So I updated my gtab to the latest OTA firmware, new unit purchased yesterday. I cannot get clockwork mod to run/install. Followed all the steps (power + volume) and it shows something loading (as the directions state), but then it just proceeds to boot the stock OS. It won't boot into clockwork, or shows no sign that it was installed. I tried to load a rom, and it does the same thing. Is the newest firmware locked? Am I to do something before loading clockworkmod? Do I have to root or something? None of the guides mention anything.

Already went through that, the name of the files isn't the problem (they are correct as shown in the FAQs), it doesn't appear to be installing clockwork on the new firmware.
It brings up a screen with a loading bar for a minute then boots into stock (picture of box with down arrow). Upon reboot, it does not go into clockwork, it will just reboot, and load stock. Has the new update broken something? Using clockwork v8

there is nothing wrong with the hardware/software
I too, just recently bought this tablet. I let it do the ota update and was actually quite impressed with it. It is responsive and fast, but I hated the fact that there was no market access. My point is that I was able to put tntlite 2.2 on here.

It is what I used the first time I flashed a gtab an I still use it for reference.
Good luck
yes i am following that but i cant get it to boot into clockwork
Did you automatically update your tablet as suggested by Viewsonic? If so, you probably updated to build 4349 and the new 1.2 bootloader, and it's not compatible with CWM.
I ran into the same thing with a friend's tablet Sunday. There are ways to "downgrade" back to the 1.1 bootloader outlined elsewhere on this site, or you can consider ROM's based on the 1.2 bootloader (google mountain laurel ROM).
.
.
4349 has not been available from Viewsonic for quite some time.
It didn't install. Usually that's because the files are not in the proper location. There are two different installs for CWM, one for internal and one for MicroSD. Make sure you're putting the files in the correct location for the install you downloaded and that there is a command file in the recovery folder that points to the update.zip file.
Right first off, I haven't searched the forum as I'm not exactly sure as to what to search for as I dont know the exact problem.
I want to flash a new ROM on my sensation and this was very easy to do on my old Desire. So what I did was:
1. Followed the tutorial to turn S-OFF - Done.
2. Followed Step 2 to install recovery. Put the file into my SD card but then the instructions weren't clear as I couldn't see any options to click Accept as the guide said.
3. Downloaded the Android Flasher app. Did these options:
- Chose sensation from the menu.
- Downloaded Radio "HTC-RIL 2.2.0169HMQ" and clicked the box.
- Clicked the Recovery box and chose the Recovery file I had put on my SD Card originally.
- Clicked Bootloader and chose "MIUI.us_pyramid_1.11.18_Eng_Deo_ZipA_Signed_TwinDragons"
- Chose my own splash screen.
4. Then I clicked flash and everything was ok. Phone booted into Hboot and the program said complete.
5. I rebooted the phone and the splash screen loads then.....nothing.
I was then unsure what I have done wrong. I tried rebooting several times to no success so I wiped the phone and installed MIUI again via the SD card but to no avail. I can still access ClockworkMod Recovery but thats it. Any help would be mucho apreciated.
I am new to android as well but what i understand from your situation is you flashed the radio wrong . Don't worry your device isn't bricked try re flashing radio VIA ARHD recomended ... I may be wrong but if I helped you out hit the thanx button below
Cheers for the help saddist. Will have a go at this when I'm home as I'm at work the now. I thought that the radio was purely for...well as the name suggests the phone's radio.
Appreciate you taking the time to help as it's a bit of a pain not having access to a phone.

I don't quite get what you've done. Did you try and flash a ROM using Android Flasher? If so you need to walk away and do some serious reading as you WILL brick your phone if you continue

I would have done this at first but, before using the Anroid Flasher app, I did not have access to cwm. I have since tried formatting the phone in cwm and installing from sd card but again, it just hangs after the splash screen. I also downloaded Bulletproof 1.4 to see if applying a Sense ROM had any effect - but again it stalled after the splash.

