Vote MT4g the Best HTC Device! - myTouch 4G General

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=860549
Everyone vote vote vote for the MT4G!!!

Ballot has been cast!

voted the best. But who knows what 6 months will bring in real life? Dual core supercharged phones etc.

This is pretty difficult for me to vote.
If I didn't get MT4, I should have voted nexus one, but now.....I don't know.

i vote for my MT4G out of all my android phones. granted each phone has its pros and cons but the MT4G imo has the least amount of cons

Looks like the leo is winning but remember, until 2 years ago this was an HTC site primarily around WinMo.
Voted MT4G.

I voted for the MT4G but soon as I saw Leo as a choice I figured it would probably be winning. Isn't that thing running Android, WP7, Windows Mobile 6.5, Ubuntu, and Windows 95. Can't compete with that.

voted.. best phone ive ever owned.. plus specs to defeat them all at this point

Don't blame me!!! I voted for the MyTouch HD.
Come on guys, we only have like 1.57% of the vote.

I love my MT4G. In my opinion, it's the best phone currently available in the U.S. Having said that, I had to extend my vote to the Desire HD. Although the MT4G has basically the same hardware specs as the Desire HD, the DHD's form factor is, in the immortal words of Fat Bastard, dead sexy. Let's not forget the Dolby/SRS virtual surround sound, genuine HTC Sense with htcsense.com sync, 4.3" display, and an 8 MP camera. If it was compatible with T-Mobile's U.S. 3G bands, I'd definitely get an unlocked version.

HD2 or Captivate....

Ok so I bought a Captivate day 1 when it was released and it is a great phone dont get me wrong. but after coming from htc devices where the pace of development is so much faster than this i feel like moving on to something different. I like my captivate but i dont LOVE it. i am on the verge of trading my captivate for an HTC HD2..... i just kinda wanna know what you guys think? thanks so much and please dont stone me for this.
If you feel limited only due to the current software features of the Captivate, I would recommend you stick around - it is taking some time but soon enough there will be loads of development based around the Captivate and other Galaxy S phone models. Whether it be custom ROMS or OTA updates.
However, if you're restricted due to the lower 5MP camera without flash or another hardware limitation you may want to switch devices while yours is still high in value.

LMAO, What's this guys problem? Steve is that you, in your beltless jeans and turtle neck??
On topic: The HD2 is nice, but the 1ghz Snapdragon is power hungry at 65nm and only delivers 35% of the graphics power of the 45nm Hummingbird (Easy to OC). The Captivates screen is better aswell (500,000:1 contrast!!!!), and it can support up to 50gigs over 32. (16 onboard, 32 Sd, and 2GB ROM = 50gb) I had the same choice to make, and The Galaxy S is a clear winner, unless you want winmo and android.

Hi, I think we have the same problem, but when I decide to buy the captivate I've already own a HTC HD2. I love all the specs listed on the samsung captivate (located on AT&T's web page), but when finally got the captivate on my hands I've just couldn't let go my HTC HD2. I order to get more Android friendly, long before I received my captivate, I start to use froyo on the HTC HD2, love how it feels, but when I need to work with my devices, it all comes down to switch back to WM (may be because my life is ruled by microsoft). It's so hard for me to leave behind my HTC HD 2, that I still uses both phones (siwchting between froyo 2.1, Froyo Stone Sence HTC HD2 and WM). Last night I've instaled the latest update to my Captivate and here I'm giving the last chance to my samsung device to be up to the challenge. by the end of the week i'll give you a finall decition.
It honestly depends on your usage. I understand one of the bigger things I've noticed from this article is that you are shooting for a 4.3 inch screen. If you are shooting for a large screen phone (for watching hours and hours of youtube and movies) maybe the HD2 is best for you.
I've owned a good chunk of smartphones from the Aria to the Streak, and I've got to tell you...there's not alot that beats the Captivate. I watched the Expendables (HD quality rip) on my Captivate, and since that day...I don't think other phones compare at this point in that aspect.
Keep in mind the SAMOLED screen, the Video via 3.5 mm jack, and the Gorilla Glass and make your decision .
Just know that from what i've seen in my time here, XDA is with you 100% on whatever choice you make.
Thanks everyone for you input. I love my captivate but i did trade it for an HD2 and i love my HD2 so far. the screen is awesome but most of all i love the insanely large amount of roms available for it!

