How do I flash the optional themes for Warm TwoPointTwo!? :( - EVO 4G Themes and Apps

Hey guys, again, I'm slightly new at this stuff. I'm easing my way in though!
Anyways, I'm running Warm TwoPointTwo and I'm trying to get the alternative Boot Animation, Upright Battery in Taskbar and Darkstar/Coconut Font installed. SO! Here's what I've tried:
Going to the Warm Updater app on the ROM itself, downloading the files from there, and then clicking "Apply" and hitting "OK" to launch it into Recovery. Well, it never makes it to recovery and it just sits on a blank screen with an android fella and a caution symbol. SO, since that doesn't work for any of them, I try and go into Recovery manually, which is by holding down the Volume Down button and Power button.
Once I get into recovery from there, I select Install flash from SD card or something, then go to the files and I'll try to flash the .zip files and it will show the progress bar for about half a second, then throw me back to the main recovery screen everytime.
So the the heck am I doing wrong?
My next idea is to go through ROM Manager and select "Install ROM from SD Card" since Warm TwoPointTwo's instructions say to flash them like you would a normal ROM, aaand thats how'd I do it sooo, yeah.
I know its a pain in the ass to read all that, I just tried to give you guys as best description as I could. Thanks for taking the time out if you are helping me out, much obliged.

Yeah, I didn't read your first post all the way through. Sorry

when you flash things from recovery it's probably working. Once you update something it'll take awhile for the phone to boot...I'd do one thing at a time though. Also, if you flash the bootanimation, is it showing the new one when you boot up?

Need help! Stuck at booting screen with HTC logo

I need help. I am a beginner. I recently rooted my phone and installed Android Revolution 4G, S-off, and everything, then flashed the power notification widget for my phone thru the recovery menu from ROM manager by selecting the zip file. It installed successfully, but when I rebooted the phone, my phone is stuck at the white screen with the HTC logo. Please help. I am able to get into recovery menu after pressing vol down button and power button at the same time when the phone is off. What do I do now? Thanks.
stuck at boot logo
Hey i just had this problem today, and i found a solution.
first press vol down and power button to get into recovery. at first you may not be able to scroll down, wait a couple secs. then scroll down to recovery then push the power button to select. the screen will flash the boot screen then go into clock work mod. now scroll to apply zip from sd card and bush power. scroll to restore then push power. now select choose zip from sd card. then navigate to the rom from clockworkmod -> download/ ->coredroidroms.com/ ->roms/ ->desire_HD/ -> release under this, i had 2 choices, the only difference between them was that 1 said update patch. you want to select the one that ends in .zip NOT THE UPDATE! follow through the process and your phone will be bootable now.
sorry forgot to mention that your case may vary a little depending on what rom you have and the location of it on the sd card. but follow the same general guide lines and you should be in good shape
This happen to me when restore a nanbackup with revolution on it, stuck in blank htc screen, so restore other nanbackup with CM7 and it work's so i don't really know what happen here.
Later change it to RCMiXHD successfully.
I am going to say this because it seems people forget. Before adding anything you flash through the recovery menu, BACKUP!!! I put in a power notifications thing also and my phone just kept rebooting over and over again. But I had made a backup just before doing this, went to recovery and restored my backup. Was right back where I started. (By the way, when I was on my captivate, I didn't follow this rule myself and lived to regret it, had to spend a day and a half getting everything mostly back to where I had it, very sad)
That being said, if you have your ROM on the SD card in your phone you can just reinstall that and it should fix the messed up system image. Depending on the system you should be good with just that, some ROMs will wipe when they are installed though so you may have to reinitialize your applications. If your ROM image isn't on the SD you could download it to your computer and put it on the SD card then install from SD in the recovery options.
Good luck, there are folks online that may be able to help as well, there is an IRC channel mentioned in the root thread and people are there often.