Yeah your correct Eddy, as my post above states, I turned S-OFF - got a bit stuck and then seen the ANdroid Flasher programme. I thought, smashing problem solved.
You are correct, I do need to do some more reading with the looks of it. On the desire, a programme did all the stuff for you. It seemed to me that the Android flasher was the same.
Where to start reading, I'm a bit unsure as I have a phone which is not booting. I'm not looking for everyone to do all the work for me, but if someone could give me a gentle push where to start in order to get this working again that would be great.
Meanwhile I'll do as you say Eddy and do some more reading.
Thanks everyone for your help. I got it sorted by flashing CWM manually this time and it flashed the ROMS so that they would work. Must have been flashing them wrong somehow but still managing it without errors.
Anyway, again I appreciate you taking the time to help.
Hi, i`ve owned an infuse for a couple months now and i`m loving it. I bought it off somebody and it came pre-rooted. Superuser was working great, i was running rooted apps and everything was pretty awesome. However, i`ve just recently wanted to try something new. Such as flashing a new rom. I downloaded the zeus rom (i also have others), went into rom manager and tried to install. That didn`t work. So i tried to manually boot into clockworkmod recovery and install. That didn`t work. I think the main problem is how do i get into clockworkrecovery? Whenever i boot into it i lack very many options that i keep seeing from others. Everytime i try to boot into it it says
Copying media files
Successfully copied meida files
Manual Mode
Appling Multi-CSC
Installing Multi-CSC
can't access to system/csc/RWC/system/
Successfully applied multi-csc
and the options are
Android system recovery <3e>
Samsung Recovery Utils for BML
Enter: Power Key, Select: vol up/ vol down
reboot system now
apply update from sdcard
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
Everytime i try to apply update from sdcard it says:
Failed to verify whole-file signature
Installation aborted.
I can't remember all of it but you get the just of the idea
I can't seem to figure this out and i dont think this is clockwordrecovery. I've tried various methods of rebooting using the CWM app, Rom Manager app, and the button pressing.
All i want to do is flash a new rom! Can anyone help?
P.S. It isn't a typo when i put "Successfully copied meida files", they actually spelt it meida.

You don't have cwm recovery yet.
Don't use ROM manager.

yes..follow gtg's CWM instruction set
So. I already started with the odin UCKD5 one. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092021
and i already started into download mode. However, it now says downloading. and my computer was like "installing new hardware" then "could not install new hardware" and now my phone is stuck in the downloading screen that says do not turn off target. Odin has yet to pick up my phone....what now?
if you have root you can flash a cwm enabled kernel with sgs kernel flasher.
if you have froyo use the defuse or community kernel. or use gtgs thread for cwm without flashing a kernel.
if you have gingerbread then you will need to flash one of the custom kernels such as entropy dd, hellraiser, or infusion. gtgs cwm thread will not work on gingerbread.
My phone is rooted and running on gingerbread. But um. i have a more pressing concern at the moment....this downloading screen is freaking me out...
okay well i can't seem to figure any of this stuff out. any noone has replied so i just reset my phone so i can actually use it.
Some more information for those who can help is that the firmware is 2.3.3
Baseband version is I997RUXKG3
Kernel version
2.6.35.7-I997RUXKG3-CL366622
Build number
Gingerbread.uxkg3

that's Rogers firmware. use kernel flasher (easiest) and flash one of the popular gingerbread kernels. entropy dd is popular. once the kernel is on there You will have red cwm. that will allow you to flash whatever.
if you flash a rom it will include a kernel so don't worry about the minor incompatibilities that exist with att based roms.
So i'm currently on this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1212795
with this in the other tab
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1289460
I'm not sure which kernel to download. But i'll try flashing a couple anyway
also i tried using heimdall/odin or whatever. It wouldn't pick up my phone in download mode. and thus couldn't install drivers.
well. I tried flashing one of the kernels. specifically
DD_02162012_A.zip - [Click for QR Code] (5.16 MB, 118 views)
So i flashed it using SGS kernel flasher. it said flashing....rebooting. And now it's stuck at the rogers logo. I have no clue what to do and i think it might be bricked. So if i could get someones help, perhaps step-by-step as i obviously cannot do this following the other instructions.

You are stuck in bootloop. Not bricked or even close to it. Read infused rom and flash it. If you cannot figure that out you should not be flashing. It's dead simple. Promise. Search it. It's in the dev thread. Called infused by gtg

sigh. so i downloaded the files from someone who uploaded it again. Did everything. Succesful. only to have it be stuck in bootloop and samsung screen. Did what it said. pulled battery, replace, vol buttons and power key until recovery shows up. That doesn't happen. Instead i notice that instead of a rogers screen it says at&t and then goes to samsung screen. and then restarts again by going back to at&t. If i let go of the buttons it goes back to begin stuck at the samsung one. This has made so many problems for me.... just by trying to get clockworkmod. what do i do now?

