Can we transplant our drivers from CM6.1 to get what we need working? Seems liked that worked before when starting out with new versions.
I will try immediatley and give first impressions ASAP
Sweet! I only knew it would be a matter of time before somebody got the SDK running. All pass for now though, I kinda need to use my phone as a phone.
And for everybody saying GPL, aosp doesn't even had the source code right now, only Google does lol, it hasn't been made public yet lmao.
Keep up the good work aosp!
soo cool!

BTW, the [GPL] is for kernel source being listed in the OP. Lets moderators know that the OP isn't meddling with unreleased kernel source code.

You'd have to query him about it. This gingerbread ROM is based on the sdk image. It's just the system.img unyaffed with proprietary/hardware libraries added. You can ask him about getting his vendor/device tree for aosp though.

Yea that is what I was getting at! Anyway, getting off topic. I didn't know we didn't have source yet for 2.3, I thought it was both. +1 reading and comprehension fail.
Everything booted up great after a couple of tries!!.
Tried flashing the rom and then the gapps, a no go. Tried again the same way, nothing, just stayed on the android screen.
Then I flashed the rom and booted up, success
Then flashed the gapps in recovery and booted up, success
Signed into google account
I guess I'll give it a try

Yea you can also emulate your own phone by dumping a nandroid backup in there. Pretty cool for sheer geek thrills but ultimately not very useful.
No Linux love at all in any tutorial/hack/mod/program/anything. I will figure it out I guess.

I have done a nandroid backup and ran it on the emulator just fine. Can't use one that pushes the apps to ext partition unless you find a way to make a multi-partition img to use as SD.

Search the forum for the HTC WWE update that came out a while back. Someone posted a link to it here before roms were modded from it. Not the Newest one out, but it has sense/touchflow/rosie or whatever they feel like calling it this week. Or do like others said and do a nandroid backup while running a hero rom.

Detailed intruction on setting up the SDK for ubuntu linux are on this forum. Try skimming through the first 2-5 pages of the dream development section. If you have the SDK setup it works just like under windows. it's even easier if you install eclipse and the android plugins. They you even get a gui to set up your virtual android devices. Once you have one setup, simply type "emulator (device name)" in terminal and it will load up. Read the documentation that comes with the sdk or at developer.android.com.
Pretty cool for sheer geek thrills but ultimately not very useful.

I must beg to differ. It's quite useful for testing purposes. It leaves your phone free to do it's job while allowing you to still test apps and roms during development. I would much rather abuse the emu than my physical devices while getting bugs worked out.

AFAIK, you need to compile the code for emulator.
Description:
I spent much time learning C to realize that.
Currently, only the UI works and the features needs to be reintegrated.
The goal is to get a bootmenu with an better and (in future) touch operated UI.
Everything is Android4-oriented and this fits the needs of a bootmenu really good!
Currently I have problems with the font which doesn't looks very well.
Maybe someone which has knowledge with bitmap-fonts can help me with this problem
Changelog:
Code:
[B]2012-06-18:[/B]
- initial release
Download:
You can Download touchbootmenu in combination with multiboot from here:

m11kkaa!!
as long as it's bug free and it does what it does, I don't think anyone would complain about the fonts!
can you post the zips so we could test it?
As I already wrote in the OP it's not ready for usage yet.
It's just the UI which works. I'll keep you updated.
Definitely going in a very good direction..
Touch Recovery; touch bootmenu its amazing whats going on here!
Just want to let you know, that there's still much progress with this project
Touch is working and the future-plans are that this mod will replace multiboot completely.
Here is the github-repo: https://github.com/M1cha/android_external_bootmenu
Thanks for sharing. I assume the bootmenu can not be compiled without a cyanogen branch (e.g. Quarx's or Epsylon3's CM7/9 branch). Am I right?
That's right but maybe I can make a flashable zip which let's you start new bootmenu via 2nd-boot/2nd-system just for testing/preview-purposes.
But this would kill multiboot.
That will be perfect. I will gladly test it. Atm I don't have enough space to download and compile the entire cm repository.

WooHoo!!! I going to compile a build later with this after i finish trying to port gummy rom ..... M11kkaa Thanks for your work and making this possible luckily i don't use multiboot since i don't have enough memory on my SD card
So, here it is. A precompiled test-version of the new bootmenu.
It updates your bootmenu(to 1.8.8) and installs TouchBootmenu as 2nd-System.
The update-package is based on the one from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24573782&postcount=605
Happy testing!
PS: added new Screenshot to first post
ive the commit rights for bootmenu cyanogenmod branch, and only the defy officially use it in cm devices.... some others unofficially (moto devices only i think)
I will check your commits to see if i can merge them

FTW!!! lol
Before everyone asks the rom is only going to flyers00 for testing and one member of the exhilarate forum to see how much it works for them and that way i can modify the source accordingly when building cm9 for both phones ...saves me the hassle...other than that im not looking for testers sorry...just informing that when we get official tmobile source i have a kernel that will work for cm9 and it's variations . Plus to be honest having source is easier to update cm9 bug fixes they do and i will make it available for anyone who wants to help me out or that wants to build your own cm9 from my source i will give you step by step procedure ;D
So yesterday I was talking about it in #teamfah-q to dwitherell and 2vivid about a test kernel using the ics kernel source from i577
but use the rom of the s2 to test the kernel to see if it'll boot cm9 for us and after hours of hard work(most of it was to look for a place to download and play with the source lol) i got a rom made and thanks to the amazing flyers00(teammate and friend) he tested my rom and bam cm9 booted...with two issues the wifi wasn't working(my fault didn't include the module should work now though) and the camera because the s2 uses different drivers so...even though this cm9 is fully working except for camera i'm hesistant on releasing it because of the camera and would rather build it from source using the blaze proprietary things and have a working camera....
anywho here are some screenies of cm9 provided by mr flyers00 himself...
Btw anak1n is my computer name lol that's why it says that in my kernels
This is great. been waiting for something vanilla. Hope you post something. Great job!

I know that with cm7 people were against using it cause of the camera (me being one of em)... but I don't care about the cam anymore... I want it I do however use wifi calling all of the time which is why I'm not using the currently released ics.
If you need a tester or anything I would like to help out.
