I know alot of people have been asking about this, so is there a definite answer? Is there a rom that will allow sense Weather Wigdet (home) to go in landscape mode? I would also like to know if there is word on an upcoming Desire Z rom which will allow that. No, I dont have time to check every thread in this GIGANTIC forum and I'm just asking a simple question. While I don't know much about sense, couldn't you simply drop the HTC Launcher homescreen app in the apps folder and delete your current one? I mean you already have all the HTC Sense trimmings so everything else should be there

This is an age old topic for any sense/hero ROM. HTC widgets only work on HTC's framework so you can't just use their widgets on any ROM.
I seen a long time ago someone mentioned that there is a wrapper around the widgets and possibly there might be a way to remove the wrapper to make it work on different builds but dont know if its true or how hard

This would be awesom...
If you want Sense widgets you need a Sense ROM.
There are plenty of imitations going around but nothing beats the real thing.

Check out Launcher Pro Plus, the bookmarks, calander & people widgets work & function just like the sense ones! There are more coming to such as clock, weather, messages, friend stream

Well sese widgets would be awesome, thats a reason i want sense
we all know htc sense. slow, clunky, sense. everyone wants the best out of their phone, but there is something that is just so appealing about sense that stops our fingers over those barebone scripts. that thing is..... the widgets!!
htc's widgets are the simplest, best, and most innovative. they are the only thing keeping me (and a bunch of other people) from switching to non-sense roms or at least running a barebone script. i love my simple, nice, smooth sense widgets. my question is, what locks widgets to a specific launcher? how easy or difficult would it be to break this tie? why has no dev tried this before (or has one?)? anybody with answers please comment.
asking widget devs might be the first place to start. anybody have any other ideas?

I believe the reason why nobody has done it is because of copyrights, HTC made beautiful widget take their widget down from the market because it was there flip clock (same thing with fancy widget ) and I believe that's why they don't mess with it just like you can't find swype apk in the forums, so I double a developer would do that to get in trouble , roms and rooting are ptacticly legal so not problem there

i never thought of it that way. how is rooting and roms legal but a simple porting of widgets not? it would still be on the evo, for which it was intended right? if a non-sense dev put a few widgets into his rom, i would use it for sure. still sense right? either way, do you have any idea on what the process might be?

It can be done. Ethics and legality come into play. I beleve it is called reverse engeneering or reengineering, which is not techniccly illegal, but htc removes the right to reverse engineer/reengineer. Its in the copywright.

Thanks for the info. I will do a google search later. With legality, i don't plan on sharing it, so copyrights won't be a problem. With ethnics, i just want to get the most out of my phone. I cant find a task or notes widget anywhere close to the htc one. If htc has a problem, or even a way to find out, if I am using stock widgets on a different launcher, i will delete them. I googled and can't find anything helpful anyways so I guess I will just stick with clunky old sense.
Check out LauncherPro Plus. Fede, the developer, has added a number of Sense-like widgets to the Plus version and has promised to add more. So far he has released a Facebook widget, Twitter, a Friendstream-like widget, Bookmarks, MMS, and Contacts.
No RSS widget or email yet but I am crossing my fingers.
I'm always afraid to make new threads on the lovely XDA forums because most of the time an issue has already been brought up etc... I didn't find anything on this specific question so yup.
I want to use ADW but use the Launcherpro widgets. I've looked into editing the apk's but I am not capable of doing so mainly because I would have no idea what I am doing, I've changed some skins and icons around on some apps before but this just seems way too advanced for me to attempt. Anyone know of anyway this might be possible? Ideally I wouldn't even want the entire launcherpro launcher on my phone just the widgets, so yeah, that is my question.

The only thing I havent been able to find is a decent bookmarks widget.
First, I must preface this by apologizing about this post not being in a more relevant forum topic. I am barred from posting in the dev section until I reach 8 posts. I also have checked relevant links and tried searching about this, but if I failed at my searches, again I apologize.
So I flashed the Revolution 4g rom and really like it. The only thing I would like to change about it is the launcher/ADW (not sure what to call the bar with the phone button and such) to that of the no-sense rom. However, I would like to keep all the HTC sense widgets and apps. Is there a way to replace that feature using the rom cleaner found on that post? Is there a different solution to this problem?
Have you tried Launcher Pro? DL/install it and see if it does what you're wanting. If it doesn't, no harm no foul, just uninstall.

I just did, and it doesn't accomplish what I would like it to do. I'm looking for something that will replace the default launcher on the HTC home. This gives me an option and after choosing the launcherpro, I'm left without the widget from the HTC sense. Thank you for the suggestion and quick reply, though.

You mean they're gone, or they weren't where they were with the old launcher? You'll have to re-setup all your screens with the new launcher, but I thin sense widgets should still work.
What I meant was the HTC widgets aren't gone, I just can't choose them with launcherpro and I can't afford to pay for the plus version to unlock the launcherpro widgets.

Finally i make it. Try to overclock on sense 3.5 and my lovely sensation was going
in a endless shut down and reboot, shut down and reboot.
Lucky, i have made a back up of it...
but... for me was the right time to check out the "cyanogenmod" rom.
I have to say: this endless boot thing was the best wath happens to my sensation. i love it.
the only thing i dont like is the gallery from launcher pro.

and I don't think so, cause most sense stuff need the sense framework itself. Might be wrong though.
u cant cuz cm7 is asop and the gallery u want work with sense only.... i asked this question before in the mytouch 4g thread, thats the answer i got and its pretty much makes sense! yea i hate the asop gallery also i feel your pain!

But why? Isn't cm7 gallery 3d? I can find a 2d gallery for you but I'm not sure if it works. Its from my g1.

Thanx for echo. and the second: i like quick performance. i dont need 3D animations and some wheird window animations.(sense 3.0 gallery was the best)animations re all disabled. minimalistic as possible. i need speed for my pearl. wanna work with my phone not play. animations and enabled graphical features need resources and i need the resources for my self.
