Some GTablet users are running into a problem with the machine going into hibernate mode while downloading the update - especially now that the traffic is picking up as more people are updating. If you haven't done so yet, be sure to set your hibernation setting to NEVER before beginning the update.
If you have modded your GTablet to the point that you can no longer receive OTA updates, keep an eye out on the Viewsonic Gtablet site... rumor has it that they will be releasing a link to download the new image along with instructions for those who can't update via OTA.
Also, keep your eyes peeled for that kernel source!
Many Thanks! That was exactly the problem. I did as you suggested, and was able to download the upgrade on the very first try... after over an hr. of trying. Thanks!

Hi,
Where's that hibernation setting?
Jim
Not Poisitive but Try Display
From Settings, Display/Screen Timeout/Never
I believe another way to keep your tab alive while charging and still have hibernate when unplugged from the charger is,
settings, applications, development, stay awake.
Screen will never sleep while charging.

For the past couple of weeks my stock unrooted Transformer has been telling me there is a system firmware update available and to check notifications. But notifications never shows this update and the Check Update button is disabled. Any known solutions to this frustrating situation short of (yet another) factory reset? Thanks.
Come on can't anyone help this guy?
Bumped to make sure this guy gets an answer. I don't know the answer but I know someone here does.

Bumping every hour is a bit much imo...
Try this:
Goto Settings > Applications > All > Scroll down to DMClient > Clear Cache and Clear Data and Force Stop
Reboot the TF and check for updates again
Found here: http://www.transformerforums.com/forum/asus-transformer-general-discussions/9026-please-help-me-update-issue.html
Im sorry. I was trying to be helpful as I didn't have the answer
The notification will be in the bottom right corner i believe it is an aarow.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Thanks everyone for your help. Once I cleared the data and forced stop DMClient (the cache was already empty) and rebooted I can use the Check Update button again. Unfortunately it makes no difference - it tells me a system firmware update is available but it never appears in the notification area. Other notifications appear fine and I have in the past been able to update the firmware this way but not this time.
Doesn't Asus eventually make these firmware updates available on their website? Hate to do another factory reset as getting everything back to the way it was is a major pain. That's why I was looking forward to a working Asus backup with the new firmware. Oh well, my Transformer has always hated me and the feeling is pretty much mutual these days.

Is your battery over 50% at the moment? Because that is another requirement, also you can try a reboot with adapter connected and battery over 50%.
Good luck!
Thanks. My battery had been fully charged previously but I tried again with it plugged in and the dock removed. Still no notification. Tried turning notifications off/on, cleared data and forced stopped DMClient and restarted several times. No notification.
The weirdest damn thing happened to me...I received a system update available notification (i.e. ICS) as I was going to bed. I thought I'd just do it in the morning. When I woke up, the notification was gone, and if i try to go to manually do a system update, it says device is up to date.
anyone experience such an issue, and how can I resolve this?
thanks
Same thing happened to me. I was on 3G and decided when I get home I'd use wifi to download and update. Now it says up to date.
so weird!! all other updates previously would remain for days... anyone find a solution to this yet?
Same happened to me to this morning, it disappeared

wait or
you can update ics by making manual promotion
I prefer to avoid manual for two reasons:
1- I still believe the actual OTA version varies slightly than what is claimed to be the official OTA release in zip format. Little touches are always done before pushing an OTA update.
2- I have a broken power button, so can't do much in bootloader, or even get into it.
Perhaps google took it back to do some more bug fixing. But I'd like to hear an official statement if that's the case

Please explain. I've tried:
Checkin
System Updates
Resetting phone.
Seems like the update was pulled. No matter what I do it says the phone is up to date. With all these stories of people bricking their phones I want to stay relatively legit.

