Help... my g tablet won't update - G Tablet General

Just got off the phone with Viewsonic. They don't know why my g tablet won't update. We did a reset, didn't work. I love this pad but it is stuck on the 2906 version of TAP UI. Any ideas how to get it to update?
Thanks.

Check out the thread "New TnT firmware update..." from Roebeet.
It is large, but should contain everything you need to be able to download the update directly from your pc and install manually.

Are you getting the Update to start at all? Stopping in the middle and failing to complete the download? If so, make sure that your display's backlight is set to Never Go Off, as this tends to stop the download and disrupt any progress..... That's what I had to do.

I had the same problem. Called Viewsonic and they told me to exchange it for another one. Got the new one and it updated fine. I'm really happy with the gtab!

Got mine to work
I just took my g-tablet out of the box an hour ago. I was really discouraged to discover that the updater wouldn't download. Powering off and on again solved the problem and now it's updating. We'll see what happens next.

I had a similar issuewith mine 2 days ago when i bought it. viewsonic tech support had me change some setting which were timing out on the long download. The download still failed and viewsonic suggested I charge it for 24 hours, this helped and when I turned it on the download/install went well. I'm really happy with the performance of the g tablet now.
Regards!

i got my tablet for christmas.. i liked it ok.. the factory tnt was tolerable. then a few days later it went into a boot loop, had to shoot it in the head or take it back.
so i installed clockwork to get root, then installed vegan and i couldnt be happier!
the stock tnt is bad.. especially if your used to android. its some ugly variation, ugly menus, just hard on the eyes i think..
but vegan looks like id expect an android device to look, and its screamin fast.. especially with launcher pro!
dont even worry about updating tnt.. man up and put vegan on it and youll be blown away! it changed everything for me, i didnt really like the tab before.
for fun i flashed back to tnt and it lasted about 5 min.. i couldnt get it off fast enough!

[Q] market now empty

I just started my tablet tonight and I went to market to look around and I was met with the original agreement option for the market. I excepted and then went to market to find it almost empty. Anyone else had this happen? I tried to do the fix again but it didn't work.
I'm still on 3389 with enhancement.
Ideas?
UPDATE: NVM. I ran the fix two more times and second time it worked!
same thing here...also on 3389 plus enhancemente
you know though that the market has been kinda crazy lately...not just with gtabs...maybe a google issue.

That is how I fix mine. It happens every now and again. Not sure if the something in the framework itself updates or mis-aligns with the market on there, itself but I find that I just need to run the fix 1 or 2 times and it works after that.
Not sure if this is related or not, but while I was able to install Beautiful Widgets, it can't find the free wallpaper in the market. Also I was looking for Jet Car Stunts Lite since there are a number of articles about it today, but while it appears on my Nexus One it doesn't show on the G-tab. Any ideas? Is it possible for me to put it on my Nexus One and then copy it over, or is the problem that the market thinks it isn't compatible with the Tegra chip, or...?
I have had trouble with market acting womky on stock w/ enhance, tnt lite and vegan....either its the hack we use or Google i shaving trouble. My guess would be the hack but I could be wrong.

I got my tablet about two weeks ago and installed tnt lite. My market was perfect for about Three days and then apps started disappearing. I now have vegan and most major apps do not appear. I'd say I have about 90% of the market

[Q] uh oh...

Ok.... so, I done gone and did it. I think I managed to brick my gtab. Which is odd, because it was working one minute, then said "shove off" the next.
I was running the VEGAn-Tab Gingerbread Alpha and couldn't stand the lack of hardware acceleration anymore. Choppy video, games, and such. So, I decided to jump back to 5.1. I flashed the .8 recovery again and was able to get it installed zero issue. I was even running 5.1 for a good day or two. I was in the middle of redoing the Angry Birds levels since the backup data from GB wasn't playing nice for just that one app.. I noticed there was no sound after a bit, thought another app might have been holding priority over the audio, so I went to reboot. Shuts down, when it should reboot, the screen just stays black. The screen is definitely on, just blank.
The power button shuts it off after a second or two of holding it, so it's still functioning from some form of data to know to do that... I figured nvflash might work, but I can't figure out how to get it going without my computer picking up on a USB device.
Have I just screwed myself here, somehow? any ideas?

