IS there another way to flash Galaxy GT-5800 besides ODIN?
Nop i dont think that there is any other way to flash firmware besides ODIN.
Also via Kies but you'll need official firmware...
If we have rooted our phone, can we still use kies to upgrade to froyo with the official release.

Yes, but you'd have to root again...

Guys you forgot the method of flashing via the USB in the recovery mode ? update.zip ? ring any bells?
I am not sure if there is an option to flash kernels and this stuff on the G3, the sgs does it using redbend, but i don't know anything how to do it and if the redbend binary needs to be on the phone, or just can be packed in the update.zip and executed from there. I guess Wed have to ask someone like supercurio or hardcore who use redbend on a daily basis...
fastboot can restore
http://android-dls.com/wiki/index.php?title=Fastboot
I think fastboot is not even present in the G3 like it is not in SGS. But maybe it is also possible to putt the heimdall project from SGS to the G3... heimdal works on windows Linux and mac
FASTBOOT have windows ver
and the i5801/00 the upload mode or donwload is same mode?
home + up vol+power is upload mode
home _ dl vol +power is download mode
but the i5801/00 Partitions name is not same, heimdall can not work on it
like fastboot flash boot boot.img, in i5801/00 maybe fastboot flash bml1 bml1.bak

heimdall is open source, and it uses loke the phone side of odin which is official samsung way to interact with bootloader. they had fastboot for i7500 and maybe also for i5700, but the i9000 and i guess also the 5800 (01) also dont sport this anymore.
have a look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875256 you could also talk to benjamin dobell who is the developer of heimdall... however, for linux users heimdall is the best bet.

Hallo,
I tried to install Darky's Rom and it failed.
After the install and reboot, my phone won't boot. It's stuck at the Galaxy S screen.
I can boot into download mode.
When I plug it in, the charging icon shows but isn't doing anything.
That's all I can tell...
Any ideas how I can fix this?

If you still have access to recoverymode 2e or clockworkmod, use this to flash a new ROM, for example a WIPE rom from http://romkitchen.org/.
If you can't get into recovery mode, use ODIN and download mode to flash a new rom. Use the search and stickies on how to do that .
Thanks...no recovery mode I'm afraid...
I'll try the romkitchen tip...

I'm afraid rom kitchen will ned recoverymode too.
Take a look at the SGS forums there is a guide somwhere on how to use odin to flash a new rom .
From there you should work towards recovery mode with clockworkmod and then you are basicly good to go for any rom.

You don't need adb to use odin, but you need working usb drivers.

You could try to flash the stock rom for your phone again. Search Google if there is a stock rom ftf file and flash it with Flashtool
Another possibility is check if you have installed the correct kernel for your custom rom and install both again.

Could you give details about your installation process? A jig could fix your problem or in other words it could boot your phone in download mode.
If your recovery is available flash a custom ROM with it.

i installed the rom under normal conditions. for your info i have done this plenty of times but this time i m clueless. i have ordered for a jig but is there any other way to get my phone back?? please suggest.
Have you tried to flash it with 'Flashtool'?
Have you installed the correct Kernel for your custom rom?
Another solution might be to look in the internet for 'wotan server' - here you could try to restore your phone but it will cost a little.
u could also try odin to flash your original formware
Other than the jig is there any way to start the mobile in download mode??
You could try going into flash mode then flash a new kernal or by going into fastboot mode to flash a new custom ROM in Flashtool.
But I think this only works with Xperia Phones.

You haven't tried everything. You have tried everything you know tho. If you had tried everything, there was no point asking.

Can you get into download mode and flash stock 5.1.1 from Sammobile?

