[Q] I've lost my "live wallpapers" menu option - Droid X Themes and Apps

Can someone please give some advice on how to re-install/reset the live wallpapers menu option? I'm on 2.3.340 and I recently just installed a gingerbread theme and the black & green themed gingerbread keyboard. I know that before that my selection was there! Anyone have any ideas what got erased? Thanks in advance

If you are rooted you can look in /system/app and see if you see a file called LiveWallpapers.apk as that is the livewallpers I am pretty sure. If you don't have that you can download any ROM and just extract one from it and install it and by doing the steps below....One of the latest ROMS based on the
.340 http://androidforums.com/droid-x-all-things-root/234360-rom-apex-1-3-1-droid-x-running-running-fast-can-12-16-10-a.html
Extract the ROM zip file on your desktop and then go to the system folder and choose the app folder and copy the livewallpaper.apk some place where you know where it is.
Copy the file to your SD-Card
Open “Root Explorer”
Set folder sytem/app to RW
Copy the new “livewallpaper.apk” into “system/app” from your sd card
Set the permissions on it by long pressing on it and choose permissions; set user access to read and write; set group and others to be READ
Set folder back to R/O
Reboot
Enjoy
Not sure why the Gingerbread Themed Keyboard would have removed it though as I have a themed version on mine from GregTard over at Team Black Hat (Who is also right here on XDA I see) and it installed with no issues at all so that part is wierd to me because it truly is an awesome looking keyboard and I have had no isues with it at all
Hope this helps you and I know that it works because I have done it many times when I want to add another ROMs livewallpaper to my current ROM or Theme...

I followed your steps and am back on track!
Thank you very much my man! I really appreciate the help.

Changing Fonts on X10 [Rooted]

Today i have found out that the android font changing app "Type Fresh" available on the market works with our X10 too.
I have attached the screens with changed font from my rooted X10.
Below are the simple steps
1.Root your X10 and install SuperUser.
2.Install TypeFresh from market and grant super user permission.
3.Install AndExplorer from market(Type Fresh needs this for browsing files)
4.Before proceeding further Back up existing fonts using Type Fresh and Save the files in /sdcrd/fonts.
5.Add your desired .ttf file to /sdcard/fonts and apply using Type Fresh
Reboot the phone and you are done with changing the font
Thanks to XperiaX10iuser for the screens
Open up TypeFresh, and tap DroidSans-Bold...
...open up your desired font folder, and select the font you wish to use, so you now need to select DroidSans-Bold and press "ok".
...once you have done that for both DroidSans-Bold & DroidSans, it should look like this...
...then press the menu button, tap "Apply Fonts", and you should see...
...reboot, and enjoy your new font...
Simples
Thanks Bro!!! Another great reason too root! Wingdings, here I come!
Nice one.
Can go wrong though, i changed the fonts two times.
First time no problem, second time however the phone refused to boot further then the SE logo. Had to reflash and reroot.
Phone gets stuck at boot screen if the ttf is not compatible.
Below is the reply from the dev on the same context.
"As the README states, Android itself does not support all TTF fonts, so you probably have one that it doesn't like. Your only option is to just try a different one. I'm going to have a font viewer out VERY soon to make the selection easier."
Heres a link for the sony ericsson font
http://www.4shared.com/get/NGapMTNy...sionid=51B93ACEBB71EA17438490A08CA5DF9D.dc211
Is there any way to use the fonts from the Handcent Font packs?? Just a thought as these would all obviously be compatible with our phones.
Been doing some more reading on the topic or using fonts from downloaded apk's and it seems tricky. More specifically....out of my league.
I also can't seem to get my downloaded fonts to install. I have TypeFresh and AndExplorer and superuser has permissions. When I open typefresh it just shows a list of fonts there (that were already there I assume) and the only option I have is to backup? I can't find my other fonts. Anyone have any ideas?
Maybe there is a way to apply them using better terminal? Im still learning how to use it so If anyone knows how I could apply my downloaded fonts with it, it would be sincerely appreciated.
thanks again
Could we get a list together on the first post of the fonts that do work with the X10 and download paths for the ttfs?
The font in the first post is desyrel.ttf
I have tried 3 fonts and all of them worked well, the fonts are desyrel.ttf,chinacat.ttf and lacartooniere.ttf
brunswick000- If you have installed all the 3 apps (type Fresh,Andexplorer and superuser) , then you should be able to apply the downloaded fonts.
-In TypeFresh Just click on "Droid_Sans.ttf" from the list of font u are seeing and just browser to your ttf file in the opened browser.
Once done, just open the menu and select "Apply Font".
@jassired, thanks for the help. I got the new font working. Downloaded the Droid Logo font. Its pretty sweet looking. Now I just want to change my framework res pak to get rid of the SE blue every where. Learning so much already since we got root. I have to say I love android
The easiest way to change fonts is with the above files.
Tried and worked well.Have fun
Can i just use any (.ttf) font files i find?

