[Resolved] Bootstrapper vs Clockwork - General Questions and Answers

I'm fairly new to all this jazz. I used bootstrapped to flash clockwork recovery. Is there a way that bootstrapper can flash the latest version of clockwork recovery? How do I go about doing this? When I try using rom manager its a no go...

IncDoes v0.91 Error?!?!?!

First this is the ROM I am talking about http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=790066
I have been trying to flash this ROM onto my HTC Droid Incredible, but I repeatedly get an error. Here is the error:
Amend scripting (update-script) is no longer supported.
Amend scripting was deprecated by Google in Android 1.5.
It was necessary to remove it when upgrading to the ClockworkMod 3.0 Gingerbread based recovery.
Please switch to Edify scripting (updater-script and update-binary) to create working update zip packages.
I am currently using ClockWorkMod Recovery 3.0.0.8. I did some looking around and found that I may need to downgrade. How will I do this and which recovery do I downgrade to for this ROM to flash to my HTC Incredible.
Thanks, TheMayne

Can anyone please help me?

Put this file on your SD card, (http://mirrorbrain.cyanogenmod.com/cm/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.7-inc.zip )and flash it in ClockworkMod Recovery 3.0.0.8 and it will temporarily downgrade you to ClockworkMod 2.5.0.7. Just flash your ROM in that recovery. Just be aware that this version of ClockworkMod will only be temporary. It will go back to 3.0.0.8 next time you boot the device into recovery. Hope this helps and if you have any questions just ask
Do I go into ClockWorkMod Recovery and flash this by flashing and alternate recovery or do I have to do it in the ClockWorkMod menu by holding power and the volume up button? If i have to do it in the menu how would i do that?

I believe he said flash it in clockwork (recovery). Go to install zip from SD card and flash the file he attached.

SBF - Bootstrapper Recovery

I just downloaded the SBF from another thread and with the impending update I'd like to go back to stock. Can I flash the sbf with the bootstrapper recovery, or does it have to be through RSD?
Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using XDA App
It has to be through rsdlite, make sure you have the proper drivers installed on your computer as well. Its all automated, as soon as you tell rsdlite to start, it does everything by itself, just remember to go into recovery by pressing x on bootup and wipe data/cache and you'll be perfectly fine (I just sbf'ed as well in anticipation, running stock rooted with bloatware removed and no bootstrap)

Did you try using bootstrap recovery to flash the original ROM? Would that work?
Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using XDA App
it depends on where you got the sbf from, if its the rooted and deodexed rom from the get r done forums, then that is not the one you want to flash, the file should have an extension of .sbf in order for it to be flashed in rsdlite, if what you got was a .zip file, try unpacking it.
Got it done.

[Q] Flashing CWM onto rooted SGS 4G

Hey. So I rooted my T-Mobile SGS 4G (stock 2.2 firmware) with SuperOneClick. That was super easy, I tested it out with a few utilities and I definitely have root.
So I went into rom manager and pushed the button to flash clockwork mod. It asked me for superuser status, said it was successful, but then it boots into the stock samsung recovery. I've tried this several times and I always have the same result. I'm sorry if there's an answer on this already but I'll be damned if I could figure out how to search for it without coming up with a bunch of unrelated problems.
Thanks!
Try going into clockwork and choosing boot to recovery then after that if it goes into stock recovery choose reinstall packages sometimes you have to choose reinstall twice. That's how I got mine into cwm first time

Oh no that's the problem, I can't get clockwork to boot. No matter how many times I install it using the installer inside rom manager, the stock recovery boots up.
ROM MANAGER DOES NOT WORK. USE KRYLONS CWM FINAL IN THE DEV SECTION.

Yea I no, but wen u boot into it you get the stock 3e recovery and there is an option to reinstall packages

You need to download krylons modified recovery.bin file and use a file explorer app to push the file to system/bin. You need to also have the file update.zip on the root of your SD card. Then you boot into stock recovery and choose reinstall packages. This will boot you into cwm.