You really should read up a bit. If you looked toward the end of that thread,
you will see that the file has been uploaded by another user to another site:

Download the drivers for the phone on the computer. If it does not work then, try heimdale. If you can not do this, then just ask me for the jtag guy, ill give you the link to the website. Mobiletechvideos uses jtag to recover the phone (taking it apart, hooking it up with a ton of wires lol). Keeps personal data, just recovers rom, or you can pay a little extra for him just to install whatever rom. It worked for me, you may have a broken usb controller like me all of a sudden.
I have kies but when i start it up it says please connect your mobile phone. And it doesn't pick up my phone. It probably shouldn't seeing how my phone is stuck. But i went to menu in kies and pressed install driver. But i'm not sure how to download my exact driver if kies can't even pick up my phone. But i ran the "zazig" program. and i'm installing the drivers from there. And i'm going to attempt to reflash using that since Odin didnt work before. The link is this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331381
And it did that. But i don't what to do. I've been on xda reading forums all day and the only thread i can see relevent to mine is someone advising them to bring it back under warranty. Mines rooted. no warranty for me. I hope if it ever works again i can use it on rogers still because it says AT&T.....and i'm afraid to try and unlock it. because we know the last time i tried to do something.....
Odin can still detect it and i tried reflashing the unbrick stuff. No dice.
Hello, I have a Motorola Defy which i have rooted and installed clockworkmod on it. I tried to install Cyanogen mod 7.1 from the website. The phone got to the boot screen where it continued to cycle through it thing and nothing more. I restarted the phone and now it gets stuck at the first screen where its says "google". I tried to enter recovery again (power + volume down) and clockworkmod is completely gone. I want to go back to the stock OS so it atleast works again. Ive tried using the update.zip option in the stock recovery mode but I keep getting an error "failed to verify whole-file signature" when using a signed copy of cyanogen mod. I also tried putting my backup in a zip with the same error. Ive even tried formatting my sd card. What do i do?
I was more or less where you are around June or so. I'm no expert by any means, but perhaps I can help. If memory serves I used a program called RSD Lite to flash it back to the stock unlocked rom I got from the "bl7 finally rooted" thread - if you unlocked a different way, I'd try to find your original rom.
Once you get to where you understand how to get back to stock it makes the whole thing a lot less scary, or it did for me. Once you get back up and running, try flashing Whiterabbit. I didn't have luck getting anything else to run, but that one worked the first time I tried it, and I'm very happy I persevered. Miles better than the stock OS.

I cant use the program as my phone doesnt get detected when connected to my pc.
OK, lets start with the basics, if I can remember it right... Have you used RSD Lite successfully before this? Drivers installed? Using bootloader mode? If any of this is unfamiliar go hit the beginner's thread - if you have done all this you may be beyond my help and in need of someone a bit more experienced.

Hi,
I've come here as last resort, been trying to upgrade to Androwook 2.2 but always getting stuck in bootloop on Asus load screen. I'll try and be as detailed as possible concerning what I've already tried, but please bear with me as I'm quite a beginner with Android;
I'm currently running Androwook 2.11 on my TF700, but I'm getting some small issues such as frequent Google Play crashes and random restarts, it's livable but I wanted to upgrade to 2.2, which seems to have quite a lot of fixes compared to 2.11.
My Infinity is unlocked and rooted, I've done a complete nandroid backup using TWRP 2.6. which I pushed using ADB/Fastboot method, but there is something I don't quite understand; when I boot into bootloader using volume down and power buttons, I only see 3 icons, the USB icon is missing from the lot. Message on the top left says "Key driver not found... Booting OS, Android cardhu-user bootloader <1.00 e> released by "ww_epad-10.6.1.14.4-20130329" A03, Satrting Fastboot USB download protocol". Funny thing is that running the "adb devices" command from my Windows 7 Ultimate PC results in a blank "List of devices attached" message, but when running the "fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash recovery twrp.blob" it actually flashes the device correctly. Furthermore, when running "adb devices" while booted into the OS, the device is recognized but indicated as offline. Is the fact that I'm not seeing the USB icon in bootloader a problem or is it ok as fastboot still seems to work?
Anyway I download and copy the "13683789011409181222_Hairybean 2.2".zip file to my external SD card, follow the full instructions as indicated on the official Androwook XDA thread, installation is successfull but on reboot I always go into the Asus logo bootloop. I've left this running for about 30 minutes with no success, the Rom just doesn't boot up.
So I started searching the forums for solutions and tried what I could find; found some guys saying that checking the "Install custom boot animation" box during the Androwook setup before the installation seemed to have gotten them out of bootloop, but didn't work for me. I've of course tried to redownload the Hairybean 2.2 zip file thinking that it might have gotten corrupted but 3 different download locations and still no success.
I'm thinking that pushing Androwook 2.2 via ADB/Fastboot might help, but I'm not quite sure of exactly how to do that, anyone think it's worth a try?
I can't list exactly everything I've tried to get this working as I've been trying for about a month now, but believe me, I've spent a lot of time searching and trying, to no avail. So I would really appreciate it if someone could take the time to accompany me to Androwook 2.2, back to 2.11 and really getting frustrated now
Thanks in advance!

