Polaris 100 Camera Problem with latest Froyo - Touch Cruise Android Development

Hi all,
i have a camera problem after installing Android on my Polaris 100.When i turn on my camera it gives me just a green screen and after a while the OS gives me the message that the process camera.android.com crashed unexpectedly.
I follow the installation to nand steps, that are posted in this forum by l1q1d ,i use the latest kernel 2.6.32 and the latest froyo release "Incubus26Jc_'s_Super_FroYo_RLS16",i create the nbh file using the latest 1.04 atools, and install the android using install.sh script.I tried different radio rom versions,i tried my original radio rom 1.58.XX.XX ,also 1.59.46.12 and 1.65.38.14 and 1.64.XX.XX ,i tried also My Warm Donut Android release but the camera won't work.On my WM6 and on WM6.5 cooked rom the camera works perfectly ,so my conclusion is that this is not a hardware problem. What should i do,any ideas.
I like very much the Droid OS and i want to use it but this problem is very annoying,i search the forum for users with similar problem and i found some threads but they were useless cause the posts does not contain any particular resolutions for this problem.
I will appreciate any help that i can get.
10x in advance everybody

Well,
i finished with my Android experiments now i'll post the results.First i have to say that i didn't succeed to have a working camera on my Android NAND installation .Like l1q1d advace me for all my installations i used kernel 2.6.25,i use 3 version of radio ROM 1.58 (21.23/25.14/26.20) i installed androidupdate from l1q1d sourceforge site, and i use nbh file from his "Kaiser thread".
Now the results by Android Releases:
1.Latest Froyo Release:
Installation failed!
System message during installation:Install module failed.Could not install for this kernel.
2.Latest Froyo Unodex-en (from sourceforge)
Installation succeeded.
1.58.21.23-Camera gives green screen
1.58.25.14-Camera flickering in all kind of colors and shuts down after a while.
1.58.26.20-Camera flickering in all kind of colors and shuts down after a while.
3.Latest Gingerbread (26.12 from sourceforge)
Installation failed!
System message:No space left on device cannot extract data.
4.Barebones deodex
Installation failed!
System message during installation:Install module failed.Could not install for this kernel.
5.Barebones odex
Installation failed!
System message during installation:Install module failed.Could not install for this kernel.
Well that's all folks,if someone has any ideas how to have a working camera on NAND let share his experience with us

The 2.6.32 kernel hasn't camera support for polaris now

Sorry to mention that but i tried also with kernel 2.6.25 with same result, which kernel exactly has a camera support? And could you be more accurate which radio version the Incubus RLS16 is working WITH camera support,is there any chance to have a working android installation with all my communications and features working,i didn't ask much, just want to use my phone for calls, wifi,BT ,GPS and camera thats all.
Regards
godjak

i suggest latest 2.6.25 kernel for camera, choose one release from kaiser thread and remember to install the modules from the modules/androidupdate.tgz in sourceforge.
you asked a fully working system (not too much....)

What did you mean by "Kaiser thread" can you post me a link to this thread?
Do you mean androidupdate.tgz on the atools sourceforge page???
The camera is a very basic feature of every modern phone i don't think i ask for too much,or what can i do with phone that i can't make phone calls.I'm ok with the bugs on your currently developing OS but this is something that i need to have, just to enjoy my PDA and the Droid OS,sorry

Camera isn't a very basic feature for a phone without native android so, there is work to do, if you want to help you are welcome
The update is the one from sourceforge (or look in kaiser thread for the link)

Obviously you won't tell me what is this "kaiser thread" ,do you mean that i have to use kaiser nbh file ,or i'm just guessing your posted hints,if you don't want to help just don't post any more replies i get your insinuating remark.I see that you are the smartest guy in this forum because from the threads i read i'm not the only one getting clever answers and no specific solutions from you for the problems, but this is your right of course.