[Q] Best android phone that I can buy

Hi Friends,
Recently I lost my Sony Xperia X10i. I'm in the process of claim insurance. Now my question to my friends here - Which android mobile I need to buy. I'm a big fan of Android .
I'm from India, so please suggest me that is available in India. My budget is up to 30K .
Thanks & Regards,
Naresh Kumar
I can say go for Samsung galaxy S Or HTC Desire HD Htc Desire HD Will be available during this month. I 've heard prices will be around 35K But Battery drain is the problem in HD I guess
Depends on what you are looking for.
Nexus S or Galaxy S will give you the best processing power, Galaxy S also has the super AMOLED screen. The HTC Desire Z is very overclockable, which can put it above the Galaxy S even, and has a slide-out keyboard.
HTC Desire HD also has a big screen with good construction and great software (HTC Sense...best software skin on Android).
If you want plain unmodified Android then wait for the Nexus S, which would be the only phone with Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
hTC all the way
Desire Z or Desire HD
HTC desire is a good choice.
I have HTC smart and am happy with its features and apps. I think HTC desire will be also best I had just deal with HTC and its first time I am using Android. you will get many best deals at this Christmas.
Good Luck!

i just switched yesterday from an iphone 4 to an HTC Droid Incredible. its, in my book, 1000x better than the iphone. yea it doesnt have the front facing camera like the Evo, but usin it on the iphone for facetime purely raped the battery life. hence why i went w/o. im still tinkering with it, like i did both my iphones, and i'll post a full review for those who wanna kno more about it (and if there isnt one already).
Motorola Milestone 2 is a good idea.. but i'd wait for Nexus S or lg star..
LG STAR HAS A TEGRA 1GHZ PROCESSOR.. but youll have to wait longer than nexus S for that

Yeah i came from a 3gs,iPhones are boring. You could probably get a Htc HD2 cheap and you can port android to it,there very good at running android, fast, stable, they even beat the Nexus one and desire at running it
IF you like options, get a cheap HD2 lol. It can run Wm 6.5, Android, and ubuntu and possibly even wp7. and the hardware is still good. Otherwise Desire HD sounds good but I highly recommend the HD2 for versatility
I will be changing my phone in June. Right now I have HTC Hero, and I just love it, it is by far the best phone I have ever owned. Can not stand Iphones.....
So my question, is whats on the horizon ???? like I say, it will be June 2011 when I upgrade, what should I be looking at ?
Thanks
Ian

30k INR is about 660 USD, right?
you could buy HTC Desire with that, I think..
or perhaps, just buy HTC HD2.. with cedesmith desireHD2 build, 2000 quadrant score is just a small number..
I've been with T-Mobile for around 7 years and have 7 lines. We have tried about every phone out there. One year we went through 103 phones. We have owned every myTouch phone, including the Fender but excluding the new one, almost all of the BlackBerry phones made, many nokia phones, motorola phones and of course countless htc phones (including the HD7, returned the next morning).
No matter what platform HANDS DOWN the Samsung Vibrant S (I guess that would include AT&Ts Galaxy S) is the best out there. My kids had the inexpensive samsung flip phones and they were great, but beyond the very low end Samsung I have never been really happy with their phones that were almost smart phones, more like frustrated because you could "almost" do what lets say the HTC phones could but your Samsung was always not set up for all the same apps, stuck with all kinds of just small bumps.
Just this weekend 3 people were deciding what phone to get and they are now all getting the Vibrant once there contract is up. I personally added a line just to get this phone. Now my Vibrant in rooted (never done that before) and is customized with BlackFroyo I got off here. Of course the 3 friends all want to do the same.
Samsung has all the technology, thank goodness T-Mobile got their hands on it!!! Buy it you won't be sorry.
get the nexus S, period

