New Sprint APKs 12/13/2010 OTA - EVO 4G Android Development

I just got the new OTA update, and I figured I would post some of the contained updated .APKs for public consumption. I will pull more and update later.
UPDATE
Kindle works fine, I got blockbuster to work, but It will take tweaking. I will post later.
Update
I removed all files. I don't know what is okay to post and what isn't. I have a flashable zip for Swype that works on ALL Evo roms 2.2+ and a flashable for blockbuster for sense based roms, and Sprint applications in apk form. The blockbuster app is integrated into sense framework, so this can't be modified as it is out of my range of know-how.

This is useless since most of this stuff requires other things besides the apk to work.

Thanks for the generosity, but it would probably be a good idea to remove the Swype apk. Swype is considered illegal to distribute on xda. Thanks for the other two. I haven't seen them posted yet.

You should have posted this in the Themes/App forum first off.
And you might want to remove Swype from your list, it is still against the policies of the forums. Check the front page of XDA but I will quote for you.
What this means, in essence, is that the EVO joins the list of devices that are approved to have Swype included in roms. Still, our stance on Swype is the same as before. Distribution of Swype by any other means than roms for OEM licensed devices is prohibited on xda-developers.
So, find your favorite rom and see if has been blessed with this keyboard already

This was included in the Licensed OEM rom. I don't see the issue. This isn't a boot-leg beta or anything like that.

IF you read what I highlighted from the XDA front page you would see that they said it can only be included in ROMS!!!!!

Oops, hehe thanks

I don't think there's a scanning widget. I think Sprint was referring to the notification icon that appears when the Radio is ON but WiMAX is disconnected. You can't just clear it from the notifications area, so it's kind of a widget if you think about it.

Does blockbuster work on e.g. CM6? I thought it had some DRM or library requirement to protect the video stream or something, i could be off base thou

+yes been looking for this also

The blockbuster app needs some other files to install properly. The kindle app will install but it is an older version than the one available in the market. Does anybody know what else needs to be pulled to get the blockbuster app working?

Okay, so first of all, people don't need to be dicks. Please, and thank you. ALSO, the scanning widget is with Sense, so it will only work on Sense Framework. Yes, the blockbuster app needs libraries, but it does work. Just takes effort.

I saw that in the Eris dump when i was playing with it. The way i figure, if it's some call home tattletale app built into test software, it calls back to verizon and I have unlimited data - at that point I chuckled and stopped caring.

it comes from the Eris dump. If it's some tracking software put in there to keep people from sharing it, it will call back to Verizon. It wont cost me anything, since data is free.
then i realized i was getting freaked out over phone software, so I just laughed at myself and installed anyway.
It very well could be something that whoever leaked it out put in. I don't have anything I care about on my phone. I'm not suggesting it's safe, just that I thought I was silly.

hmmm. under further inspection i believe it takes screenshots as it contains the same exact instructions as shootme in the apk. very strange. kinda scary. i remember someone on said on the forum where the eris was leaked tht the guy who posted it will be able to see everything you do and he and the guy who started the post has only 1 post on xda to this day
but no big worrys lol it also contains png's with htc's logo.

im not sure. in the resources theres nothing to specify that. its like it takes a screenshot when you do something to trigger it and bam it sends? lol creeeepy
I've tried examining the apk myself, where are you seeing instructions that relate to ShootMe? Is it not also possible it is similar because you are looking at aspects of the APK that would be shared across most APKs in general?
Not saying this isn't something malicious, just curious what we have to suggest that it truly is.
I'm hoping its a case of "Paranoia will destroy ya", but I supposed it is possible we are all running some kind of screen-grabbing trojan. In the meantime, either follow gbhil and remove them, or hope its something legit we just don't understand.

Hmm, weird. I can download it off the market on my N1 just fine.
Lemme know if that link the other gentleman provided doesn't work, ill try to up it to my DropBox.
google is aware of the problem. its only the att versions that are having issues seeing all of the apps in the market
Isn't ATT 'controlling' certain things about the market? Maybe that's why it's not showing on your ATT N1?
i think they may be because i read somewhere that if i put a t mobile sim in the phone i wouldnt have a problem. hell i dunno.
I don't have these issues with my N1 on ATT. *shrug*
having the same problem with ATT N1 missing Market apps. Attached is a newer version of Where app, 1.88, i think. 1.90 is newest, but can't grab. would appreciate if someone could UL the latest.
I emailed with Tech Support at Where. They said there was a contract issue with AT&T. Appears that if you want where, you have to pay AT&T each month and have one of the approved where handsets.
Could someone that has access to a newer version of Where 1.9 post either a download link or attach the file here in the forum.
We ATT folks would much appreciate it.
Thank you

Where is the only app I've seen that gives a decent listing of gas prices nearby, anyone have any better suggestions?
I'd be happy to take back the 5-6M of storage it takes up..... Yikes.
Zipcar
It is also the only zipcar app for android.
If you use AppBrain and the new fast web install they have, you can install it from the AppBrain website. It still won't show up in the market for updates, but you can probably get it updated the same way.

