NOOB Question: Although I have searched this forum for this information I have not yet found the answer to this question:
Can I install Launcher Pro directly onto a non-moded GTab in order to gain access to the homescreen like on most Android UI's. I am looking for the easiest way to get control of the homescreen, but I am not sure I want to try the mod's yet as I am new to this stuff.
Sorry if this is answered somewhere already, but I didn't see it.
Yes you can, I have it installed on mine. The only thing I did prior to installing Launcher Pro was rooting it.
Guess that will be my next search. How to root? Any suggestions?

I use LP with TnT 3.0. Like it bunches.
Is rooting necessary in order to use Launcher Pro?

I was looking at a stock G-Tab at Office Depot this week and noticed that the crappy "market" (not-Google's) that comes on the device has a section to download a few different launchers; I think Launcher Pro is one of them. I installed it while in the store and it worked fine.
Great thanks.

I am using virusrom airborn senseless. I also purchased launcher pro plus to use with it and downloaded a theme but when I go to the preferences menu and select a widget it doesn't give me the option to skin it. I do have launcher pro 8.4 and I can use a stock widget without it prompting me to "buy" the pro version now but still, no skinning options. I also dont have the people widget. I have searched all over to figure out what I am doing wrong but forgive me if this has an obvious fix because somehow I am missing something. I also just rooted my thunderbolt 2 days ago for the first time and this is all new to me but so far I have managed to not mess anything up even with trying new roms and kernels etc! LOL! So please speek idiot to me! Thanks!

Speak not speek. Lmao! See? I can't even type!

Send an email to the launcherpro plus dev through the market.

OK. Never done that either so I didn't consider it... Still hoping someone here will have an answer though!

Alright, email sent but I am not so sure its the app. I think its something I am doing.... When I can I will post this in the airborne thread where it belongs.

You have to be on 8.5 pro to use the LP Pro Widgets and skin them. You can download the unlock key in the market or order it on fede's site. Themes are available on the market and various places online. Some are free, some are not...

Oh! OK! That would make sense then! I'll try that!
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
Well, that's not the answer. I did download it from his site and I just downloaded the 8.5 version from his site and it won't install. It has to do withvthe fact that airborne has a custom launcher pro on it I think. So I think my question has changed to is there a way around this? I have even tried downloading another launcher and uninstalling launcher pro with an uninstaller to no avail.

Uugh 3 more posts and I can ask this in the right forum... OK no more post count boosting replies! LOL!
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
Did you buy the pro version? Because that's what you need to do to use skins.
Sorry, I'm going to spam my own thread twice. I'll add something that actually counts as a post though... LOL! I'm thinking I can't do it because of the themed version of launcher pro. I really want pink Widgets though... :-(
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
Yes. I did but it doesn't give me the option of upgrading to 8.5... There. I think that's 10 posts!

If you post this in developement it will get moved here. Developement threads are only for actual developement issues. This wouldn't be considered a developement issue.
I have used launcher pro plus and after eading your post again, you cannot skin things with it. When you apply a theme, the theme will change what it is meant to change(whatever the developer programmed it too) but you cant do any more than that. If you want to skin widgets and change their look/color. You will need a deoxed rom and/or a program that give you the ability to skin or create custom widgets and app icons.
As for the people widget, that is available with the pro plus version (why u cant access it is wierd) so you will have to ask the developer about that.
To anyone here, if Im wrong about any of this, please correct me..
Yeah, I figured that out so I didn't do it. Not trying to be a rule breaker, this is just bugging me. I think the only thing I can do is hope someone will create a more feminine theme for this rom or figure out how to do it myself!
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
You can ask the rom dev if it is possible to get a more femenine themed version.

Thanks for the explanation. I am going to give up I guess with this train of thought and maybe there will be more themes created. Its just that it seems there are mostly men on here and you all create MANLY themes! ;-D

Nope, didn't see it. What I REALLY want is a hot pink version of the blue airborne theme! I'd even be willing to pay for someone to do it for me if anyone can and wants to! LOL!

Try this, I'm not 100% sure I'm getting your whole picture but lets try something. download adw launcher. once that is installed tap your menu and choose the adw launcher. once that comes up and your using that. get and use titanium backup and remove the launcher pro launcher which should be part of your rom. once all traces of lpp is gone. reboot. NOW go to the market and download launcher pro and apply your key. you should now be able to modify lpp to your liking and install any theme you might like. To apply the themes to the widgets I believe you need to go to menu-preferences-LP widget settings-select EACH widget you want to theme and hit select skin and choose the one you want. Of course this is after installing them widget themes. Hope this helps you alone.
Hey all, I just rooted my inspire using Bubby's method and wanted to know if I could safely delete these apps. I did a search but didn't find a list of what you could and couldn't safely delete. I know you can flash a custom rom to remove the bloat but I just wanted root and to remove everything I know I wouldn't use. Feel free to add anything else I can remove that I didn't list. Thanks to everyone that responds.

