UPDATE: The MyTouch 3G, and the Droid eris use the same connecting port (right?) so just go grab yourself a MyTouch dock

Ok so almost all android phones have a dock, except the Droid Eris, so I am proposing an idea that anybody may try at their will and see wether or not it works. So Google just released the Nexus One dock since it has no actual port in the bottom of it, what i am suggesting is cutting a hole in the bottom of the dock, and glueing the USB plug (the side with the the plug that goes into the phone) in to tht whole you've already cut. Go ahead and try this, and tell me if this works out, and hey maybe you could even make a business doing this!

Are you suggesting that someone pay for a Nexus One dock, drill a hole in it, and poke a USB cord through it? That would just break the docks functionality, plus all it is doing is providing a way to play music and charge the phone. I could go on, but I'm going to be nice.
Pick up an A2DP clip with 1/8" audio-out, plug it into some desk speakers and buy a USB charger. You might need to get a USB mini cable as well, for data/charging if you don't have one already. By the time you finish paying for all of that, you'll have spent $30-$40 and you'd have the capabilities of the dock without ruining one you can't use. You will also have a home charger which will delegate your original to travel/work duty.

old thread but I have the first one you listed. Works great. I have the back door cover from verizon and it fits in the charger without removing it.
I know people have modded the standard dock to provide a single full size USB port but what about a four port hub? Is there room in the plastic casing? It's hard to tell from photos.
Also HDMI pass through would be good to include.
The day after my G2X arrived I went to the t-mo store and bought a dock for it.
I also bought the speck case. about four days later I tried to use the dock and realized it didn't fir with the case, not unexpected. I just wanted it to charge and display the clock while at my desk, all was fine.
Well I've since gone mad with the fever and realized yet another flaw with the Dock. When connected via USB to my PC, the dock only runs in usb 1.1 and not USB 2.0 mode. The phone can be connected directly to the same cable as the dock uses and it works fine, but when the dock is involved it drops to 1.1 speeds. Does this happen for anyone else? Tried front and rear ports and several different USB cables I have laying around. Also tested from a Gigabyte Dual quad motherboard that is known for having "Hot" usb ports and it has the same issues so It doesn't seem to be a power issue.
Is it just a bad dock, or is this as designed?
Hi guys.
Earlier this morning. My HTC is not charging. I've check the micro-usb port and it appears that there is a problem in the port because there is a brocken pin. I've tried to re-align it and out of luck, the pin broke. I am wondering if it is difficult to replace the micro USB battery port of the HTC sensation. I saw a post on incredible S section and it's easy to replace it as the USB port is just connected on the board via ribbon. Have anyone have encountered the same issue. Worse case scenario is I will need to have the usb port be remove on the phone and replace by a new one, but I am not good on soldering stuff and I might mess the phone big time. I hope someone can reply thanks.

At ifixit you can see a picture, that shows, that the port is soldered to the board.
I think it will be hard to solder a new one to it, since the pins are very tiny. Maybe you can find a replacement board on ebay?
Hello all,
I bought a longer replacement charging cable (non official) for the Tablet/Keyboard. Plugged it into the Keyboard and charged fine. The issue was taking the b*gger out. I gently tried to ease it out. No dice. A little more force caused it to break into 2 leaving the main part of the cable still stuck in the Keyboard charging port. I had to remove it by using needle-nosed pliers.
Now it's out my original charging cable will not properly fit in and I can hear a very faint clicking from the keyboard and the orange light flashes but no charge.. The original cable fits perfectly into the tablet.
I am assuming that I have knackered the keyboard charging port and may need to replace it.
So my 2 questions are:
1. What is the exact part number I need for the charging port for the keyboard it i need to replace?
2. Could there be a work around for this? (which i doubt)?
Many thanks in advance for advice offered.
Best wishes