Very interesting post.
The better way to avoid many flash of the phone to anyone, it's to make a list of the good TTF files.
Hey guys I just wanted to aks if you know where I can find the font from the Demo video included in any X10. I simply can't understand why Sony didn't let the phone with this font. it looks cooler and it's more interesting.
So can you help?
How do you know if a font is compatible?

awesome thx somehow it only works with ROOT explorer!!! Thanks a million !!

Humble 5.0... Restoring aosp lockscreen

I apologize in advance if this has been answered elsewhere, I searched and couldn't find the solution.
I have humble 5.0 running and added the red and black theme to it. This caused me to lose the aosp lockscreen. Is there anything I can do short of reflashing humble to get the lockscreen back? I know there are apps like Golocker and magic locker, but I've experienced performance issues With these and would like to avoid them. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
U could extract the android.policy.jar from humble5zip and overwrite the one that's on ur phone now with root explorer. its in system /framework
here ya go .just copy the old one to ur SD card just in case .of course if u get undesired results just reflash that theme
Edit....I pulled this from humble 5 rc2
I'm positive this works cuz i did it yesterday on the test rom Danalo1979 tweeted
Thanks for The help guys. How do I go about replacing the file? Just use root explorer?

Yea just copy and paste it in system/framework and overwrite the old one and reboot
I replaced the file with the one I downloaded from the thread and did a reboot. Nothing changed. Any other ideas?
And ur sure it replaced the other one,you hit mount system r/w in top right corner of root explorer? Let me check ...I guess i could have uploaded the backup of the stock one I made when i did this
Give me a minute. I'll upload the one that I'm using now. That one I extracted from the humble zip
alright I know this is it ..just pulled from system/framework
It says mounted as r/o... How would I Change that?
There should be a white button right beside that to the right. Just press it and it should change to r/w.
When u do it, it will ask u if u want to replace the file cuz it already exists. Hit yes
OK I got it!
Few things I had to realize... Root explorer and explorer aren't the same apps, even though the Icons are nearly identical. I got lockscreen back as desired. Just a side note, I lost the extended power menu that came with black and red theme. No big deal to me, just a side effect of replacing the File. Again.... Thanks for all of the Help.
Glad I could help. Yea i forgot it'd change the power menu but I don't use it anyway. I use quickboot from the market. Has reboot, recovery and bootloader. Plus version has hotboot option.
Yep. Quickboot installed here also.
The awesome coredroid theme will give you both options (lock screen + power menu options). It also gives you crt off animation.

Changing System Fonts (easy way)

I've seen posts on this topic, but nothing in one place.
This will help you to just switch out the basic overall system fonts (without any apps, aside from root explorer)...
0. (optional) using root explorer, navigate to /system/fonts and copy the current Clockopia.ttf, DroidSans-Bold.ttf, and DroidSans.ttf files to your sd card for safe-keeping (note that if you are on any custom roms, these are most likely not the actual font names - if you're curious, copy it to your computer and preview the .ttf file or just hold your cursor over the font and it should tell you the actual font name)
1. get the .ttf files that you want (maybe from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1194202 <-- these are font packs with a lot more stuff in there than you need - just unzip and grab the three .ttf files only) you really only need to grab the unique files - usually clockopia and droidsans are the exact same file with different names, and sometimes all three are the same when there is no actual bold type of a specific font)
2. put the .ttf files on your sd card (i have a folder with different fonts on my sd, i named the .ttf files the actual font name to keep everything straight, and copy and rename when i want to switch fonts)
3. using root explorer, copy the 3 .ttf files (or only the unique files and make additional copies as needed) to your /system folder - make sure to mount r/w first (we need to make a layover here so we can change the permissions)
4. rename the files (you could do the renaming at any stage really, just sometime before you put them in the /system/fonts folder) - change the regular font types to Clockopia and DroidSans, and the bold font type to DroidSans-Bold (that's what your system is looking for when calling fonts)
5. change permissions of the 3 files to chmod 644 (see attached pic)
6. multi-select the 3 files and MOVE (do not copy) to the /system/fonts folder. it will ask you if you want to overwrite, check the box to do it for all files, and hit ok.
7. exit. reboot. done. cheers!
Disclaimer - I am not responsible for what you do to your phone. It is advised to install the CWM on Boot mod (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1554579) before messing with any of the system files.

