Is there such a keyboard? A keyboard that when you swype it's swype but when you peck it's HTC IME? There's times I want HTC ime, but then I want Swype for a second or two... argg I'm getting sick of virtual keyboards!
Edit: Since a few people haven't understood me I'm going to add a disclaimer. I know that you can peck with the Swype keyboard. Pecking on Swype is horrible. It's obviously not what the application was written for. The HTC IME keyboard is very good at taking user imput while pecking. However the HTC IME keyboard can't Swype. My question was is there a keyboard with Swype and good pecking like from the HTC IME keyboard?
Yes... it's called Swype. Tap when you want to, swype when you want to.
Look for a HTC themed skin for swipe, problem solved.

It's not the look of Swype that I'm seeking. It's the functionality of the two keyboards combined that I want. The functionality of the HTC IME keyboard for pecking is very good. The pecking on the Swype keyboard is horrible. You guys don't understand what I meant.
I think that Ultra Keyboard is what you're looking for. It has the best of both worlds.

there is an app posting somewhere in the apps and games thread that you can pick a keyboard based on the orientation of the phone, for example landscape can be htc and portrait can be swype, this is the closest you're gonna get at this time if you wish to have those 2 keyboards

This. UltraKeyboard does both. I use a gesture to turn the tracing on/off.

Hi everyone,
I'm locking for the keyboard that is on the stock HTC HD Mini Rom. HTC made an update of the keyboard and i'm very interested in the keyboard in the HTC HD Mini for my HTC HD2. If anyone can help me to found a cab for installing it, it would be great !
Thank you for your support,
Lorhdak.
What is different from the hd2 keyboard ?
Much more precise and bigger because there is no more the arrow at the bottom.

Or you can go for Nikoan89 ezinput 2.1. Thats the older version of the kb for devices with smaller screens. Its rather cool and the arrowz can be activated when needed..

Yeah I tried that but it seems to break my HTC messaging, had to uninstall it. I would like a keyboard without the arrows though, especially in landscape.
Swype doesn't have the arrows, and it can be used just like the stock one, OR you can actually "swype" each key like your supposed too
How to use Swype like the stock one ? When we don't swype and type fast it swype everything lol^^

I agree thats why I really dont like bothering with Swype personally and stick with the stock HTC and the good predictive Text.

I remember this keyboard and trying it with my Touch Pro2 and haven't bothered even trying with the HD2 because I love the HTC Messaging Client. I do however love the arrows on the keyboard but would like the option to disable them when wanted and it would be really nice to see the option to minimize it easily like Android.
As far as the HD Mini, I would love to see the Notification Bar/ Screen ported for us because it has the task manger built into it as well and I would love to see that as well as the plain black theme for 6.5.X.
I was wondering if anyone had installed the stock android keyboard on their MT4G successfully?
I installed a custom HTC keyboard from gimpsta.com, but after selecting it as my keyboard in Settings, I still get the swype keyboard.

Long press on a text input field, e.g. browser field, message body field, email body field, etc, select "INPUT," then chose the keyboard of your liking. The Touch Input keyboard is HTC's, though, not default Android.
D'oh!
Thank you!! Works perfect.
The keyboard I am using is the HTC IME with a customized skin from gimpsta.com.
Works perfect. I like having my number keys all in a row, also mic input now an option and smiley emoticon button is there.

I just want the normal swype keyboard that had the microphone and similies button. How did you go about getting it?
Hi,
When you press the SEARCH key, and typing in the text field ...
Does the keyboard give you text prediction?
And also when you search in the Market app ...
If not, is possible to enable text prediction on all input fields?
Thanks.
Negative on the text prediction for search. I get text prediction in the form of app suggestions on the market, but I don't know if that's quite what you're looking for.
As far as enabling it, I have no idea. I don't recall if any of my past Android devices did text prediction on search. :/

Take a look at SwiftKey. Text prediction is one of the reasons that my wife and I moved to it. We like this keyboard much better than stock, for us it was well worth the money.
This is common for several fields in several different apps. I work for Swype, so I've seen this myself, but since our keyboard doesn't typically work this way it's only been a curiosity for me. I believe it is considered a "feature" since you might want to explicitly type something else other than what prediction guesses. If you want to give Swype a try, the beta is currently open at: http://beta.swype.com/
Hi there,
Thanks for your info. I still find it odd, to not have this common behavior on all input fields.
Heck, the old HTC_IME hack on HTC Desire works pretty well with all the options to have prediction in all kind of input fields (thanks to the modder, jonasl). I still have this on my signature below.
But recently, I like the new Nexus S keyboard. It look slick, easy to type. But yeah, I missed some of the HTC_IME improvements, like SMILEY button!
As for SWYPE, granted, it is a very nice keyboard. But, I don't use ENGLISH that much I am using south-east asian language which is not supported
So, I am afraid that it does not offer much advantage.

The built in Gingerbread keyboard does have a smiley button. It's a "smart" keyboard, it knows what you're doing and shows you the appropriate keys/features/functions.
Go write a txt message, and you'll see a smiley key on the bottom right.
They should've taken out the period and extended the space bar. Its very frustrating when I'm trying to type fast. IPhone still had the best touch keyboard available

Thanks, I did not know that.
Obviously because I am using Nexus S keyboard on my HTC Desire! Probably it does not work fully as designed (I did not see that smiley button).
But, does that smiley button also appear when you type in EMAIL or TEXT AREA like replying to forum like this using the web browser?
Or when typing comments on Facebook app! That would be very nice.

I only see it in the Messaging app.
Just FYI, Swype works just fine on the HTC Sensation and is still the best/fastest keyboard for any device (IMHO).

Disregard.
I've registered with two different emails and I've requested to have the activation resent but they don't send anything. I've checked my junk mail. Does anyone have the actual apk or am I stuck?

Just be patient, when I first registered it took a few days to get it.
Alright, I just want it so bad. I'm so used to it. Thanks.
What's the difference between Swype and Trace which is already on the sense keyboard? Also, can you use a standard phone keyboard with Swype? I've been using the standard phone keyboard in portrait, but when I turn the phone to landscape to bring up the full keyboard, the trace function is missing. It only works when the portrait keyboard is set to full keyboard.
got it.
still puzzles me why HTC decided not to load Swype on the Sensation and come up with their own...
anyway, what is up with the part of the agreement saying it can/may read your passwords, credit card info, ect?
edit: never mind... didn't realize it's a standard Android message for non market typing app... doh! lol

One sucks and one doesn't lol (j/k). Swype has been around a while been adjusted and tweaked based on feedback of millions of users. Trace, while a nice attempt by HTC to add the same functionality doesn't come close

Hi,
I'm using swype...
But it does not have arrow keys that needs for if correction is to be done easily...
Touchpal is way different because of less on keys symbols...
Go keyboard has no additional dictionary (my words for swype) support...
Anyone can suggest me any other slide keyboard with arrow keys and dictionary support...
Thanks in advance...
Touchpal and slide it keyboard are good swype alternatives with many features
but theres nothing quite as good as swype
Ya, that is what I'm saying...
Only the problem is swype has no arrow keys
...
Personally I don't like swype or sliding concept cause our screens are quite small.
I use swiftkey.it's the best for me and has great auto correct engine

So much ram consumption as well as rom consumption...
If I'm wrong with the app updates,
Please tell me,
I would love to give it another chance...
And ya, our screen is a little bit small...
Please reply

Otherwise, I love it...
