hard reset your phone before and after flashing it sometimes work and before rooting let all the process load before you install app or root your phone.
Patience is a virtue. In an over complicated world thats what we need to survive.

I updated to I5800XXJP9 from stoc firmware (phone bought in Romania) and i have an issue with the WI-FI is stops sometimes and i can't turn it on from the drawer, when i go into settings-wireles-wi-fi settings the wi-fi is turned off and below it says error. When i click it, it turns on and connects to the router.
Also the GPS not working...
I tried this"
"Dail: *#*#3214789650#*#* --> settings --> Parameter Settings --> SSL --> I disabled it and changed it to Google Server. After that I changed Start mode to "Cold Start" and restarted the device.
Again dialed *#*#3214789650#*#* --> Commands --> Get positions, and wait 30 sec for an fix.
Back to settings --> Parameter Settings --> Start mode --> and changed it back to Hot Start. Restart device again."
when i click get positions it finds 2-3 sattelites but nothing happens after... in google maps or iGO.

Hello!
I have I5800 and flashed this firmware (jp9) yesterday. Before it was jp8 wih some bugs (SMS reply problem, wifi turn off randomly problem etc.).
With jp9 is working all normaly!!
I think for correct flashing and working you must follow this steps:
1. Before flashing boot into rescue mode and make wipe cache partition and wipe user datas
2. Flash the phone with ODIN as is writtenin other topic.
3. After flash in the rescue mode wipe the cache and datas again.
4. After first boot dont use other utils to rooting than SuperOneClick 1.5.5 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=437039&d=1289271263. Whit this tha cracking is simple and quick. Dont forget after restart your phone.
5. now you can begin of using your froyo.
The gps is working perfectly after fixing the gps.conf file located in /system/etc. You must set the NTP_SERVER=yourcounty.pool.ntp.org line wih your country. Here in Hungary the correct server is hu.pool.ntp.org
You can find your right address here: http://support.ntp.org/bin/view/Servers/NTPPoolServers
Best regards: Peter

To the ones that already have froyo installed:
Is it worth it?
Does the phone feels faster? more responsive?
the problematic games are working now? (i.e. : raging thunder 1&2)
Greetings

Hello!
Yes its faster. Ther are some new feature (until call is in progress the top bar color its green etc.)
R.Thunder 1 is runing. 2 is also running but this phone doesnt has 3D support so ther is no texture only white shapes.
Best regards: Peter

Ahh i have also a question! There is a thing with apps instaled to sd card. If you put desktop icon to apps on sd after rebooting the icon disapear.
How can i fix it?
Best regardseter

Hi Kenblat,
I think you have to hold down "volume+ and volume-" together, + home + power.
I have an sim unlocked and rooted Orange I5801, and just waiting for the right feedback from brave souls like yourself, before Flashing to Froyo. Apart from the inability to view flash web pages, I am content at present.
Good Luck!

Thanks i will try your combination then... now my phone run very smoothly @ JP9. Last time my phone stuck @ boot screen, must back to ODIN download mode re flash 2.1 - using the most likely compare to my origin firmware so my phone return => so i keen on JP9 by factory reset @ 2.1 and redo JP9 flash using ODIN => when done my phone auto reboot to recovery => i just need to reboot no need wipe anything else and my phone working good @ JP9 for an hour now.
Ah my process without sim and sdcard, until make sure my phone stable so put those back on
Issue: i can not check IMEI @ phone status but still can check using *#06# so i think it's OK, at least you can reflash to 2.1 and IMEI show up again @ phone status for sure (at least in my case before the last flash to JP9)
Will test GPS and report later.
Phone very smooth, apps automatically transfer to sd... my signal is normal not Zero as some guys report... wifi OK - not enough time for make sure that connection is stable or not.
youtube now perfect with new version and no A/V lag anymore even using HQ, i5800 ROCK!!!!
angrybirds 1.4.2 and seasons working great!
That's all for now, see ya guys later.
TIA for all the help

Now the phone froze twice while installing apps from the market.

