Hi,
attached is the new version of gmail.
with friendly greet
starbase64
i have rooted Desire with AuraxTsense rom ... g mail is "locked" to the rom so i can't uninstall it or update...
is possible to have a renamed .apk (just like for googl maps "brut modded") so i can install both and then use the updated one? or where i can found it? tnx
I have this on my Vibrant but it still doesn't have the priority inbox feature.
I managed to find the apk on one of the Samsung forums shortly after its announcement - using a MIUI build on my HD2, and it didn't like pasting the new Gmail over the old one in /system/app/, nor removing the old one and pasting the new one - it was still showing the previous version without the priority inbox and so forth. To fix this, I had to restore the original Gmail apk that I'd backed up, then clear data from the settings/applications menu, then paste the new apk, then install over it from the market.
Native Android users will need to be rooted to do this, if it wasn't obvious.

You should be able to remove the original with Titanium Backup, then you should be good to go.
You people do know that this is available from the Market, and will update the version in your phone's /system folder just fine.
Right?

Apparently they don't... I updated it yesterday here from the market, although I don't use the GMail app at all...
The update is not yet available to everyone. TBH I cannot see most of the Google apps in the market myself.
This is just an opportunity for those less fortunate to mess around with it.

I was trying to politly warn you. This is not a warez site and your thread will get closed if you include paid apps in your ROM. Do what you want but I would remove it if I were you.

Closed thread since it includes warez. If this thread is to be reopened, then a warez-free version must be PMed to me first. Thank you.

Push the file on your SD-Card, unzip it and then restore with CWM!
If you want to keep the old market you need first to backing up MARKET UPDATER and then delete! Use the app TITANIUM BACKUP for this!

Looks nice, but where did you put the Exchange-Sync?
Please tell me, you didn't remove it with the "and the remaining waste"
Also, your Calendarwidget shows an error on loading. I foolishly didn't note which one, and removed the widget by now, but on your screenshot it looks nice

No, don't know the name, although i had an app called E-Mail in my App-Drawer...
If you could put the Exchange-functionality back in, that would be very nice
I hate Sense, I like what you do.
Why do you choose the ADW launcher, LinkSD are not that GO Launcher, A2SDGUI?
I hope you would bring Google calendar back. Fix google search, make gtalk can video call.

did you mean the default email app with "exchange sync"?
You just need Mail.apk for exchange features. A 3rd party obscure app is not required.

Hmm, doesn't work.
If i install this through CWM, i don't have the Exchange-Entry in the Settings, but it gets copied to /system/app
If i want to start it manually from /system/app, i get something like "Cannot Install"("Anwendung nicht installiert").
Ideas?

Why your rom don't support A2SDGUI? (Can you make your rom support Link2SD and A2SDGUI?) Thanks.

Having salvaged the apk files from the Galaxy Nexus ROM and the necessary lib from the apks themselves, I thought I'd share this find of mine. Sure, there are ICS-like keyboards on Google Play, but this is the genuine deal for all of you, whose ICS ROM doesn't include the stock keyboard (TouchWiz based ROMs, for one).
How to install via adb:
adb remount
adb push LatinImeGoogle.apk /system/app
adb push LatinImeDictionaryPack.apk /system/app
adb shell mv /system/lib/libjni_latinime.so /system/lib/libjni_latinime.so.old
adb push libjni_latinime.so /system/lib

Thanks! Was looking everywhere for this. I didn't like the ones in playstore. One of them is actually really good, but doesn't have my other language (Arabic).
Stock ICS keyboard is my favorite keyboard on all smartphones. Switched from GNexus to SGS3 and was very disappointed by all keyboards I tried, until now that is.
Lots lots of thanks!
Nice! I hope this is better than the one I already bought, it was only $1 so its alright. We'll see. Thank you
Only ICS ?

Yes, I'm afraid. There are various ports for Gingerbread on Google Play, though.
tried to install on htc evo 4g running cm9 but when i go to messaging app and click on the symbol at bottom to type new message it says Unfortunately, Android Keyboard has stopped! What do i need to do or is this not compatible with the the og evo on cm9? Thanks
Have you guys ever tried the hackers keyboard? I use Swype, so the ICS keyboard as a daily wouldn't work, but I need something in the terminal. I used to switch to the AOSP keyboard, but when I find this one, I thought it to be more flexible in allowing additional characters, ctrl, alt, etc.
Just curious on what you thought...
I am not sure if I got it in the market, but I think so.

