Anyone know of cheap gloves that let me use my G2 in the winter with them on but also keep me considerably warm?

Glove tips
I saw this a few weeks ago from my RSS feeds. I've never used it before, but it sounds pretty great since it allows you to use your own gloves.

I am currently working on a free homemade prototype; utilizing an apolstry needle, and a diced up esd bag, copper wirethread, and glue. I'll be back with the tutorial after the break. I was getting tired of being cold whilst using my g2 out and about. They will be water resistant and you can use your lcd's 5 finger multi-touch abilities still. =P
Let me know if anyone would be interested in a howto or a video.
Would love to see that.

@Op: If you are in the USA, and have a Sports Chalet in your area, go talk to them. I got a pair of Seirus gloves. They are really light, and thin, but they keep my fingers super warm. And I can still use my phone with them. They are leather on the palm, regular fabric on the back, and only about $20.

When I had my G1 and would ride with it, my motorcycle gloves were thin enough for me to use with the phone.

They aren't worth it in my opinion. Just get fingerless gloves. You have to be really precise with touch capable gloves.

I use Glider gloves.
Thanks!

Www.dotsgloves.com best gloves ever, and they are designed to work properly
My sister bought me Wilson's leather texting gloves. The index finger and thumb tips can be pulled back to expose your fingers/thumbs. Good for a brief text or short browsing, as your finger tips are actually exposed...lol. The leather's nice tho.
I have a pair of Isotoner smartTouch gloves, and while they arent perfect and took getting used to, they have been very nice to have on colder evenings.

Friend of mine ordered the smaller version of the tunebelt and he's ecstatic over it. He's been through a couple too.
My wife loves her tunebelt, not too expensive on amazon either.

Thanks for reply guys!
I was looking at the same model.
AlgorithmX, because you have it, could you comment on quality and usability. I need this thing mostly for sports. It's kind of difficult to judge on picture. Does touch still works through that plastic? How it holds moisture? And how good is velcro?
I posted in the Vibrant and i9000 forums, but I got the larger version of the Tune Belt. It fits with my phone still inside it's TPU case which is what I was looking for. I think the smaller version would be too tight if you want to keep it in your case.
If you have above average sized biceps, you will need the extension as the band is one of the shorter ones I've seen, but luckily the extension is very cheap and works well.
Here are some pics.

No hole for a headphones cord?
And how do I know what is bigger/smaller version? I have only thin silicone on my phone and do not want to take it off every time.

The headphone cord comes out of the flap at the top. I can take a picture later, but it's the same open you slide the phone into, so there's plenty of room.
The model numbers tell you if it's the smaller one or larger one. As you can see in my pics, my phone has a TPU case on it and fits very well inside the armband.
AB82 = Smaller
AB83 = Larger
Finally got my paws on it and used it for a while.
IMHO, this armband is useless for sports. It is like a sponge!
I got bigger version and it fits the phone in the silicon case. However seams inside do not allow plastic to touch the screen, so it's pretty difficult to control phone on the run.

I'm assuming you're talking about the TuneBelt right? If so, it's neoprene. While it may "retain" sweat/moisture, it shouldn't absorb it, neoprene is basically sweat proof. It "retains" some of it temporarily, because the material is breathable (which you definitely want) I have the smaller ab82 that I used with my Touch Pro, and I can tell you from using it at the gym a bunch, if you check it a few hours later, it should be bone dry again as the sweat evaporates out of it, doesn't leave it gross or smelly, etc. Wetsuits are made out of the same material for this sorta reason.
As for the seams on the screen.. ya it looked that way in the pictures above. Still, looks to be the only good solution out currently for phones as big as ours.
Just wanted to share my setup. It seems that a lot of you are really over thinking the physical mount. You don't need two simultaneous phone mounts, Leggos, or other silly gadgets.
It comes down to one simple idea: Attach the G-Tab to your dash with minimally invasive hardware so that it's sturdy, solid and won't go flying at your head in the event of an accident.
Items Needed:
Industrial strength Velcro
TWO thin galvanized steel (bend-able) fencing plates
(Found @ Home Depot, outside in the fencing)
Double-sided 3m mounting tape
FIVE MINUTES
Real simple...
Decide where you want the tablet
Take the two plates & either jam them into a seam in your dash with the double-sided tape (my method) or stick them directly to the dash.
I say to buy the galvanized plates, because you can now bend them to the proper viewing angle once mounted to the dash.
Once you have the mounting and bends done; cover the plates with the velcro.
Now put the opposite velcro pieces on the back of your tablet.
Viola!