BEWARE of Market Fix
My GPS is working by using those codes, it took me 3 days to make it.
Also wifi works fine, but you must check "do not switch off" in advanced wifi settings.
BUT do not install Market FIX with this firmware. You will need to reinstall your sami

[Q] Galaxy s2 no service after factory reset

Hi all,
I bought the GS2 two weeks ago, did nothing but rooting it, stayed with the original gingerbread OS.
A few days ago i noticed i had no reception, i tried turning airplane mode on, and then off (to restart the connection), but the phone got stuck in airplane mode.
I restarted the phone a couple of times, but it didn't work - still was stuck in airplane mode. I eventually decided to factory reset it.
After doing this the phone was not in airplane mode anymore, but it had no service (a circle with a cross line is appearing in the top right corner).
The really strange thing is that i have no imei number, no wifi or BT mac (when entering the 'about' section in the settings menu).
It looks like the phone still thinks it stuck in flight mode.
I tried looking in the efs dir, and noticed that the files nv_data.bin, nv_core.bin, their md5's and the nv_state files, all were renamed (now starting with a dot, hidden files).
I tried removing the dots from the beginning of the file names, I tried reinstalling the original ROM... nothing helps. I have no backup of the efs dir, before the problem appeared.
I don't know how really flight mode works, but it looks like the process handling it got stuck while entering flight mode, leaving the files in this strange state. Maybe there is a 'flight mode flag' in one of the files, telling the phone it is not allowed to access the files regarding the imei, wifi and BT identifiers.
It is worth mentioning that when i start using the wifi, the wifi mac updates and appears - the same would have happened if the phone was in airplane mode.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
sami
Sorry I don't know but I have *exactly* the same problem and symptoms starting on 7th Aug after 3 months of use. I didn't even root. You're not alone. I think it needs to go back to the shop.
I have the exact same problem. Did anyone find a solution to this?
Never heard about this problem before, but I have a couple of suggestions:
1. Try to power off the phone, remove the SIM card and battery, wait for a minute, insert them and power on the phone.
2. Try to wipe cache and dalvik cache.
3. Try to install a different ROM with full wipe.
Mobile Network Unavaible
Good evening friends!
I am facing a strange problem with my Galaxy S II. Last night I was using the Rom Criskello, and everything was working fine. So I decided to make a backup and install other roms just to test. I installed the rom and my device Miui NDT was unsigned, I ended up doing strange and full wipe to install the ROM GalnetMiui. But I opted to return to the Criskello Rom. This morning I realized that my phone does not make calls and even shows that the data is active, but strangely, the signal is full.
Reinstall the original rom Retail Brazil and yet when I try to make calls I get Mobile Network Unavailable ...
My simcard is old, I'll buy a new one for testing. Someone tell me if this is normal?
galaxy s2 no service
Hi all,
I had a similar problem, while using Skype I suddenly got the dreaded no service indicator.. Took phone to Samsung and they said to check if it was maybe barred from the network which it wasn't.. I was about to take it back to the shop I bought it from, then decided to remove my google account but the phone forced me to do a factory data reset, under settings -> Privacy.
I did this and then...... Happy days all was fine again )
I think it was the skype application that caused the problem but will confirm this...
Life is good again!
Hope this helps...
i having the same problem, after reboot I'm having respiration but only emergency call
it's started as i flash Lp1 modem, in the Base.b it's said Unknown, but after it i flashed KP4 and everything act normal
so i really don't know!!!
i thoght this is something in my modem F.w LP1 so i went back to factory KI4
didn't help.
changed my rom from CM9 to Checkrom v4 didn't help.
factory rest didn't do much.
i found by mistake that if i am using the sim card on different phone make a sort
phone call and putting back the sim card to SG2. only this my letting my take phone call.
I'm hopping may be some one will read my temporary solution, and will help as to find the right solution .
...
restoring the oldest CMW and EFS restore manually didn't do much
i will keep looking, please if someone got a clue ...
Thank you for all
i will keep on going till i will find a solution.
i believe that the main issue is that if i didn't delete /efs all the restoring didn't really restore this folder.
this is very risky, do a good backup with EFS-PRO
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1308546
it's all started because ididn't do a good backup!!!
pinkman, have any progress?
My solution
got the same ishue on my phone you just need to do a efs restore.
there is an app on the marketplace for that
XXXmarket.android.XXXcom/details?id=net.hellcat.droiddev.ktoolXXX
(remove the XXX)
hope it helps it took me 3 days to find it and get he phone signal back
when you get the app:
press the: backup EFS to /sdcard/efs.img
then click yes verify
next run the check
press the close button
then click on the restore efs from backup(red button)
press the restore img button
press red button again
press the restore tar button
then click on the purple reboot button
and your good to go
you might night to restart after the reboot for the phone's signal to register with the carrier
your phone should be rooted btw
anyway hope this helps everyone, i know it saved me a $400 factory repair bill
good luck

