thanks for the reply! i'll check it out.
btw: resco is a paid app - if there is any, i prefer a free one

1. Network shares paths are stored under [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Comm\Redir\Connections\], where each key defines one shared folder, for example lets say you want to map \\Data\Data as folder Q on your device, the registry key would look like this:
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Comm\Redir\Connections\Q]
"Type"=dword:00000001
"RemoteName"="\\Data\Data"
you can prepare as many reg entries as you need this way and import it to registry
2. If you want to see the Network folder in 'My Device' in file explorer,
set the following registry entry to 1:
Code:
[HKLM\Comm\Redir]
RegisterFSRoot=1
more info here
3. probably (have no way to check it now), you can also access non-mapped network paths directly from File Explorer - check "Go To\ Open Path\New Path..."

I Can't View Extended_ROM

Hi,
I am new around here , sorry if this seems a very basic question, and yes I have tried the search function.
I am having difficulty viewing the extended rom on my Magician (originally a MDA Compact, but flashed with I-Mate Jam Rom). If I perform a hard reset, and then a soft reset before the customisation process starts, Extended_ROM is visible using File Explorer. However, if I do not perform the soft reset and let the customisation go ahead, Extended_ROM is not visible (I beleive this is normal behaviour).
My problem is that when using Total Commander and typing in "Extended_ROM" in the path field I still cannot see it. This works on my Universal (O2 Exec) with no problems even though Extended_ROM is invisible in File Explorer.
What am I doing wrong? Am I typing the wrong path name or do I need some other "tool" to view the Extended_ROM?
Thanks,
P.
You're at 50% with your question. The customization removes the loadvdisk.lnk from startup folder. Regular file explorer cannot see the loadvdisk.exe in windows, but resco file explorer can with the option to view hidden files too.
Or connect to your PC with Act.Sync & browse the magician with explorer, make sure hidden fikes can be seen. Now you can create a shortcut in startup folder and execute it from your magician.
Or do the hard-&softreset trick again & make a copy of the loadvdisk.lnk in storage or on sd.
Choice is up to you, they'll all make the ext-rom visible.
Personally I'll go for resco file explorer. Gives you a registry editor & ftp client as well. Very handy tool.
Cheers, M
Thanks,
I will try out Resco Explorer and see what happens.
Cheers,
Paul
Don't forget to select 'show all files' on the browser tab in the files -> options menu.

wm programs or folder from softkey

Hello guys,
I've been searching a lot, yet could not find the answer.
I would like to be able to open either programs (meaning path start/programs) or just a specific folder from softkey or hardware key.
Is there any way to open the specified folder. Do I need to create a shortcut to this folder? I have tried something like /fexplore.exe /My Documents (which works) but I would need to be able to open them not in list view yet as the programs do apear.
Is there any specific command to at least run the programs, where I would just click the specific folder?
Thank you in advance,
tampiss
I guess a workaround would be a similar apporach to your, /fexplore.exe /My Documents (which works).
Find a file manger that will display in icon view, rather than list, or details... then make a shortcut using that.
Any ideas?
Resco Explorer look promising,
http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/explorer/indepth.asp
Total Commander CE does an Icon View.
Now... does it respond to command line switches, so I can get it to start in a specified folder?

Opening *.txt files

Hi to all. First of all, I've tried to search but I got to ask since I can't find this topic anywhere.
Ok. Does anybody know how I can open a file with the extension *.txt with my preferred program? When I click directly on the filename, the text is opened in Word Mobile. I would like to just click the filename and don't open my application before I can edit my file. I'm using another application that I prefer for editing my txt files. All suggestions are welcome
use total commander to associate file extensions with programs if your pref
or do it manually using a reg-editor
Thanks for the reply. But if I associate from TC, it still open with MW when I start any txt file from todayscreen, (from within PocketPlus). I suppose that using the TC only work when you open from TC? So I'll try to use a reg.edit. and see what happens. Thanks again.
you can use Schap's Advanced Configuation and change file associations..
I've tried Adv Conf 3.3, but still the Mobile Word opens my txt files
what do you use to open them? you might have specific file associations in your file browser.
what about resco explorer? it works to fix this problem in my device
I prefer the NeboPad, and the registry sais that my txt files should be opened with NeboPad. It seems that MS override this, during the copyright
this is impossible. assiciations are set via OS.. if you set a specific association in Adv Config.. it'll work for the OS unless you're using a file manager that opens using its own preferences. try another file explorer like Resco
I'm running it from Spb Pocket Plus and not from any file explorer. In the Advanced Configuration 3.3 it's stated that file with the extension of *.txt, should be opened with \Program Files\NeboPad\NeboPad.exe. But still it's opened with Mobile Word. I think I'll have to go back to Notes with the *.pwi extension. Anyway, thank's for trying.
Regards
if you use notes and it works thru Spb Pocket Plus it means that this NeboPad is the problem, not your association.

