Just read over on the tab fourm.
Samsung has a new tab bootloader that pervent the downloading of rom bootloader or installing any rom without a special crc code that is signed by samsung.
This is not on the captivate or the i9000 just a warning not to flash any lowlevel roms.
P. S. Dont have a link not at my computer.

This is a very effective way for Samsung to alienate a good portion of their supporters in the Android arena. Is it because devs here can fix problems theirs can't?

my sentiments exactly, when i bought this phone there were articles all over, even the att reps were told that it would soon update to froyo...big selling point. now samsung says it may affect sales of their newer products too much to give us a real froyo. seriously, i'll never buy samsung again, that includes their other products and I was always a big fan of samsung TVs
It's not just Samsung, HTC, Motorola, and Sony Ericsson are have locked bootloaders or will in the near future. I say get used to it.
Fear not I'm sure this too shall pass... imean be hacked

Hey guys, this is my first android device, but I do have some experience with software development. Is there anyone who could post some guides, tutorials, links, or downloads on developing for this phone? I believe that we could have a lot more material if we have more competent developers, so please help out. I will update the OP to include provided links or downloads.

Welcome to Android and goodluck with your InFuSe!
I myself was always a Windows Mobile guy up until almost 3 years ago when i got my 1st Android device, an HTC Supersonic aka EVO 4G. Since then its been down hill, very similar to a bad bad Crack addiction, with ROM Flashing as my temporary fixxx.
I like my InFuSe(s), hopefully one day i'll love my InFuSe(s). My only complaint is that it is too new and there is too little going on with the device. Thank god my HTC Desire HD aka Inspire 4G keeps me on my feet and flash-happy, but instantly i miss that HUGE Super AMOLED Plus display and must go back to a bone-stock device.
I bought a 2nd InFuSe to have as a side by side testing device and / or to donate to the right MIUI dev to get us on the MIUI boat and later found out that we need to get CyanogenMod going before we have a chance at MIUI...
Again, good luck with your InFuSe and with Android. I have a lil sayin: "Don't worry, your not gonna break it unless you throw it, frustration is a bicht!"
You should totally think more about donating your extra infuse to a cyanogen mod dev so we can get that ball rolling. That would definitely get some more stuff going on with this phone.

I'm sure most of you know the HTC Wildfire-S right...? Unfortunately...XDA is promoting it..and some devs are attempting to port ICS on it.. T.T I wish someone can speak to this matter and at least cheer me up...
Sigh, why did I didn't saw this post earlier.. anyway he's right guys, at least some of us should try and take a look with the ICS ports and see if there's something the devs can do and help, it's about helping guys. You're not alone.
Yup god dammit you are right. Our device is a lot better but due to the fact that samsung didn't. Promote our device we have this situation in our hand. Plus we do not have many developers for out devices.

Pretty sure that's not official, from Samsung. Still though, I'd take a custom ROM over the official Samsung version any day.
No one ever said it was an official ROM from samsung, original post said "actual ICS rom that was developed for the Samsung Vibrant". Key word being Developed
Its pretty sweet actually. But the phone I flashed it on was just a friends wifi only play phone (he uses a sgs2) so I couldn't say how it works for everday use.

The Skyrocket is not the International Galaxy S2!!!! Seriously, we've had more threads than I can count of people saying "ICS coming soon to the Galaxy S2", but no one seems to realize that I727 does not equal I9100....
I appreciate the effort in finding this, but please don't try and flash this, you will undoubtedly brick your phone beyond repair.
Thanks. Again that's why I included the Not Sure on the title post. Just thought this would be something of interest to the forum.

muhhaaaahaaaaa, awesome, but odin is officiel from samsung and not for flashing new beta or so.normaly its for the phoneshops/repairshops.so can a phone with software fail, thats saves money because it can direct on repairshop/market...with a new flash go back to life.and the owner is happy.so its not necessary to sending its to samsung, than you have to wait 2-4 weeks then send back to Repairshop, many millions of peoples using samsung, thats a lot of shipping costs and for the repairman by samsung too for his hard work and this for 3minutes flash.believe i have ask in chat with german servicecenter.greeeeeetz
I figured that it had to been an official Samsung software. It minds me of the Motorola software that got leaked years back. I can't remember the name of it. I used to flip with nextel i930 (classic my 1st smart phone ever. I wish that made smart phone clam style again) with it.

There is a connection to the mythology of Odin and the name. Not sure how it all breaks down, but Heimdal is the Mac version of Odin. Heimdal is the gate keeper of Asgard.

To me, it makes sense that Samsung made this but I dont think it's for Samsung. I think Samsung developed it for repair shops and such as someone else suggested. I agree Samsung devs shouldn't need a straight forward gui. Butttt then again, this is why I asked and it seems that odin magically showed up and we have just been getting updates ever since. If we dont know where the origin, maybe the source of updates might get us somewhere.
