep up the good for and dont listen to the critics yakking about the screen.
The newest update that Roebeet found yesterday has a disable option for TNT.

Roeby,
Subjective question, but since I am super happy with a nice & stable 2.4, do you think 3.0 is worth upgrading to? One thing I am not thrilled about is losing the ratings stars on apps in the market.
I actually prefer the old market. My Incredible (even though rooted) updated to the new market. Too busy, IMO. Old market is nice & simple. Seems Android is trying for the XBOX look
Any insight on what makes 3.0 worth the jump would be appreciated
Newer Nvidia drivers in the update, as an example perhaps? added: Regardless, I just did a CW back-up and new Titanium update, just in case
This is wonderful! I was a bit shocked by Staples actions and all the rumours, and is good to see VS fighting back!

Not sure if this would save their Xmas sales but should improve their sales next year, I think.
The gtablet would be a good low end tegra 2 tablet next year. That should be their selling point, IMO. However, I do (like I said before) give props to VS.

I went back and forth about the stars, myself. You could just as easily downgrade Vending.apk versus upgrade, and I figured that Google might force the upgrade on you, anyway (they've done that the last two times and it's how I got 2.2.7 in the first place). So I figured the new Market was the way to go.
3.0 does has video improvements, new Maps, TSCalibration hack and of course the SDCARD2 scanning which is a big plus in the new firmware. I think it's worth getting.
Thanks for taking the time to respond to this community, Adam.

I agree. It is refreshing to see a company react to things as they are in the real world instead of the idealization that they had for product conception. I feel like a lot of big name companies would have never acknowledged a "lowly internet forum" as a source for feedback and product insight. Viewsonic earns a lot of kudos for their prompt response to kernal source issues. Even though the original stock is viewed as a fail by most, Viewsonic addressing the issue publicly AND actually releasing updates is very good business.
I feel much happier holding my gtab and no longer wonder if I should be taking advantage of the return window.
Yup, good for VS. As a side note, I was going to buy a panasonic projector, but now I'm looking at VS, because of the positive way they have responded here.

Hmmm...not really enough votes to make me want to switch over from TNT Lite to Vegan but I am interested in seeing which one is most popular. If Vegan voted is better than the rest I may make the switch.
I know I'm a little odd here but I prefer stock TNT. I have used TNTlite and also Vegan and love the speed of those ROMs but for some reason I keep going back to stock. Although, right now I am running that 3d home screen on top of stock... I change alot

I stuck with TNT Lite for sometime as well (due to Vegan declaring themselves to be early BETA). However, after making the switch, I can't ever see myself going back to TNT Lite.

I agree... stock with enhancement (gApps) was good enough to be functional and positioned for a Viewsonic update (if one comes out).
I've stuck with TnT lite through 4.1.0 and love it. I've followed some of the differences with other ROM's, but will stay with TnT until a Dev comes out with Gingerbread or Honeycomb updates. Look forward to the aforementioned list of features for each ROM.
I went from Stock > TnT Lite > VEGAn > Cyanogen > VEGAn
I think i'm going to stick with VEGAn until I see something with Gingerbread then Honeycomb.

"This is a quote from their website:
Just a quick update for everyone so you know where we stand at this point. Because of all the issues I have had trying to reverse engineer fixes into VEGAn, we have decided to move away from the actual VEGA system image. We have decided to move the project to a MODIFIED CyanogenMod 7 (aka Gingerbread) ROM with “inspiration from VEGA”. This will allow us to not only fix issues more easily but our work would also directly benefit the CM7 camp as well. This would give also give everyone the choice of a completely stock gingerbread like ROM as well.
THERE IS NO ETA AS OF YET FOR A RELEASE. When there is one…. you all will be the first to know! Exciting Times Ahead.

Noobie here so please be kind.
I have been reading posts for only a couple of weeks and was wanting to try tnt lite 4.2 but what I can't understand is it really needed after the OTA update. Is there any real advantage? I get the handango market and play "angry birds" just fine. I guess what I am asking is it still worth it?
I have install cwm but just wanted some input before I pulled the trigger.
I have not done it
I am using their stock ROM without any issues for the past month now. Switched to the classic home and it has been working great. Yaa there is no android market, but there are lots of other places to get apps and you can easily side load apps and they have been working great for me! I don't think I will be changing the ROM on mine (maybe if someone gets honeycomb going on it then I might reconsider).
Hope this helps!
I use stock 3588 with the enhancement pack. Stablest I have seen yet. Ran both Vegan and TNT Lite and liked them, but little intricacies caused my to go back. Sounds like there is an OTA in the works that looks pretty sweet.
TnT seems to be cooking up an update that, if released, will add a LOT of the speed enhancements that TNT Lite has had for the last 2 months.
You'd still want a custom ROM for full market, root, adhoc and a few other things - but I agree that TnT is getting better with each update they make. I hope that continues.
I'm also using stock with enhancement pack. Market is still somewhat limited as compared to my Droid 1 but you can side load.
Problem with side loading is the malware. Even GAM has been getting some nasty bugs. TNTlite has been very stable and faster. I ran stock until a week ago.
I just ordered one of these. I didnt do my research until after I bought it. I didnt realize it doesnt have the android market. So, I'm guessing it doesnt have the google apps either??? Like no gmail, youtube, etc?

I like to think of it as a Pinto engine in a Ferrari lol, You just need to swap out the rom with tnt lite or another great rom and you will be juuuuuuust fine. Most of all roms come with market prebuilt in. If you want to stick with stock Viewsonic 2.2... well then IDK what your thinking lol

Roe, MrGuy, Clemsyn, DJ_Steve, Pershoot and all of the VEGA and Adam developers are amazing. This is very much a group effort over at SLD, which shows in the sheer amount of progress made on this port. Honestly, I woke up one morning to version 1.2, the next day to 2.0 and that night 2.1.

I took the plunge and installed this and it looks great. I'm just going through my favorite apps to see what works and what doesn't. I'll update as I know more.
I just tested Video playback and the only thing that works of course is Moboplayer, but it works great, and even works on files that used on play without sound in Vegan 5.1.1 (they now have sound!).
