MarketAcces and ATT market code - Captivate General

There is an app MarketAccess that allows you to change your phones market id (its a 6 digit number) which allows you to access the different versions of android Market. att may limit what you can see in the market...
the verizon id is 310410
t-mobile id is 310260
what is the att number? its set in the phone as default (so all you need is the app to look at it) but i dont have it. or if anyone knows what it is that would be great.
thanks

Since I tend to log whatever I do.
The AT&T code is 310410

Did you happen too see this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13381450#post13381450
Just call tmo. Your code might be wrong one.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App
I'm not a t-mo customer, and I don't live in the US..
Try to order another code from a reputable seller and check to see if they are the same. If it is the same, you must have either read the IMEI wrong or enter it incorrectly. If it is not the same, you can take your last chance try to unlock it...

I bought mine on eBay from this seller and it worked fine
http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=260776518349
It was $10 back in may when I bought mine and it looks like it's only $3.20 now. Like I said mine worked fine. Your mileage may vary.
Get back to the person you bought the code from and have them double check it. If you hard lock the device you will never be unable to unlock it. You have to make sure the IMEI is correct by doing *#06# and enter your unlock code super carefully. How many times did you enter the wrong code? LG gives you ten unlock attempts. Why do you only have 1 attempt left? If you want a code fast I can help you get one for $6.00 (cheaper on eBay). Make very sure the next code you try is correct and enter the numbers very carefully.
There is NO reason you have to buy a unlock code.
Cell providers in the USA HAVE too provide you the unlock code, it's the LAW.
They email it too you within 24 hours.

I'm pretty sure there is no law requiring that in the USA. T-Mobile will do it for active account holders. I think you have to have had your account in good standing for a certain number of consecutive days or something. But I don't think there is any law requiring it.

It is lawful to unlock your phone, but there is no law that I know of that requires a carrier to do so. In many cases they will provide you with the code if your case meets their criteria.
Here is T-Mobile's policy on the matter

Actually I've double checked the code that I gave them, and it still does not unlock.
I tried multiple roms, and this is why I have only 1 attempt left.
Think you can help me with the unlock code ? I can give you the code I've tried, and you can see if you have another one listed.
Edit: I've called t-mobile, and after talking with them for 20 minutes, they said that I can ask a "friend" which has a T-mobile account with prepaid and active for over 60 days, which could ask for the subsidized unlock code for me..
Any volunteers ? (It should "cost" you only a call to them..)

Yes but you would need to send me $6.00 by PayPal for me to get the code for you. I would need your IMEI also (triple checked). Then you can see if the code from my source is the same as the code you bought already.

Call forwarding?

I'm sorry if this is not in the right section.
I'm in America and I have a Los Angeles phone number. I would like to have an Australian phone number (don't ask why, personal reasons). So that way, when I give out my phone number, I will give out my Australian phone number.
And when they call my Australian number, it will redirect it to my USA one and when I call someone, it will show as my Australian one.
Also when they text me, it will go to my USA one but when I text back to them, it will still show as my Australian number. Any thing that will help me do this? Thanks!
1)diverting an AU number to a USA one will cost you significantly per call you receive.
2)it is unlikely you can divert the SMS messages easily
3)it is unlikely you will be able to give the Australian number as your outbound CLI if actually calling from your USA sim. Also CLI is often lost on international calls at the best of times.
Why not just put an Australian Sim card in you phone.
No diverting, redirecting etc etc.
Just as simple as Australian number on an Australian Sim in your phone.
Roaming fee's will likely be significant and you would need to get a decent plan to keep costs controlled.

I can not really tell what that app is trying to do. But if it is attempting to alter you cli it is unlikely to be supported by many respectable carriers at all. Nearly all carriers will ignore the cli your phone requests if it is not the number associated with the account. That is dependant on the carrier but most will not allow you to spoof your number.

Alrighty, thanks. Do you know any text apps that will allow you to create a phone number based in Australia? Paid can be fine.
Never heard of any apps that allow you to purchase an Australian number to send recieve from. Clickatel might via their desktop products, but normally 2way is not done on aus numbers.
I have never really looked though.

I thought Google Voice only offers Google Voice Numbers to USA.
You can not get an Australian number (or any other region) with Google Voice.
You can not forward to international numbers via the service either.
While double checking that limitation of Google Voice it did stumble across a service called Truphone that appears to sell Australian numbers.
VOIP calls which could be an issue.
Forwards SMS to local number (SMS fee) or forward to email(free).
EDIT:
Nope.
Unfortunately the store is unavailable in your country. At this time only US and UK users can purchase inbound Truphone numbers.
I wasnt sure.

Will N5 work on ATT?

I heard that it is not "officially supported" on ATT. Will I be able to get an ATT prepaid SIM card and use it on N5 in the US?
It should work with ATT.
I've basically asked the same thing here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2508100
Im trying to understand what IMEI number to give them when I sign up. Will they take the Nexus number or do I need to visit a store and "find" an IMEI from an ATT LTE phone?

