Can anyone make the menu key popup look like iPhone style like MIUI does? Where it has the rounded background and the items on top of each other? Like this

Found it on Google. MIUI is a full custom ROM for Snapdragon based phones. Look around YouTube and such for MIUI. It has custom menus for everything, including these and settings. Fully integrated. It's an awesome ROM, wish we had it here.
But thank you SO MUCH
EDIT: Here you go http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=787877
Getting closer. So far only works on the extended menus.
Don't mind the background button on the menu in the second picture. That was left over from my first go around. It's gonna be removed tonight.

Wow that's actually really cool. But the thing is in MIUI it's always like that. I mean as soon as you press the menu key it looks like that.
I'll get those also. I just went after that one first since it was already a list style menu. I'll have to change the others to list menus also.

You are amazing man
So I've gotten the extended menus finished to where I like them. They pop up full width and only to the center of the screen and are scrollable. For the rest of the menus I'll have to learn/re-write the .smali files to make them draw out like the extended menus in a list style rather than a button style. Should be a long week.

Hi guys!
I sell HTC devices and saw some interesting stuff on a Legend:
If you press the Home button on the Home-Tab you have an overview of all Tabs on the screen. This stuff would be so nice to have on the HD2.
I wish, my programming skills would be so good like my Photoshop skills. So I ask here if some of you Pro-Dev's is able to make this app?
I already have a design concept (GIF - 3.04 MB):

What do you think about it?
PS: If there are some grammatical errors, please be patient - German User
Fantastic idea! May I suggest activating this via holding the home button instead? It would be easier I think.
Also - did you see how the latest version of Sense works on Android? Pinching any tab with 2 fingers will show you a list of Sense screens. It would be great, too.
Great idea - someone here will have the knowledge to make this happen methinks!
what also would be nice is not only for tabs, but when you rotate the screen on the home tab, you can scroll through open applications (including the tabs) like you do on coverflow (music tab in landscape)

On the Legend you just have to press it short, thats much faster than the long pressing. When you make it on long press you are not faster then swiping the slider to the tab you wish to open.

The Legend runs fast and smoothly. I don't know something about the Desire - it will come next week - but IMHO with Android you don't need the Snapdragon to run smooth.
The idea with pinching is also not bad. I think it would be probably as fast as the seccond press on the Home button.

I think, the rotating thing is more eye candy than time saving. But it would also look great.

Sorry, but I like the look of Sense. It's a masterpiece of work for sure, but i like the original design, so that's to far away from the Stock Manila...
Updated 5/26/10 with new version supporting Fresh 2.1.2. See Here for download.
First person to notice what's different about the content of this screenshot wins (not regarding the Rosie/Launcher).
Some people were talking about doing this, so I wanted to see if it was possible, turns out it is .

It's an edit to a framework .jar file, and my .jar file has additional edits for the white taskbar/notification menu, so it's difficult to distribute.
I could probably do 2 versions. One if your notifications drop down menu is stock, another if it is AOSP style, and thus has some font/button tweaks, like mine.

It doesn't have to be a MetaMorph for this change, as we are not updating a handful of files in an apk/jar file. In this instance, we are replacing the whole thing.
That is one of the challenges in distributing.

It's launcher pro. The 2nd and 4th icons are set to nothing, and then launcher pro lets to pick custom icons for the bottom dock. It also lets you turn off the home button at the bottom of the app drawer, like in the Droid X.
more icon
is there more icons we can have...im diggin this icons for the evo
Since these end up more spread out than the real icons, could we do a dock background with the icons in the correct places, then just use blank icons, like they do for the sense looking launcher pro docks?
Can a launcher pro dock be pretty tall?
Edit: I figured it out, posted in another thread.

It's protips. It's included in a lot of the 2.2 distros, but HTC doesn't include it. One option would be to grab some sort of AOSP rom and get protips.apk from /system/app. I dunno if you can just install a protips apk, or if it needs to be pushed to /system/app on your phone.
CM6 includes their custom version called "brotips." The android is cyan and the 6 original sayings are there along with 6 more specific to CM. Bugless Pete has done one too, I don't remember where I found it, maybe his twitter.
Also try just googling protips.apk.
Hey,
I want to remove the clock from my statusbar because it's just ugly and i don't need 2 clocks.
There are some threads about this, but this are old methods that don't work anymore.
somebody knows how to achieve this easily? I'm running latest MIUI ROM (Android 2.3.3)
Really nobody that can help me?
I've found a tutorial to extract services.jar, i tried editting the files but i couldn't figure it out. Please?
I may be wrong, but I don't believe that removing the clock is an option in stock Android. Many of the custom ROMs have explicitly added this capability, I would image because there is a demand for it.
Wouldn't it make more sense to get rid of the stupidly big and unnecessary one that's taking up half your screen real estate?

It is not a real option, but it should be possible. I've read that the clock removal mods don't really remove the clock, but the clocks are just posisioned outside the screen area. I tried to move the clock myself but i failed

I see your point now! Didn't realise your homescreen was so well modded and tasteful. My apologies for jumping to conclusions and thinking that you'd have a Sense style clock.

I know many users miss the on screen nav bar and are looking to enable it in the latest aosp builds popping up. Now, personally I am not a huge fan of it because it ends up taking up more space on the phone and I feel that isn't worth it. That got me thinking though, since we usually have space taken by the notification bar, why not merge the two into a hybrid and the space issue wouldn't be that big of a deal. In my concept I am only using the recent apps, menu, and back buttons. I feel that the home button is easily pressed and the only issue I have is with the side buttons.

I really like this. Good work.
That looks pretty neat! However, would there be a place to hold notification icons for a quick glance? And when there is a notification, will there be any indication on the screen? I know that some people (like myself) kinda like being able to glance at what's new wherever they are in the phone.
Also, if the phone was put into "Tablet Mode" like how Paranoid Android does it, I believe you get all of the softkeys and your notifications.
But don't get me wrong here, I still think you have a cool concept here!
Keep up the good work!

Yeah I saw the tablet mode ones but they just feel too squished to me in my opinion. I was looking to make more of a phone version. I completely understand on notifications. I'd say I would need to play with it a bit to find the best way to display them. Thank you for your words of encouragement

I don't know if this would be a personal preference deal, or functionality, but the black bar that the nav buttons sit in, does it have to be that huge? can it be slimmed down?
Else wise looks amazing!

I'm no real android dev/themer (and by the attached pic, no artist:silly but I do have an idea for the notifications:
You could perhaps have the color of one of the softkeys change if there is a notification waiting. Pretend a text just flew by, the recents key could change color to an assigned color (say red). That way, one would know that a new text has come by looking at a place they normally look at all the time, without opening the notification drawer. I some AOSP ICS roms, the option to change the color of the softkeys is present. This is where I get some of the idea from..
Just a thought though. (If you do use it, all I ask is for my name to be in the credits ) And I hope my using of your picture to demonstrate doesn't bother you. If it does, I'll remove it gladly .
EDIT: Oh wait, oops! I edited the wrong picture... My point was to not open the notification drawer haha... Just imagine it with the notification drawer closed....