Well. I've tried a lot of editors and pad programs by this time, but every time I try to open a TXT file, it comes up in PWORD. This must be something in the OS itself I belive. Or has anyone managed it to work?
At last!
Finally I've found a program that's works. It's MobilePad (nice too).

How can I export my Shazam tagged songs list?

Before formatting my TD2 I made a full backup.
Now I want to transfer my Shazam tagged songs list back.
Simple copy paste from the backup is not working.
Where Shazam is keeping the list of tagged songs?
How do I export that list?
__________
Update: found it!
Can someone please open this attached shazam.db (from shazam for wm 6.5 ) and return the song list , date and time in some other format? xls, cvs etc.
Thanks!
Update:
Shazam.db file in aplication data\shazam\folder is where all tags are stored.
Did you have any luck with this? I was hoping to do the same thing, but I hit a wall when I realized that I don't know how to access files on my Droid's internal storage. Would you mind pointing me in the right direction?
Found nothing so far.
Anyone?
Incorrect....
Either the htc hero has a different file structure or this information is inaccurate....
There is no such file path.
I whipped a quick app (attached below) that can back up the shazam database file to your SDCard (in folder "shazambackup") and restores it need be.
Also you can export the Tagged songs to xml (saved as "exports.xml" in the "shazambackup" folder).
Next i'll probably parse the xml to a more readable format. Maybe CSV? or just Plain Text? Any ideas are welcome!
Let me know if you have any issues. So far i've only tested it on my G1. Must also have a rooted phone for any of this to work.

bump.
Anyone can help?
See first post.
You're dealing with mostly Android here, you may want to ask in a WM or phone specific forum.

Does not work properly on Desire. Opens the app after installation but "backup" button does not create the backup file and "Export to XML" makes the app force close without exporting anything.
About the export feature - the CSV version would probably be the best.
Thanks!

Thanks!
Bumb!
BUMP!!!!!!
CSV would be great
The app's export to xml feature also fails on HTC Evo 4G (GingerBread).
Solution with SQLite
Hi everybody,
I found a solution to export the list via SQLite. I had to find it for myself as I found nothing on the web, but I put it here, so perhaps somebody else is looking for such a solution as well.
This explanation is about how to get Shazam's data base file from your Android phone, access it on your computer and export a list of your tagged songs.
1. COPY FILE FROM PHONE
The data is stored in the file on your Android:
/data/data/com.shazam.android/databases/library.db
You have to copy this file to your Computer to work with it. Probably everybody does this in a different way. Mine was probably a bit more difficult than necessary, there should be simpler ways (e.g. with ssh / scp), but mine was: Opening the Android app "Terminal" and typing in the command:
Code:
cp /data/data/com.shazam.android/databases/library.db /sdcard
Then the file was copyed on the sdcard, which I could access to with my computer via USB cable.
Then you need a program which can open SQLite-Files. There is the command line tool (at least in Linux) "sqlite3", but also graphical tools for Linux/Windows/Mac like the "sqlitebrowser" (Link: sourceforge.net/projects/sqlitebrowser).
2. OUTPUT FROM DATA BASE:
In every of these tools, you can execute SQL-commands. For my output I chose:
Code:
SELECT a.name , t.title, t.subtitle, t.album, t.subgenre_name, tg.short_datetime, tg.location_name , tg.lat, tg.lon
FROM artist a, artist_track at, track t, tag tg
WHERE a.id = at.artist_id AND at.track_id = t._id AND tg.track_id = t._id ORDER BY tg.timestamp;
This command displays a list of the songs, ordered by their timestamp.
So with the command line tool "sqlite3" you just type in:
sqlite3 -line /tmp/library.db "SELECT a.name , t.title, t.subtitle, t.album, t.subgenre_name, tg.short_datetime, tg.location_name , tg.lat, tg.lon FROM artist a, artist_track at, track t, tag tg WHERE a.id = at.artist_id AND at.track_id = t._id AND tg.track_id = t._id ORDER BY tg.timestamp;"
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
The output is in lines, you could also let put this in a text file by e.g. adding to this command:
"[see above] > shazam-tracks.txt"
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
There is also a way to export the data into an html table (just the table, no complete html file), by changing "-line" for "-html". For further details on how to export everything to a different file format (CVS etc) have a look on the Manpage of sqlite3 (command "man sqlite3").
With the graphical tool "sqlitebrowser" it is imho only possible to show this list, not to export it to a textfile. After having opened the .db-file with the program, you chose the tab "Execute SQL" and put there the above SQL command ("SELECT [...]"). Voilà!
3. DETAILS:
What I do like this is combining the necessary data of the database. They are spread over several tables. There is a table "artist" with the list of the artists and their unique ids. Then there is the same for the tracks, "track". In the "artist_track" table there is listed, which artist's id belongs tho which track's id. Finally in the table "tag" there are additional data like the time stamp of the song and even it's geo data tag.
With the SQLite program you can easily watch all the data and add / remove data from the SQL command, as you wish.
So far, I hope, I could help somebody?

