i have google maps inserted in my tablet and when i write i name of a street he finded but i always use the internet.
I would like to use the gps true the satalite. it is possible???????

Hey! First u may need to check your settings to see if your settings gps is enabled. Once you do that you shouldn't have a problem. Android devices generally come with Google maps and navigator. Look for the navigator icon on either you home screen or in your market place. The app should be a free app in the market place. But like I said, check your settings make sure gps is enabled and then look for the navigator icon its the blue arrow and says navigator underneath. Hit that, enter your destination and go. Which android device do you have?

thanks for helping me.

[APP REQ] Rhapsody beta apk wanted

Hi,
I hope this doesn't violate the forum rules, but would it be possible for someone to post the rhapsody beta apk for Android? Don't have access to it in the market currently and would like to test it out.
Thanks in anticipation!
I wold be interested as well. It does not show up in the market on my TMobile MyTouch running Android 1.6. I can't understand how market search results could possibly vary (i.e. makes no sense why I can't see the app in the market, but that someone else would - and rhapsody did confirm that it shows up for them!).
thanks,
brian

Sorry if this has been discussed more recently elsewhere, but I have the 1.2.6.2 apk and it lets me login but says "update required" whenever I try to play anything.
Can someone please upload the 1.2.10.40 current version?
Much appreciated!
1.2.10.40 please?
Is bumping okay?
I too would be *really* grateful if someone could post the latest rhapsody .apk.
FOUND
Can't believe it was right in front of me this whole time!!!
http://labs.rhapsody.com/android
Enjoy!!
To get it working in AU I had to turn off mobile data\wifi, open the app, hit menu and then home screen out of the app, turn on data, open app and it resumed at the menu where I could login.
Trying to open it without having logged in with data gave a "not available in your region"

[Q] Navigation App Hangs?

So far the Nexus S has been great - except for one niggling problem. The Navigation App just sits there at checking navigation availability. Anyone else seen this one? I only saw it once before with a custom kernel on an EVO
Had the same problem so i went into the app manager uninstalled updates an when to market an updated maps but now the problem im having is the navigation is searching for gps an thats it
Same problem here
Navigation has been working fine for me without a single hiccup. Have probably used it 20+ times so far.
Same problem. And it was perfect one nexus one

I just had this issue on my brand new MT4G
Here's how I fixed it
goto market, goto Maps and uninstall any updates
turn on GPS
turn on google maps
when it asks if you want to turn on WIFI, do it (don't have to even have a wifi network)
Load Navigation, it should work
Close everything, then goto Market, upgrade your google maps
Open google maps again, hit ok on new version info, should show location
load navigation
should work now
I had to take some various instructions from all over the web and alter it somewhat
hope it helps
Thanks just tried it works perfectly

[Q] The Maps app in Xoom Commercial??

Probably a dumb question, but what app is that in the Motorola commercial for the Xoom with the buildings displayed in 3d? Is that just Google Maps for honeycreams, or some other app Im not aware of? Id love to try it out if its available for Froyo/Ginger. Thanks!
I can do the same on my phone. Google Maps V5.2.1
I thought this was only available on Honeycomb.
http://www.google.com/mobile/maps/3d/
Sweet! Thank you!
Edit: I downloaded the 5.2.1 but I still dont see the option to show the buildings in an area in the 3d look that it showed in the Xoom commercial.
Is there an option/layer Im missing?

It is working OK with SE X10. However, neither check-in nor buzz is available in China. We have to wait for the unlocked version
Is this brut mode?
i've got blank (white) screens on checkins etc.
It's very annoying that you have to create your cache all over again every update.
Thx. for posting the apks, Google has something against letting update the Xperia Arc with them via the Market.

They also have something against HTC Desire and Cosmote Romania. I have Google Maps 5.1 installed from a third party source and it works just fine! When I go to the Market on the PC, it says This item is not available for your carrier. On the phone, it isn't displayed at all and I don't want to use Market Access. Eventually, I have installed GM 5.3 from enuazeal. Thanks.

In Estonia we have the same problem - some applications/updates are not available via market.
If you still want to use the market:
Root and use market enabler
or
Get a SIM from a country that is "good enough" in Google's eyes
My Arc is from Germany, free of any lock or branding, why it would refuse to show it I have no idea.
But the install from apk went on just fine.
How to

Thank you mate
However it doesn't work here in Syria, I believe Google checks the IP as well
Well my excitement for this app has improved!! I'm originally from Seattle, but I'm over here in Abu Dhabi visiting my GF for about 3 weeks, and for once my GPS can finally locate me! Granted, I have to keep the phone in Airplane Mode and the GPS icon keeps doing it's little flashing (aka no lock), but at least it's showing me on the correct intersection. I have yet to see what happens if I go outside onto a completely different block, but it's progress. Now only if there was a way to make the maps actually preload onto the phone and I could use GPS outside of the houses' WiFi so I can drive around town w/o getting lost.
She has a Captivate that I've rooted and she has installed a Du (one of their cellphone providers over here) SIM card into her phone so she can make calls, but she doesn't have a data plan. I'm going to update her phone to this version of Maps and see if her GPS acts better and/or can at least locate her based on cell tower location.
is brut mode?
I'm still running 5.0. Besides the checkin's and dashboard option, is this update really worth installing?
Are you serious? Its free!!!!

Just because something is free doesn't make it good. I've found many android app updates not worth updating to because either something is broken, drastically changed, or more useless.
THX
Thank you for the download
Hi,
how does the offline availability work? I plan to go on vecation next month and I would like to use maps navigation but I do not have any contract in the US for data connection. Can I plan my route on it and connecting with wifi and it will download all the data needed so that I can drive just fine?

GPS Troubles

Hello everyone:
I recently purchased the HTC One X from At&t and am having an issue with the gps. When I use google maps I have no problems. My issue is when for instance type the name of a store in google. The listing shows up and then there is a tab that says "diections." When i click on "Directions," i do not get the choice of doing so with maps or navigation. So after I do this, "my location" is never pulled and I cannot get the exact directions.
Is anyone else having this issue?
Thanks for all of the help.

Because google search wasn't designed for that. That will require html 5 and user permission. Just use google maps to search if you want directions.or you can try bing search on the browser. Last time I tried, it can take GPS locations and give out direction in the browser.

I have requested this thread be moved to Q&A.
On another not, Foxbob121, on my last phone, when i clicked on directions a screen popped up asking me if i wanted to get the directions from google maps or use the att option. This does not happen on this phone. Any ideas?
Different phones have different implementations. Since Apple owns most of these patents, HTC has to remove (or work around) a lot of features previously existed (HTC lost a law suit last year to Apple).
