I boot directly into recovery mode every time I shut down and or cold boot my phone. I'm not too sure why, but if I can get help on how to get a log that will show if and or why it is happening, thank you.
into boostrap recovery? mine does that too. i never thought anything of it, just hit reboot system now and it boots like normal. slightly annoying but no big deal i dont think.

Yes, into bootstrap recovery. It sometimes boots when I plug it into charge after a complete shutdown. True, it's just an extra step, I guess it's good in a way. Haven't figured out how, but just a wild guess. Thank you for the reply botnryan
botnryan, how did you get your phone to boot into bootstrap after looping?

im guessing youre talking about when i pretty much bricked it after applying a theme? Well, i had it on (looping) and pulled the battery and immediately reinserted it. you shouldnt have to hold down the power button for it to come back on, and it SHOULD boot into bootstrap recovery. Now the 2nd time i bricked my first d2g, this didnt work, therefore i couldnt fix it. Hopefully it works for you. Try plugging it in to charge and then pulling/reinserting the battery too.

This is a safety feature so if you've messed up your phone but not too bad you can get into recovery and fix your mistake.

How do you wipe bootstrapper recovery? In case I ever have to return my GF's D2G I would like to get it back to stock before I take it in.

When you try "reboot now", what happens?
Charge phone for awhile and FXZ back to stock. The phone will charge if you turn it off and plug into wall charger.

And if you have CWM on boot installed you need to either delete the bootstrap apk, or deny it su rights in super user. It's either one or the other, not both.

pull the battery, then put it back after a few seconds and hold both volume buttons while turning it on. choose normal powerup and see if that will boot it. you can also try bp tools.

You have CWM on boot installed so this is what it's going to do every time you reboot.
You have to select "reboot now" to get it to boot up normally after getting to CWM.
Have you selected " reboot now" and what were the results?
I have seen people even having this type of trouble on other phones as well, If you are unable to charge your battery Get a battery only charger from ebay using which you will be able to charge your battery then use FXZ you will be fine

Maybe you should but a ROM in your SD card, get the SD card out put in another phone or MicroSD card adaptor, put a ROM in it and flash it, it should fix the issue. It's not the best idea but it should work.

Sounds as though he's just not familiar with CWM and its functions. I don't see how CWM can just hang there unless the user isn't selecting any of its functions to run...

Actually, if there is an issue with the boot image, it may NOT go past CWM, becuase it can't even check the boot partition if it is corrupted, so it will not even attempt it. I think there was link a few posts up that explained something similar.
I saw this a WHOLE lot with my inspire 4g, where the boot partition became corrupted on reboot, and CWM would not even attempt to boot.
I think tmease1 was right an fxz restore is the best fix at this point, just hope that the boot partition is not so borked that even that does not fail.

Ah, yes... indeed, if his boot image or system image is borked it WOULD NOT boot passed CWM in that case. Hard to diagnose the issue if we don't know what else has been done. Won't RSDlite flash the boot image in the unfortunate chance that his boot image is fudged?

Yeah, but if I remember correctly, I think I saw a few users who still had issues restoring with RSDlite and even with the moto-fastboot commands, if the boot partition was deleted or so corrupted that it could not overwrite it. Now I have not done a search but just going off of what I remember, so I could be incorrect here though.
I fixed it I saw a post on another forum (forgot which one to anxious to try it) but it would only charge while connected to a computer led was white while charging unlike when connected to a wall charger (no led) it decided to reboot itself as I'd I selected reboot now from CWM I am thankful for all of you guys input. And I'm still gonna get a extended battery so this doesn't happen when I'm away for long periods of times...by the way the standard battery last about two days of moderate usage but can I use an extended battery designed for the Droid Bionic I figured I could but I'm not sure could it hurt?

if it fits and i the same voltage, it should be fine from a hardware standpoint, not sure what the phone will think of it though, I don't know if it does any kind of check.
Oh and every time I was turning it off and connecting to wall charger it would auto boot back to CWM then I would try to "reboot now" and it would fail and I did that continuously for a few hours sorta a manual boot loop lol glad I fixed it though even though it wasn't too broke

Yeah, Moto is finicky about having the battery somewhat charged, and will not usually let you fully boot without it in, I think I read in some document on the Motorola forum that it had to do with the bootloader, and it was a "safeguard".
Good to see you're back up and running
But anything that may change the state would be a huge help if you have a thought?
All I have right now is a quick LED and battery charge signal for a second then gone.
I can't get into download or recovery mode or power on.
I switched CWM versions (after a nandroid and attempting to reinstall the previous CWM would error) and then tried to flash cm10.
I went into bootloop and tried to pull the battery since i couldnt force it to recovery so i could restore factory but nothing now.
Again, I think i screwed myself, but if you can save me money I'd appreciate any thoughts.
dont know how to help man. unless you know how to jtag, it sounds like you are hard bricked. by the way, you do know that cm10 is SUPPOSED to bootloop for a few minutes on every boot right? or maybe your battery was really low during flash, or maybe you got a bad md5 sum for your download? more info on what you did to make this happed would make it easier to help you.
Make sure your doing the right combination for download mode. Volume down home button and power.