No prob. I learned quick after taking a misstep trying to copy them to the fonts folder w/ no cwm on boot - fc's, followed by a boot loop, followed by rsd lite... you know where this goes... anyway, i thought i'd share..
...Still not sure what all the other fonts in there do.. heck, i got no idea what the clockopia font is even for. I've changed it to different fonts separately, and notice no difference anywhere... you probably don't need to even change it. Someone else please feel free to post if you can add to the topic
Sent from my mind using XDA
Guys, I just did what I didn't suppose to and ended up in bootloop during font change! I know, am a stupid noob...
But, can't get the phone to CWM either. What should I do?
Running Victory rom if that helps. Thank you very much for the responses.
EDIT: nevermind, now I know what to do. Sorry for trolling, moderators can now delete my stupid post...
Don't beat yourself up my brother.... We've all been there.
Some, like me, more than others. That's the way I learned.
ATRIX 2 / Victory Rom
Yup - been there. And, learned from it..
Try and keep that CWM on Boot installed if you're messing around, and a backup on your sd card to restore if you start looping..
Thanks for your support guys, you're awesome
The thing is that i did have CWM on boot installed, and I did make all important backups. I just couldn't get anywhere but in regular fastboot mode only...
Anyway, RSDLite will do the thing I hope...
Thanks again boys, cheers from OZ

Wow.. I forgot about this thread!
Anyway, you would need you to find the fonts from cm7 and move those as described above.
I am not familiar with CM roms, but I assume the fonts are in the same /system/fonts folder - grab them from a CM7 rom and follow the steps..
Note: there are also apps that change system fonts (like Font Changer) - but I prefer to do things manually..

Thanks! That is a good read... and, so it looks like you could possibly still use the method in my OP, but you need to replace the four Roboto font files instead of the DroidSans ones.. I'll give it a try sometime when I get back on ICS and update the OP accordingly.

[MOD] Theme Store- How to keep your stock icons on any theme

*Dont you hate when you like a theme but hate the icons!!! I will give you a simple guide to download the theme you want and keep your stock icons
~Keep your stock icons for any theme~
*ROOTED REQUIRED*
*Please read complete guide*
*Make sure you are not using the theme you are applying this to! Apply a different theme while your editing this file!
1. Using a file explorer, go to data/overlays/jsonfiles/userjson and find the theme you want to keep stock icons!
2. Open file and hit the edit button! Look for this line a little ways down:
"appicon":"com.cambunch.ThemeName.appicon",
and delete it! Save file and reboot!
3. Now you can go to theme store and apply that theme and have stock icons
***Also see post #10 for another simple guide thanks to @SICKMADE***
***This should work for any theme in userjson file, just follow same steps and remember to save and reboot before you apply theme!!!
***JUST HIT THANKS IF YOU THINK THIS IS FRICKIN AWESOME***
Screen shots of files and before and after:
Note 5 have to be root or not to work ??
Yes, because you will have to use a root file explorer! ES FILE Explorer etc.
Good work[emoji106] [emoji106]

Which one? Part 1 or 2?
If icons didnt stay stock, go back to the file you deleted the line and make sure it saved with that line deleted! It did that for me and when i went back and checked file, the line was still there and i re- deleted it, made sure i saved file and rebooted and it worked!

Hmmm, it works for me! Deleted that appicon line, saved then rebooted, applied theme and i have stock icons! Ive tried it on a few themes and all have worked!
Make sure that you do not have that theme currently applied! Apply another theme then go back and apply theme that you did that for!
All you have to do if you don't like any paticular part of a sammy theme is install a root file manager... I use root browser but what ever you choose as long as it uses root is fine... then once opened file manager navigate to the data/app folder. Here you will find every apk and or sammy theme that you have installed onto your device. Simply scroll down until you find the specific group of folders for which ever theme your wanting to remove a paticular part of ex. Accuweather, App Icons, etc. Once you've located the file you don't want to use with the theme anymore like the icons "themename.appicon-1" simply delete the folder and reboot and badaboom stock icons are back! I hope that made some sense lol
This is the best Thread ever !!! I always wanted this, thanks alot !!! Very Helpful

Yes you can.. I have just tried using a keyboard theme I like on different theme by just copy pasting corresponding lines from one to another.
This also allows you to change your icons to anything you want using the galaxy icon themer app in play store