[Q] First-Time Root Attempt; Now Stuck on LG Screen (Mac)

Greetings:
Today, I thought I'd make an attempt to root my phone and put on Cyanogenmod 7 on it. Right now, the screen is stuck with the LG logo and a blue glow next to the logo. I have to do a battery pull to kill it.
I've done the following, all on OS X:
1. Installed the Android SDK and did the "adb devices" command; it was found; also, enabled USB debugging.
2. Loaded flash recovery using Clockworkmod via the VirtualBox instructions on XDA (flash-clockworkmod-recovery.sh).
3. Used Clockworkmod to install the CM7 zip (did the required wipes).
I have conflicting instructions where one mentioned that the reboot after the CM 7 install was supposed to be automatic, and another that said do it manually. I had to go the manual route because when I chose reboot, the screen went black but did not boot up. I had to manually turn on the phone, but I'm not getting any farther than the LG screen.
I know something went amok; I'm hoping that it's just a small thing I might be missing. Please advise.
Thanks!
Velanche
Did you do a full wipe in clockworkmod recovery before flashing CM7? If not go back into clockwork recovery and wipe all user data. Do it a couple of times for good measure. Go under advanced and also wipe dalvik cache. Then also under advanced select fix permissions. Now reboot and be patient. It may take several minutes to boot up the first time.
Thanks a lot for the reply!
I've done the above. But I have a question about the reboot. When I've chosen it in clockworkmod, the screen went black. I take it that means that it's not working correctly? I can do a battery pull and try again in a few minutes to see if it'll work, too.

Mine does that sometimes too -- doesn't actually reboot even though I select reboot. Its like it just shuts down instead. I just power the phone back on like normal and wait for it to boot up all the way.
Well it's been about 10 minutes since I've powered up the phone, and other than that faint navy blue glow next to the circle of the icon, I'm not sure if anything is happening. For sure, I didn't see the blue horizontal progress bar at all.
Should I try the whole process again, or is there something else I should check on beforehand?

My next step would be to just try flashing again: Wipe all user data, wipe dalvik cache, flash CM7, flash the latest gapps if u want, fix permissions, and then reboot.
I tried the above; still no change.
I have a feeling I'm missing something, but don't know at the moment how to work backwards.
Yea it should work. Not sure why its not. If you can boot into recovery, wipe, flash the CM7 zip, reboot, that really should be it. Works every time for me. Maybe your download is corrupt and needs to be downloaded again? I'm just making a guess.
How long did you end up waiting once you rebooted and were stuck with the LG logo? Did it ever get to the CM7 logo with the blue/cyan android on the skateboard?
I tried once more. This time though, I may have hit a major snag. I'm unable to start up my phone, at all. I tried powering it with the adapter, and I tried charing the battery. I press the power button, and I press both the power and vol down buttons...I think it's been bricked. I'm at a standstill, at this stage.
My phone's not dead, after all. Somehow, it came back to life.
1. I can boot into clockworkmod via the top power/side vol down combo that gets me the Android splash screen before the amber text.
2. After following your instructions and suggestions, I have to battery pull and power on to get the LG screen. To answer your question, once I power on the LG logo flashes after a few seconds, then reappears and stops. I'd waited as long as 10 minutes before pulling the battery.
3. No sign of the CM7 logo.
Hope this helps. BTW, I wouldn't know how to get my g2x to be recognized on my computer, except for using clockworkmod to mount the SD card.
Thanks!
V.

[Q] Is Infuse(current version) installing or is Phone Bricked???