Lol... I didn't notice that little piece of extra velcro on my dashmat until I reviewed these pictures.
My other reason for mounting the tablet in this manner is for ease of removal. I like being able to unplug & remove it when I hit a coffee shop, line at the DMV or family get togethers. Lol

very cool setup. Could you maybe take a side picture too just to get another view of how the whole thing looks? Does it move at all when you drive around, like on turns or anything?
Sure, will do. Doesn't move at all. Not even a vibration.

You could have saved even more money by switching to geico.
Great thinking! Went to TAGS Hardware to find some similar hardware to hook up my old Saab 93 car dash with a mount. With the torque app and/or maps running for navigation, it's pretty slick looking.
I have one piece of industrial velcro to stick to the right side dash on the back of the tab and it sits snugly on the left side lip.
More pictures, as requested. Sorry for the delay.
Sweet job April5th! Cheap and very effective.
Yeah! The Torque app is the ****!
I've got a fully built 02' VW Jetta with a 70mm stage 2 turbo. This app gives me very accurate numbers equal to my dyno and 1/4 mile runs. Sweet stuff.

Thanks. I swear this has got to be illegal in GA though. Plus gtab has no intrinsic gps reciever so cant use that excuse.
Hello everyone,
I have this awesome case, however, the one issue I have with it is that the kickstand on it makes standing the phone up while charging impossible, because the charging port faces down.
Has anyone ever modded this? Or anyone know how to get the kickstand off so I can reverse it without causing too much damage?
I've looked inside and out, but there's no screws or any mounting type of hardware.... wonder if it's welded or glued?
This drives me nuts too, but I doubt you're going to be able to modify it without cutting into the rubber. A bummer for sure.
Best feeling/looking case but that does kinda suck

But.......... SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!! I decided to go for it.

1. take a small screwdriver to the back and pry off the black coating, you can remove it. Yes, this breaks the seal (and voids your warranty), but now you can access the entire metal assembly of the kickstand.
2. Then you flip it.
3. Install the hardcase back onto the rubber case that's on the phone (you don't need to seal it back up, cos it fits perfectly, though, you definitely can affix something to the back if you really want), and VOILA! Kickstand phone is charging!
Awesome! Thanks for taking the risk for the rest of us Will definitely be doing this.
Nice.
Now my only complaint is that the stand makes phone sit funny.
Been living with by propping it up and can continue to do so, just a slight annoyance of a other wise good case.

I found this great product for the Nexus 4. It was probably designed for an iphone originally, although they market it for all smartphones. It costs $15 bucks with free shipping and it is a no-brainer at that price.
This stand holds your phone through micro suction pads, so it probably wont work with many cases. I have tried it with the S-line TPU case and it did not hold the phone, although the stand has a small lip on the bottom that will hold any phone that does not stick to it. That being said for those of you that have your Nexus 4 naked, or with any kind of bumper then this product works great. I use it by my desk to hold my phone upright when not in use.
First let me talk about the design. It is a very simple L-shaped stand. It has a micro-suction pad on the bottom and on the face (which holds your phone) these pads are amazingly sticky on smooth surfaces. I have tried it on marble (which is extremely sticky) and on faux wood (which is still very sticky. The Milo holds your phone incredibly well. I would even trust it for holding your phone upside down. I should mention that I have a best skins ever skin on the back of the device and it still holds rock solid. In landscape mode you can push the volume buttons, and the unlock button with one finger, and push hard and your device will not fall. The micro suction pad does get dirty and less sticky, but it can be easily cleaned by sticking some packing tape or clear tape to it and removing it.
Overall I highly recommend this product, Check it out at http://www.bluelounge.com/products/milo/. Let me know if you have any questions and look at the pictures below,
Don't forget to hit thanks if you like this post.

I actually bought the charging orb too but for me this dock is a no brainer at $15, Its very useful. Even in your car or anywhere you need to set your phone down.
I also got one in white when I had my S3. It only works well with phones with a flat back, tried to use it with a Xperia S and it would not stick. Works perfectly with my Nexus 4 with the official bumper on.
Thanks man!

The same thing has been bothering me a lot as well. Usually if I wipe it down with a microfiber most of it goes away but there are still similar specs to the ones in your picture. I just tried using paper and it didn't work too well. I ordered a small pack of the cyber putty, I think that should work better. @rootSU do you think the small 2.6 oz bag will be enough to clean a keyboard as well?