Problems rooting Samsung Galaxy GT-B5510

Hi guys,
I ask for your help after having tried everything was in my possibilities.
I recently bought a Galaxy GT-B1150 and I wanted to root it. I tried everything :
1. Superoneclick
2.Z4root
3.Unlock Root
4.Sgtool
5.to put a .zip folder in the SD and to enter in recovery
It was useless. I have all the possible drivers on my windows 7, although 1,2,3 and 4 didn't work.
1 freezes at #7;
2 just doesn't do anything
4 "smart card error 0x89"
5 I feel idiot, but I seriously can't do the recovery mode. I push power+home+volume up but the best result I achieve is a reboot.
It's been 3 days since I started trying, now I just don't know hat to do.
Thanks for any help!
U've written the model no. incorrectly..got me confused.
Anyway i'll see what i can find.
It's seems like the usual update.zip rooting works. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1431696
U should be able to boot into recovery.
The model is GT-B5510, sorry.
I swear I tried thousands times to boot into recovery, I just can't!
I even watched a video and a picture of the procedure, but it doesn't work. It's so simple that it seems impossible to me to be so dumb. It's three keys pressed simultaneously: that's what I do. I don't really know what to think.
Tell me what exactly happens when u try to enter recovery mode.
What do u see on the screen?
When the phone is off and I press the 3 keys, the phone turns on and the screen view with "samsung galaxy GT-B5510" written on, appears. If I hold them, after few seconds, the "galaxy GT..." text disappear and the phone just reboots. If I release them, the phone starts normally.
Weird.
Try various other key combination if ur bored, there should be one for download mode but it's not useful in this scenario.
I came across a very similar case the other day but on a different phone, he resolved it by rooting with superoneclick(beware of the various versions) .
Maybe googling on the superoneclick error might get u somewhere.
Maybe..maybe the new phones shipped with 2.3.6 have the recovery mode disabled/blocked(seems unlikely) but i've not been able to confirm this.
---------- Post added at 05:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:14 PM ----------
Also, is ur phone Y Pro or Y TXT?
Which country are u frm?
I uploaded the video to show you better.
It's been 3 days since I started trying. I googled everything I could, I tried to resolve every problem with each method.
The only way left is the recovery, so I will try different combinations.
It's Y PRO.
I'm from Italy.
Tried soe combinations...useless. Is there something else I can do?
Well it can be frustrating at times...try holding down the keys like forever, even after it reboots..maybe next time it'll boot into recovery instead of android.
Have u come across any alternate firmwares, either stock or custom that u could flash?
U have no problem entering download mode right?
Well, I'm not very into Android, it's the first time I use it. That means I didn't understand a word of your second sentence.
Ah, I don't even know how to enter in download mode.
Thank you for helping me, really!
Firmwares are the files which u can flash on ur phone which gives u a fully working operating system.
Flashing = Installing
Stock firmware/rom = factory samsung firmwares
custom firmware/rom = 'custom' like cyanogenmod
I don't think there are any custom roms for y pro as of now on xda.
Seems download mode for pro is voldown+home+power
Use this site http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3 , u'll find all the firmware and guides on how to flash them.
U can also find it here http://www.tsar3000.com/Joomla/inde...0-b5512-galaxyypro&catid=57:how-to&Itemid=104
But i usually use sammobile.com
U can check ur current firmware version in the About Phone or by typing in some code like *1234# (i don't remember exactly)
Take your time, don't rush into it. U'll lose all ur data when u flash firmwares.
U don't have any necessity to change firmwares at this moment, but the more u know the better it is.
I'm still wondering why u can't get into recovery.
My firmware is GINGERBREAD 2.3.6
I have Kies, so my phone is fully updated: why should I download the firmware?
The download mode doesn't seem to start too.
This whole thing is crazy!!!
Besides, my phone's memory is getting full, so I really need to move everything to the SD (the apps are already there)!
C'mon download mode has to work..else it's almost useless.
Even when updating with kies the phone goes into download mode during the process.
I was just thinking if u could flash to a previous firmware version maybe u could get into recovery..just a thought.
2.3.6 is the android version, u should also see something like B5510ITVLB1 or B5510ITVLF1
As for memory, rooting is the best way to move all the apps to sd...but there are some applications on market which can move certain apps, not all to sd without root.
There is a galaxy y forum here http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1469 maybe the folks there can help u more.
My firmware version is B5510XXKK2.
Installing a previous firmware should be my last chance, since it deletes everything. :'(
I'll try on that forum too.
same problem here
Hello,
I know this is a old threat but I have the same problem and I am from the Netherlands..
I've bought this phone with a screenlock password and the previous owner don't not know him anymore
I cannot enter recovery and downloade mode..
I tried evrything i could think of. The Phone is simlocked. Don't know if that is the problem?

