[Q] Charging Indicator? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just wondering if this phone will have some sort of charging indicator. I know that it doesn't have any notification LED, so I'm just curious as to when the nexus S is off and charging, how will we know when it's done?

I'm guessing the screen will turn on, displaying a charing battery. That's what the other Galaxy S phones do at least.

most of the galaxy s phones notify you with the screen turning on to tell you it's fully charged, but that is a touchwiz feature as far as i know.

Hi There,
Well there are a lot of apps in the market to tell you that your device is fully charged.
Some Of them Are:
BATTERYDOCTOR
BATTERY CABLIBRATION--intended to wipe battery stats.
* Download Battery doctor and configure it to beep once the phone is fully charged up.
OR
*Download Battery Calibration app and click on the option Beep When fully charged.
It will give a beep sound when device will get fully charged.
If Helped in Any Way Please Click Thanks !

[Q] While plugged in USB battery shows fully charge when its not

Recently when I have my phone plugged into the computer charging it will say its fully charge in a matter of minutes no matter how dead the battery is. After I unplug the phone it shows its true battery level, I have noticed that it still charges the battery if I just leave it plugged in, I just find it really odd that the system is reporting a fully charged battery. Anyone else experiencing this type of problem or maybe know of a fix?

Did you flash a ROM recently with your battery not fully charged? If you have then your battery stats are out of wack. When it says it is fully charged, just unplug it and re-plug it in. Continue to do this. Also make sure to run your battery down till it shuts off. This process will take you some time, but until we can wipe battery stats with CWM this is the only fix I know about.

you could flash your phone back to stock and see if it changes? or if you have a vibrant or an extra battery try using it and see if it says the same percentage or level

(Q) how to know when anker battery is fully charged

When I'm charging the banker battery, the notification will go green so I think its fully charged. But I've noticed that when I unhook the cable and use the phone for a while, then plug it back in, the notification light lights green. So I'm wondering, does the light turn green for the banker battery at a certain level even though its not fully charged?
Should I let it sit on the charger a couple more hours after the light turns green?

Charge it til it turns green, then turn the device off and charge it for another hour with it being off and it will be fully charged. This is known as bump charging, but does decrease the long-term life of your battery if it is done too often.

+1 to that!
try this: charge battery until the LED turns green. Unplug & then wait until your battery is no longer showing 100% before you try to plug it back in. Mine will show 100% for a while before going down in percentage.
I thought android phones showed green at some point in the 90 percentile range? So if your at 98% it will still be green.
From what I understand because of the old battery the phone thinks that the capacity of current battery is the same. So unless you rooted your phone and wiped battery stats, you are not reaching the full potential of your battery. Unless you turn off your phone and let the hardware judge when the battery is full.

I already wrote somewhere that for the battery is good remove battery about 5 minutes. You need to install a Battery Calibration, charge the battery until the end, open the Battery Calibration, follow the instructions, get out of it and turn off the charger.
Battery Calibration is recommended to use 2-3 times per year. Not more.
I am too facing battery problem after flashing custom Roms...
i want to mention here that if you want to use cyanogenmod but facing fast battery draining problems..then TJ_styles cyanogenmod 7.2 rc1 is best for use...i actually got surprised by its wonderful battery performance...just want to say thanks to TJ_style..superb ROM
If uvare that much confused just enable patternlock.. It shows the exact percantage of battery when u put on charging bro.. Or else remove it when u get a green notification icon showing 100 percent bro

[Q] Can you disable the charging LED

I charge my phone with the dock on my bedside table. The LED being on all the time is annoying. I use light flow but it seems unable to control the charge state for the LED.
Anyone know if there is a way, short of rooting, to stop the battery LED.

I don't think there is way to disable charging LED,probably root will be able to
But for now,you can try to change the led colour to make it not that bright...

What do you mean? I've tried setting the brightness to minimum (and turning auto off) and it makes no difference. LED still shows while charging.
EDIT: Oh I see, you were being a wise-ass and suggesting I put the phone face down. Anyone got anything useful to contribute?
Kinda off topic but why the hell does the led turn green BEFORE its fully charged lol This is just so stupid because ive often seen the led turn green, and unplugged the charger thinking it was fully charged only to see it on 90+ %. Would be so much better if they just kept it orange and it does not turn green until it reaches 100!! Dont think you can turn it off either by the way but you can for notifications

I wrote about how I fixed this in the Z3C forum. Check it out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=55818000
Cool, thanks. That basically works.
I am using Light Flow and it seems that if you try to use absolute black (HEX Code FF000000) it doesn't work and the default charging colour overrides it.
If you use any other colour it does work so I set the charging and fully charged events to use HEX Code FF000001 (which is as good as black) and that works! It still uses the normal charging colours when the screen is on but that's not a problem.
I can finally have a dark bedroom while the phone is docked!
Can a mod mark the title with [Solved]. I think this would be helpful to a few people.

I agree 100% but that's the code in the AOSP. Cyanogenmod, slimroms etc all do it. It's just the corporate stock roms that don't, generally - this is the first one I've seen which does it.
I have absolutely no idea why it's not perfectly clear to everyone that you only want the led to go green when the charge level reaches 100%, so that you don't have to perform two checks to see if the battery is charged: one for the LED colour, and a second to see if the value is 100.

Anyone leave LED indicator on?

I don't know if turning LED indicator on does significantly affect battery life or not.
I really want to leave it on because it's really cool showing the red and green light while charging.
What do you mean by leaving it on? Leaving it on while charging or all the time?
If you leave it on while charging, it shouldn't affect battery life at all because you're charging the phone. If you're talking about all the time, then I'm not sure what the effect on battery would be.

When there's a notification while not charging, the light will flash as well.

This is standard. 99.9% of people out there leave their notification light on. The effect on battery is minimal.
I keep the LED light on. I don't notice it affecting my battery life.