Greetings!
At me camera Polaris100, android 2.2 has earned!
The system is established on SDcard. Details later.
Excuse for my English

Wow that was some bad english lol. Sounds like your excited about android on your polaris though which is good!

camera works
google translator has done his dirty work! But I will continue to use it. (Better than the very bad way.)
I wanted to say that after extensive experiments android all still earned 2.2 on my touch cruise (polaris 100) including camera and wi-fi.
Everything works! but not yet stable.
I shall list what is not working:
-The camera takes pictures only when switching to video mode error.
-The front camera is not working.
-FM radio does not work.
else works 100%!
Thanks to everyone who has been developing an android 2.2 for polaris 100!

New Hemli_c Rom For Apache...Thx Hemi!!!

This is a new rom which is still in the testing phases but works fantastic as I have been using it for a week. Here is a quote from Hemi_c post over at PPCGeeks.com
Quote from Hemli_c "the rom is with newest core available for apache device, and the rom size is big fat, so that why it can contain a lot of more space then any other rom for apache exist ( u might check my R2 it has a lot of big size APP) that will not possible with the current exist rom for apache...
the rom has a lot of new stuff, MMS 3.5.1.23 (Available is v3.0.16.16 ancient version), And WMP /Ringtones capabilities is now equal to newest hermes since it hub and Direct Show are new version (AAC, 3GP, AMR, MP4, Mp3, WMA, Wav, Midi, etc can be ringtone and play it with Windows Media Player), OS BUILT is 5.1.478 (old is 5.1.195), and other advantage and also its built with new kitchen method... but it still in testing phase... so some might not work correctly... For example WModem will not work if Microsoft Voice Commander is active... and anything else that I didn't know yet... please report issue when u hv them..."
Link to the rom: ftp://ppcgeeks:[email protected]/Apache/helmi_c/New_Core/helmi_APACHE_2.60.10_WWE_R2.rar
Enjoy!!!

Hello from venezuela
Ok
That ROM is used for any operator as I telephone?
I am of Venezuela and have an installed AKu 3,5 in my apache and is compatible with my mobil Serbian operator.
It´s possible to clarify this point to me.
He excuses my English but he is quite bad
Luck and successes
Yes, any Apache rom should work as long as it is not designated as a carrier specific rom. For instance, some of the custom roms have the Sprint ExtRom built in. However, this rom from Helmi should work for all Apaches.

THANK YOU
Just wanted to say THANK YOU
I have a sprint ppc-6700 and upgraded my rom to CE and just did a quick test so far so good..
I do have one question.. would it be possible to get a "basic/light" version of the ROM without so many apps installed.
For example without, Adobe reader, voice command, all the ringtones/pictures, SPB, etc...
Please let me know and thank you again for all your hard work

Why?
Just disable the stuff. It is not taking up any of your usable memory. Also, check out some of the custom roms that are available at ppcgeeks.com. They are all based off of Helmi's previous releases of 3.3 and 3.5
thank you for the suggestion for PPCGeeks... i went over there and downloaded/installed the "Clean and simple AKU 3.5 for the Sprint Apache"
seems to be just what I wanted.. thank you again
Do I need to flash back to the original rom in order to use this rom. Im getting an erro message that says Im trying to install on the wrong type of device.. Im using a sprint ppc-6700.. If you dont want to post here, you can email me directly at [email protected] with instructions..

try putting it into boot loader mode first then flash the rom to it
how to download this rom
i can not down thru ftp server that i dont have user name and pass
Note that the newest ROM is now R4 and the link on the first page won't work as the files have all been re-arranged. I'm happily using a ROM I created from R3, as the R4 Kitchen seems to have some issues along with it's "creamy goodness".
If you go to the ppcgeeks FTP site and browse to Apache;Latest Kitchen, you'll see the new Kitchen.

Same with the above poster - cypherkin, really appreciate if someone could point us on how to - step by step - guidence - to load the roms for the first time for us newbies. Thanks for the info, as I cant wait to have the WM6 for our apache.
So sorry for my 1st post and already ask / request..

