Even though in Settings I have the Wi-Fi set to never go to sleep it still disconnects after the screen turn off or after a period of inactivity. This appears to be consistent and happens if the tablet is on battery or plugged in.
Would this be a software or a hardware issue?

I have a cheap android tablet with no GPS. Location is enabled, but it can only require the location from Wi-Fi networks.
Often toggled the Wi-Fi to off when I leave the tablet for a while. The problem is, that the screen turns on and off every few seconds when Wi-Fi is off.
Once I toggle Wi-Fi on, the screen behaves normally.
How can I fix this?
Hi!
I have some problems with WIFI on my tablet, it disconnects randomly from my WIFI network quite often, at home this isn't too much of a problem as the device reconnects itself in a few, but then I traveling with trains, the device disconnects as soon as I stop browsing the web for a few minutes, and then fails to reconnect itself, turning WIFI on and off makes the device able to connect again but only for a few minutes, then the problem reappear.
I have already tried to disable powersaving mode, set WIFI to never sleep in WIFI options and turning off WIFI optimization too. Neither of these fixed my problems., factory reset didn't help me either, as this happens on trains too, I can't change the router settings either, is there anything else I can try???
I also send my device into Asus repair serviceservice 2 times, first time they did troubleshoot my battery charging (which was working flawless and I asked them to troubleshoot my WIFI not battery), second time they was troubleshooting my WIFI error, but screwed up the battery.
Third time they replaced the motherboard and after all this I'm still stuck with my broken WIFI.
Please help me
Hi.
I have been experiencing some annoying problems with my OnePlusOne device with regard to DLNA streaming and disconnection events.
When streaming thru DLNA over WiFi my OnePlusOne tends to disconnect from the WiFi connection when going into Sleep/Idle mode after about 5-10 minuter after the screen has been turned off.
Most importantly is that I already ticked the checkbox "Keep Wifi during sleep" within the WiFi settings!
I have tried several attempts with disabled the lock screen and battery savings set to maximum performance, both without luck.
Do you have any experience with this issue and any idea on how to make it more robust so it doesn't disconnect after a while?
Best regards
Thomas Jespersen
I've noticed my S7 will not join an existing wifi area when locked / sleep mode.
I have a WOL task that runs when the phone reconnects to a wifi access point. I have to turn the screen on then I notice the "connected to wifi" message come up.
I have excluded tasker from batter optimisation, but I don't think that is the problem. Also, wifi on during sleep is enabled.
Hi there,
I'm using my old Nexus 5 for navigation. Each time when the phone is going to standby, the bluetooth connection (tethering by another phone) get lost.
Is there a solution to avoid this?
Bluetooth timeout is one of the most common reasons Bluetooth is turned off without warning. By default, after about 10 minutes of being idle, your device will usually go into "standby" mode to conserve power. This turns the screen off and removes certain connections, like Bluetooth.
Is there anybody possibility to change the timeout? I can't find this option in developers options.
Guaranteed not to be found under Developer Options.
Not all devices will let you control when your Bluetooth turns itself off automatically.
Every smartphone or device is different when it comes to setting Bluetooth connections and connectivity preferences. You can usually find instructions on how to alter your Bluetooth online by searching for your phone model.
