Using either TnT Lite 3.1.1 or VEGAn-Tab 1.00 b4, my home key now maps to the Clock app as if my device were docked. I don't know why it's doing this; I don't have a dock and have never docked my gTablet. More curiously, the problem doesn't exist in earlier viersions of TnT Lite or VEGAn-Tab 1.00 b3 or earlier.
Maybe there's something somewhere in my gTablet that needs to be cleared? I cleared factory/data reset, cache, and dalvik. I even reformatted my SD.
Any suggestions? I'm at my wit's end.
I am getting the same behavior. Lol I am not home....so can't tinker much. Wanna flash b3 if that will fix it.
If I figure anything out I'll let ya all know...also if anyone else figures it out lmk.
I installed adw launcher and used that instead of the stock launcher that came with vegan beta 4.... It gives you the ability to map the home button to do whatever you want lol.

I never thought of that lol....I just flashed over to b3 of vegan and it seems really stable and fast. So I think I might just switch when the problem is formally addressed

i installed the new 1.4 ROM and now i cant get launcer pro to stick... ill hit home and it will pop up asking what launcher to go to. ill click the box to set as default then select launcher pro... then i can hit home and it will take me to launcher pro, but then out of no where it will pop up again asking what launcher i want to go to?? so ill click the box and set launcher pro as default and it will work for a while then do it again?? anyone have a fix for this?
i should also say that i was having this issue on 1.3.2 right before i installed 1.4...
I have this same issue and I'm stock. Everytime I run Adw it doesn't stay.

So get tired of trying launcher pro so set sense as my default and same thing happens? Must be something clearing out the default. It randomly happens but then I can also make it happen by long pressing the home button to pull last opened apps...
what is launcher pro exactly? ive seen it talked about alot..

go to the market and search for it....you will see what it does...it is free...you can try it..see if you like it..if not delete
I have been running launcher pro plus since BAMF 1.1 and have not had any issues. Other than always constantly customizing.
Are you running free or pay version?
I'm running ADW Launcher EX v1.3.3 and CM7 nightly 81.
So I rename quite a few Apps that I have on my home screens. Now if I restart my phone some apps revert back to their original name and some stay renamed. For example, I rename the Xfinity Mobile app to Comcast and any time I restart the phone it reverts back. Where the the At Bat 11 app that I renamed to MLB does does not revert back. There are quite a few other examples...I guess I could list all apps that do and don't revert if that would help.
It's driving my crazy because I can't figure out what is causing this issue. I've tried using lower versions or ADW and it doesn't make a difference. I doubt it's the nightly build causing it but who knows.
Any thoughts on what I can do here??
After doing some further testing I found that if I try to change which screen is the default home screen it doesn't save it either.
I've been having an ADW Launcher EX problem too on my wifes phone. It's been going on for the last 6 or so nightlies. The problem she has is certain widgets resize themselves or disappear altogether. All that we've been doing is going into ADW settings and clicking "Restart ADW". I can't find the cause of it.
I run ADW on the nightlies as well and I only have widgets set, I've never had a problem. It's weird.
I'm going to install Launcher Pro, uninstall ADW, search for adw in root explorer and delete everything left, restart, and install ADW again.
If that doesn't work I don't know what else to try besides wiping my phone completely and starting fresh. I really don't want to do that but we'll see I guess.
You could just uninstall clear data. Or just restart ur phone and wipe cache and davlik. I've done this before to fix odd occurrences

Well I just did a complete wipe and started fresh with CM7 latest stable build and I'm still having the same issues.
Is there any reason certain Apps can't be renamed/saved for some reason?? The ADW launcher that comes with CM7 works just fine and saves the renamed App names. So It's really confusing why ADW EX wouldn't do the same.
Any other thoughts out there on this??
UPDATE
I just installed ADW LAuncher EX v1.3.1 and it seems to be saving my renamed Apps so far. It seems like v1.3.2 and v1.3.3 are causing the issue for some reason now.....very weird
Is there anything you can do to reduce the lag in getting back to the home screen after closing an application? I've recently upgraded to the CBW 2.2. I've also just loaded adw launcher. It takes 8-10 seconds for the home screen to be functional.

Wow! 8 seconds is steep. All dexter based froyo's have a few problems. Although I dont use it anymore I remember what id do to tweak the whole ROM.
1) Use launcher pro, its lighter and faster than ADW. I also like its effects. Theres a setting in it called keep in memory which stops the launcher from being killed by android so there are less redraws of your app drawer.
2) CB froyo and dexters have memory management problems and slowly with use the memory goes down significantly. Download an app called Autokiller memory optimizer from the market and set it at the strict preset. It basically modifies androids native memory management and allow more memory to be free.
3) Use milestone overclock and set it to 850 mhz 56 Vsel.
Step 2 and 3 are assuming you are rooted at the moment. These worked for me really well when I used the ROM and I had no problems at all.
I uninstalled adw and things seemed snapper. I also installed the suggested memory manager. I had already been playing around with the milestone overclocker and its set to 850/56. When I run setcpu should it say 850? I have it set to 850max 250min.
Even set this way the lag remains when returning to the home screen.

Well thats odd, with similar settings id have a very decent experience. One thing though, do you use many widgets on your homescreen? And does this lag occur when you press the home button from within an app or when you close the app. One thing you could try is setting up a swap partion on your sd card. That always speeds everything up. If you dont know how I can direct you to where you can learn how to do that. Also how did you upgrade to 2.2 CB?
hi try the go luncher i think its the best launcher.

It's slow whether I'm switching to home using the home button or escaping there.
If I've set milestone overclock to 850 mhz and vsel to 56 should setcpu show 850? It shows 720.