yeah. it rebooted over a dozen times.
im not sure if when i updated CWM to touch and a newer version if for whatever reason it didnt recognize the nandroid from an hour earlier.
but that doesnt really make sense.
i have to think i did something wrong with the recovery img
so now there is no response to any of the hardware buttons.
crap. and thanks.
How about listing the steps on what you did to get where you are now.?
I've had somewhat similar problem. Mine turned out to be dead battery and phone wouldn't charge. I ended up charging battery on buddies phone, which allowed phone to boot. Then I wiped everything and started from scratch. Everything returned to normal
So I wanted to get CM10 up and running on my phone. I root it with no problem, then use Adam Outler's unsecure bootloader CASUAL package to unlock the bootloader. I installed Clockwork Mod trough the terminal emulator, then tried booting into recovery mode. All I got was a screen with a Samsung logo that says "RECOVERY BOOTING...." in the corner. The screen shut off almost immediately and then nothing else happened. I took the battery out and tried to start the phone, got the same thing. It's all I get when I try to restart the phone, even when I try to boot into download mode. Is it irretrievably hard-bricked?
How are you booting into download. Volume down/power/home. What happens when you plug into PC. What does it show in device manager. If on Mac does it show in casual still. I don't know Mac so will be harder for me to troubleshoot. If you are showing something you have a chance. Sounds like you have no recovery. Should be able to see with PC, casual or Odin.
That's how I was trying to boot into download mode. It wasn't working. Left the battery out for a while and then it did work. Without doing anything the phone boots up normally now, too. Should I count my blessings and not do anything more to it, or should I go ahead with flashing the ROM?

You are blessed. I would reflash recovery using either ez-recovery from the market or goo manager first. Not sure if you recovery is good. I prefer TWRP but is to each their own. I would stay away from AOKP and CM for now till you have more experience with the device. Next need to backup your IEMI. If you flash Synergy ICS it will do it for you and it is very stable. There is also an adb version that does the same thing. I am gonna PM you with my other recommendations as they will draw unneccessary flaming. lol Glad you survived as many have not. lol
your battery was probably low when flashing...these phones do wierd **** when the battery completely dies.

So, my phone got soaked in water for I think 10mins or more? I'm not really sure but when I found out, we immediately removed the battery then disassembled it and let it dry for 2 hours then since I'm at work, I reassemble it and went home. My travel time is about 1 1/2 hour then I take out my cellphone and let it dry for about 2 hours.
Okay, after that 2 hours, I tried opening again my phone, I attached the battery and TURNED it ON by pressing the power button, then it opens but it won't pass the Google logo... I remove the battery and attached it again then I tried to go to recovery mode, I got in bootloader but when I tried to boot again in recovery, it still won't pass the Google logo, I removed the battery again and tried to boot it again but when I attached the battery, it AUTOMATICALLY TURNED ON then I detached the battery again and dry it again overnight until now...
So my question is, do you think my phone will still work? Or perphaps I won't be able to use it again? I'm worried since it's my only android phone I have.
Please enlighten me! Thank you.
EDIT:
SOLVED!!!
Okay, my phone is working again, thanks to my father who clean the board using thinner and it's now smooth as it is before, well, as of now and I'm still observing if there's damage left...
Thanks for everyone who helped. LOL

Is your bootloader unlocked?
If yes, then install a custom recovery and backup all the stuff you have by mounting SD card.
Then, flash the factory image to make your phone as good as new.

Just a hunch, recovery file may be missing or corrupt.
Flash CWM again from bootloader and try to go in recovery.

Or can it be hardware problem already?

Not sure... that's why I said to install a recovery to see if the memory is damaged or no..
There is also a home-made method to remove moisture. Soak the phone in a bowl a rice. Tried and tested.

hi there,
I'm running CM11 nightly late feb. For no apparent reason my phone went into a boot loop this morning (n.b. I didn't flash a new rom or installed a new app). Now it constantly reboots (literally) and doesn't get further than the CM11 boot video or google logo.
If I press volume down and power, it will head into bootloader - but - I can't navigate beyond 'shut down' or 'restart bootloader'. It doesn't execute two consecutive volume up or down commands. In other words, it's impossible to get into recovery mode. Also, because my phone doesn't boot further than the video or logo, I can't make a fastboot or adb connection via my laptop.
Does anybody know how I can fix this issue? I'm clearly running out of luck. Many thx in advance!
reflash recovery?
Try to boot into recovery with cmd: fastboot boot TWRP.img (TWRP or your current custom recovery)
Then restore a nandroid backup or wipe data/system/dalvik
You can still flash the factory images. Fastboot mode is enough. Guide

Well the issue is that it only stays for a fraction of a second in bootloader, which gives it enough time to navigate one step up or down. Not enough time to get into recovery.
How can I do what Primoken said? It doesn't seem to be possible to do a flash when the phone is constantly rebooting?
Thx for helping me out guys, much appreciated!

It's not a power issue. Also unscrewed my phone to see if that was what caused it. Nothing in there, mechanism functioned correctly.
UPDATE: For some reason my phone booted up out of nothing. I managed to flash an older ROM via CM Updater (through settings)- which seemed to work. Apps were updated and it was running normally. But after a couple of minutes it restarted out of the blue and now back to square one again.
Guess there's a chance I'll probably get a normal start up soon. Is it a good idea to do a factory whipe restart through the settings menu? Or is Primokorn's method safer?