Press volumen down, then Home, then Power.
In above 5 or 6 seconds you will see the Samsung banner, then release all the keys at the same time.
Almost instantaneously you will see a very different menu, and then finally you have to press (as indicated in the screen) the volume up key.
Now you are in download mode, and you can plug the usb cable to connect the mobile to a computer with Odin and then flash the ROM (for instance).
Cheers.

Same problem - tried everything - can go into download mode - what next?
Hi, I have the same problem. My phone got blocked because my mother tried the pattern too many times. The phone won't accept my gmail login and password (even though it is correct). I've tried a hard factory reset (volume up, home, off) but it doesn't work. I can get in to download mode by pressing volume down, home and off-button but I have no idea what I need to do next. Any advice anyone?

Hi there.
If you read spanish, you can take some ideas from my site:
https://wiki.legido.com/doku.php?id=android:gt-b5510
Summary:
1. Get a GNU/Linux machine (you can build a Virtual Machine on top of Virtualbox for instance)
2. Get SplitFUS2
https://wiki.legido.com/doku.php?id=android:gt-b5510#splitfus2
3. Download a ROM file:
http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-B5510
4. Uncompress it and generate the required files:
Example:
./splitfus2 -w -s S6102DXMA2_S6102OLBMA1_S6102DXMA2_HOME.tar.md5
5. Get a Window$ machine
6. Download Odin on this machine:
https://wiki.legido.com/doku.php?id=android:gt-b5510#odin
7. Plug the mobile on download mode to the windows machine through a USB cable
8. Pass the files obtained on step 4 to the Window$ machine
9. Upload new firmware with Odin to the mobile
I hope that this summary helps you.