Thanks!!! It helped me since Shazam no longer gets past the setup screen!
I found that with SQliteExport you can use your same command above and export to a file of your choice, for example, xls or csv. Here's the link to the little program:

Best solution for exporting from shazam database
Delete this one please
Hello I am new on the forum. I've learned a lot of things in this website, it's time to payback
I’ve got another solution to this issue….
1.-Download this plugin for Firefox.
addons.mozilla.org/es/firefox/addon/sqlite-manager
2.- In Firefox – Tools, select SQLite Manager
3.- In the new window select database – connect database – then open your db from shazam
4.- Then you’ll see two panels. on left panel select track and on right panel, select browse and search then you’ll be able to see all your tag info
5.- On the left panel select track – right click – export table, select csv on right panel then ok.
6.- Open your new saved database with any office (word, excel)
7.- That’s all

This above works well nice one.
I was trying to do my own program before I saw this.I'm not a programmer but I stuck together a few bits of code I found and hopefully works you you. Use android app Root Browser Lite to copy file from data/data/com.shazam.android/databases/library.db to your sd card. Or use the app posted earlier which does this for you.
Put library.db file from you Shazam backup in the same folder as this program and run program and hit 'GetTags' and should get CSV and htm versions of your tags. No error checking or anything fancy in this program. Requires .NET 3.5. May only work on 32-bit machines. I'd like to enhance this and will if people find it useful.
How results should look.

[Q] Changing the .exe - file/path behind a shortcut icon in WM6.1

Hello.
Since being a noob (one of those the video warned you about...) I must post this on general section...
I have the following problem: I would need to change WM6.1Pro registry settings somehow, that an icon (shotcut) in programs list would launch mybestsoftware.exe in location B instead of original location A
The reason is that the software is installed using different cab-files into different locations over the years and I would like to update every device to launch the application from the same directory. My update possibilities are weak, so I can only transfer my .exe - file remotely into a specified directory, but the those idio... I mean customers will launch the application from the same shotcut icon as before and therefore thay are using the old revision instead of the new and shiny latest release.
What I have done so far is dumped a registry after factory reset, installed our software using the cab-file and dumped the registry again. I found following entries:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\AppInstall]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\AppInstall\Companyname Appname]
"InstallDir"="\\Program Files\\Companyname\\Appname"
"Role"=dword:00000018
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Apps\Companyname Appname]
"Instl"=dword:00000001
"InstallDir"="\\Program Files\\Companyname\\Appname"
"InstlDir"="\\Program Files\\Companyname\\Appname"
But even I changed those paths into registry (\\Program Files\\Companyname\\Appname -> \\Appname, the icon still lauched the original exe
So what a humble support engineer needs to change in WM6.1 registry to tell the shortcut icon to launch the application fron a new location?
Its been a while since I last used WM, but you can create a new shortcut in the start menu using a file explorer, browsing to the exe copying it and then browsing to the start menu folder and pasting a shortcut if thats what your trying to do. I used to always use GSFinder as my file explorer.
