Sprint HTC Hero Sense UI on CM 6.1 - Hero CDMA Themes and Apps

I love the speed, and flexibility of the CM6.1 stable rom. However, there are some parts of the Sense UI I'd like to have back. For example, HTC sync with Outlook. I do not want to pay for the third party software for that. Is there any way this can be done on the CM6.1?

As of right now, THIS is probably the closest thing you'll get to having a sense 2.2 rom

Yea, I don't know if this rom is stable enough yet. I'm really just a end user not in the dev business. I like CM6.1 just wanting some (not all) sense back. Sense by itself is stupidly slow.

I can't link it atm(on phone), but there is a sense mod for cm6 that I have injected to the latest stable cm. Just search my posts.

Its hard to find any left overs of sense. Almost all developers frown upon it for its speed. But some aspects I still like. Im waiting for webOS rom. (For kicks)

As far as I know, Sense apps only work on Sense, without exception.

Yes it is, but I don't think you can just install it over the final, injecting it works, but installing it causes boot loops as far as I know.

Here's that sense based mod injected to 6.1 final.
http://www.4shared.com/file/dHkLxhDV/themed-update-cm-610-Heroc-sig.html
I take no credit for this, just injected and re-posting since it's been asked for.
All props go to mrinehart93 of course for all of his work with the theme, all I did was inject it, so thanks to ASimmons for the injector also.
There is also a mod to use with Launcher Pro that makes the home screen look like sense also, it is all pretty easy to setup.

Buffed

So has anyone got any working themes for Buffed ROM? I have searched through threads and posts and have found nothing? Sorry if this has been answered anywhere else... And if so, just want to see what people are using. I like the BlackMod theme for Darchstar, just don't know if it will work with Buffed even though they're both the same kind of ROM.

Alright thanks for the info
Its not buufed anymore..its cSrOm. buufed is the name of the theme.so now you see the conundrum that lies before us.Its almost like searching for the fabled unicorn or bigfoot....or you possibly could fall into a worm hole and be trapped between space/time. You are very noble in your quest, but i see only evil and deception in your midst.
im sure noone here has made a theme for a theme,...but it never hurts to ask....
you can change it up a bit in the settings and UI...i got a lil tired of it too, and a new wallpaper and some tweaks later, and a new clock.

Buufed is 100% AOSP ... I would try an AOSP-based theme, like Darchdroid. You can theme it with anything that works on Cyanogenmod 5.0.8.

Really? When did that happen? According to the changelog it is based on fresh 2.1.2 which is not AOSP...I must have missed something.
yep, csrom is 100% aosp, has no sense in it. pretty much a themed version of darchdroid 2.8
i would like to say it happened latter half of july, but not sure
CsRom comes stock with the buuf theme but through the updater you can download multiple different themes to get arid of the buufed look completely.
PlagaDeRock is correct. There are themes available via CSUpdater in the ROM.
If you want to check them out see the Theme thread which should be updated soon.

HTC Sense LWP port 1.0 RC1 1-13-11

This is pretty awesome with Sense widgets.
This is a Hero Sense port of LWP support within Sense from freshes release on the legend section.
Minor changes for stability on our phones.
Minor bugs are being worked on as well. Like some lwp FC
New rosie frame with weather animations supported.
OC kernel recommend.
Must be running a HTC 2.1 sense Rom for now rooted.
Flash zip in recovery.

The only LWP that worked for me was Maps. All the other LWP's on the list wouldn't load at all. So, I then wiped data and cache and loaded NFX-Sprint.STOCK.2.32.651.2.ODEX.A2SD again and flashed OverClock-691_Bootimg.691.ondemand.zip for it, and then flashed this Sense_Rosie_Hero-LiveWallPapers-MOD-1.0rc1.zip in recovery. I get the same results with any live wallpapers on 2.2 ROMs as well as 2.1. Barely any work. Maps works but is slow and a battery drain. I had a Matrix one working once, but that too wasn't worth the battery hit. I don't even bother with LWP anymore.