It would be easier to flash an optimized stock ROM...

What would be some good ones if I decided to go that route? The ones I've seen mentioned a lot around here are Leedroid and Cleardroid. Which would be the best for battery life?

It is simple enough to find this out for yourself. Just make a backup of these apps with Titanium and then use Titanium to remove them (since some of these built-in apps might not uninstall the normal way). If you start to see problems then simply restore the needed app.
Yes, but maybe he does not have that kind of time to tinker with his phone...
You can also try Ingersoll, I found it to be the best optimized stock ROM with no bloatware.

you could also try cyanogen 7.3 or gingerbeast. those are very fast and contain little bloat

Alright thanks for that. This is my first android and just rooted it and now just want to get everything setup how I want it. If I flash a custom rom I want it to be near stock with good battery life and stick with that. I personally dont plan to flash diff roms every couple of days.

I appreciate that. Unfortunately I don't have the kind of time I would like to play with my new phone. Im the father of 7 month old twins and they take up a good amount of my free time.

Yeah... this was the "Rewrite" that was supposed to happen last November, but unfortunately, Fede is more concerned about this music app and has put both Launcherpro, Launcherpro Plus, and this "Rewrite" on the backburner.
Don't get your hopes up
Current Launcher pro works fine with me.
I like launcher pro but its inability to allow roms to use their custom transition effects and visual eye candy will put it on the uninstall list. I have plus version. Also it has to force close a couple of times after you reboot for it to start working.

I thought that was only happening with mine. But mine usually just FCs once.
Evidently Fede is more concerned with making money on a brand new piece of software rather than finish rewriting his software
Which is completely understandable by the way, but don't get your hopes up.

Oops, wrong thread, sry
I always wonder what happen to him rewriting it. It sucks that it had to go on the back burner

Launcher Pro
Is Amazing,a great launcher ( I also like the basic launcher and touch wiz 4.0 & 4.5)

To get it to stop force closing on start up you have to move all your apps to the internal memory card. There is some sort of conflict between launcher pro and the initial media scan.
I'm aware this is not ideal for everyone but it is the only solution that I know of.
One day to my surprise there was a new ui on my Netflix, so much better so I looked it up to find out they finally made it tablet friendly
A couple of days later I'm back to the old Netflix
I didn't change anything on my xoom since then
Does anyone have the new updated Netflix apk? I can't find it for the life of me

What's wrong with the one in the market? Works great on my xoom. Go to apps and do a search.

The point was it was from the market, no matter what I did, which version I installed I got old crappy look
A wipe and reinstall of my Tom fixed it tho

The one on the market displayed both UI's. It's an HTML5 app so they can change the way it looks without you updating the app. If you were tweaking your build.prop or pixel density it may have thrown the app off so that it displayed the old ui.
I am currently testing out my first ever custom ROM installation [Fresh & Slim 1.3+Native Tether hack NO Goodie Bag] *rooted a device for the first time 2 days ago as well* and I am running into some problems. iReader opens and selects a mobi file, but then crashes [Unfortinately, iReader has stopped.] Aldiko opens and select a book, but it never opens and there are no error messages. The Mobile Hotspot opens, configures, and activates, but both my Nexus 7 stock & my linux box is stuck acquiring an IP.
However, if I use Goodie Bag with Flesh & Slim 1.3, I am able to connect to the hotstop with my Nexus 7, but still no go on Aldiko& iReader. Should I just try another Rom? I haven’t found a solution to this issue through XDA forum. I thought iReader might require another stock app, but I couldn’t find any related information to that. Maybe it’s the same with Aldiko? I was able to open a mobi file with FBReader, but it’s limited to only some formats. All advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

That rom is pretty old. You might try a newer one. If you're looking for something slimmed down try this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46066949
Would this be a recurring issue? If I use that rom, would I have to wipe and install another rom in a few months time as well? Would applications start breaking or newer / other apps wouldn't install at all?
What?

iReader is experiencing the same crash & Dailer is crashing with SUPERLITE AOKP JB 4.3 V1.0.
And iReader is still crashing with CM10.1... What am I missing? Does iReader require another application? I am trying iReader with a fresh installation of all of those custom Roms.

No.

Lol, I know kindle works. ireader sounds like an iPhone app anyways. Android refuses to run iPhone sounding apps. Lmao

It is not a iPhone app. It is made by a Chinese company / person.