Any reason why you'd even want to give them an IMEI number? I haven't given AT&T any numbers for this Z1 I'm on and it's working perfectly. If you mean for a new activation, you may not need to give them one. I'll get in touch with a friend to see what's needed.

The Nexus 5 is fully compatible with all the ATT frequencies. I don't think there should be anything to worry about as far as the IMEI goes, there is no reason the IMEI number on the label of your Nexus 5 box shouldn't work.
The only time you should have to worry about the IMEI is when you're buying a used phone off of cragslist or ebay, because if someone stole the phone or defaulted on their account, the IMEI can be blacklisted by the service provider.

You can't "find" an IMEI number. Their unique to each phone. You can spoof them but it's not legal or ethical. It's also not something an average user is even going to be able to understand. Use the one from the N5. It will work fine.

[Guide] Gear S3 Frontier (765A) Carrier Unlock

Ok, so after a lot of trial and error, I've figured out how to successfully unlock the device. Up front, I have been unsuccessful at getting another carrier to pick up the watch, as they don't really understand eSIM configuration yet...but Verizon is working on it.
The CODE is the same as it was for unlocking the old SGS3.
1. Purchase the watch out of contract from your carrier.
2. For AT&T, follow the normal online unlock procedure. Wait your 48 hours and get the unlock code from the carrier.
3. Go to About Device
4. Scroll to Software Version
5. Tap the screen 5 times, and a keypad will appear
6. Type #7465625*638*#
7. A screen will appear that says "Personalisation. Enter NCK"
8. Enter the unlock code that AT&T gave you. Hit OK.
9. It will begin a blue rotating clockwise circle around the screen. Wait for about a minute until it shows "Notify SUCCESS!!!"
10. Profit!
As I stated I haven't added this to another carrier yet. Verizon is trying, H2O Wireless Indian customer service gave up when I told them I couldn't take the watch apart to access the SIM, and I haven't tried Straight Talk or Cricket yet, but I'll post back when I do.
In the meantime it is worth noting that I was able to add the watch to a separate AT&T prepaid 3GB plan for $43. More expensive than I want right now...but better than not having the 4G! Their customer service will tell you that it doesn't qualify for any prepaid plan, but their prepaid department can create one so don't let them yank you around.
Hope this helps some people! Freedom!

As I stated I have not yet added the phone to a new carrier yet. I also can't vouch for whether or not this will function on a 765T, as I don't have one to test on. I would venture to say if yours doesn't do anything...it probably doesn't work. Though you may be able to enter your unlock code after the second asterisk, followed by another one, then #...that may work but who knows.

Thanks again. I was curious as I live in Argentina and local carriers don't manage (in theory) eSim.
I have been researching and noticed that activation in some countries is through a QR Code and through the Gear App, but I checked my Gear App but the activation tab is not there. Also in the watch settings there is also an added tab within the Reset Gear that lets you reset the carrier which also is not showing.
Thanks for your contribution.

I've seen the same things online but it appears that the carrier has different firmware that doesn't have that...same with the Gear phone app.
Verizon has also stated that they won't add the device so I'm stuck with ATT prepaid.

Hi Slapshot, could you walk us through the activation process? Did you just provide them the device imei? What info did they require from you regarding the device? Did you have to type any info in the watch? How did you get a number assigned and how did the watch register what the number was? I would very much appreciate knowing this. Thank you in advance.

All you need is your IMEI and your SIM (ICC ID) number. You give them those, select the prepaid plan you want, and they'll send you a series of text messages for activation. Once you've done the unlock process (which isn't even necessary if you're going AT&T prepaid), you call the prepaid department for AT&T. It's no more difficult than activating any other device.

Meanwhile I wonder if my device is really unlocked. I got my S3 LTE from South Korea with a SK telecom branding. The seller told me, that it is unlocked but at least I am not really sure. How can I verify this?

Any way to verify if a Sk telecom model is really unlocked?
Got mine unlocked by going to imei-unlocker.com It was $19.65 USD and they responded within 2x days or less. Went through the guide in this thread and it did say Success! No way to 100% verify at this time, but I'm hopeful if I do end up switching carriers that I will be in fact unlocked.

I don't know, lol. But AT&T swore up and down they couldn't do it and don't listen to things you read on forums. So for lack of a better excuse, I did it because they said no. But more information may come out later about how to switch.

Thanks for the reply. Back in the day there truly were PUK (I can't remember the acronyms for everything) generators. Of course there were many paid ones, but there were also many free ones. I suspect the phone companies actually installed the free ones so that the other guys wouldn't actually make very much money for the paid services.

Most carriers don't use SIM unlock codes anymore. Every single carrier sells at least 1 model that does not use/take a code, even if other models of theirs do
