[Q] - Confused D2/DX SBF, which is which - Droid 2 Global General

I've been really having a hard time following the DX and D2 differences in this forum. It seems as though the DX and D2 are able to use each other's SBF. I wanted to confirm if I flash 2.3.320/2.3.340 to my D2 in addition, will it allow me to install the latest ROMS?
Thanks.

Neither one is for the D2, you want 2.3.20...

Do you have a D2G? You posted this question in the D2G section. The D2 has two different SBF's the old 2.2.0 and the newest 2.3.2.0
If you have the Update from verizon (2.3.2.0) then you shouldn't need to flash anything to install the roms and even if you didn't have the update the ROM would update your phone and you should be fine. The only thing you shouldn't flash are old roms from when we had the old Verizon base 2.2.0 because those will mess up your phone if you have the update because the update changed the kernel and some other stuff which won't allow the old one to be flashed.
But if you have a D2G, the D2G doesn't have an SBF out yet so D2G's have to be careful.

Holy crap! I didn't realize I posted in the D2G section. I have a D2, NOT the D2G. The D2G needs it's own area, not the D2 area. They are "different," so shouldn't they be separated?
Thanks for the tips. I'm gonna flash some ROMs tonight. I miss this stuff since my poor Eris took a crap.

[Q] I got a question about gingerbread

Hey guys as you may know gingerbread is running on almost every device now even my Droid Eris has 2.3 so I was wondering since the have cm7 for milestone now and it seems to be running pretty good and they can't flash custom kernels either I'd love to see 2.3 on this bad boy since got an almost 100% working froyo. Does anyone know what files are needed to get 2.3 up and running idc if anything works I just want it to mess with. Any input would be awesome.

The bootloader isn't unlocked on the XT720. Gingerbread isn't possible unless Motorola decides to unlock it or releases 2.3 for it (which is extremely unlikely).

Did you even read his post? He talked about CM7 on the normal Milestone 1, which isn't unlocked either. CM 7 is based on 2.3 If it works on the Milestone 1 with locked bootloader, then chances are big it works on the XT720 too.
Yes milestone 1 has a locked bootloader just like us they just have more developers than we do. Dexter gave me some insight on how to get it running so I'm gonna give it a try. I dont know alot about porting roms but Im reading up on it. We should be able to get it working tho. If anyone's knows anything about porting should give it a look.

[Q] Droid X 2.3.340 SBF Help

So I SBF'd my DX to 2.3.340 successfully with RSD Lite... but it keeps coming up with 4G after the SBF. Since I have 3G, I cannot use internet or connect to Google or anything! How can I SBF to 2.3.340 with 3G? Or is there an easy fix I'm not aware of?
Umm...what? What do you mean it's coming up with 3G? Did you use the correct SBF file?
Forum mod, please move this to the appropriate Droid X forum also, probably...
It doesnt come up as 3G (which I need) It is an SBF for 2.3.340 4G. I have downloaded about 10-15 different SBF files and all are 4G. Do you know of another one for 3G? Because I have looked for about 5 months now.
curious
That doesn't seem right considering the only "4G" motorola devices are with sprint and not verizon do a bit more research it shouldn't be too hard to find.

Google 2.3.340 sbf for droid x first site click and you're good to go

droid x sbf to froyo

OK, I have looked on the internet and have not found a clear answer. Is it safe, or even possible to sbf to stock froyo from the official ota android 2.3.3 gingerbread build for the Droid X
This thread has been up for a while, and I guess I might as well answer my own problem.maby my question will help others.Yes, you certainly can sbf flash from the gingerbread over the air build on the droid x and numerous other phones to froyo. Another phone is the droid 2 global. You can go from build 4.5.607 gingerbread to 2.4.29 froyo.
sbf stands for super base 95 file I believe
What exactly does sbf stand for?

[Q] Flashing Rogers ROM on AT&T Infuse

Hi all,
I am UNBELIEVABLY new at Android. Actually, because I now work in a more techy environment I've decided to buy an Android phone to check it out (being mainly an iOS user... no tomatos plz). SO I settled on this really great shape Infuse 4G from AT&T on eBay. Work fantastic. But... I'm in Canada. And I really want to have the French Canadian localization on the phone (there is French, but the keyboard layout is different - azerty vs qwerty - and the general local settings are whacked).
Since I'll be on Rogers anyway, is there a way for me to get the Rogers dump on my phone? I realize they aren't on the same version so I'm not sure how to do this.
So, any help to a total noob would be appreciated. I plan obviously on rooting and unlocking, which I assume I should do first to get the Rogers version on there. I'll read into that now...
Thanks

Bone stock Rogers ROMs with stock kernel will have issues with rainbows at boot due to bootloader incompatibilities.
If you are primarily looking for localization - all Gingerbread ROMs here are based on the Rogers dump (Although I don't think Hellraiser and derived ROMs carry the localization stuff from Rogers, but from the I9000 ROM that is being ported instead.)
Infused 2.x should have the locales you need since it's heavily based off of UXKG3.
Thanks! I didn't realize how complicated this could get... reminds me of my old WM6 days! But that should get me going.
If you don't mind me asking, would there be a way to simply add the localizations to the current ATT ROM without flashing? I'd like to get a bit more acquainted with Android on a stock ROM before I go nuts with modding...
And while I'm at it, is there an easy way, once I would hypothetically flash the phone, to restore it to ATT ROM if I want to resell it for instance?
Thanks so much for the help!

As to adding localizations - that one I don't know. Considering that Infused 2.x is still missing US English due to its Canadian roots, it may not be that easy.
As to flashing back to stock - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116251
You're my new best friend
hi!
I have found a Rogers Infuse complete dump, all i need is for someone to tar & md5 it, then us canadians who think the "odin stock" program is for canada... (its for at&t) - can get our rogers settings back...

There is a back to stock for Rogers...but it will give you issues if you have an Att phone

If you use the Rogers ROM you want to use a custom kernel. If not you will have no recovery and rainbows on boot. You can also flash the new kj2 bootloaders if you use heimdall, that would allow you to use the stock kernel if you wanted to.
thanks...

[Q] A little help on flashing ROMs

Alright, so I have a Verizon Droid 2, flashed over to Cricket. What I want to know is if I try to flash a ROM to my phone (like Steel Droid or CM) would it affect my cell phone service or anything? Also, are there any working root techniques for the Droid 2 anymore? If it helps, I'm running 2.3.4 and I can't find one anywhere.
