[Q] Boot Loop on VEGAn - G Tablet General

I recently flashed the Vegan rom to my g tablet. Everything worked fine, but as I was setting up, the system crashed and now I am getting a boot loop. How do I proceed so I can fix this?
I have a micro SD card, and I have CWmod installed.
I fixed it by repartitioning my SD card. Thanks.

Beat me to it.

i am getting the same thing "boot loop" after vegan 5.1 but i dont have a micro sd card with anythinng on it what do i do

If you try to "repartition the SD card" in clockwork, it will repartition the internal memory, and likely fix your problem. 2048 / 0. Note, you'll lose all data on the card, so backup first.
If that doesn't help, clear your cache and dalvik cache.

i have nothing to back up

Let us know if it doesn't work, but I suspect that will fix your problem.

fixed lol i love you all here at XDA

I select partition SD card in clockwork?
Then it goes to
Ext Size
128m
256m
512m
1024m
etc.
So what do i choose? Or am I on the wrong part of the CW menu?

2048 and 0

Interesting how repartitioning didn't work for me.

Odd. I just went back into CW and re-did it and it booted up fine.

thanks! worked perfect.

[Q] install tnt lite with only sd card?

I bought a g-tab for my wife for Christmas. I wanted it to be working well right out of the box so I tried to put TNT-lite on it before she started playing with it.
I installed vs 3.0 tnt-lite using the usb connection as outlined in one of these threads. Ended up in a boot loop.
I managed to instal clockworkmod vs 08 via the micro sd card
tried all the following to reinstall vs 2.2 of tnt-lite with no success:
clockwork mod, cleared data, cleared cache, formated sd card
loaded tnt lite vanilla on sdmicro card,
altered the command file to point to sdcard2
clockwork does not offer an option to load the zip file from sdcard2, only from sdcard.
tried mounting sdcard-ext believing it was the microsd, but still clockwork could not see the zip install file.
I can't get my pc to recognize the tablet anymore, so all I have is sd card to fix the problem,
Does anyone have any ideas as to how to do the following:
get the machine to boot into tnt 2.2 with marketplace and flash working using only an sd card.
I'm new to droid aps and a virgin with this machine, so please be very specific.
Thanks
Reid
Did you format the SD card, or Partition the SD card? The latter is the one that seems to correct this issue for most people.
In clockworkmod, go to "Advanced" and then "Partition SD Card". This will erase both /data and /sdcard, so be aware of this. And it takes about 4-5 minutes to run. 2048 and zero swap are the common sizes to use.
If this doesn't work, the only other suggestion I have is to setup nvflash. I have a post that describes this here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861950
Good luck!
If I can repartition the sdcard, will I be able to load the tnt-lite via the micro sd card? That is to say, if I load the tnt-lite zipped file and the recovery folder on the micro sd, will it load automatically, or do I have to remove clockworkmod first and then reinstall the basic recovery software?

Haha! OMG I was stuck on a boot loop twice with two G Tabs. Partitioning is what fixed the error. IDK why but it did, reflashed, wiped, and it booted normally. The Nvflash didn't work for me btw on both occasions. Don't get scared.. its fixable.

Sorry for double post but did not see your response. Okay if you go to the vanilla rom it will remove Clockworkmod(it was either this or Nvflash removed Clockworkmod for me). I went to vanilla, no luck, then partitioned, reflashed TnT Lite, wiped data and cache, then rebooted. This is what fixed my problem. You can reinstall Clockworkmod using the same method used to install it.
issue fixed
Thanks all for the help. I repartitioned the sd card, cleared data and it rebooted into tnt lite vs 3.0!
I was seeing other launchers with more options and widgets to put on the desktop on youtube. Is it ok to add a different launcher to this build?

[Q] Can't Anyone Help ???