Still having Tab2 woes

I have an earlier thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2107600 but that is now buried on page 2 and might be missed by new readers. After a disastrous time trying to root my Galaxy Tab 5100 I did manage with the help of people here to flash the recommended stock ROM - however while the tablet goes through its boot sequenece with the aminated Samsung sign - it sticks when it gets to the plain Samsung logo and wont go further.
Odin reported that it installed OK and the tab rebooted as it should but only this far - not sure what I should try next to get my stock Samsung image back and working. One thing I didn't do was to tick repartition because the instructions only said to do this when a certain type of file was included in the package, and it wasn't. Should I have ticked this after all, if so I can try the same thing again if I can force it back into download mode again. (though as the yellow pane still shows in odin when connected I wonder if I can just go ahead anyway)
I have also been looking for rooting software and came across this
http://root-android.org/?version=Tablet&country=Samsung&ios=Galaxy+Tab+2&submit.x=63&submit.y=104
I am wondering if next time (assuming I ever get it working!) I would be better shelling out $30 and getting software to do it all for me - is this any good? has anyone used it or had reports about it? I wish I had seen this before I read "that it was almost impossible to brick the tab 2"
Also I would like to have root access on my S3 as well but wouldn't dream of risking this I don't think now

Have you tried a factory reset from recovery? If you've restored the stock ROM, then all you need to do is the factory reset to get things working again. Don't repartition unless you really need to.

I can't see any reason you should spend that kind of money given how easy the CF-AutoRoot is. In fact, that product looks very shady to me. "Root Any Android Device"? Well, there's lots of devices out there that nobody's been able to root, or devices that take a lot of work. I can't believe there's a single app that'll work across every Android device with a single click.
Be careful, which stock ROM have you flashed? I would use this sequence
flash the stock ROM
then immediately
flash CWM recovery, use CWM recovery to wipe the data (wipe data/factory reset).
Then reboot
CWM ?

Well I followed one of the posted routes on this forum, downloading from a list of recommended files for each version, and it mentioned nothing about CWM which I know nothing about. I have to say that everyone's definition of "easy" on here - I find complicated and difficult - I know my way around windows but android seems much more complex. The only reason I wanted to have root in the first place was to be able to make a complete image back up that would make it easy to restore my device without having to re-download all my software and set up. I do it with windows all the time. To me "easy" is, download and install something - click go - done! Even getting the device to go into download mode in the first place is a very hit and miss affair (as others say on here too) clearly Samsung don't want you to do this.
The other problem is that while the tablet is in this state it wont turn off, just reboots itself when you do and the screen stays on - so unless you leave it plugged in 24/7 - I start each time with a flat battery that I have to recharge before I can try something else
This is the route I followed

I got this through earlier posts - the only thing I didn't do was to go into recovery and reset in step 2 because this simply wasn't possible - the device was stuck on the error message and no amount of button pressing did anything other than restart to the same screen. By this stage I couldn't even go back to check what version of android I was running - it would have been the latest jelly bean distributed to UK.
I also didn't check re-partition as in 6. because there was no pit file in the download

Help please - this is where I am at the moment - some SIMPLE help needed please
I tried to install what I thought was the stock ROM - it appeared to install but wouldnt boot past the samsung screen. I now realise (a) that I may not have followed the full correct procedure and (b) may have downloaded the 5110 rom instead of the 5100 rom - silly mistake I know.
However reading all the guides I can find there doesnt seem to be a simple way I can find of restoring the standard un-rooted rom so that I can go back and try again. All of the things I can find seem to included downloading something onto the external card but cant do that as I cannot access it and don't have an external card reader.
What I can do now is
boot into download mode
connect to ODIN and see the yellow block
It will not boot normally past the samsung splash screen
and cannot connect to KIES in any mode (I do have the drivers installed and have connected before)
I also have no idea now what is installed on it because I cant get to the system to see!
Is there an easy way to install a stock samsung rom from this point? I don't mind if data is lost, I have nothing important on there and wouldnt mind re-installing apps as I had accumulated far too many anway - really I just want to get my tablet back the way it was from the factory but with the 4.2 jelly bean installed (though if it went back to an earlier version and I could update in Kies that would be ok too)
Can anyone give me simple instructions for doing this using just ODIN and my computer without involving the external card - please.
After that I will be looking for an equally easy way to root it again
I will credit you with a good answer if you can help -as well as appreciating it.