Has anyone figured out why ShootMe works without root?

I thought this was very strange. None of the other root-required apps that I have tried worked. Any idea why ShootMe does?
ive never used shootme and dont get my EVO until the 4th. how does shootme interact with the phone? how does it check for root access? how does it take a screenshot?
although i read, and dont know how accurate it is, the stock EVO which was given out contains su and sudo but we can't access them. maybe shootme can? im only speculating based on what i've read - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6619614&postcount=42

I guess the phone isn't as locked down as we are used to. I am coming over from Verizon where the screen won't turn on unless you pay extra.

Something in HTC's build did not protect the framebuffer from being read by non-root applications. It's a major security vulnerability, and it was most probably unintentional. If ShootMe can take a screenshot, any application can take a screenshot (and, say, send the developer pictures of your e-mail).

If this is part of a bigger issue that leads to a vulnerability, maybe, but the framebuffer being readable alone isn't enough to root.

Shootme works because Framebuffer has different permissions set on it now. Before the permissions were set so that you needed root to do what shootme does.

No it does not. I am running OMFGB 1.30 7/25 though

Oh and yes there is a Verizon tab. From the main page choose apps. then scroll to the bottom and under editors choice you will see a Verizon rectangle.
I am digging the look of the new market. However it seems to not remember my apps. I use a few ROMS that have it cooked in and my apps never auto restore.

Well since you're rooted you may not get it pushed to your device. My Nexus One still has the REALLY old market on it because it's rooted and running some custom ROM(cannot remember which one right now). Some custom ROMs will allow for market update pushes, but some won't, especially ROMs that have themed markets....a pushed market update would screw that up, so devs usually prefer to update the market in their ROMs themselves thru a ROM update.
I hear you on the bugs. I installed the new market apk and finally uninstalled it because of the numerous issues it has. I'm stock on the TBolt and still have not got the new market either....so I'm definitely not cool enough for it.

Google Voice Honeycomb Support

No, this isn't the same as every other thread asking about Google Voice support for Honeycomb tablets. This is more of an update on the matter. Today, Google Voice was updated and I side-loaded the Market version onto my tablet. I haven't updated the version on my tablet in a while, so maybe this isn't anything too too new. Instead of being the normal Phone UI, but bigger, now, it seems that Google has implemented a Honeycomb specific UI. I've attached a couple of screenshots of what the new Market Version of Google Voice looks like on my Transformer.
It's starting to look pretty sexy.
This next part, take with a grain of salt. Earlier, while I was updating Google Voice from the Market on my phone, I swear the "What's New" section mentioned a bunch of new features that aren't listed there now when I go back. Specifically, the features that were listed and are now removed were related to MMS, and were marked as "NEW". I'm assuming that these features will be added soon in an upcoming release.
I've noticed this as well. Have not seen anything with mms yet but that would be nice.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda premium
Yea, I actually tried MMS'ing myself just to see if maybe it was released, but they didn't want to publicize it yet, and it didn't come through. So, I'm just hoping it'll come soon in an upcoming release. That, or I was imagining the whole thing.
They also seem to have finally enabled retrieving texts / voice mails via background data as well, so there should be a lot less of a lag between the time a text / voice mail comes in and the time you know about it on your tablet. And, there's a new Honeycomb-specific Google Voice widget
can you upload the apk for your GV on HC so I can load it to my XOOM?
The widget is nice too. It's just like the Gmail widget.

For all of you saying the download isn't working, all you have to do is install it on your android phone, pull it, and push it to your tablet and install it there. There hasn't been any "tinkering" or "hacking" done to this apk, it's simply the Google Voice Market Version. It's the same apk for phones as it is for tablets
If you're having trouble, and you already had Google Voice installed, try uninstalling your previous version. I was using one of the old "hacked" versions and needed to uninstall it before it let me install the newer Market Version