Apparently, ahmgsk has came out with a ROM for 32A users with fully working eclair.
maybe I'm late, and i apologize if this post is useless, but can the drivers for 32A magics be moved to g1/mytouch? or are the motherboards significantly different, making it impossible? just pondering on this.

Mods can delete this, i apologize, i jsut found out the drivers aren't compatible because the boards are not similar in that aspect
Nice try though! I was going to say that 32a and 32b would use different drivers.. but you got it!
Actually, most of the eclair devs have been working on it.
I thought that the only thing sitting in the way of 32A/B system images running on each other was that the radio and kernel had to match....? The 32B has the same MSM7201A that the DREAM has, and therefore the same GPU. I have also been unable to find any documented differences between the MSM7200A and MSM7201A except that the "1" version distributed in the US must lack some feature that was patented by broadcom. In particular, US patent numbers 5,452,104 and 5,576,767 -- related to H264 encoding.
http://www.google.com/patents/about?id=B4IlAAAAEBAJ&dq=5,452,104
http://www.google.com/patents/about?id=49EfAAAAEBAJ&dq=5,576,767
As I understand it, DECODING (playback) is no different, and the actual GPU functions of the two chips are identical, so the driver for the 7200a *should* work on the 7201a in DREAM just fine....
Further... to run a 32A system image on a 32B (for all intents and purposes identical to DREAM): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=635745
Warning: I haven't tried this and don't plan on being the first
** will require modification to the system image to make it actually FIT....
already ported it to g1
video doesnt work when ported
Just wondering if your currently fixing it?

Huawei U8860 Honor / Honour / Glory - Index

Welcome to the Huawei U8860 Honor / Honour / Glory - Index!
(please treat this thread as dev-thread, it is part of a dev-forum, not Q&A)
Please don't PM me for support, I will ignore those requests - they are just too many and I'm not getting paid for that, I'm not huawei support. Just ask your questions somewhere in the forum, but in my opinion this thread is really not the place for it, since this is a developer forum and not the Q&A section. That's why xda-developers adds restrictions to post here for new users - to prevent this to be a Q&A-Forum. Please Try to ask your questions in the appropriate Q&A-Section of the xda-developer Forum.
Different versions of the Huawei Honor
There are two feature differences that I am aware of:
Number of Touch-Points: 2 or 5; I have 2 touch-points and with B977 my ProjectMenu just printed "synaptic" as touchscreen version, with B919 it states "synaptics-TPK.6"
Position of Huawei Logo on the back: in the top-left corner (china / russia?) or in the middle like this: http://kaefert.is-a-geek.org/huawei_honor/IMG_7491_small.JPG
It seem's there are versions without a camera? at least user limzm states in his signature his U8860 doesn't have one.
Backup & Recovery
In my opinion the first and most important thing when playing around with different ROMs, is the ability to backup and restore the phones ROM & state.
For this you need a custom recovery (which you will also need to flash custom ROMs, so you might only skip this if you want to only flash stock ROMs)
If you're on an 2.3.6 ROM, then possibly for this to work, you first need to flash a different stock ROM. There have been reports that with 2.3.6 the method below may not work. Also some newer ROMs like B923 and above have locked boot loaders, the latest ICS ROM that you can use for this is B919
NEW: CWM 6.0.1.0 with touch-support: MOD EDIT: Link removed.
OLD: download recovery-u8860-en.img from here MOD EDIT: Link removed.
make sure there is no directory named "dload" on your micro-sd-card - if there is, rename or remove it.
Turn off Fast-Boot, and shutdown your phone. If you don't know how to turn off Fast-Boot, pull the battery (it can be found in different places in different ROMs)
Press and hold volume-up, volume-down and power-button at the same time.
You should now see your phones screen pink (="pink screen mode")
Now connect your phone with an USB cable to a computer
A few disks should be mounted, search for the one that has an "image" folder with an recovery.img and a boot.img inside it. rename the recovery.img to recovery-bak.img (or simular) and copy recovery-u8860-en.img there and rename it to recovery.img
WARNING: Don't use the file recovery_v8.img which is referenced in a few other guides. It crashes and leaves you with non bootable phone-states and/or with unfished backups which cannot be restored.
ROMs
Stock ROMs (& leaked stock ROMs)
Stock ROMs (or leaked stock ROMs) can be flashed like this:
Download and unpack onto your micro-SD Card like that: /mnt/sdcard/dload/UPDATE.APP (some ROMs also have UPDATE_CUST.APP, copy it to the same place. If you're update has a second dload_cust (or the like) folder, you need to flash it in a second round just as the first one, by renaming it to "dload")
Turn off Fast-Boot, and shutdown your phone. If you don't know how to turn off Fast-Boot, pull the battery (it can be found in different places in different ROMs)
Press and hold volume-up, volume-down and power-button at the same time.
If everything above was done correctly, you should be able to watch your phone upgrading now.
Alternative: Some ROMs have an option in the settings that lets you start the upgrade-procedure without step 2.) and 3.) from above. If you can find it, you can use that one.
You can find stock ROMs here:
International ROMs: http://www.huaweidevice.com/worldwide/technicaIndex.do?method=gotoProductSupport&productId=3834&tb=1