Well it's a soft brick then.
If I can't help you, someone else definitely know the answer.
Try follow this. This is a guide to flash a custom rom, but well, you just follow the bootloader and modem part and AFTER that you flash stock 5.1.1.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60112855&postcount=3
You can't root on 5.1.1 tho. Not as of yet. Then you need a custom rom. But let's take that after your phone is fixed.
Do exactly as stated in the "guide". Flash modem + bootloader together and AFTERWARDS if it flash succesfully you flash 5.1.1 stock from Sammobile (you can't downgrade so 5.0.2 is not possible to flash anymore. It will fail.)
Just under the guide the bootloader and modem is for the difference models. Make sure to download the right one.
I will try it. I'm downloading the firmware right now (so slow)
Is there any way to turn off the phone? I hope it won0t suffer burn in effect because of the static image.

As long as you can get into download mode, it's just soft bricked. Try different PC's and USB ports. That have helped me more than once when getting stuck on Odin.
But what were you on when you tried to root? 5.0.2 or 5.1.1? Can't see why flashing stock firmware should fail. You sure you do everything right?

If you can acces Download, you can access recovery aswell. Hold down home button + volume down + power button until it starts a reboot. Once the screen go black, release all buttons and then fast volume up + homebutton + power button at the same time and there you go, you're in recovery.
The reason you think you can only get into download mode is because the same button combination that gets you into download mode restarts your phone.
So yes, try flash TWRP from Odin.

Well if you succesfully flash 5.1.1 your phone works again. No idea what's wrong with your Odin tho. Try delete all the Odin files and download it again (https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934555153).
I THINK you're on 5.1.1 bootloader and modem as I got the same error as you. I flashed 5.1.1 bootloader and modem and could not start phone before 5.1.1 firmware was flashed.
You COULD try follow this again STEP FOR STEP when re-downloaded Odin (and deleted all the old Odin files). http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60112855&postcount=3 REMEMBER to download the right version for your device. Like if you have SM-G920F it's JUST below the guide, else scroll further. Remember the bootloader and modem should be flashed at the SAME time and is not for the PDA slot. If it succesfully flash them, then try 5.1.1 stock firmware now.
But step for step the guide and be aware of those (DO NOT connect your phone before this step, otherwise it won't work!).
If you don't want to try that all over again (as I THINK you're on 5.1.1 bootloader and modem) you could try download download Odin again (as linked) and try different USB ports + PC's. If you try to flash bootloader + modem again, then try different PC's and USB ports too.
Wait wait guys... I just flashed a newer versione of twrp (
Why the hell i was flashing an older version??? ) and BOOM...it restarted and surprise...5.1.1 upgrade with my data and files (nothing touched and deleted).
I can't figure it out why root on 5.0.2 didn't work...
Finally i got it back working at least.
Thank you guys form you quick support and thank you Faspaiso for the help
Btw, root on 5.1.1 not already available?
Smells like reactivation lock.
I've tried everything that i could find using google. Nothing has worked so far.
My friend has a S6 that was on 5.1.1 with root. It didnt received OTA updates so he tried to flash the new Nougat rom using ODIN. Alas the phone softbricked.
I can access download mode, but doesn't matter what firmware i try ODIN always end up failing. It's either sboot.bin, cm.bin so i think it has something to do with the bootloader? I'm not sure.
Tried to use SmartSwitch too but after it downloads the firmware it gives me an error and says to enter safe mode (????) so that's not working either.
Has anyone have an ideia of what to try next?
Thanks in advance.

Its just not working... I have beendoing this all day... using Sp flash tool... I am now fed up.
My initial issue is that I chose option for 'Format all+Download' and it flashed well but I lost my IMEI... this should not be a problem I can re-write it using engineering mode Mobileuncle tools and other tools but they do not work on this rom... I think its because this is a moded rom so its not working, not even the engineering mode codes, I tried with fastboot, adb from computer... yes I can see my device but nothing else works.
Ok, let me just flash it all over with sp tool...all I get is the red bar, I dont get the Yellow one at all and even when i wait 5 minutes... nothing. I will keep trying then

Did you can try it with windows? Or try only Download and manually format it with the tab format.
or you use from another source but it should be the same https://docs.google.com/uc?id=0By4_z1Byo7UKYUh1Y1FQY3NrUjQ&export=download.
It is maybe a distro problem can you tell me which distro you are using?
I have it tested 10 minutes ago by me it works fine.