It's a hit-or-miss, really. I extracted the needed lib, but as for the other dependencies - I'm not that much of a dev to find out.
You have the Samsung keyboard files?

Thanks the keyboard work here really good (ICS ST15i)
Just curious: what have in this libjni_latinime.so? All android, I guess, already have this, and I keep my stock, just want to know if this is a kind of library with a lot of supported languages, better than I or we have already...
I cannot thank you enough for this!! The stock ICS keyboard is great and Motorola saw fit to replace it with their "large key" version of it on the recent Droid RAZR ICS update.
Would be great if this could be made into a non system APK so it could be installed as a regular app without root.
But thank you again!

By the way -- for anyone interested, on the Droid RAZR ICS (Release ROM) -- you don't need to replace the stock or push this "LatinImeDictionaryPack.apk" as it is already included. Seems the stock Motorola keyboard uses this APK.
Also, the library file is not on the phone so you don't have to worry about renaming the old one either.
Basically just put "LatinImeGoogle.apk" into /system/app and "libjni_latinime.so" into /system/lib and you are set.
Don't even need a reboot!

Buddy, not sure if root is needed but I installed this keyboard just installing the two apks as a regular installation, give a try maybe regular installation works for everyone. Download then execute the apk from folder, with some explorer, and installation begins. I keep the stock libjni_latinime.so also.
work on Galaxy SIII (android 4.0.4) and Galaxy SII (android 4.0.3) :good::good:
when trying to adb remount...getting operation not permitted...any ideas?
Thanks for the share, man! I installed via Root Explorer and it works like a charm! Just one question - is it possible to add other languages, Bulgarian especially?

+1 to that. I tried just continuing with the steps and it says that I pretty much can't access the /system folder with a production ROM...it's the stock, but rooted T999 ROM.
Hey,
I'm running a CM9 Rom and I've copied the files to the relevant locations and the stock keyboard is still not showing in the language and input settings area. I even tried a restart to see if it had worked and still nothing.
* I have also tried installing the apk like a normal package which makes it present in the settings area but whenever I try to use anything that needs it (Browser, SMS etc) it says "Unfortunately android keyboard has stopped." I tried clearing the data and still the same. *
Any idea what the issue could be or if this could be worked into a CWM install package?
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

Thanks a lot! I am tiring of ICS TouchWiz keyboard which is so terribly slow when predictive is on.
Is there any way to install it with root and rootexplorer?
Because i dont have adb on my pc...
Hope anyone can answer, would like to install this, Thanks
is is possible to port stock system phone and contacts apps from samsung models?
they have the swipe to call/message feature.
i know the "exDialer" app on playstore does the job too.
but im thinking if we can port it then we won't need an "extra app running" in the background all the time.
so what do you guys think?
Yes, but will not working properly.

Its possible. As long as you have root access on both the Sony and the Samsung you can transfer the apk (found in /system/app/) via bluetooth.

The app is designed for Samsung's customized version of android and samsung hardware so porting across to a SONY will bring some issues. I haven't tried it myself but ported apps never work as intended fully.

First of all you need root access on both phones. You also need to install a root file explorer onto both devices. I would also recommend backing up the Sony using flashtool to fix any issues that may arise.
On the Samsung, go to the root directory (/), next go to (system/) then go to (app/). Somewhere in that folder will be the contacts app in APK format. You will need to make a copy of that file and either Bluetooth it to the sony or transfer it via USB/WiFi Direct. Make a copy of the Contacts.apk file in the /system/app folder on the SONY and name it Contacts.Backup.apk. Now you are ready to install, you need to copy the APK you just transferred from the Samsung to that folder. If needed, rename the apk to Contacts.apk and reboot your phone.
If all goes well, you should have the Samsung Contacts app on your SONY. However, I do not own a Samsung nor have I tried transferring apps like these between phones. Do this at your own risk, I am NOT responsible for a bricked device.
There may also be some dependencies in that folder which are needed for operation. I would suggest transferring any app with the word contact(s) in the title.
If this helped then please leave a "thumbs"
-James
i know i need to transfer and install the relevant apks for the apps i want..but im saying do i need to modify the apk in someway so that they can be "installed" on other manufacturer's device? because once i tried to install htc stock apk on my sony, and it just said "application not installed"
HTC apps cannot be install in other device.
U need Sense framework and maybe there are other libs( maybe only in HTC firmware) needed to make the apps run on ur device.
U know, HTC suckss
Sent from my Xperia Miro using xda premium
okay. so in order to run other manufacturer's apps, even if you are able to port it, you need the particular framework and libs. thanks that answered me.
