It is ROM dependent... what ROM are you using?

stock rom but im rooted

i have the apk file but it wont install

It requires Sense 2+... stock is sense 1 and will not work.

Can you please post up the .apk file it would be much apreciated. I have a desire hd and this app has been removed since updting to gingerbread. Im on sense 2.1 so fingers crossed it should install.

Here's a signed flashable zip containing SearchAnywhere.apk and SearchAnywhereWidget.apk.
But it's not working!
First I tried to just install the apk. They won't install.
Then I created this zip file and flashed it. But the apk files did not transfer to \system\app
Probably somebody else has an idea how to go forward.

Well, here's another try. This time it really flashes the apk files to /system/app.
It also appears in the app drawer. But it does not run propperly. Always force closed.
still not working.

Has anyone had any luck with this. It won't install for me.

Samsung galaxy player, Music Player .apk??

Well someone on their forums gave me the apk, and I have tried to push it to system, change permission and reboot... and checked and it wasn't installed, am I doing something wrong? Or is it just that that particular apk can't be pushed?

thats what im trying to do with the miui sms and trying to replace the cm7 one.
along with the music player.
hopefully someone knows what to do.

oh hey, I have that apk but haven't tried to install it yet. I deodexed the galaxy player 4.0" 2.3.5 rom and was gonna play with it but haven't had the time. it might be that you don't have the deodexed apk so the odex files is missing. also I'm not sir if an odexed file can run on deodexed framework.
ill play with it tonight and let you know if it works. if it does ill send you the deodexed version.

hey i got it working sorta but the settings dosent open. i dont know if it is a problem with deodexing or some weird framework or other dependancy.
i will try flashing a non deodexed leak to my phone and try it with the odex file maybe this weekend. im not really a developer so it's gonna be a lot of trial and error.

Title says it all, can someone please pull it and post it here. I was messing with it when i was stock and i liked it, and now i am using trickdroid and it didn't come with it.

Might need Sense framework. Try pushing to system/app just in case. There is a price to using a non-Sense ROM, even for the Sense haters (and I am one). I'm stuck just to keep the Sense Camera app...

The problem is that it is a sense ROM lol

If you can't get it to work, Energy ROM has movie editor in it.
If anything pull the app from Energy ROM, put it in the place it in the trickdroid zip system/app and flash it again.

Push there, then click to install from root explorer sometimes works for me

Don't know if it is what you wanted, but I pulled the APK from my CM9, it's the movie editor...

use this guide, it worked for me

After pushing the apk in /system/app, you may try restarting your phone. That's what i'm always doing after i push an apk there. Works everytime.

I know I know... There are a lot of things I am good with... android...is new for me.
I have a galaxy note and I dont know the first thing about .apk files or rooting, etc.... I dont mind the way it works now... BUT
I want S Voice. (duh)
as you can see from my sig... Its be A WHILE since I have hacked/modded phones. Then I went to the iPhone for a few models and now I am back...
I downloaded "apkinstaller" and "appinstaller" but niether will load the apk I got off of xda.
I loaded the .apk to my external sd and made enables the ability to load apps that arent from the android market.
Do I need to delete something? Or what... I really need someone to give me a "step by step, you're an idiot" way of getting this done. I really dont want to root my phone if I dont have to.

you shouldnt need to root to install apk's as long as you have checked off ability to install apps that arent from market. I have been doing that from my dropbox since my phone was stock everything. Maybe the apk is broken. Try downloading it again. Maybe even try downloading another apk just to test if it installs properly.

actually I dont think that S Voice is an apk. From what I read quickly is that it needs to be flashed via CWM. Which is a bit more complicated than installing an apk.

This is the one I JUST downloaded (dl'd this one to my phone)... not working.

From everything that I have read, and the file names attached... they are apk files

I dont really have the time to read up on all of it but from what I have you may need to be rooted and remove voice talk first. I think a few of the custom ROMS also have S Voice installed on them already. This is a trickier apk than usual. Would be great if someone with more experience on S Voice would jump in and show you the steps. Sorry I couldnt be of more help.

it is, in this state (unrooted), impossible to get it working.
You need to have root-acces (which you stated you don't have), because you have to replace the usual voice talk with the S-voice application.
You can of course root your phone, read up, and install the mod.

Hey guys i was wondering if any of y had the all share app that came pre installed in our sgs4g or have a better alternative to stream content from our phone wirelessly to our other devices.

If you're on GB then you can simply extract the AllShare.apk from a ROM that has it or go in one of lumins thing and look for the APK. IF it fails to install try pushing it and fixing permissions. It will most likely fail because it has Samsung proprietary stuff so just follow Lumins guide if nothing goes into plan.
If it doesn't work at all then I'm sorry, it might need other proprietary stuff like Swype.

I know how to do that is just that alm the links for the old roms containing this app I want are dead, that's why I was asking for the apk .

check lumins links in his signature I think he has a link to the gb 2.3.6 repository which should have the allshare app.

I had to flash back to stock, and I remembered this thread, lucky you.
so... here is the apk, not sure it will work because is may have dependencies, but try it out.
apk does not say AllShare, but the icon matches the app in the drawer.
if it won't install, push it to the system\apps folder with a root file explorer.

Just curious, did it install or did you have to push it?
I was afraid that would be the case. It most likely has touchwiz and other proprietary Samsung files it depends on. Possibly even the kernel like wifi calling.

You can see in logcat when an apk won't install because it is missing something -- and it will usually say what. I've seen clear logcat indications that TW libraries are what is missing on Memo.apk, for example.