The most important Stock-ROM in my eyes (as base for most custom ROMs there are) is B919, find it here:

For people running linux on their computers, I've created an adapted version of this root tool:
kaefert.is-a-geek.org/huawei_honor/HuaweiHonorRootTool_LinuxVersion.7z
OLD: Theres a nice guide explaining how to root and flash+enable google-apps here: (but don't take the recovery from there but from above. explanation also above) - only use this if the new method above doesn't work for you.

Custom ROMs
To flash custom ROMs:
download their .zip file and put it somewhere on your sd-card
boot into your custom recovery: turn off phone completly, then Long press volume up + power button (for installation of custom recovery see top of this post)
factory reset / wipe everything (not always necessary, but to be on the save side. Some ROMs will not work in some cases if you don't wipe first, however the other way round is also possible, there are custom ROMs that will NOT work if you wipe, best look at the instructions from where you downloaded the custom ROM..)
flash update zip -> choose zip from sd card.

Custom Kernels
I found a custom kernel that adds the option to overclock up to 2GHz. I'm used it running at 1.8GHz and it didn't seem to be any more unstable than before (I'm using the MIUI ROM which is a little bit instable all by itself already)
MOD EDIT: Link removed since you need to register to download the kernel, I also attached it MOD EDIT: Link removed to make it easier for you.
I also managed to build (and deploy) the 3.0.8 kernel sources provided by huawei myself, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23505650
With the help of the writer of rvoix I managed to adept our kernel in a way that rvoix works, but for the moment only mono so both parties mixed together in one channel (but recorded from the line, not only from the mic like most apps do). I attach the kernel that works with rvoix: View attachment boot_voc2.img.
Or for people wanting to build their kernels themselfs, here's the patch: http://code.google.com/p/rvoix/sour...pdragon/kernel/huawei_honor_u8860_rvoix.patch
UPDATE: Since our kernel sources don't work with B919 and later (non functional camera and wifi) I decided to go the other way round and modify the rvoix app to work with our kernel instead of adapting the kernel to work with the app. Here are the results: http://code.google.com/p/rvoix/downloads/detail?name=rvoix_mod_kaefert_v2.apk --> call recording that should work with all huawei honor 4.0.3 ROMs!

People who don't use google chrome or the chromium project (yet) probably don't know, that it has a really nice built-in translating feature, thats very useful for finding your way arround all these chinese (or russian) websites, and much better then using translate.google.com (or other such services) manually with other browsers.

Silent Huawei camera (ICS)
I was annoyed one day by all the noises the huawei camera simulates. Therefore I investigated and found out how to make it silent.

