[Q] Location Services via Wi-Fi? - G Tablet General

Does anybody have Google Location Services working via Wi-Fi? Everything says waiting for GPS.

I have wondered why this tablet can't figure out where it is also. Every other Android device I own can figure out where it is with wifi, but not the G tablet.
I wonder if the location services are just missing or something. Would be nice if it would work.

[Q] USB/Bluetooth GPS

Hi there,
I'm loving my Surface so far (Had it for two weeks) and would like to know if anyone has managed to pair it with a USB or Bluetooth GPS unit?
If yes, does it work well with the included Bing maps? Or are there any other good apps for use with a GPS?
I potentially have two uses for the device with GPS enabled.
1) As a navigation device
2) As a GPS logger that can log my position and export the data to be used in Photoshop Lightroom to geotag my photos.
If anyone has done this can they please share with GPS device you have tried and how your experiences have been?
I was hoping that using my Android phone as a WiFi hotspot would allow Bing maps access to the GPS location of my phone...but I don't think it works.
I was able to pair it with my BT GPS but no luck actually getting any apps to work with it...

Do you guys have the Windows location platform enabled? I think it may be off by default, which prevents apps from getting your location even when the OS has it.
Open Start, type "location", and look under Settings.

Location on watch

Does anyone know if it's possible to get GPS on the watch without the phone being paired. Everytime I try tracking in s-health it will only track my route if GPS is on on my phone. Similarly in here maps I can't get a location fix if GPS is not turned on my phone.

I know that the LTE version can transmit GPS location without being connected to a smartphone. I'm not sure about the BT only model.

I also have the LTE version. It works but you have to go into the settings and turn on the location in settings. I don't know how it works with BT version. You may want to go in and see if you have location settings.
As far as maps, you may be out of luck. You will still need the phone to send the map to the watch. With the LTE version I can get a map or navigate in standalone because I have a LTE connection to retrieve the data.
Now I did notice one thing. When I am connected to my phone, my S3 gets GPS from the phone and not the watch. The GPS on the watch only goes on when not connected to the phone.

Gear s3 gps problems

Hi!
I was wandering, whats with the gps in s3? It says that is an standalone gps but i cant have a lock unless i am connected to a mobile phone using location mode. As far as i know this standalone gps, without phone works only with s health but whats with the other apps? When will be or will there be at all fix to that problem.. I would like to use that standalone gps on maps or some other app aswell.. thx
Make sure in settings that location is using GPS and cellular network to get a fix. There is an app called Gear Navigator S that is a standalone. It works without being paired to a phone. Now how useful it is given a 1" screen is another matter...

I've used the standalone gps with several apps and my phone not available. I really haven't had a problem at all with it.

Can anyone help? I cannot use my watch for the golf navi global app anymore unless I'm connected to phone. I used to be able to use watch without being connected and all worked fine. All updates are done and location set at GPS. Can anyone help?

I've been having issues too with standalone GPS since installing one of the recent updates. Very annoying. (it does seem to work when paired to my phone via bluetooth though)

GPS stopped working

I have an S2 classic wifi. The GPS worked fine for tracking runs etc then it stopped. Right about the time I got an upgrade I think. Now it says cannot establish link with GPS. Works fine on my phone. This is with all GPS tracking functions. Anyone else? Any ideas?
I thought only 3G/4G model comes with GPS. My WiFi model has no built-in GPS. Your WiFi model has GPS?
Not built in but it slaves off the phone (I think). And that's not working.
No. It slaves off the phone but still provides location data. Or used to.

GPS Data via Mock Location on Fire 10 (2021)

Hi,
I am trying to be able to use my new Fire for navigation in my car. I realize it does not have a built-in GPS, but there are a number of apps that will let you share GPS from another device via bluetooth or WiFi.
They all rely on the ability to set a Mock Location App in Developer options.
I have used the toolkit and installed Google Play services, and downloaded an app that I know works on my other Android tablet. "GPS Connector". It has a simulation mode, as well as using BT or USB for real GPS data from another device.
I have also installed an app called "Fake GPS location" which just allows you to pick a spot in the world, and then sends that GPS info to the tablet for other apps to use.
Both apps rely on the Mock Location App being set to the app.
When I use Fake GPS location, it works as it should. Apps on the tablet get the fake location and behave as expected.
When I use GPS Connector, it does not work. The tablet acts like there is no GPS info available.
The obvious diagnosis would be its a problem with the GPS Connector app (and it may well be), however the app works fine elsewhere. And, I have downloaded three similar apps, and none of them work on the Fire either (but work elsewhere).
Wondering if anyone here has any ideas? I have seen posts and videos of this working, but likely on older OS/tablets so not sure if Amazon has done something.
Appreciate the help!