I am def a newB and have taken the plunge into custom roms. I followed the directions to installing Infuse with modded 3e recovery and cwm going to rom mgr and doing the download and now my phone is just displaying "SAMSUNG" across screen its been about 10 minutes. Question is, is the rom installing or is the phone bricked and what are the signs of a brick? How would long does a wiped Infuse download usally take?
It shouldn't take that long
infuse 4g "a lot a screen real estate"
So how would i know if the phone is bricked???

take battery out and try turning it on again after putting it back in. if it starts booting and you get the lady talking, your good, but if it just sits there, you most likely have a brick.
No worries though. Just follow these steps to get back to stock and your golden:
Ultimate Unbrick Thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116251
once your back to stock you can flash the community kernel via odin:
Community kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1119598
Once this is done, your rooted (just need to download superuser from market), and you have been lagfixed(with the lady talking on boot) and you have CWM to flash roms easily (accessible via: turning phone off, holding down volume buttons, press power till you see samsung logo, then keep holding volume buttons till red text comes up)
Then you should be back to the game
I really appreciated my heart is racing right now with uncertainty. I havent done what u mentioned but i did hold the power button and volume keys and now I do have access to a red menu that says ClockworkMod recovery v2.5.1.3 - Voodoo lagfix. does this mean anything???

the update.zip wont do anything. there's nothing to flash...
Another thing you can try is to flash the rom again, since you have access to red CWM... then if that doesnt work, follow the unbrick procedure
May be dumb question but how do i flash rom from red screen(link???) thanks
Assuming you have the zip for the ROM installed to your internal SD (CWM can't find stuff on the external SD unfortunately...)
Use VolUp/VolDown to navigate through CWM.
Wipe Data/Factory Reset should always be done when changing from one ROM to another. Usually not needed when updating a ROM from a previous version of the same one.
Then choose "Install zip from sdcard" then "Choose zip from sdcard" and navigate to the zip for the ROM.
However if Voodoo Lagfix is interacting strangely with your phone, other steps may be needed.
Good news is that if you can get into CWM, at least your kernel is in decent shape.
For whatever reason I never heard the lady speaking when I installed my ROM, although I may have gone into the other room and done something else.
Well for some reason I cant go to the page with the GTG unbrick download which sucks idk maybe u can email me the zip file [email protected] if not I guess i'll be back once I get home and try to figure this thing out. smh phone down
Thanks Entrophy512 I will give this a try and get back w the results
Entrophy512 followed your directions screen is displaying SAMSUNG you have any idea about how long the phone should be in this state???
Not long
5 minutes ish
is the lady talking??
well yea mine is stuck on that screen for well over 15 mins. guess i have to start at square 1. Does anybody know what this means???

Install TiBu from the market.
Restore user apps + data - don't restore system data. You may in that case still need to put in the info for your Google account, etc and tweak some settings.
Ok im finally up and running. Question what is the proper way to turn the device completely off. I tried yesterday and I see I have an extended power off menu with various options. What do they mean? Yest I chose turn phone off and the phone went to the downloading screen with the big yellow android w the shovel. Again thanks to you all.

Stuck on HTC screen, flashed wrong radio? Pls pls can you help.

Hey guys,
ok, so I flashed an incorrect radio onto my phone (i think) I was running CM7 and flashed a new radio to try and fix the GPS and now it's stuck on the white HTC screen. I cannot boot into recovery because all I get is Hboot and no option to run a restore.
I put the SD card into another phone and downloaded the correct radio, rebooted to recovery and ran the update, but it still gets stuck on the white HTC screen.
Im in a bit of a panic here please can someone help me.
Sorry I know im not the first guy whos done this and im sure you gusy get sick of people asking for help but im really desperate here.
Many thanks,
Adam
We have all had that feeling ^^
Do this:
1. - Open the back cover
2. - Remove the SD Card
3. - Pull the battery out for 5 secs and put it back in
4. - Put the cover back on
5. - Press Vol Down and Power at the same time. Keep holding on Vol Down till you get in bootloader
6. - Select Recovery
7. - Wipe Cache
8. - Put your SD Card back in
9. - Reboot phone and its all working again. Yey.
It was in the thread
Thanks for the quick reply, I'll give that a shot and see how I get on, really appreciate the support.
Adam
flashing radio
I wouldn't have flashed a radio unless I absolutely had to if you can boot into recovery and you have a backup of your original radio and do a full wipe and do a clean install if you still have all your zip files in recovery see this why the dev's tell you don't mess with the radio your going to have this pushed from a pc good luck
There's nothing wrong with flashing a radio. It's a very simple procedure and shouldn't cause any problems if done properly.
Hey guys,
Just to let you know popping the SD card let me get into recovery and fix the problem.
As you can see from my sig it's been a loooong time since I played around with Android and I probably mis-read (didn't read) something.
You have my very humble thanks.