Enabling logcat output on huawei phones
If your on stock ROM its quite easy, just dial *#*#2846579#*#* and enable logging in the project menu
For custom ROMs, I got a link from paul, but I didn't try it:

UPDATE
Sorry guys, but there won't be any updates by me anymore. I've moved on to Sony Xperia Z. The notoriosly low memory problem finally did it. (And Ingress)
There's a newer list of custom ROMs here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45164331&postcount=3056
Hi guys.
I've just cleaned this thread and would like to remind everyone about some points, so that they're not repeated in the future, and explain all the missing links you may notice.
Warez is strictly forbidden on XDA. Please do not link to websites that provide it, or to ROMs that contain pirated apps.
Kernels are licensed under the GPL. This means that the kernel's source should be provided. If it is not, it's illegal and will be treated as warez as far as XDA is concerned. In simpler terms: if you're posting a link to a ROM that contains a kernel, or a kernel, make sure the kernel's source is available and link to it as well.
Recoveries that aren't based on stock and that use a zImage (which is covered by the GPL) must also be provided along with the source.
Links to competing or commercial websites are not allowed. Links to websites that require registration to access downloads are also not allowed (there are exceptions, please see rule #11 for more info.)
Credits must be given, and you must have permission to share the work. Assuming that you do: if this goes against the point above, you may mention the member/website without linking directly to his work. Point #2 still applies - a link to the kernel's source must be provided if necessary.
I realize this may have caused links to your favorite custom ROMs to be removed, and I apologize about that. Many of you clearly put a lot of effort into building, maintaining and helping with this index. However, all posts must respect the rules first and foremost.
Please PM me if you have any questions or if you need further clarification.
Thanks for understanding.
Hey thanks so much for helping with this. I followed your guides and managed to get my Honor rooted and on an ICS version. Thanks so much.

You're welcome. However, for the future, if theres nothing you want to say but to give thanks to someone for a post above yours, don't answer with a post of your own, but just use the "thanks" button. Thats what it was made for.
However if there are some questions or some obscurities in my post, feel free to ask.

Well, I've been using it for 2 days now. I wouldn't call it stable, it has some rough edges, sometimes some system app crashes (like in the beginning I had a problem with the SMS-app), and I've had 2 complete system crashes (forced reboot) while running oruxmaps for navigation & gps-logging with my byclicle.
Check with you, if i installed the custom recovery, and root, can i revert back to stock by flashing via the settings menu or the vol/power button combination and stock rom in load directory?

Well the settings menue doesn't contain the huawei upgrade option in every ROM (for example not in the MUIU ROM), but the volumn up+down while booting will probably work, I haven't tried though. The upgrade directory however has to be call "dload", not "load".
To revert back to a previous ROM I find it much better to use the nandroid backup and recover options that every recovery image I saw yet contains. However be careful, the recovery-v8.img posted on some other places is instable and crashes before the backup is finished. you won't be able to recover such an incomplete backup. Always check if you have some backup complete message, it should NOT reboot automatically after making a backup.

Well the MIUI ROM has much more configuration options, for example you have a statusbar settings page where you can choose between default battery icon, percentage number or the top pixel row in green. Or also the MIUI theme chooser is really nice.
Another useful thing is the permission manager thats included that (if you config it that way) asks you whenever an app tries to use a permission that its defined to require. for example if you have an app that has the permission to send sms then the permission manager will ask you the first time that the app really sends an sms if you want to allow or deny it, and also if you want to save your choice or if it should ask next time again.

Hmm. Well the only ideas I have:
1.) Theres a 2G+3G / 2G only switch, in the MIUI ROM I linked in my first post you can reach it like this:
Home Screen --> Settings --> More... (4th point under the heading Wireless & Networks) --> Mobile Networks --> Only 2G-Networks
If that switch is on, than obviously your phone won't connect to a 3G network
2.) Your not in range of a 3G network?
Apparently there is bootloop issue for the newly released MIUI ROM 2.3.23 over at MOD EDIT: Link removed.
My experience is that I got stuck at the splashscreen as well.
I have download another at MIUI main site : MOD EDIT: Link removed.
and it works OK. Some portions of the UI are with Chinese texts and a few Chinese apps but overall still OK.

