while flashing firmware with odin,
is it always mandatory to use the pit-file in the updating-process, or can you just put the appropriate file in pda and continue? the rom being updated is 2.1 just to never one (jm2->jm9).
thanks!

hello, i want to flash newest TWRP recovery: openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-p4notewifi.tar, by odin, do i put it on PDA or PHONE? thanks
and is it okay to use Odin3 v.3.07?
i own n8010 wifi version
You just follow the instructions .
TAR is the format and what box depends upon what the file actually is .
Phone is Modem
PDA is where you put firmware files or root files .
okay so my Samsung tab3 lite was rooted but I did something and now it is stuck in CWM-based Recovery v6.0.4.8 and I have the basic android ROM downloaded on my computer and not sure how to fix this problem Is it possible for me to put the ROM on my sd card then install zip on my tablet? I have tired odin but it can never find my ROM
Any help would be amazing!
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. You are on the right track to Odin the stock firmware to get your device working again. But you need the stock firmware, not a rom zip. If you've downloaded the stock firmware it does download in a zip format but you need to extract that so you end up with a .tar.md5 file. Use that in Odin. Also see this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-3. It's the forum for the tab 3 and does have some information for the lite version.

I have downloaded the firmware but odin does not see the firmware at all not sure what I am doing wrong but could I put the firmware on my sd card then put it in my tablet and install zip?
Have you extracted the firmware zip? Use winrar or 7-zip. You need to use a .tar.md5 file in Odin. That's what you'll get if you extract the stock firmware .zip. Use that in the PDA or AP slot in Odin, depending on what version of Odin you're using. See this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...08-2013-odin-3-09-odin-1-85-versions-t2189539

I got the md5 file and got it in odin and clicked start and then a couple minutes later it said failed and now my tablet only says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & Try again" so I went to kies and went to Emergency Firmware Recovery tab under tools but it can not find my device
OK, XDA Assist is a forum to point you in the right direction and not to solve your issue. So I'd ask here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-3/help. But use the usb ports in the back of your computer, 2.0 and not 3.0, and try different usb cables. Odin can be finicky.
Hi all,
I mistakenly put the wrong modem on my phone (Galaxy S5 SM-G900T). I was trying to do a USB-based sim unlock, after installing a new logic board, which had Android 5.0 installed. I had previously done the same steps on my old (broken) logic board, but at the time, that had Android 6.0 installed. The steps included updating the modem file on the phone using Odin, so that it could talk to the SIM-unlocking sofware. (The custom modem came packaged in a TAR file).
So now my Android 5.0 phone has a modem that was presumably for Android 6.0. It doesn't reliably connect to my computer using USB when not in download mode. I can put it into download mode, but I'm trying to figure out how to re-install the original stock Android 5.0 modem.
Here's what I've tried:
Downloaded a new stock Android 5.0 ROM for my phone. I searched SamMobile for my model number (SM-G900T). I got it from sammobile. Forums won't allow me to post the URL, but the full filename was G900TUVU1DOB1_G900TTMB1DOB1_G900TUVU1DOB1_HOME.tar.md5.
Extracted the rom on my computer using tar.
Found the modem.bin file that was extracted.
Used tar to wrap modem.bin in a new file called G900T50Original.tar
Used Odin to put the G900T50Original.tar onto my phone (by selecting it in the CP section).
I tried these steps, but it just timed-out, and I had to unplug and restart my phone.
Did I miss a step here? Is there a specific way that the TAR has to be packaged for it to work?
Thanks in advance,
Antun

This should help you figure it out.

Thanks. Actually, after writing my post, I decided to try uploading just the raw modem.bin file via Odin, and it worked. (i.e. without tarballing it up). My baseband now shows the stock Android 5.0 one (
I'm not sure what I was doing differently than the instructions you posted. I didn't specify the ustar format, so maybe that was it. (I just did tar -cvf modem.bin > myfile.tar).

So, I am on CRAP firmware flashed, with the guide here on XDA. Now I see that there is a firmware named CRB7. I downloaded the firmware from Sammobile and tried to flash it with latest Odin but it stuck in Setup Connection. What I did wrong?
hello guys!
I have a SM-G950FD (ZTO) rooted by magisk and TWRP recovery.
I need to perform updates by flash a zip or donwload via odin.
The problem is: when I try to update a firmware downloaded on Sammobile (tar.md5) via Odin it changes my recovery causing to lose all data.
This happen because on firmware that I donwload on Sammobile have a stock recovey included. Otherwise, if I use HOME_CSC will also cause lose data because of change on recovery.
I try a lot of things like, remove recovery file from the tar.md5, also try use Abyssal Kitchen, but I can't have sucess.
I ask for help plz! I just need upgrade my firmware without lose data by flash a update.zip or donwload a .tar via Odin using a firmware that I donwload from Sammobile.
Kind regards!
