Sorry for the longest title in the world, but for the life of me I cannot seem to figure out how you can do this, and I'm beginning to think it's not possible.
When I receive an sms message, if the stock HTC sense android app is set to receive notifications, it will show the little sms envelope in the notification bar, which I like, but will also stream a preview of the message right next to it (and on the lockscreen I believe), which I hate.
Is there any way to get notifications from this app but not have it preview messages before I actually open up the message? Thanks.
Bump? Still can't seem to do this.

Control of notification bar
I too hate this feature. Obviously you did not get a response on this forum...did you find an answer elsewhere?
use Go SMS PRO its free on the market. It takes over the messaging application and controls whether you want a preview or popup.

Is there some nice fancy widget that shows me new SMS, missed calls and mails right on the Homescreen? Maybe even with a SMS, calltime and data counter? Like Homescree++.
I use:

Can i use my own icon with this? A grey letter if i got nothing and a glowing blue one if there is a new message? I guess in windows mobile everything was easier...
Did you even look at that page? It gives easy instructions on how to use your own icons.

Yea i looked..but it doenst seem this includes an icon for unread and one for read messages. Just one Icon with the coutner added.
With the stock launcher (tw launcher) the stock email program icon will overlay the number of new items. This does not happen in go launcher. How do i get the icon to show # of new messages?

I've since tried a few of the other launchers and found that notifications are lacking in them.
Does anyone know if there is a way to get any of the launchers to display notifications the same way as the default launcher? I like seeing the red number on the email icon.
Also is there a way to get the voicemail icon to display the number in any launcher including stock? I hate having to watch the notification bar for an increase in the number (up from 3) indicating that i need to drop the bar to see what additional notifications are available.

Have you tried the Go Notification plugin for Go Launcher. I don't use it, but it sounds like what you are looking for.
I hadnt. I'll have to give it a try as I did like go launcher a lot

The go launcher notification plug-in is what i'm lookin for except that it needs notifications for email, phone calls, voice mail... So disapointing.

Hi there,
there are a lot of SMS widgets in the Play Store but all of them seem to be much more complicated than what I want: I need a widget the only displays a preview of the text of a new message and only when there are new messages. I want no buttons to reply, not a list of threads, anything. Just the text. Does anyone know a widget like that? Preferably one where the look can be adjusted? And preferably free of course ;-)
TIA

I have been looking for something that will allow me to edit what my notifications say for privacy from nosy people. I found an app that was called "hide my text - invisible." This app was great for people who use their native SMS app for sending text messages. It allowed me to make my own notification if i receive a text from a certain person. Usually, the notification will scroll the contact's name, and some of the text. This app let me change the notification ticker, text, and the icon, so that if I got a text from a contact, I could change the ticker to read "unread emails." This app is great, however it doesn't work for 3rd party messaging apps, like google voice and text free. I do not have a messaging plan, so I have to use these 3rd party messaging apps. Is there any app, script, or mod that will allow me to have the same exact features of the "hide my text - invisible" app for my 3rd party apps?
My phone is rooted
I have a HTC Droid Incredible
It has a Jelly Bean Rom on it
Any help?
I was looking for help disabling the app badge notifications for non-Samsung devices. All the searching I have done seems to point at changing launchers. I would like to figure out how to modify the stock rom. What I have tried so far is using ROM Toolbox Pro to disable the 'NotificationBroadcastReceiver' in the 'Advanced Freeze' section on an app that has the app badge notification. The app badge notification went away for a few minutes and then came back. Any ideas/suggestions would be much appreciated!
NOTE: I was thinking I might have to edit some .smali files of the app in question. If so, I use APK Editor Pro to disassemble APK files right from my device.
What do you mean by 'app badge notifications'? Notifications in system bar, or, for example, the number of unread messages for some messenger app that appears on the desktop?

Click to collapse
The red bubble with the number that shows up on some app icons like Facebook, Messages, and even on folders if you have folders set up.
Hm, then I don't know either, my only option would be to change launcher as well.
I'm hoping there is a way to disable them by editing the smali code. I am learning smali now, seems similar to visual basic
