Hey all,
I know I just put up my tutorial on how to do this but hopefully this will make things easier for everyone. I'd still suggest doing a nandroid backup first just to make sure but I tested this on my phone so it should work. Just run the app and if this is the first time moving your apps to your sd card(and you want to keep the ones you have) leave the checkbox checked. Otherwise uncheck it. Then just press the buttons that correspond to what you want to do. Enjoy
In order to use this you MUST:
1: Have an apps-to-sd ROM
2: Have your sd card partitioned correctly with FAT32 first and ext2 second.
3: Have busybox already installed to /system/xbin
NOTE: I'll try to help as much as I can but I can't take responsibility for anything this does to your phone. I'm pretty sure nothing bad will happen and nothing irreparable can happen but gotta say these things just to be sure anytime I'm messing with root permissions.
ANOTHER NOTE: I'll put this up in the market for $1. It'll remain free here but people can donate to me that way.
YET ANOTHER NOTE: I've managed to get a new method working that's a lot more stable and flexible. I will keep this thread here but won't be maintaining it.
EDIT: Moving data is too unstable, I've removed the option. It doesn't force close anymore when you don't have the setup right, it just gives an error and wont let you do anything, so that's better.
Tried it this morning and worked great. You might add a pop up at the end of moving apps to restart the device. When less experienced people use it, they won't know to do that I'm afraid.
the app sends me into abootloop at the htc screen

OH SHOOT!!! I fixed this problem on the market one but forgot to put it back up on here. Umm... for now no1 should use the one posted here, until I can get home and post the updated one. OR if you still want to fix this and don't much just a bit of fiddling in the recovery terminal, after moving apps to sd, restart in recovery mode and do this:
Code:
mount data
ln -s /system/sd/app /data/app
For anyone who cares about such things, the problem is that it deletes the /data/app folder and then makes a symlink, which sounds ok, except that every super user command has to be run through the whitelist app... which no longer exists. So it's not able to set up the link and all hell breaks loose.
i did use the 1 from here
it says ln: /data/app: file exists
if i already had apps2sd, tried to upgrade my phone from 5.0 to 5.01G, so I wiped...then data.img wouldn't flash over...if i do this, will my apps show up again?

ya it's the one from here that's broken, sorry. If you haven't already flashed back and everything(still have the boot loop) then you can use the code I posted and it should fix it. I'll post the updated version tonight when I get back home.

Yes, just uncheck the checkbox. But you might want to read the note that I just posted, there's a known problem with it that has a fix but requires going into the recovery terminal. I'll post the updated version of this app that doesn't have that bug tonight.

Not really,,
According to the like 6th post or something its states this app wont work if you download it from here, but if you were to get it through the market....
Bob should now be your uncle
if you give him some time as clearly posted again, he will fix the app from the first post and replace it later on

you had the "stale NFS handle" right? I'm not really sure what's going on but something in your phone's file system sounds like it went screwy. Maybe someone like JF or LucidREM could help? Your problem goes way over my head and I'm guessing the same is true of a lot of people on here unfortunately.
its cool imma jus stay with apps n caches to sd...n kep dalvik on the fone..i got passed the nfs error and get stuck at tmo g1 screen maybe ill try again l8ter
jf rom
Ok question I know it says apps to sd rom is needed does this mean only haykuro roms? I have a jfrc33 1.42 and I could do apps to sd using this rom (planning on doing it tonight my 8gig class 6 card arrived) so my question is can I just use this app or do I need to do all the steps manually

It should work on any apps to sd ROM. This includes LucidREM's modified JF ROMs. If you're gonna be manually changing it into an apps to sd, then I would think it would work but can't promise it. I wasn't able to figure that out when I tried so I'm not 100% sure that they work the same but I would imagine they would. Again, though, the one posted here has that known bug which will be fixed after I get home from work.
Short answer(s):
Haykuro's ROM: definitely works
LucidREM ROM: Don't have it to test it but almost assuredly works
Self-modified: probably works?
Sounds good I wasn't doing it till later tonight anyways (stuck at work also) also is it still a good idea to keep ext2 parititon less then 2gb like lucid reported on his tutorial

Probably, I haven't tried anything bigger... and seriously, you'd need a crazy amount of apps to fill up even 1GB...

True. that sure would be a lot I dont even think all the apps in the market would fill 2gigs lol. Thanks for your work look forward to trying it later
It seems that quite often after an upgrade (especially when using Apps2SD), Android rebuilds the /data/system/packages.xml file because it thinks you have reinstalled all of your apps. This results in missing apps, force closes, etc, because UIDs have changed and they don't match whats in your /data/data directory. It's almost always fixed by a wipe, but screw that
Download this file: http://n0rp.chemlab.org/android/fix_permissions.sh
Push it to your sdcard, su, and run "sh /sdcard/fix_permissions.sh" and reboot. You should be good to go with NO WIPE!
Credit goes to this guy, I simply ported it to shell code: http://blog.elsdoerfer.name/2009/05/25/android-fix-package-uid-mismatches/
UPDATED: Now works with protected apps.

Well, there are some other factors, like app data that is stored in the same place but in a different format. You'd likely run into this going back and forth from an HTC based build like Hero or Sapphire and an Android based build like mine, Dude's, or JF's. I can't fix that situation, YMMV.
Except for that special case, this should do the trick.
I hope I don't sound like a complete idiot. Do you do this before or after the update and will this work with any update (like moving from ION to Rogers?

