How come there are no signal versions of the text/typo style widgets? I personally would be interested. Any one up for it?
Please move if needed.

Oh, come on. The guy wants a widget that shows signal strength in words rather than numbers or symbols. It's not that difficult to understand, is it? Something like "72 PERCENT" or "3 BARS" for signal strength.
"Signal Strength Pro" might be what you are looking for.
Someone woke up on the crabby side of the cave this morning. Pardon me for curiosity. However, this is relevant to my interests.

YES! i thought that everyone interested in the current text style widgets and Themes would like this idea.
Ive used that widget before, its just a little busy. A percent string, number of bars, or a simple image with JUST the bars would be what im looking for.

Since I have a giant clock widget on my home screen I feel this is pretty redundant. A quick google search yielded this result:
http://www.market4android.com/remove-the-clock-from-task-bar.php
But, that's for the Hero. Any ideas on if we can do something similar with the EVO?
hahaha, same here. it's retarded when i click on the show your home screen thread and see the huge sense like time along with the smaller taskbar time. or people have the battery widget showing the same thing as the taskbar battery. having the widget repeating the same information as the taskbar is redundant. it would be nice to disable it in the taskbar so i can put up some widgets.
Im really wanting to get rid of my stock battery icon as well. I had it on the hero, since Im using a battery widget that shows the percentage up there anyway.
I have the time removed on my moment but i doubt the same update zip will work on the evo.
itd be great if we could...

I did something like this on my old moto droid, that made the time disappear. Only prob left an open spot where the tine used to be, but at least it was gone. I will check on droid forums.net to see if I can find it.

Obviously some way to shift the icons over or put something else there would be ideal, but even just removing the time and having a blank space would be fine with me. I just think it's dumb to have the time shown twice right next to each other. Thansk for checking.
I agree. The only time it's handy is when you're in an app and you want to check the time real quick by hitting menu and dropping down the notification bar. I wonder if I'd miss that once it's gone.
When I get home I'll try to achieve it if no one else has, wish I knew how to remove that empty space tho >.
You can get rid of the notification bar altogether with ADW Launcher. Don't know if that will help you guys.

I still want the notification bar..I just don't want the time in it and I'm appealing to the experts here because I don't know how to mod the notification bar.
A thousand internets to whoever does it.
When you pull down the notification bar, it shows all the apps that were opened previously. Is this harming the speed of the phone? Are the apps open in the backgroud? If so, how to you close them?

Don't worry about it. Also, apps don't have to be open to be in the recently used list.
I was wondering about this useless feature too. Any way we can replace it with wifi/gps/rotation/etc. toggle switches?

I use widgetsoid for some awesome toggle widgets, but having the basic toggles (or nothing) in the notifications bar would be better IMO.
I apologize for my English but I use google translator ..... I tried to do some research into the site with fail ... wonder if it's possible to have new icons for the status bar for the reception in the signal and especially the battery meter style speedometer .... thank you in advance! ;-)

I don't know what style of status bar icons you are looking for, but if you'd like just the speedometer style battery mod, then I put it up HERE... you can check it out. Keep in mind that it's for a 2.3.4 ROM.
Let me know how it works out for you.

This image is from Droid Life's review of the Verizon model and it's present in my Verizon model as well but doesn't appear to be in others.
This is probably a simple answer but it's not an easy one to search for, sorry!
i believe that's the GPS and location service icon. you can turn off both the Google and VZW ones in settings, but it'll still leave the crosshair icon.

Interesting, how come the T-Mobile version doesn't have it then? Or at least not in the reviews I've seen
Given all the icons are now white and the notification bar is transparent, what if you have a light/white background? The icons are going to disappear into the background now?
I guess it will be semi-transparent or even customizable

Yes, it would be good if one could also change the color of the icons. I miss that aswell but at least google catches up to iOS on this one and various custom roms that already had this feature months ago,

That's what custom ROMs and themes are for. Who among us on XDA going to buy this device and use it "as is" right out of the box?
It looks to me like there will be a drop shadow to compensate for light backgrounds/icons. I like the transparency idea very much, actually.
This is always a PITA for us developers, assuming we want our apps to stay current with the appearance standards for the new versions of Android as they come out. Basically, I have to supply icons in differing sizes/colors for several versions of Android and in 4 different densities for each. So for a given notification icon, the app will probably contain about 16 icons to cover it all even though only one of them ends up being used on a particular user's device!
I'm waiting now to see if Android 4.4 will specify something different for the main app shortcut icons since it looks like the standard system icons have a new look.

I was thinking about that. It does seem like they are different, if the leaked images can be trusted.

I like the Transparent look of 4.4 but as you said i hope there are options to change it like there are on the G2

Except that that is ugly, to me at least. You guys should be happy google does not for some reason start to use Comic Sans as the main script.
Comic sans is the most overused, notoriously evil font ever to exist. Even NASA and other institutes have been known to use it.

It's much more subtle than the example above, and it's quite well done. Even Samdung has found a way to do it in the S4. The drop shadow is just enough. Doesn't look ugly at all. It's actually the only pretty thing about Touchwiz, and it didn't arrive until the latest iteration.