I must admit I would have agreed with you before I bought the Vibrant. We've been with T-Mobile for 7 years and have a total of 7 lines... I won't repeat what I already posted but have gone though over 103 phones (unfortunately, kids) in one year about 90% smart phones.
Samsung DID IT RIGHT with the VIBRANT!!!!
I love window based phones as well and REALLY lean towards HTC until now. Returned the HD7 within 14 hrs, maybe I'll try again once it's more established.
So I bought my first choice and everyone who sees it or uses it (it's rooted with BlackFroyo theme) has decided this is the phone they'll be getting.
What was so disappointing about the Galaxy S Series? The working phones we have right now are 2 myTouch slides, 1 myTouch G1, 1 myTouch Fender, partially broken Samsung Galaxy (I agree with you about this phone), 1 or 2 different BlackBerrys, but returned the HTC HD7 & HTC Pro Touch 2, & gave away the Slide to get this Vibrant and now I have 6 others under my roof who want me to buy them a Vibrant.
I know everyone has different opinions and needs but to imply that owners of the Galaxy S Series have less experience with SmartPhones than those who own HTC phones is just a little narrow minded. I did feel the way you did but it was the "NEWEST" HTC phone that pushed me to the Samsung. Reviews everywhere were overwhelming that if you were going to buy a T-Mobile phone get the Vibrant.
-nothing personal, it would just be nice if you would back your statements up with some facts because it sounds like you're talking about another Samsung
Buy HTC Desire Z its a great phone.

What is best for me may not be for you, said that, theres no such "best" phone.

Convince me not to buy a Thunderbolt… please...

(I have Verizon)
So I see that the Bionic is going to be dual core, better resolution etc. And it’s all over the internet that it appeared on Amazon for $149 for a few hours. So I would be an idiot to get the Thunderbolt now for $199 right? I mean even if I did want the thunderbolt I should wait for the Bionic because the TB’s price will go way, way down if the Bionic is $149..!
Anyone know when the Bionic will be out? I have seen post that it could be any time, others that it will be June...
A guy I work with has been looking for a new phone for at least a year now, constantly putting it off because there is something better around the corner.
Personally I really love Sense UI on my desire HD - it seems far better than motoblur, or any of the other UI overlays I've seen.
Yeah I know all about the putting it off thing. But these are big differences. The Thunderbolt is going to be like one of the last very top single core phones... Screw that.
If all phones are 2 or 3 months from all being dual core I want to wait.
Plus the Bionic has the bigger screen res and the dual core Nvidia CPU!
These are not little differences…

Since I posted it I have convinced myself even more! Lol
And I’m waiting for a post from someone saying I should wait for the Bionic too to make me feel better about it! lol
And unlike your friend I’m not waiting for “a better phone”… Its between the Thunderbolt and the Bionic only… I guess if the Galaxy S II came out I would think about it a little, but not much…
So it’s all about when the Bionic will come out and how much it will be when it does….
does seem very much like you've made up your mind
I seem to get burnt every time I stray from HTC. The big decider for me is actually holding one in my hands and playing with it - I've been all for a certain phone til I held it and thought "wow... feels a bit cruddy" hence why I have a Desire HD rather than a Galaxy S.

I go ATI or NVIDA, Intel or AMD, Motorola or HTC, who cares… I want best bang for the buck period.
That changes all the time and so I change what I buy all the time. I have never not been "burnt" a little by any brand... They all have their pros and cons...

I gotta agree with the HTC sentiment. You will be much better off with HTC than with Motorola or Samsung. HTC phones are just superb, in my opinion. I have an Inspire 4G (HTC Desire HD) as well as an HTC HD2 and I had an HTC HD7. All are and were (hardware wise for the HD2 and HD7) excellent and superbly reliable and well built. My Inspire is the friggin love of my gadget life. I have not ever owned a phone like the Inspire that ever impressed me as much as it has. The Thunderbolt is basically the exact same as the Inspire/Desire HD except with front facing camera and other stuff...the LTE radio, as well.
If I were going to Verizon, the Thunderbolt would be my no-thought, no-blink choice. The Bionic is pretty much Verizon's version if the Atrix from AT&T. It has had some issues and the UI isn't as smooth as Sense 2.0. Plus if you want to customize, Motorola isn't too keen on an open platform. The Bionic looks good in specs and appearance, but that only goes so far. At the end of the day, the Thunderbolt will keep impressing you.

Agreed... I'm not one for brand loyalty, they all seem to have their ups and downs. HTC is on a great roll currently, and still seem to have something to prove.
My last phone was a sony and it was a horiffic letdown, as was my wifes X10. Both were some of the best around on paper. Premium price, nice design, AWFUL build quality and rotten support.
The other big plus is HTC tend to keep updating their handsets - the old desire is still getting 'em! Most other companies tend to stop caring once they have your money.
HTC is the RollsRoyce of phones
Rumor has it when the bionic comes out, it will come with new data pricing for 4G. Possibly tiered and higher rates.
You don't want the thunderbolt because its basically a refresh of the EVO. Tbolt has a better screen, 2nd generation qualcomm, better camera, more memory pre installed, new kickstand design, louder speaker, and its 4G at 30 bucks unlimited. All these reasons are not enough to get the phone now. ........sarcasm.
Get your bionic and have motoblur ... Yuck. Plus the bionic is ugly phone. Your truly going to sacrifice everything just for a first generation dual core phone?! ........besides you want a dual core dual channel phone but that's another story.
So far the only reason anyone has given to get the Thunderbolt is because they think HTC is better than Motorola. That is not a valid reason.
Anything else?

