[question] Windows Mobile 6.1 Update

hello guys
i currently have WM 6.0
and if i want to burn a rom into my phone that is WM 6.1
would i need to update my WM first?
if i do can someone send me the link where i can update it?
because i cant seem to find it.

Before everybody tackles you, let me answe this lol
If you have an official WM6.0, you'll need hardspl to install ANY custom ROM. Just install that and then choose the ROM of your likings (many chefs and ROMs out there).

so ur saying that even if the rom is for 6.1
i can still just put it on to my phone?

You are making a confusion: the ROM itself (as in Read Only Memory) is the Windows Operating System (among others).
If you have WM6.0, that means you are running a WM6.0 ROM.
If you want WM6.1 you will need to upgrade to WM6.1 ROM.
This is where you are making the confusion: to upgrade to WM6.1 = to "burn" (aka flash) a WM6.1 ROM.

hmm.. i think i understand wht ur saying. if i flash a WM 6.1 rom into my phone i would have WM 6.1. and if i have a WM. 6.1 rom and i want a 6.0 rom i simply need to just flash a 6.0 rom onto my phone. correct?
so there is no need for the extra step, of me having to update before i flash a 6.1 rom on to my phone.

essentially, flashing a rom is "Updating" in the sense i think you had in your first post in this thread. There is no need to update anything on your stock ROM because you are entirely replacing it.
It's similar to reformatting a XP computer that's Vista capable and putting Vista on it. (Not that I would recommend that anyone do that to their poor PC.)
However, before you flash, make SURE you have followed all the steps and guides to CID (Security) Unlock your phone and have HardSPL installed properly, otherwise your Kaiser will be a $450 paperweight. SIM (Subsidy) Unlocking is NOT the same as CID unlocking, so make sure you've done it right before trying it out.

SIMPLE
Update using an extended rom use pda mobiz step 2 update rom
Second do a hard spl
Third install a new rom
Forth instal the 2.19 radio Rom is the most stable one so far.

Help with installing Windows Mobile 6.5 on htc touch hd

I am having trouble installing Windows Mobile 6.5 on a HTC Touch HD. I have extrected all the files to a folder and then I have connected my Touch To the computer and have activated activesync. I have then opened up the PDA Phone Rom Update Utility and followed the instructions. The HTC Touch HD gets stuck on 0% and the PDA Phone Rom Update Utility displays an error 262-the update utility has encounterd Communication problems with the device. how can i resolve this problem?

Which Operating system are you using on your PC?
When on XP what ActiveSync version?
Did you hard-SPL the HD?

and, did you make sure your device is actually detected and installed on your PC properly?

Hey, I have encountered the same problem when I was trying to downgrade my HD from WM 6.5 to 6.1. You may try to upgrade your SPL to 1.56, then cook the ROM to your phone again. At least that how I cooked my HD first time.

Hey there,
Please do not try and flash an HD2 rom to your HD, or you will end up bricking your device.
If you want 6.5 on your HD, head over to the blackstone forum, Hardspl and choose the rom of your choice.
Make sure you understand the instructions for hardpsl and flashing (it isnt that difficult really).
If all goes wrong, put your phone into bootloader and flash back the official HD rom.

i have a htc touch hd mobile with 6.1 windows with spl 1.54.0000 .....i want to upgrade it to 6.5 windows but i am new in this so i want someone's help.... i have seen some stuff in your site but i have difficulties in the start....my htc does not even connect to the pc.... when i enter the bootloader mode it doesn't tell me usb on the bottom.... and anyway the drivers and the other stuff where should i extract them??? to my memory card??? plzz someone help.... in simple steps.... from the start plzz..... as you understand i am really new in this and i really want to do upgrade my mobile.... i would really appriciate your help....

Hey, if you want to flash wm6.5 then just download a stock rom from either Htc or from this site and away you go. lol

Go to the Wiki and start reading the Newbie flashing guide, everything you need is explained there.
Hard SPL is the precursor to flashing a custom ROM, it unlocks the device to accept a different OS.

very possible
but with custom roms, there are different flavours also for your taste.
so you have to unlock you phone first and install the rom you choose.
please check the ELF fourm . there in "Touch GSM ROM Development" you'll find various roms. be sure to read and follow the instruction carefully.
i hope your P3450 is 256MB one.. then you'll enjoy more.