I can only shed a tiny little light on your problem since I am not familiar with Androwook.
JB 4.2 defaults to fastboot mode if and when you boot into the bootloader. So in 4.2 you only have the icons for recovery, Android and Wipe Data.
To use ADB you have to be booted into the rom. Actually, I have read with the correct drivers yo can also use ADB in recovery, but I have never tried that myself.
Just ignore the 'key driver not found'. Every TF700 displays that message when you boot into the BL.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using Tapatalk HD
AndroWook 2.2 works fine on my TF700 and technically it should on yours. It shares the same base as CROMi-X 4.x. Have you tried CROMi-X to see if it boots?
I think flumpster recommended you do a clean install for AndroWook 2.2 as well have you tried that? Also which bootloader are you on? I'm reluctant to recommend TWRP 2.6 just yet as users have reported some problems with it, so I'd also recommend you drop back down to TWRP 2.5.
Thanks for your replies, I was beginning to despair when I saw that my post had 35 views and no replies
@berndblb: Thanks for that confirmation, at least I can stop searching in that direction, it's just that most tutorials, even recent ones, indicate the USB icon, I guess there musn't be many of us on TF700 running JB roms.
@sbdags: nope, haven't tried CROMi-X yet, will do when I get home after work tonight if you think it's worth it, thanks for the tip. Concerning the clean install I've already tried if you mean completely wiping Internal memory via TWRP. I just haven't wiped the SD card as it was containing the rom.
Concerning the bootloader I thought I had given the version in my first post (Android cardhu-user bootloader <1.00 e> released by "ww_epad-10.6.1.14.4-20130329" A03), isn't that it? I know the bootloader could be an issue as originally I installed it with a pack destined to the TF300, that might be something I could try, but which bootloader shoul I install and what is the best method for installing it? If that isn't my bootloader version where can I find it?
I know what you mean with TWRP 2.6, I'm ususally also very carefull with new versions, but have same issue on TWRP 2.5 and 2.4.4 (in fact most of my failed attempts were done on 2.4.4), haven't tried lower yet.

Do me a favour go to my CROMi-X thresd (linked in my sig) for the TF700 and download and install the bootloader and recovery package for your SKU. This will give you a working bootloader on 10.6.1.14.8 and TWRP 2.5
Then we can take it from there.

It'll be done tonight as soon as I get home, thanks for your time, I'll keep you posted ASAP.
Well, your advice worked; thanks a lot! Only thing is that Androwook still won't install but your Rom does, I'm busy testing it at the moment to see if it suits me, might stay on it, so far so good (well done for that work!)
Downloaded the 10.6.1.14.8 WW Bootloader and TWRP 2.5.0.0, dropped it on my SD card and flashed it via Recovery. I immediately tried to flash Androwook again after the successfull installation of the bootloader and recovery, but same thing happened; bootloop on ASUS screen. One of the things I haven't tried yet is to Wipe Cache/Delvik after the Rom installation, before the reboot to the actual Rom, could that make a difference?
Noticed two things when installing the above package via TWRP though; you say the install should last about a minute, on my device in 20 seconds it was done, blue bar just progressed in two phases; once until halfway and full almost 10 seconds later. In TWRP, after each message during the installation process I'm getting a "Done" line, but on the last command, which is "updating partition details", I'm not getting the "Done" confirmation, it just stays on that last line. Same when I click the top right icon (right of "back" and "home" buttons buttons on TWRP Home screen); it starts updating partitions but freezes right there, have to restart tablet with power button to get back in Recovery. Could there be something screwed up in my partitions?

Sorry should have said don't flash the bootloader package and rom at the same time.
Not sure what is going on with the freezing. It doesn't sound quite right. Sorry I don't know the fix.

Absolutely no need to apologize, you helped me out man, thanks^^
When I said immediately I meant after a reboot, might not be an android expert but I know that rebooting after each process is strongly advised
Anyway, point is; TWRP 2.5 and bootloader are correctly installed (I can do without the partition thingys I guess), and your Rom seems fine and stable, so I'm all fixed basically, I'll just try to avoid flashing new Roms on this tablet, might be a hardware issue.
Another nub question to finish; what is the officail way of marking this thread a solved?
Edit: Just donated a couple of bucks to your account, Rom really seems stable, haven't had a single issue yet, thanks again!