Bravo!!!
@Cyanogen: YOU **ARE** THE MAN! Woot!
Now I'm not so hesitant to test out new roms! Thanks cyan

damn your good..
Thank you very much
Out of curiousity, is it even possible to implement this into ROM Builds? it would seem simple enough. however I haven't built my own ROM so I'm going off of what I know from programming. ask the guy who created it if you can use his work. lol you're the man, as always.
ok i may of did something wrong but i couldnt get it to work. i used the terminal emulator on the phone and typed the command and it says
mount: permission denied (are you root?)
it continued to do the script but said not permitted for each app.
i definately have root as i just installed your latest rom so what am i doing wrong?
Did you SU first?

Yeah, it should be possible. The script is a little slow, though, so it would need a way of detecting an upgrade in the first place, and it would have to run after all the apks are processed.

so may I ask... if I wanna go from Haykuro's Hero to JAC's 1.4... all I would have to do is... flash the new ROM and then run your script and I'm done?
That is the idea, yes.
Ran script and flashed from dude's to your build without wipe. I'm getting force closes on
android.process.acore
klaxon
weather widget free
I'm using marcus apps2sd.
Edit nevermind I'm a retard. Figured it out.
amazing, doing this after upgrading from 3.3.6 to 3.3.8 fixed all my issues so far! thank you sir!!

You ran the script first, before the flash? I believe the script is to be run after the flash. Try that and see what happens.
Wondering if anyone could backup the madden app on the new 2.3.340 update and post it here so we could dl it?
Thanks
It'll be out sometime tonight or early tomorrow guaranteed
Nobody posted it yet?
P3 just said you have to update if you want Madden.
here u guys go....
Thanks for this. I tried it on my evo, and it works, but the graphics are all screwed up. Can't wait till it hits the market!
What am I doing wrong? Every time I try to download it, all I get is an attachment script.

That is correct because you need the updated /system of the .340 build for it to function properly
weird, It seems to be running decent on my phone without the update. Running 2.3.15, define "wont work"?
Just downloaded this and tried it on my Evo (rooted Myn's 2.2.). Unfortunately the animations do not properly display players. I wonder why it won't work correctly on the Evo.
Still tried to play the game, simply by calling plays, just to get a preview of gameplay. I think the game has good potential, once the animation issues are worked out.

goes on your sdcard as .madden10.
ive included the .apk as well for convenience.
click to download: madden10.rar
confirmed working with Motorola droid 2 running fission rom 2.3
works great on my Vibrant!
There's an update.zip live on mydroidworld for Madden, works on a bunch of phones.
Once i unrar the madden file and move everything onto my SD card and install the APK, where do i move all the files to so it can see them and doesn't ask me to keep downloading them?
I was able to figure it out sorry, thought the . you typed before the name was a typo but was not.
Anyone able to get this working on an Evo? I'm having similar issues as the others. FYI I'm running CM6.1
i'm gonna test this out.. it works but black field and no textures, DI needs the snapdragon version
http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/...-2011-update-zip-should-work-many-phones.html
download > reboot clockwork > mount system > install zip
edit sdcard/.madden10/data/resolution with text editor, change to 800x480
i tried the OP and it started with a white box in the bottom right that disappeared and then seemed to be frozen, supposedly this zip works on the DI

Hi every body.
this is the first dofus running on android .
after 2 months playing with the script now dofus is
ready for your devices.
HOW THAT IS WORK.
first your devices should be routed.
open the bat file and connect your device with the usb .
and click a button and wait for pushing dofus on your sd card .
and you need to be connected to the internet to succeed.
you should have a free space on your sd card 1 GB.
after pushing dofus you should find an icone with your apps called dofus from warriors
thanks
Thanks for doing this... I was wondering if anyone has tried this yet. it's be really excited to play on my phone. Is there a video or screen shot somewhere?

sorry don't read greek, try latin or cyrylic alphabet next time, as for the dofus, check here, those modern inventions are really astonishing sometimes with all that searching and everything
Is there a way to test this without pushing this unknown software to my phone? Why is it push do you need to reinstall each time dofus releases a update?

No big deal here. I have proted another sense ROM and have been enjoying it but the sd card wont mount in it. The sd card is fine. I made a nandroid of the ROM inquestion, full wiped and restored Supreme Sense to see what happened and all is well so it's in the Ported ROM somewhere. I have been reading what solutions other devices have for simular probs but was wondering if anyone from this community has a "speedy" solution. Or just a direction to look in.

A command I use (without reading the link prboy gave so it might be the same) is
adb logcat >logcat.txt
Or >whatever.txt and that should place a txt file inside platform-tools with the name you specify , that way you don't miss anything,or have to look at it all through terminal

Great. Now none of my sd cards will mount in recovery after doing a full wipe to flash some thing new. looks like I'm screwed.

So it mounts before the wipe (as in it wipes your sd-ext during the wipe) but won't let you install from sd after the wipe? Maybe try going into advanced then reboot recovery after wiping, it might mount your sd when you reboot recovery... But that's just strange.

Yeah it was easier for me too. For me mounting anything is a lot easier and faster in linux than in windows, I've had problems where an external drive will just not show up at all in windows, or show up with errors, but then booting into linux everything works smoothly

Glad it worked for you . BTW sometimes it's best to take a minute, and step back when your working on stuff. Give your brain a chance to process things. Happens to me all the time. A solution to something that I had an issue with, when I'm not thinking about it.