does anyone know exactly why sometimes flashing a radio does this? is it cause they didnt clear cache? im jus wondering so i can avoid this issue alll togetherrr
i tried the instructions in post#2 and it worked, thanks so much i was freaking out too lol. just goes to show how little i know. just an edit though, i had to pull my sd car out, boot into the bootloader, then install the sd card back in and reboot into recovery, then i got a bunch of errors about mounting so i ignored that and then just did the wipe cash and rebooted. then it came back to life! i thank you guys

[Q] Atrix 2 won't boot past "M" Motorola logo

Hey guys,
Forgive me for being frantic and (probably) not taking the steps needed to research this issue, or not taking the time to do so, but I'm sure you can all presumably imagine -if you've not been in this situation before- that it SUCKS not having a phone in this day in age...
My problem: Atrix 2 (Rooted + CWM Recovery) now won't boot passed the "M" Motorola logo upon start up. It won't even allow me to access the factory Android Recovery by holding down Volume Up, Volume Down, and Power. I think I inadvertently bricked the phone? (Hope not!)
Further, the "M" Motorola logo is skewed in appearance, like its not even loading correctly. I'm not sure what to do. This is my first time rooting and getting experienced with custom ROMS.
Anyone able to help this helpless sap?
Thanks is advance to your replies...
Step 1 is where you tell what you did to get into the state you are in. You wouldn't believe how far it goes toward fixing something if you know how it got broken.

If you have CWM recovery on boot can't you just do a battery pull? You do NOT want to let that thing bootloop forever until the battery dies.
The End.

Agreed pull the battery. If you run out of juice you'll be in some serious trouble.
Did you try to flash the fkz? Unless you have CWM on Boot it's the only way you can get your phone working.
Okay, sorry for not giving a full rundown on what stupidity on my part cause all of this. Let me start by saying that (sadly) I am a great big n00b when it comes to Linux, and I thought that despite my research online I would sort of explore the CWM Recovery 'Advanced' sections.
I downloaded ROM Toolbox from the Play Store, and installed a custom boot animation, and replaced -or thought I was- the startup "M" logo with something else. This is what concerned me: After re-booting, the "M" logo was all crazy looking, with a "stretched" "M" logo over the top of the "regular" logo.
So, I uninstalled the app, but the logo was still all messed up. So, I used Root Uninstaller to get rid of the ROM Toolbox files, still no resolve to the crazy boot logo.
So, I went into CWM Recovery Advanced, and wiped everything. The Dalvik, cache, System, Data, etc... didn't think that it would -what appears to have happened- wipe out the OS on the phone.
I tried pulling the battery, and re-booting, won't boot passed the skewed "M" logo still. Tried getting into Android Recovery, and it looks to go through the recovery goes through its thing, but never boots normally afterward.
Sorry for being such an idiot, I really shouldn't have messed with this while half asleep, and again I can't apologize enough for being such a stupid n00b.
I can attach an image of the boot logo if that helps, but I'm worried I am just S.O.L. at this point...
Also, not sure what an FKZ is. I tried to install a 2.3.6 apk file to my wife's SD card on her phone and booting from the file after putting the SD card into mine. Still nothing.
pull the battery, put it back in, and hold vol up and down while turning on. choose ap fastboot at the menu. go to the thread in my signature and under the mirrors there is also a download of the return to stock script. run it while in fastboot and plugged in with usb. DO NOT pull the chord until it is done. when it is you should be good.

Yeah wiping the system partition is a no no unless you flash another rom afterwards. Do like ikrasner says and you should be back to normal.