Same thing. When I heard google started pushing ICS, I flashed back my nandroid backup of my stock 2.3.4 to get the OTA update, Immediately I got 2.3.6 update and installed it, and few hours later when I wasn't home I got the 4.0.3 update, and I thought I'll do it when I get home, but then it disappeared and doesn't comes back no matter what I do.
I did backup to the corrent stock (2.3.6) and tried to flash back to 2.3.4, thought maybe it will push me again, but now it doesn't push me 2.3.6 either.
Are OTA updates one-time only ? or it supposed push me 2.3.6 again ?
anyways I restored 2.3.6 and I wait hopefully to 4.0.3 again.
Please update here if you know any solution. I know I can install it manually, but I prefer clean OTA version.
after I update to ICS manually, the VPN doesnot work, so I flashed back to 2.3.6 and want to update by OTA.
but till then, the 2.3.6 system says it's up to date...
looks like it's pulled by google...hopefully for some enhancements... still waiting for something official
we had it in our hands and we lost it
Same story.
Last night I saw the system update notification and after 30' (charging the battery) I lost it.
I suppose it's due to issues with ICS 4.0.3. For example I can't make outgoing calls (SMS, incomming calls and data - works fine). Had to revert back to 2.3.6. Now everything works. So for two days i saw update notification and today it dissapeared. So I hope they found a problem and will fix it soon.
yeah, I guess I'm glad I didn't install it then. I'm sure it was pulled for a valid reason, so it's best to wait...fingers crossed that it won't be too long of a wait.
In the mean time I think I need to get my power button fixed, or hope the widgetlocker works on ICS so I can use my volume locker to wake the screen!!

Not an official story by any means but it looks like there is definitely something going on.

EDIT: I just noticed one of his sources links back here.
Hi,
sorry for opening a new thread with yet another question about firmware, but i can't find any discussions on this matter.
Yesterday, i was going to my friends place and i "docked" a tablet, put it in a sleeve, before i went there.
When i came there and opened a pad, i had a notification about dock firmware. Pressed it. An "app" opened and there was a message it needs to download some files and that it should take about a minute to do so. I didn't had a WiFi connection so I ( don't really know what exactly) dismissed it and did some work on other things.
Well, later on, when i connected to WiFi I wanted to run dock firmware update again, but i can't find this thing anymore.
I reattached dock, but i have no new notifications. Also tried about tablet > system updates, but there is nothing there or be found by the checker, as i think it only checks for tablet firmware.
So, obvious question: how can i force a new update on a dock, where can i find it to update it manually ... or do i just need to wait for the next time it is recognized again and update it than?
Thanks, and sorry again...
It seems like attaching the dock might have something to do with the dock update notification becoming available. Maybe you can try forcing the update by turning the tablet off, undocking it, turning it back on, then redock it? It might just be initially in a state where it won't ask until it "finds" the dock and that when its turned on with the dock already attached, its state doesn't trigger the update. Just something to try. Otherwise, you'll just have to wait until it decides that the update is ready to be applied again.
In regards to specifically updating dock firmware, I think that us having to wait for the notification is really unfortunate. The firmware cannot be downloaded from the ASUS website, there is a huge lack of discussion involving keyboard updates on da web, and I haven't really seen any other way to update it than via the notifications. That makes me .
Tried many things but the update doesn't come back.
Seems like it is done on schedule or something...once per month or something.
My TF201 Dock Keyboard was at revision 206. Upon inserting my TF700T for the first time into the TF201 Dock Keyboard there was an update automatically applied to my Dock Keyboard which brought it up to revision 207. From that time going forward I have not gotten any notification of another Dock Keyboard revision update.

Huh, I'm on 0207 myself. Maybe its the most recent version of the firmware? Dunno.
I didn't get the update immediately. It showed up after a few days. That being said, it updated to 0207 so it looks like you're on the latest version =)
I think somebody mentioned in another thread getting an update notification while being on .207, updating and still seeing it being .207, some weird stuff happening. ;>

That is weird indeed.
So I SWEAR I saw this mentioned somewhere earlier today but after searching I can't seem to locate it.
As the title says. I have Automatic system updates turned OFF. Turned that off right after I got it unlocked and rooted.
Verizon Pixel XL NDE63P
Today I get a notification regarding Android 7.1 Update. I didn't tap on it, couldn't clear it. Was concerned that the update might auto install without my permission or something. Well that hasn't happened, and NOW the notification is gone. I don't want to update yet...
I was thinking that turning off automatic system updates would mean it wouldn't even check to know there was an update. Am I going to be living with a nag that comes back with a hair trigger update button. Had that on Samsungs in the past. Will make you crazy always having to tell it NO try tomorrow every day...
Just wanted to see if anyone had seen this behavior or if I was just loosing my marbles here.
Thanks!
Screwit, just sideloaded the update. Everything is good, unlocked, rooted, customer kernel etc...
OK...I've had this phone for a month and a half and today was the third software update notification I've gotten. REALLY? I've installed both the other updates, and I don't want to be forced to install any more. "I" want to decide when to update, not anyone else. I've turned off all notifications....how do I keep the phone from auto-updating? I've learned how to get to the developer options...turned off auto updates, but they still show up. Is there a way to REALLY turn them off, or am I at the mercy of AT&T and Samsung?