What you need to do is to download the stock ROM for your 5100.
Go to www.samfirmware.com and put "GT-5100" into the search box. You'll see a list of the stock firmware for your device. Pick the appropriate firmware for your country and click "download".
Start up ODIN. Click on the "PDA" button and open the firmware file you downloaded above.
Restart in downloader mode (power and volume up), and connect the tablet to your PC. ODIN should now show the device.
Make sure repartition is not checked, and click on "Start". When it finishes, you now have stock firmware installed.
Power off, then restart in recovery mode. (Hold power and volume down.)
Choose "wipe data/factory reset" by using the volume keys to move the highlight, then pressing the power button to select an entry.
Once it's finished booting, you should be back to normal.
Thanks K1MU for this information which at least looks clear - the only problem I have is when I put in the model etc when I get to country it offers me only 3 choices
UK (BTU) GB (O2) or GB (vodafaone)
My phone was purchased from Amazon and is unlocked so I am worried if these might lock me to a carrier which I wouldn't want
I wonder if BTU is the unlocked one as it doesn't sound like any provider I know - but I am not sure
will post on their forum as well
I think I am getting more and more muddled by the minute (sign of old age I fear) I realise now that I have a p5110 - wifi only and not p5100 3g and wifi.
This means in all probablilty I downloaded the correct rom in the first place. As I had not done the factory reset afterwards so tried that - it appeared to work ok but when I restarted it just played the samsung tune and moving image - then went to "Samsung" and stuck there as it was before.
I am downloading the p5110 wifi only rom from Sam's site - awful download programme they use which doesn't accept paypal even to sign up for faster downloading - I will then try following exactly what you have suggested and keep my fingers crossed
thank you

Although I thought it had got nowhere after wipe restore - when I turned it back the next day I arrived at the start up guide - admitedly it was 4.0.3 and in Portugese but after exploring settings and working out what to click i got it back to uk english - it has now connected to kies ok and is currently downloading the latest firmware - thanks partcularly to the last poster and to all others who helped - I will go through and thank you others too,
Point is now - once I have jelly bean can I get root access easily -without installing another custom rom - ahh well tomorrows problem

Looks like you did it right so far! Try keeping your phone disconnected untill the last moment (after you press the start button) .
Then take the battery out of your phone wait 5 sec and put it back in. Hold the volume UP button while you connect it to your
computer (dont let go) (Also you should have already pressed the start button before this). If it starts to download you can let
go of the volume up. Tell me how it works for you :good:

I noticed that without 'nvitem.bin' ResearchDownload doesn't work. It gives error without this file. I used one random pac file and it started downloading but failed after FDL2 file. Particulars of my handset are given below:
Model - Callbar A1
Android - 2.3.5
Kernal Version – 2.6.35.7
Software version – 2.3.001.P1.12065
Hardware version – P1
CPU – SC6820 (1 Ghz.)
Screen – 3.5” HVGA
At the moment I ve lost both Fastboot and CWM Modes. Unfortunately I formatted boot partition and thereafter I lost both modes.

Could be that you have the wrong FDL files for you device. There is a simple solution to finding out which ones works for your phone.
Download this . Then try to flash FDL1 and a FDL2 and see if it works. If not go the to next FDL2 and so on until you find one that works.
Then use those.

I'm not sure about these specs as they don't go into enough depth for me to really see what phone you have. A build.prop will do if you
have a backup of it.

One of these are bound to work. Its a archive of nearly every FDL file avalible. I'm actually not quite sure what they do.
I think they must be some sort of preloader for the phone or something.
Also have you made a backup? Its very important.