Try installing Autokiller Memory Optimizer from the market and selecting the Optimum memory profile. That used to work for me when I was running that ROM.
I've found lots of launchers to have lots of lag returning to homescreen on both androids I have had and it's a common issue with android launchers. The only launcher I have that doesn't redraw homescreen every time is SPB shell (but it still has to re-load every now and then). You can try using a launcher like Zeam, launcherpro, or golauncher, nemus launcher as those ones didn't redraw as often as others for me. And if the option is available in a launcher (it is in ADW, launcherpro and Go) select "Keep in Memory" and it might help somewhat.
My XT720 has always lagged when returning to the home screen. I only recently loaded a launcher after hearing reverendkjr talk about liking adw. I only kept adw loaded for a day. Its not installed anymore.
I thought upgrading to 2.2 would end the lag but it wasn't to be.
I've loaded autokiller and set it to strict. I still have times when it takes 8 seconds or so for the home screen to be functional. I do have a 4x2 clock / weather widget on the home screen. I've tried with and without that widget and still have bouts of lag. Maybe I'm expecting much.

Yeah, seems a problem with pretty much all launchers. Stock MIUI launcher and SPB Shell have been the only exceptions for me really. Even Zeam has done its reloading often.

Dude, this almost sounds like a hardware issue or something. How's the rest of the phone? Like when you open apps or browse web pages. Honestly i've used every froyo build and ive never had it that bad. Sluggish for me would be a second or two nothing more than that. Like in my previous comment if you're upto it you could try setting up a swap partition as a final test. After that maybe you need to reflash an sbf and go through the upgrade process from scratch. That always fixes things.

Yeah, when I had reloads it was generally not that long. If I had a lot of widgets out it might take longer to load up but I don't recall it really being 8 seconds or so...

I do have some weirdness when the battery goes dead. The phone has problems seeing the sdcard after I charge. That happens occasionally but other than that no major problems.

SPB is buttery smooth. Amazing launcher - check out reviews for it online (there are a bunch). However, currently it only runs well for me on either MIUI or 2.1 (on Dexter or WanHu ROMs it has issues). And while it doesn't reload every time like other launchers, it does have to load itself up once in a while when things run out of memory (it's pretty memory intensive I think). They really need to provide it with an update already though (more widgets + features + performance improvements should come sometime, but I don't know when...).
For some reason SPB won't show up in the market on MIUI (there were a bunch of missing apps for me). I emailed SPB support about it and they gave me a copy of one from their website to install as an apk and it worked perfectly. I did already own SPB from android market. You can go to their site and buy the apk directly if you want. It is more expensive than most apps, so you may want to wait until they do that long expected update before diving in. Still, it's a fantastic launcher.
My Nexus S (i9020a) is running on Jelly Bean, and after recently uninstalling the beta of Apex Launcher and then reinstalling the stable version, I noticed that my Power Control widget was gone.
After I noticed that, I uninstalled Apex Launcher completely (cleared data for the app first to be sure). Still, the Power Control widget was no longer available on my phone.
For the time being, I have downloaded a third-party equivalent off of the Play Store, but I'd really like to know what happened here. Has this happened to anyone else? If so, is there any way to get it back?

Nope. That's a third-party app. The stock Power Controls Widget is nowhere to be found in the app store.
Hi
I'm on the Nexus 7 and have noticed exactly the same thing. This is the stock Android Power Control Widget. It was there with stock launcher and also with Nova Beta, but with Apex, its nowhere to be found.
This just happened on my GNex as well. I figure we're suffering the same issue. Mine vanished after trying out a few 3rd party ones strangely enough. I haven't found anything yet to fix it. Rebooting after an uninstall didn't help either. Any ideas, peeps?

Lol. What the hell? I'm using Widgetsoid for the time being, but this was totally random. I tried reflashing my stock ROM, pushing the launcher via ADB. Zip. Ziltch. Nada. Wonder what could be causing it...

Word. I don't really care anymore. It's more of a nuisance that I can't find out why it did.
It becomes unavailable in the widget drawer? What if you on press an empty area on the desktop and select widgets, is it in that list?

No, no longer in the list (for me anyway).
Hi,
Just my 2 cents.... I'm not sure About JB but all other ROMs the app had to be on the phones memory for the widget to even be available or on the widget list.... so perhaps whichever file the power control is in, maybe it got switched over to SD card
Or
An App that was installed moved the files that are needed for that power control widget.
I know its a stab in the dark but ...
Good luck

Go launcher ex
Replace your launcher with GO LAUNCHER EX, free on the Play Store. It is the BEST launcher by FAR. Super fast, tons of options, always free.
Thanks but no thanks
Did a factory reset and Power Control widget is back (on stock launcher), stock N7 JB.
I figured that's what I would have to do to get it back. Thanks for reporting back with a fix .

No worries. Have posted the problem on the main Alex thread, but no comments on it. Also have emailed the Dev, so hopefully it can be resolved soon.

Hi all,
I recently got the Kindle Fire version 10.2.3, and installed ADW Launcher for it. This worked fine, but then a few days after installing, one of my widgets stopped displaying. I tried to remove the widget and add it again, but after removing it I couldn't get it back. When I clicked on the "widget" button to add it, nothing happened.
I tried to remedy this by updating to ADW Ex, and everything else worked fine, but again, I cannot add or alter or do anything with widgets.
When I press down on the home screen and the options pop up, all of them work, except for 'widgets'. I can see the icon, but upon pressing it nothing happens.
I have deleted and reinstalled both ADW and ADW Ex several times, and always the same happens. I don't know what to do! It's really annoying because ADW seems to be the only launcher that works with this version of the Fire. But the widgets are a central function of the launcher and I want them to work!
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks in advance!

I don't know what it could be though. It doesn't make much sense. Any ideas? Has this been known to happen with specific apps?
