[APP][SUGGESTION] Auto E-mailer - Android Apps and Games

So I'd do this myself but haven't made the time to. This is more of a request / suggestion for an application. Basically every time you take a photo or a video the application automatically email's the file to any email's you entered into the application. I'm sure its possible since the photo bucket application can upload new photos automatically.
In case you are not aware of why this is useful, basically every photo and video service can accept emails for uploading. Like flickr, facebook, even youtube.
So the program should check the camera's default folder (which should be able to be set in the program) one for new videos and one for new photos. And then use two input fields one for email addresses for new photos and one for addresses for new videos, and then send an email (with some default tags, titles, etc, also able to be set in the program). Then of course you can go through the photos when you get home.
Anyhow if anyone wants to work on this or thinks its a good idea, let me know.

Viewing Geotagged Photos

Is there a way to view geotagged photos send though sms (from my htc to someone else's phone) with a map or link to a map at all? If this is only on certain phones using a certain application then I'd be fine with that. I just want some more info on this since I've unlocked the geotag option on my HTC Touch Pro. Thanks

I would bet that sending a picture via SMS/MMS strips out any EXIF as it resizes it etc.
This is a bit roundabout, but perhaps you can upload the pictures to Flickr and they can view it from there? If you have it turned on Flickr, it'll automagically geocode the images if they have GPS tags in them.
TrackMe can also upload photos and the user can see them from the website.
Perhaps someone will have other ideas.
Yea I saw those options but I went with web picasa for the web portion (since it's tied directly to google for gmaps and all). Too bad there doesn't seem to be an app. that can just sms/mms to someone where they can open the pic and have a link directly to the spot on mobile google maps.

[REQ] Decent Contact Pictures!

I'm fed up. 2 Android revisions, and no fix. And no third party fix I can find that doesn't require HTC Sense.
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=12116
Contact pictures get resized to 96x96 when you sync with Google. Then the phone tries to display them at 210x210 when you get an incoming call. Not only is this stupid, it looks horrible.
There is no way to force the phone to STORE A LOCAL, HIGH-RES VERSION of your contact images (whether they came from Facebook, 5 MP cam built in, or a Canon 7D) because the sync with Google will overwrite them with the crappy 96x96 that Google Contacts uses. Yes, I understand all of these services are free, but there are at least a dozen more bug reports like mine up there.
I understand I can disable Google Sync. I am not going to disable Google Sync, and then MANUALLY set all of my contact images. Because as soon as I add a contact or make some change, I will want to sync, and wham-o, all the pictures are back to 96x96.
I understand there's some work around with Sense that allows you to create a "Phone" contact, set the high-res picture there, and then link it to any relevant contacts. I don't have Sense, I'm using CM6 on an N1, and I don't want to use Sense. It should work out of the damn box.
Any ideas?
+1 on that issue, it really annoys me to see pixalated contacts...

If you know email, and this phone, please help!

After setting up my email accounts through the stock email application, I've noticed all of my emails with embed photos, either within the email or attached....they are all automatically downloaded to the phone. I can view them in the gallery even. I didn't know the phone was doing this until I went into the gallery to see a couple images I took with the phones camera.
My question is, can you stop the email application from automatically downloading all the images/files? I get about 3,000 emails a month (corporate) and this is going to be quite annoying considering the promotions and email signatures including small gif/jpg files.
Any help would be great. Cheers.

Have you tired to limit the size of the email received?
I haven't. I'm sure that would obviously help for the larger images, but these little gifs that are embeded within an email signature for example, are sometimes 1kb, so very very small. No other Android phone I've owned ever did this without me clicking on the image and downloading it first, myself. It's just fetching the files automatically and downloading them.
Funny thing is, 95% of the emails I DO NOT OPEN!!!!
I don't get work email on my phone but, I do use the pop feature. Maybe its a exchange server issue. I don't have that problem with pop.
It probably is automatically downloading them as an "attachment". Turn that feature off.

[Q] Default picture for contacts

Hello,
I have many phone book accounts synchronized on my phone (Google, Funambol, Twitter, etc.) and I would like to know if it is possible to set the default picture for all the address book.
In other words, I would like that every contact would show the picture which is memorized in my Funambol Account.
I know that to modify the picture I can go to the single contact's details, press the "chain" (which means such contact is linked) and select the picture I want to be shown, but this is not persistent and I have to re set every time the picture to the one I want.