Best ROM

I'm new to inspire roms. I have rooted my phone with bubbys one click root and I was wondering what the best rom was? Also how do you even flash a rom?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
There honestly isn't a best rom. Every one has their own preference, you will just have to flash them and see which one you like the most.
There is a sticky at the top of this section [guide] check it out.
The one with the bigger gb's
Theres alot of sense ROM and alot of nonsense ROM. Try cm7. IM using that one and its wonderful. To flash you copy the zip file to the root of your sd. Dont extract it. Open up ROM manager and click install from SD. I think it says that. Then check wipe data and it will install and reboot

Xaviier didn't really tell u how. Do a nandroid using rom manager. And I switch between two roms as of now. Coredroid and miui. Coredroid gives a great themed version of gb 2.3.3 (gingerbread) layered with the sense ui. Now I like the stripped rom miui due to pure beauty and interface avaliability. Not di11 and Lee I'm not dissing y'all, yalls roms are next. I simply use a rom and a few updates and allow it to settle in,then switch. I plan to use every rom to experiment speed tests,ui speed, etc. Its up to u to decide which to stick with. Imo flash a rom,fix the settings and customize any way u want. Then do a nandroid (back up using rom manager) and flash another. If a bad flash happens or u don't like the next rom, just restore. Who knows u may love more than 1

Try Ingersoll!
IknowIknow...that's like my goto answer...why not...its my goto ROM.
But seriously...if you want speed, quick response and stability...I recommend Ingersoll or dilligaf's sense ROM...both of those ROMs light up my phone.
It depends what you want in a ROM:
If you like Sense and you want to overclock, then I would go for di11igaf's ROM.
If overclocking is not important, I would go with RCMixHD 5.9 (the gingerbread version).
If Sense is not for you but you're interested in an iPhone(ish) kind of feel or you want to be able easily choose from a heap of themes then give MIUI a try.
If you're after a vanilla android flavour, go for CM7.
I generally go back and forth between RCMixHD and MIUI although I'm trying out CM7 to see what kind of battery life I can get (going camping this weekend).

If you don't need Sense, at least try MIUI, if for nothing else than to know what it's like. I've done a lot of the rest, came back to MIUI because it's so damn smooth and crazy fast. It's really outside the rest of the group, but it's CM7 based. Granted, it looks a lot like the iphone at first, but if you add a launcher it's more like you are used to.
That said, if I wasn't using MIUI I'd be using dilligafs, it's pretty slick. Haven't tried coredroid yet.

I meant that even though the keyboard looks small, it is super fast and super accurate. It reminds me of typing on an iPhone 4 which is IMO one of the best touch keyboards in the market.
I also really like the ability to alter the long press duration. I know a lot of keyboards have this feature, but it is really important to me. It makes entering passwords much easier. Currently have mine set to 175ms so I barely have to stop to enter a number.

Don't mind at all. In the post I even mention that I may not be able to keep it up to date, so I'm totally cool with anyone else updating it, making changes, mods or whatever.. as long as I can find links to it just in case I wanna put a modified one on my phone.
I think I might stick with this instead of going the route of modified ROMs (MIUI ports) until those builds get official. The phone works SO much better with a modified Sense build.
I want to try to modify the MIUI Launcher to have a 5x4 layout, but I can't remember how to compile the apk after you modify it. It's been a while, so I can't really remember all the steps for using apktool on a Mac. Whenever I go to install it, the app doesn't install so I'm doing *something* wrong.
We need more support for these ROMs for the Sensation

You can either flash the attached zip (untested, someone test it for me!), or push the attached SystemUI.apk to /system/app/SystemUI.apk.
MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP! Just do it. Always. It's so much easier than having to recover from a bad flash or something.

From the code I've looked at on Sense 3 ROMs, they typically define whether something is Sense 3 or 2 compatible. So in a real-world example when you're looking at Rosie it has two completely different implementations between 2.1 and 3 and they're both there in the code base. There was no such distinction with quick settings
Dumb ranting aside, I don't see a reason why it won't work on a Sense 2.1 device running Gingerbread. Shoot me over your SystemUI.apk and I might be able to port it. No promises, blind developing sucks

So, I think it IS possible, but it would take quite some time to go through and merge all the changes and match up all the IDs. I don't have the time or patience to do this as it takes a long time to communicate back and fourth for one single change, or error, etc etc.
Maybe an experienced smali hacker from the HD2 can port it over?