I'll try this forum, over 200 views on my other posts and no suggestions. Is the problem that obscure ? The tablet, while not worthless, is getting there as I am unable to load any of the hacks and fixes to the SD card to install. Is there a work-around the SD card so I could reinstall the g-sensor fix ?
With all the great minds on this forum, surely someone will have some insight into my problem. To start with I am running the latest Vegan release (thanks Team) and have been since 1/1. The only thing I can think of that might have caused this problem was that I foolishly removed my SD card without dismounting it and popped in a blank one to see if it was working. Since then, I am unable to mount an SD card. If just says "Unmount in Progress". When I click on unmount, it will unmount it and give me the "Mount SD card" option, when I try to mount it, it will say "preparing SD card", then go back to "Unmount in Progress". When I try to mount a new card, it says "Card blank or unsupported file system". But all the other card I have used in my Gtab give me the same Unmount in Progress issues. I reinstalled Vegan. Apps that used to work, no longer work, they just open and close (No FC message)
Someone please help !!!

I'm not one of the g tablet great minds but I'll make a suggestion that always works for me.
1) Format your external SD card in a computer with Fat32. Preferably not a quick format.
2) Using Recovery wipe EVERYTHING, repartition/format the internal memory.
3) Reboot into Recovery
4) Connect to a computer, mount usb, copy your files over again.
5) Re-install the rom of your choice.
In my experience (at least on the HD2 with Android) crazy FC's and otherwise unexpected behavior from a freshly installed ROM means there are leftovers that were not removed from the previously installed rom.
IMHO the device should be completely empty of every bit of software before reinstalling.
Edit: On a side note, I have NOT been able to get an external SD card from recovery which is why I do everything through USB-Mount with the computer.
If you can mount via usb, you could put the ClockWorkMod (CWM) update.zip and recovery file and then reboot with Pwr/Vol+. That should install CWM.
Then you will be able to boot into CWM and repartition or whatever you need to do. Personally I would repatition, clean out the caches, wipe data, etc. and then start with a clean slate.
Hope I have not misunderstood what you need. Hope this helps.

Factory Re-set
Don't know if this will help or not, somtimes you need to clear out the cashe.
Have you tried going into settings and clicking factory reset?
You will lose your user data, but this might be enough to fix the problem. I think you have parts of two installs overlapping each other.
Also, reformatting the SD card sounds like the next step to try if factory reset does not fix the problem.
Third you could NVflash back to stock and then start over. Then do factory reset after each install.
If you have to wipe everything I would suggest formatting your internal sdcard in clockwork to 2048 and 0

If you did a factory reset and nothing happened then the reset didn't work. I would install clockwork recovery from here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=851657
Then boot into clockwork recovery and clear data/cache. You will have to redo the market fix and install your apps. If this doesn't stop the force closes then boot into clockwork recovery and repartition your sdcard to 2048 and 0
I'm having the same problem. I did nvflash and started fresh. Installed CWM making sure to wipe data/cache. I partioned the SD to 2048/0. I installed vegan 5.1 and its update. I think I did everything by the book, yet it still says Unmount in progress. This did not occur when I was running stock.
I tried the sd card from mt Evo as well. It does the same thing. It also does not recorgnize any USB flash installed as well.
I've run out of ideas. Can anyone help?
Thanks very much.

My VEGAn 5.1.1 says same thing but I never have a problem accessing files on it (/mnt/sdcard2). Are you sure you are not confused by the fact that the internal memory is divided into 2 GB "system" and 14 GB SD1?

Be patient, it took forever to mount a thumb drive for the first time and I too had thought something was wrong. Try again after a reboot and a couple of minutes.
Hope this helps
Thanks for trying to help. I pretty much gave up and installed TNT 5.0. I've had the thumb drive in there for 5 minutes but I'll keep it in to see if it shows up. In TNT, the SD card seems to be working/appearing fine.
I really liked Vegan, but I'll keep TNT for at least a few days to see how it does.
Thanks again!

[Q] Stuck at booting with HTC white background

Hi All,
I am using ICS Asianic V2.0 by Darkmantra. And I was playing with my phone last night (Build prop to be specific). I set VM heap to 12 and rebooted and after that It would not boot up. It cannot go beyond HTC logo with white background.
I can boot to recovery, I'd tried a few things that i think made it worse. I re-installed build prop tweak from SD card but did not work. I did a factory reset and a few others which i can no longger recall.... So I decided to just go right ahead and re-flash the ROM from SD card but I was not able to. I was getting an error: "e:can't mount /sdcard"
Is there still hope for my phone? any help will be appreciated...
Thanks in advance.