The ROMs that I know of and that I've tried you find in the first post. I found the loader (=desktop) of the non-MIUI ROMs to be faster and snappier. (However, the MIUI is more feature-rich)
Okay thanks alot I think I'm gonna give MIUI a try. Downloaded the latest version from the MIUI website. Have you tried any CM Release?

Good job, and my respect is even bigger knowing that you are young fellow, non english native speaker...
Wish you enough will to continue and expand your little project, although i think your tests should last bit longer (for now it's more like first impressions).
And i don't think that Roms you pointed as non-working really don't work, people would mention about it...
Anyway, good job, once again

I said that dont work on my decive... This roms yes work but its more difficult to install them because you need to flas first the specifik stock rom that they're based and on my pc odin doesn't work (400 mhz and 128 mb of ram =) ) it's too old.
If you test them you can send to me your opinions and add them as working and tested roms.

then you must use a tempory CMW, and flash your rom to your phone
sorry for my bad english
The best form me is CM11 from TC, but in the new build you should checge minimal fraq to 200mH because of 100mH battery drain.
I'm using 4.4.4 from novafusion.pl. Very good, no problems with phone.
Great idea to have a central place for people to find ROMs. No doubt, CM is always a good choice but if you like pure Android I can also recommend this AOSP ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588054

Do these ROMs have the slight but constant micro-stuttering that the stock ROM has?
I guess all these ROMs are loaded with Google's stuff?
With the exception of Play Store I'd like to be free of the Google fleet of useless apps.

Yes, all of them. You can "freeze" or delete unwanted Google apps. Do it manually or try to find scripts which can do this automatically.
Hi, I was thinking to buy this tablet.
Can these ROMs fix the issue of too high brightness even at the lowest level?
If not can you recommend a free application to solve the problem?
Better this or teclast m89 pro? Thanks.

To solved this brightness issue I use the sFilter app or any other blue light filter app.
But to tell the truth, I wouldn't recommend to buy any Teclast tablet. I have a problem where he doesn't accept the installation of Instagram or Facebook app. I saw that many people have the same problem.
Anyone else with this problem or know how to solve?

It's possible to change brightness limits manually by editing firmware files, If there's a big problem for u and other users I can change its' range sometime. Just let me know what firmware u are using.
Hello dev!
Are you still working on this device firmware? I bought it this month and not even on official site could find updates for, so I don't know if there is any firmware that I should update before using these that you made...
I'm using Pixel Experience and found it great. But I had problems with the initial setup, which always had trouble trying to recover the configuration of another device. When I checked to set up as a new device it work fine.
I could not open Magisk too, but i wanted to disable it and remove, but always shows error when trying. I'll try MIUI in sequence to see if I can.
Another question: The modified Stock has gapps included? (and can I remove root?)
Thank you so much for your work, I was happy to know that have other firmware for this tablet.
PS.: sorry for the "google translator english", my english is poor. lol

1) There is no more firmwares to port for our device. Also I don't know much about modding firmwares, so Pixel was my first successful experiment.
2) Latest official firmware for our device is TOS v2.1 which can be found in appropriative thread here. Seems no more updates will be released for our device.
3) Restoring function is bad idea esp on custom ROM. You should always make clean installation.
4) Custom ROMs can only boot with root access (e.g. Magisk). You cant uninstall it. In other case your device wont boot (Android 7.0 classical issue). P.S Magisk is not like "classic" root, so you can "hide" it for apps that don't work on rooted device.
5) Of course stock ROM includes Gapps. All made changes are listed in topic. Root can'f be removed on any custom ROM (see p.4).

Thank you!
I gave the tablet to my son, the Stock ROM that came on it is'nt good and so I put the ASUS ZenUI ROM. (After testing all others)
I hide Magisk and the ROM is working perfectly.
Thank you so much for the great work.
Happy 2020.