Best GSM phone out there ATM.

I'm looking to replace my mytouch 3g. The g2x looks nice. I wanted to ask everyone what they think though. Its gotta be fast and easy to root etc etc. Any ideas? Maybe some links?

The HTC Sensation is coming soon and looks to be head and shoulders above the rest. Samsungs Galaxy S II is going to be a contender too, if you like that sort of thing.
the galaxy s2 is clearly going to rule the roost this year
HD2. To me it is the best deal I have ever made because out of all mobile phones, it can run WM6.5, Windows phone 7, meego, android, and ubuntu and I don't think any other phone on the current market can do that.

I wish I had an HD2
Right now? SGS2, no question. Only problem is getting one.
SGS2 is the clear winner for me. Great screen or even better than the sensation (if the sensation happens to have the same screen as the atrix 4g, then no doubt the sgs2 has a better screen), better battery, better camera is more likely, since HTC has never bothered with their cameras, or speakers/sound in fact. Processor/performance? Well that's hard, sense has never been iPhone smooth, but with a dual core 1.2ghz it could be. On the other hand we know the sgs 2 is iPhone smooth like. The 1gb ram is a plus but i'm sure, with the sensation you wont even use up all of the 700 whatever mb ram, well, unless sense doesn't clog up like 300+mb. For media hogs 16/32 gb versions, ya, pretty sure with another 32 gb card, you can fill your phone up with all the media you want. The sensation only comes with a measely 1gb...
Build quality? Well i'm pretty scared of the sgs2 battery cover, but i'm not gonna let that stop me from buying the best device out there. Personally i don't like the sensation's unibody design. It looks hard to take out and heavy, but some people think the heavier the more premium right?
Oh and last but not the least, maybe the greatest reason as to not, locked bootloader on sensation anyone?
Just my thoughts.
how about with the comming Sony Xperia Pro ?

[Q] What will HTC deliver after the Sensation this year? HD4 in Q4? Better than SGII?

Hi my question is:
Do you think that HTC will deliver another 'superphone' this year?
Thinking about Q4 2011? Maybe this phone will be better than the Samsung Galaxy SII ?
Maybe it will just be worth waiting!!
Because at the event in London when they presented the HTC Sensation they said more to come this year!!!!
Please leave your opinion here! Thankyou!
Dude relax!
The Sensation is already better than the SGS2, check the upgraded screen resolution...
I am already meditating haha
The point is: The specification is better in the Samsung Galaxy SII but the HTC sense UI is much more attractive and I own the HTC HD2, I really like the HTC's. To bad the specifications are not so good compaired with the SII.
HTC chose not to release the HTC Sensation at the conference in Barcelona this year but couple months later.
Maybe they will bring out the phone that can replace the HD2 ! Because the HTC HD2 was a real NO BRAINER... THE first with a 4.3 inch screen and the best phone for a full year, because the specs of new phones could not compete with the HTC HD2.