Sometimes happens, try turning phone off, take out sd card, put back in and try again
The problem is that the phone thinks the SD Card is unmounted. (Sorry to restate the obvious)
Physically removing the card and putting it back in might work. But if you do it with the power off the phone might not realize anything is different.
If you have 4EXT Recovery, you can try to remount it from within the recovery. First try to mount it. Then unmount. Then mount it again. See if that works.
If neither of those work try to mount it with ADB.
And if all else fails, copy the files to your computer using a card reader, format the card, recopy everything back to the card, and start over. I had a situation like that once where this was what finally got the card to remount. Something got glitched on the card so it wasn't being recognized.

- formatted the SD card (have no important data in it anyway)
- copied ROM to SD card
- set phone to Recovery mode without SD card
- Hot plug SD card
- tried to update from SD card and it was able to recognize it...!
- i was able to install my ROM..
thank you! I appreciate the help!

System/Ext-SD not mounted, can not master reset at all.[Please Help]

I recently got Motorola Xoom 4G LTE, Previous owner had CM10 running on it. He reverted to stock with no root. The tablet has custom recovery. But every time I try to flash something. It says sd/ext-sd/system are not mounted. I tried to master reset the table but it doesnt. If I do it from settings>backup and reset. It takes me to recovery all the time. If I try to do it from recovery. it says system, ext-sd, sd are not mounted.
Any help will be appreciated.
It would help if you can tell us what recovery you're using. You might have to mount the system and ext sd partition yourself.

Thank you for replying. Actually I was able to fix it. I was missing an sd card. For some reason xoom would not master reset unless I put my micsro sd card in there. I have never encountered this type of problem before. Currently I have CM10 running and everything seems good.
Do you have any idea why it would so that?

[Q] Complete Phone Redo???

I have been flashing and playing different roms for awhile now but I have noticed that my phone is running out of space so quickly these days. The internal sd card is full and my external sd card has a little space but that's it, and the phone won't do updates or new downloads due to the internal card being full.
I was wondering, I want to go back to using CM10 again on this Blaze with the latest gapps, but I want to wipe EVERYTHING and start fresh, I have backed things using wondershares mobilego (as well as a manual backup of both sd cards, internal and external).
Can someone give me a good medthod on wiping it all, system, cache, dalvik, internal sd card and external sd card and doing a fresh install of cm10 and gapps.
Thanks in advance
Download the latest cm10 nightly and 4.1.2 gapps from the official cm10 thread to your external SD card.
Boot to cwm and go to mounts, and format:
System
Data
Cache
Emmc
Do all of them several times.
Go to advanced and wipe davlik cache a couple times too.
Then install the cm10 zip followed by the gapps. Wipe cache and davlik one more time. You can format the external SD card any time later, after you verify boot (suggested). You can use a PC or the built in format under settings/storage.

Wouldn't I also need to do format /sdcard several times as well to format the internal sd and then after I am all done I can do the format /sd-ext to format the external sd card? Which if I format the sd-ext it won't hurt anything I did for the install of CM and gapps right?
By the way, thanks for your help I appreciate it
You can format the external a couple times. Sometimes things get left behind, that's why in suggested the multiple wipes. You don't have to worry about SD ext, the partition will get wiped when the external SD card is formated. If you didn't create the partition there's nothing to worry about. I wouldn't format the emmc (internal SD card) after installing a rom as some of it is used.

Thanks again, I did as stated above then booted up, made sure all worked fine then went back into cwm and formatted the sd card (not the sd-ext). I am now putting some music and photos back on the sd card so I have them with me. Latest CM10 Nightly from the 4th seems to freeze a little bit when trying to do things on my Blaze, maybe I just need to reboot it again after I move the stuff over.
Thanks again!
Give it a a little while to settle. If it is still giving you issues try the previous nightly from 7/28.

Part of the internal storage is cached at /cache. It caches a bunch of things, such as mount points and app usage. When you wipe cache and start over, expect things to be slower for a couple days/reboots. Then it'll settle, as was said above
Good tips Romman0. I try to do this every 4 months or so. Blackhole and FSC only make it better, but that's clearing leftovers and realigning empty blocks and messing with the filesystem and a lot of technical junk