Sounds like a brick to me, same thing happened to me.
Luckily for you the gtab is virtually unbrickable.
Follow the method from the following thread to get your gtab back to stock.

Yep, Semibricked.
Happened to me 2 days ago. See the last post from me, pazzu510 and you´ll see some images from the process. XD It makes it so easy to have ubuntu specially linux mint(i dont know if the "run in terminal" works in other distros and in which).
Good luck and dont get too worried. Not even data get lost(just some apps).

wait... there are actually running versions of Ubuntu on this thing? I've been hoping for that since I decided on this thing over the Adam. lol I've only seen a few posts around for Karmic.
I'll give the methods mentioned a try and report back. I'm glad this is fixable. My only experience with this stuff is with my Droid and old iPod Touch(which I semi-bricked quite a few times with all of my tinkering. lol)
edit: Wait.. sorry.. I just realized you meant on a normal computer. lol My brain kinda jumped the gun there, for a second. lol
Ok... So, I had no choice but to do the nvflash from linux because windows 7 decided it didn't want to play nice with the drivers. I've been meaning to dual-boot Ubuntu anyway, so it pushed me into doing that now instead of procrastinating. lol
I did the nvflash without any issues, got back into android. It reinstalled TnT, but whatever.
Enter issue number two... It works "fine"(about as good as the stock TnT, pre-updates could.. lol). I go to reboot, screen doesn't come on at all. Not even the on but blank. Not even the back light this time. nvflash cures it, but if I ever turn it off, it does the exact same thing. I was hoping to switch back to VEGAn 5.1.1 or at least get the stock TnT updated. I can't reboot for the update or the same thing happens. Which also leaves out hope for getting into recovery to format.
I went from ... lol
Its rebooting into apx mode. Exact same thing Happened to me a month back. You need to make sure you are using the correct nvflash files. Which ones are u using?

I was using the files in the zip with the later date in bekit's dropbox. I figured they were just updated files. I'll give the other one a try and see how that goes.
yup. That was it. I used the other set of files and it's working fine now. Thanks for catching that. I probably would have went a few more days before trying that. lol

[Q] Xoom everytime it restarts keeps going to the setup wizard, anyone know why?

My brothers Xoom which is the original and new out of the box every time he restarts it prompts him to do the setup wizard, anyone know why?
It seems like it doesnt save his settings regardless of having the settings all correct. Im not a xoom man as have the notion ink, vega and ipad so if anyone does know please let me know what we can try.
Its 32gb and not rooted and brand new out of the box.
Thanks!
Maybe the best, since it's brand-new and not modded (it IS not modded, right?) is to bring it to Motorola for repair? Or use the warranty to replace it? Cause there may be a solution for it now, but who knows if it will cause any more problems in the future?
EDIT: Just noticed I answered everything with a question. I mean: with a question?
Yes its not modded in anyway as I think he got it about 6 months ago and has never really used it. It has honeycomb as sold and even requests an update but even that after downloading and rebooting does nothing as it goes into the setup wizard again and then requests you to download the update again which seems to suggest its not doing anything. The unit is 32 gb internal and shows approx 29 gb still available. If it was mine I would be mods it was mine I would of nodded that ages ago but very strange it keeps doing this.
Just want to know if anyone has experienced this with a xoom
at all?
Just do a master reset and wipe the Xoom.

Yeah I did a factory data reset and its doing exactly the same. Every time you reboot after installing apps or the update its asking to apply it kicks into the setup wizard. Baffled now! !!

Frequent Reboot?