Dude, open your eyes! You have just pointed out the only advantage the Sensation has over the SGS2... And all in all, the SGS2 still has the better screen
Dude on a 4.3'' screen it's very important to have this new resolution whatever you have super extra modular amoled plus beta
Both have dual core cpu
Both have 8mp, even dual led for Sensation
Sense 3.0 beat the hell out of touchwiz
I don't care if there are 2% more speed in games lol.
Now I just hope HTC will let us root it and that they upgraded the loudspeaker
Don't get me wrong, I used to be a huge fan of HTC. I currently happily own one. I just think they've lost their touch and are not "innovative" anymore.
Sense 3.0 versus TouchWiz 4.0 is a matter of taste and even though both have dual core CPU and 8MP cameras, Samsung's are significantly better.
The screen may have an improved resolution, but being a pentile matrix it doesn't really make it outstanding. Plus the fact that it's a wider format (16/9) which means less lines of text when reading a web page in landscape mode.
Also the Samsung should have a way better battery life (thanks to the lower consumption screen and CPU).
The dual band Wifi on the Samsung is an interesting point for me as I have dual band routers, and the 5GHz band is faster. The Sensation is single band Wifi, bummer.
Out of the box, there's 16Gb of storage on the Samsung versus 1Gb on the HTC. The Samsung includes all sorts of codecs for audio and video, including mkv. Hello HTC, are we in 2011?
HSPA+ is 21Mbps for the Samsung versus 14.4Mbps for the HTC.
USB host is nowhere to be found in the HTC, is supported by the Samsung.
Audio output quality will be presumably better in the Samsung (wolfson chip).
Should I go on? I have only listed the advantages that are really quantifiables, not just "okay it's 2% faster"...
Sorry dude, HTC is no longer the leader of high-end smartphones it used to be...
So you don't believe HTC will launch a super hot phone in Q4 2011?
I really hope so! Although my plan is finished in August. I am still breaking my head which phone to take? HTC Sensation or the Samsung Galaxy SII.
At this moment I am wondering if there is better to come this year, Worth waiting...
Or should I make a choice? Don't forget I am still owning a HD2 with Android NAND.
Can't wait for both to come to the market and then hear what people say about the phones!!!
Samsung Galaxy S II is already out in UK mate, you can check feedbacks at GSII forums. From what first owners says, it seems perfect really. It's almost fishy as it ticks all boxes.
I have pre-ordered it and will get my hands on it in a week or so, I'll also give the HTC Sensation a shot on may 12th as I'm due to an upgrade so I might give you some feedbacks then
Well apparently there will be a better super hot phone in 2011, according to Eldar Murtazin (Mobile Review) the Samsung Galaxy S III should be released in autumn and is the mother of all phones (iPhone5 competitor).
Don't expect anything but minor improvements/variants from HTC this year as compared to the Sensation.
So if you're not in a hurry, wait for the Galaxy S III. Otherwise just get the Galaxy S II now (it's released in UK and South Korea, other countries to follow shortly)
Thanks for the info. HTC should be the one to bring out the follow up phone for the HD2. They not really did that yet and they know that HD2 was a big succes. The HD Desire is still oldskool. The next generation phones are all with dual core!! I must say: I really hope HTC brings news about some asesome phone coming this Q4 2011.
I really believe in this.
Samsung Galaxy II is already great... can't see III coming soon.
HTC is letting me down at the moment, My girlfriend has the galaxy s, I still prefere HTC though... what to do?

I think touchwizz 4.0 is not so cool as sense 3.0.
HTC is so good in simplicity. They bring their product and the phone is really made to suit you. See all the videos they made for HTC sensation!
HD2 is not a device like other, it's really a computer!
Do you know any phone that can dual boot wm7 and Android?
They could even put ios it wouldn't shock me
HD2 was originally dedicated for wm6.5 only, so if HTC want to launch an HD3 it will be officially for wm7.
I think you mean you want a replacement for the DHD
I want a super android phone!!!! But I don't think their will be better phones this year!
I still thinking, what should I do? My heart says buy the sensation but my brains say buy the SII.... So what to do?
well I think HTC "gave" us the phones for this year.. maybe in the end they will have something new, but what'll be better? maybe 1GB Ram and w/e.. I mean, even the heaviest games to Android dont really need 1GB to work really good.. just keep your phone clean and 768MB and great Sense will do the work.
Also in my opinion, the SGS II is ugly compared to HTC . (Some of the phones of HTC.. like the Desire and Sensation).
I agree for the design, the sgs2 is a pale copy of the old iphone while HTC have their own design and more specially I love the rubber feel at the back
The pro and the cons... between the 2: Samsung wins.
But I just have to wait to see what people say about those phones!
I think I would still go for the HTC Sensation, but if I don't like the design in real life well then it will be the SII.
Htc France did confirm that an Gsm version of the Evo 3d would be available but gave no dates. Hopefully it will arrive Q4! Fingers crossed

As I said earlier you can check feedback about GSII from now. For Sense UI it is better than touchwizz and if it is the only thing that makes you do a compromise when considering the GSII then well a little birdie told me that there may be a solution to fix that... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzhtziHD7IY (it is an alpha and it is already running smoother than any HTC to date because of the better hardware of the GS)
SII still beats the EVO 3D. So it suppose to be a new phone from HTC. I need a leak!! Hahaha somewhere it must be clear what kind of phone they will bring out in Q4 2011.