Thanks for all the help guys, I really hope that something positive comes about this... though, to go without mention, I certainly need more knowledge on WTH I am doing to my phone: understanding flashing ROMS, what dangers come with rooting, and a vast array of other "all things root" that I need to learn up on.
I will try to install from SD card the 2.3.5 zip tonight, but will it (the phone) look for the newest 2.3.6 OTA update and try to ask me to install? How does that work after rooting, will I re-brick my clearly bricked phone all over again?
As always, thanks for all your replies in advance -you guys really know what's going on here!

Maybe I can solve your question, but poor of my english.

It should ask you to install 2.3.6. Just go into setting>about phone>check for updates. Or you could go and install one of the roms that are based on 2.3.6 such as Lithium Sonya or SCv5.
Okay gang, perhaps I'm just certifiably dumb, or I am simply just not doing this correctly. I downloaded the "Returntostock2.3.5.script" zip file and copied it to my wife's SD card to 'apply update from sdcard' option from the Android Recovery area by holding Vol Up, Vol Down, & Power buttons. What I got was this:
--Install /sdcard ...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
I tried to just plug the USB into the phone and run the 2.3.5. script from there. but again- I'm stuck in the crazy skewed "M" logo startup screen with nothing following. That's all the phone will do at this point, other than my getting into Android Recovery.
I'm not sure how or what fastboot is, or how it works. If the phone is plugged into the USB, it will only boot the stupid screwed up "M" logo screen. Noting else.

do not flash this. unzip it on your computer, choose to boot into fast boot in the same place you chose recovery, then run the .bat file that was in the zip.

What that file does is reflash your system.img, basically restoring your phone to factory default. And just as a sidenote you cannot flash things with the standard Android Recovery. You need CWM.
did you try apboot mode and ise fastboot to flash system.img ?

Before using the restore script you need to install the usb drivers for your mb865, you can get those from here: http://www.motorola.com/staticfiles/Support/Experiences/Global_Drivers/MotoHelper_2.1.40_Driver_5.5.0.exe
Next unzip the Return to Stock 2.3.5 Fastboot SCRIPT.zip to anywhere you like in your pc (example: C:\RestoreScript\ )
Next connect your phone with the usb cable to the pc and get into fastboot mode for this in your phone press volume down + volume up + power it should appear a screen with some options, use the volume down key of your phone to navigate through the menu until you see the Fastboot option, then enter by pressing the volume up key, this will show you some messages and the finally it should said usb connected.
Then open the folder where you extracted the Return to Stock 2.3.5 Fastboot SCRIPT files and search a .bat file call "Stock Restore" then run the file (double click on it) and it should open a command promt screen with some instructions if the phone is connected correctly and you installed the drivers correctly then in some point the screen will show you the id of your device and it will wait you to press the enter key to start the proccess, press key enter wait all the proccess until the program said to you its finished, after that it will reboot your phone and install the stock 2.3.5 when it boots up you should see the android logo and a progress bar filling up.
when it's done wait the reboot and your phone should be ok.

Then open the folder where you extracted the Return to Stock 2.3.5 Fastboot SCRIPT files and search a .bat file call "Stock Restore" then run the file (double click on it) and it should open a command promt screen with some instructions if the phone is connected correctly and you installed the drivers correctly then in some point the screen will show you the id of your device and it will wait you to press the enter key to start the proccess, press key enter wait all the proccess until the program said to you its finished, after that it will reboot your phone and install the stock 2.3.5 when it boots up you should see the android logo and a progress bar filling up.
when it's done wait the reboot and your phone should be ok.
hope this helps.

jfrank1485,
This stepped me through the entire process without any confusion! Everything is back to normal! Hooray and three Huzzahs!
Also, many many thanks to dickluo, farshad525hou, lkrasner, mtnlion, and KEB64!
You guys really saved my stupid (you know what) on this deal! Next order of business: figure out what the heck I am doing before doing ANYTHING!
Problem solved, my world has regained sanity, and my phone is back to life!
You guys are the best, thank you all so much!!!