I just picked up my TF300 on Thursday and I've been having some frequent rebooting going on.
It seems like it mostly occurs when I open a newly downloaded app and start going through the settings. Everything locks up, then it simply reboots itself. Thankfully, it doesn't take very long to reboot. When I go back in to the offending app, it generally has been working fine.
The last few big tech purchases I've made (laptop, phone, etc) it seems like they've had a few issues at first, but eventually the bugs get worked out and I stop having problems within a couple weeks.
Is this a common issue, or should I exchange it? I have 27 days left to take it back.
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk 2
I had a 16G that worked fine. I recently exchanged it for a 32G. The 32G would reboot every time I went to use it after leaving it sit for some time (a few hours?). I did a Cold Boot (holding volume + power -- see google) and it seems to be fixed now. Try that.
Sorry, I didn't specify, mine is the 32GB. Thanks for the info, trying that now.

Mine became more stable after I got the .29 firmware update.
I had a firmware update when I first unboxed it, but it failed the instalation and it says I'm up to date now.
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk 2
Cold reboot doesn't seem to have had much of an effect. I've had three automatic reboots within the last hour or so.
Also, checked for updates and it says I'm up to date.
Edit:Just happened three more times while navigating around these forums. Plus one lockup where I had to manually reboot. Starting to think about exchanging it.

Mine also keeps rebooting, but i bought it in Edimburgh and now i'm in Spain, so i can't replace it.
I can't use the Asus SAT because i used the "unlock" utility. This realy piss me off
I've tried to unroot, reset the device, not overclocking, even a stress test with StabilityTest app (Google Play, i can't post links), and it keeps rebooting with no sense (attached log down there).
It has rebooted using GMail, watching videos through a browser, playing games... No pattern at all.
After last reboot i have disabled the sound and it seems to be stable, but i'm not sure at all.
My only hope is that the device become fully stable with a custom rom.
Well, I said before things were ok, but now I got home and the device turned itself off. I had to hold down the power button to start it up.
Same problem here in Holland. I have a blue, 32gb 300t (boxcode TF300T-1K129A) which reboots randomly. I own this tablet for one week now and it rebooted about a 30 times or completely freezes. Already submitted an RMA to Asus.
Edit: the RMA was rejected by Asus. They said that I have to reset to factory default thirst, so I did. 10 minutes later... another rebood. I wanted to report this to Asus but in order to do so I had to send a completely new RMA report. Really fed up with Asus I returned the tablet to my retailer and got my money back (no stock of the 300T). Now I ordered a Cube U30GT. To bad, besides the reboots it was a great tablet.
Been having similar issues but I'm in vacation so I can't really do much debugging. My tablet simply shuts down randomly when put in sleep for prolonged periods of time. It'll usually happen once or twice a day with no real pattern to it. I've only had it crash on me once while I was using it, and it wasn't while launching an app or anything in particular.
I'll try the cold boot but unfortunately I'm not getting OTA updates at all... I've rooted and changed the build prop, but I haven't unlocked it. If I can't figure out what's wrong I'll just unlock it and apply updates manually I guess. I know .26 is supposed to fix certain stability issues.

It's in the Play Store. Looks like it puts the entire system through tests. It will keep running until an error occurs, then I think it creates a log.
I downloaded it and let it run for a couple minutes but I don't have the pad with me at the moment.
It said some errors are found in five minutes, but it could take up to 5 hours to find one. I'm guessing plugging it in and letting it run for a while is the best way to do it.
I might run it sometime before I get a chance to take it back to Best Buy. Just out of curiosity.

Alot of people have fixed their problems with a factory rest. I had alot of the same issues and did the reset and now no problems at all. Worth a shot.
I've tried that and it still does it. I'm crossing my fingers that I just got a bad one and I'll be exchanging it tonight after work.

Just to update, I got home with my replacement tablet, and I've been setting it up for the last hour. I don't want to jinx myself, but I haven't had an unwanted reboot yet, which is a vast improvement over the last one. It also successfully installed the firmware update, which evidently, the last one did not do. So far a much better experience.

