[Q] Galaxy S media experience on Nexus S? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
Considering buying either the Galaxy or Nexus soon.
Is there anyway of getting the Galaxy S media bits and bobs, enabling DivX playback, and music player etc, ported to the Nexus S?
That'd be a real win for me!

This hasn't happened yet, give it more time. The phone just came out, so a lot of devs do not have it yet. Not only is this a new phone, but the OS is new two. Neither have been out a week yet.

Any changes?

if we can play all the medias codecs from hardware like the SGS
then i will have no need to upgrade to another phone

[Q] Nexus s vs Galaxy S+

Hello.
I'm about to buy a new smartphone (im running Galaxy Spica right now), and I dont know what to buy..
I have a choice to buy Nexus S or Galaxy S + and I dont know which one is better for me. I am a student of computer science, and certainly I will be able to write software for Android. But I would like to record 720p videos..
Also, I found that on Nexus ICS have many problems right now..
Is there any chance for ICS on Galaxy S+?
Or maybe I should buy something else? My phone should be fast, have big screen (cuz I need to read pdf on this) also games should works fine.
I have about 250 euros.
Thanks for help

[Q] [PLEASE HELP] iPod Alternative??!!??

Alright so I recently sold my iPod Touch 5g in search of a new media player that can also run on Wi-Fi and has a bigger screen. I also was tired of iOS so Android was my next option.
I bought the Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 which looked like a bargain at first but lags like hell and has terrible pixel density. The icons look disgusting...
Could someone recommend me a phone that could be used without a contract, as just a media player? The Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S, & Nexus 4 are some of my choices but I'd like more opinions. I want a sleek looking device. Which would you recommend?
A million thanks to anyone who helps me out.

Lag on MX Player

Hey all, on my Nexus 5 & 7 I get lag when watch non HD MKV files on MX Player in Hardware Acceleration mode. But on the Galaxy S4, there i no problem at all.
On the Nexus devices I have to use Software decoder, and I feel this uses more battery than hardware. Why is there massive lag on MX player?

I believe it's related to some drivers and codecs.
On my LG g2, if I use stock rom, I can play with hardware decider but when I switch to cm10.2 I have glitchy experience with hardware decider. I've to switch to switch to software decoders and all works well. Never faced any problem with battery on g2, but this phone socks battery like anything. I've got to be more careful.

Yeah man, I ran out pretty fast today on the N5. I hope it gets better otherwise I might have to return it.

I'm getting so spoiled by Note 3 and g2 battery. Battery on nexus 5 isn't is greatest point, but can't return a nexus for its battery.

Idk man, if it can't make me through a good full day use it's not very useful to me you know? Add that to the terrible speaker, and the fact that mine has 3 dead pixels (getting a replacement, so hopefully I will be happy with the new one) but overall idk man.
Its really fast though!

Mine has like 5 Dead pixels. Gonna have to look into the replacement process as well.

Diceplayer is a great alternative. Seems to support HW mode too. Might be worth a shot?

I tried Dice on my N7 and it had the same problem. I'll try again on the N5.
Make sure you install the latest custom codec. In MX Player go to Settings - Decoder scroll to the very bottom and tap Download Custom Codec. This should take you to ktsamy's thread on this site's Android Software Development forum where you can download V1.7.20 Arm v7-Neon codec. Follow the instructions to set this as the Custom Codec in MX Player. Hopefully this may help you, I was seeing stutter on playback of my recorded TV shows until I set this up on my N5.