Even i would like to find out if there is any way you can automate this process to set pic account by default rather than doing it manually for the 600 or so contacts i have...
With Syncmypic you can add Facebook contact pictures to your phonebook. Maybe there is a tool like this for you in the market.
Mmm. An option for default source or sources with selectable priority would be nice
Sent from my Desire S using XDA App
It sounds very strange to me that Android doesn't have something to customize that! I don't think it would be so difficult to implement.
Maybe send this as a wish list item to your favorite ROM dev?

[APP][3.2+] CloudSocial

All - I have developed my first Android application, which is still in its infancy but fully functional.
The app is called CloudSocial, you can find it on the Play store.
I am hoping to get some constructive feedback on its ease of use, usefulness, appearance etc.
Why this app?
I have lots of photos on Dropbox, especially a lot of old ones. There was no easy way to get them onto Facebook without having to download to a device and then upload. You can obviously share a link to the Dropbox folder, but thats not the same as having them actually on Facebook for friends to like and comment on individual photos.
Similarily, my digital camera can upload directly to my NAS drive, which in turn uploads to my Dropbox account. Using CloudSocial - I can easily browse these photos and select which ones I want - and send them to a new or existing Facebook album, with whatever privacy settings I wish.
Description
Send photos from Dropbox to Facebook!
CloudSocial allows you to easily transfer photos from your Dropbox account to Facebook. You can transfer photos to existing Facebook albums, or create and send to new albums.
Features:
* Browse and Transfer photos directly from Dropbox to Facebook
* Easily create a new Facebook album for your photos, or add to an existing Facebook album
* Photos are not downloaded to your phone, so no large data transfers
* Choose Facebook privacy settings for new albums
* Photos are stored on Facebook, so your Friends can Like and Comment.
* Click on a thumbnail image to view a larger photo
Any concerns about permissions, let me know. The app cannot retrieve any passwords for either Facebook or Dropbox! No email addresses or any other user info at all is collected or stored.
The app is ad supported using admob.
Thanks for your time and feedback is appreciated (even critical).
Reserved for Q/A:
Q. Can this app see my password?
No - CloudSocial uses authentication provided by Dropbox and Facebook, so we are unable to see or store any passwords.
Q. Do I have to wait for the thumbails to be downloaded before I select and post my photos?
No - if you know what photos you want to send to your album, just select them (or select all) and hit the post button.
Q. How much data does the application use?
Only thumbnail images are downloaded from Dropbox (not full size images). These thumbnails are very small in size (around 15KB). They are also cached so they will not be downloaded again.
Q. If no images are downloaded to my phone, why does it take so long to send to Facebook?
CloudSocial has to ask Dropbox for a link to your photo. It can take around 1 second for each photo to get that link.
If you are posting a lot of photos to Facebook, it can take a bit longer to retrieve all the links. Good news is that this is done in the background so you can use your phone wihtout interruption.
Q. It takes a long time to list all my Dropbox photos?
If you have lots of images in a folder, it can take longer to list and display them all. You should consider reducing the number of images in a Dropbox folder by creating sub-folders.
Q. Why didn't all my photos transfer?
Occasionally there may be a couple of photos which don't make it. This is often due to internal server errors either on Dropbox or on Facebook. This tends to happen most when you are trying to upload a lot of photos (100+). We recommend uploading 60 or less at a time.
Tried this out and it works great, transferred a lot of photos using it (well my wife did and she found it easy to use).
I've left feedback and rated on Google Play. :good:
Sound good but I usually share my photos directly by url from Dropbox.

Thanks for the reply, I'm curious as to how you share your photos on Facebook. Do you have to share the photos individually?
If you want to share an album from Dropbox to Facebook, it only creates a link to the dropbox folder. So the user has to navigate away from Facebook in order to see the album. And they cannot comment on individual photos.
Also - you may not want everyone to see ALL the photos in an album. With my CloudSocial - you can select whatever photos you want from a dropbox folder, and send them to a new album, with whatever privacy settings you choose for that album.
Try my app and let me know if it is easier to share your photos and let me know!
Thanks