Restored to Factory, Phone is freaking out, Screaming/Rebooting every couple seconds

Okay, So ive been banging my head against the wall for 2 days straight now with this problem so ive finally come to post about it to see if anybody has ANY idea how i can fix this. I have searched high and low for anyone who has come across this problem and i cant find another poor soul stuck in this predicament.
I have the D850, and have had it since last July. It was Bumped the day that it came out and ive been happily running roms on it since. I have honestly probably tried every ROM that was ever released for this phone, never had any issues.
I had flashed back to stock maybe a few weeks ago bc i had never done so, and after flashing a million roms i figured id try out straight stock for the first time in a year. SO i flashed the kitkat stock rom, and booted up everything was fine, then there was maybe 2 updates that i did OTA. I knew lollipop was out so i updated to that and all was well. I eventually got weary of straight stock quickly so i rooted and installed some of the fun stuff. Now this is where i noticed something i hadn't had before- when i would boot into TWRP i would get an unsecured boot error: error 1300- or at least i think that's what it said...Everything would flash fine and boot up so i didn't think much of it, but now that im having the issues im having, i think this is where it stems from.
Fast forward to 2 days ago- i figured i would flash back to 100% stock because i will be receiving my 6P next week and was going to donate this phone to my aunt bc i have taken such good care of it i figured id hand it down to a needy relative instead of get $20 bucks for it on ebay- All goes well i get the Blue screen with the 3 on it, pull battery and reboot. Everything seems normal..att logo...welcome screen..i go to touch the screen and its frozen. then reboots. weird. it does this a few more times, sometimes staying alive for up to 3 mins before freezing and rebooting again. Sometimes it even screams at me- no joke- it will freeze and make a high pitch screeching noise then shut down. scared the Sh*t out of me the first time it did it.
Ive tried everything people...i have downloaded fresh tot files/tried 5 different computers/fresh installs of flashtool/LG PC suit/hard reset/ran in safe mode/changed flash settings form upgrade to Board- to no avail. I honestly don't know how the phone hasn't died yet bc i think ive flashed the thing 30 times in the last 2 days from various computers. Remember- every time i flash in flash tool it passes, its only when it boots back up that it freezes/screams/reboots.
Sorry for the long winded post, but i wanted to give you some context. I'm going to try and mess around with it some more today but i keep getting closer and closer to throwing it off the wall bc this is frustrating. I think my problems would be solved if there was a lollipop tot file to flash, but i looked around and couldn't find anything. Thanks for reading everyone, any ideas are welcome. I'm out of warranty so ill try ANYTHING to fix this. At this point even if i FUBAR it i don't gaf bc its broken right now anyways. Any ideas are welcome. Thanks guys and i hope this never happens to you

If it's making noise and freezing after flashing, that sounds like an hardware issue. Since you've already tried reflashing it several times and it still does it nothing else can really be done. You can try selecting board_id in flash tool at the tot selection screen and try that.
Also I always gotten secure boot error when booting into twrp on my LG phones I've rooted and loaded twrp on them.

Yea man i tried that and it it boots into a screen that says DO NOT TOUCH SCREEN and then just continues to boot to that and i get a fail on the flash tool . thanks for your tutorial btw, thats what i used for all this troubleshooting. i found a thread about actually taking the phone apart and shorting it out and then trying to flash. i am going to give that a try if i cant get this f0cker to boot up correctly.

When it continues to boot what happens? Flash tool is supposed to fail.. Once the phone is out of download mode flash tool will fail as its done and has no connection. Once flash tool hits 80/85% its done. Never heard of the LG phone and taking it apart to short it out. That would be something if you had a brick and the phone doesnt go into download mode.

so it faild out at 89%, then the miniOS screen comes up, but then it just keeps boot looping into the AAT-mini OS 3.1 screen where it says AUTO TOUCH TEST dont touch screen!!

Strange. But yeah once phone reboots it's done. Flash tool percent means nothing. But very strange.