I am new to Android. Flashed CWM. Phone rebooted. Then I went to CWM for backup. It refused to mount sdcard. I changed the card but same result. I flashed another CWM. Phone rebooted. Again went to CWM... it was working although inverted screen. As sdcard had low spaced. I again rebooted phone to take out my data from sdcard through PC. At that time I also uninstalled some apps. After making enough room on sdcard, I rebooted phone but it didn't.
Then I went into CWM mode and being noob formatted boot partition and Voila 'Phone is DEAD'. I ve boot image available with me which works a bit.... BUT how can I flash it again without fastboot mode. Its simply not powering up becuase all data for booting phone has lost due to formatting of boot partition.
Can you guide me how to flash boot.img on dead phone without fastboot mode??? Atleast it will give it some life... May be not fully working but atleast I can get Fastboot and CWM Modes.

Well flashing a boot image may not give it a cwm recovery because in spreadtrum recovery has its own img.
Also flashing this rom may not work for your phone because it could be a different phone. You can email me

I know there is 'Recovery' Partition in Android. The Stock Recovery has already been flashed by CWM Recovery. But What went wrong... I only formatted boot partition then why it stopped booting into CWM, if it has nothing to do with boot partition.

Boot back in to your recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache. Format system and then install your ROM. There are major differences between CM11 and CM7. When making big jumps like that it's always best to format system before installing a ROM.

In CWM select Wipe data/factory reset. This will wipe the cache, dalvik cache and a couple other partitions. Then go to Mounts and Storage and select Format System. That will format the system partition.
Now go back to CWM home screen and install your ROM.

Sent from my LG-P769 using Tapatalk
Hi,
May I ask for help here (instead of creating a new thread) ? I have the same problem: The device is booting loop at the LG screen. Bricked it when I wanted to save the ROM with ROM Manager.
I have no access to recovery mode, but Emergency mode does work (With and without battery).
I've followed multiple guides, including this one:
Most of you are stuck on a yellow screen with”Emergency mode!!” or the phone is not responding at all. You guys wanted a custom rom like Optimus Prime-v2 and let me tell you, this time it will work. Optimus One P500 comes with stock android 2.2 – V10a, V10b … and android 2.2.1 – V10n. They might be done for different regions depending upon the phone release and its popularity and definitely bug fixes and enhancements. To have Prime-v2 on your handset you will require V10a or V10b on your handset. Reason, V10n stock cannot be rooted easily. Rooting the handset is must if Prime-v2 is required on the device. Steps to install V10a, V10b series. I am using Windows 7 32-bit, 3 GB RAM laptop:
1. Clean your system first; get rid of LG PC suite and other stuff shown in Uninstall Program with vendor name as LG. Remove MSXML builts from the handset. Remove Nokia and other drivers if they are on system like Ovi suite etc. I also removed a lot of Microsoft runtime environments. Not sure about the reason but it worked for me.
2. LG usb device drivers, download the application B2CAppSetup.exe http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/client/app/B2CAppSetup.exe .
3. In the Menu Bar, click "Options & Help", and click "Country & Language". Select the appropriate Country & Language. I used India and select P500 from the list that popup after you change the country and region. It will download, install and save the drivers somewhere in C:\LGP500\USB_Driver, it will prompt to open the rar files, just click and install the exes seen in them.
4. Reboot the system.
5. Right click on Computer -> Properties -> Device Manager and see for three drivers – LG android usb modem, LGE serial usb port and LG composite USB device. Disable the modem driver and reboot once again.
6. Switch off the phone and press volume up + BACK button + POWER button. Phone should turn yellow with text “Emergency Mode!!” To switch it off you have to remove the battery (I know it hurts, but that’s the only way out here). Switch off and let’s continue with the setup.
7. To do the KDZ of system you will require the KDZ software updater, links keep going off and on internet. Try searching for “KDZ_FW_UPD_EN” or “KDZ_FW_UPD_EN.7z” in Google and download the software. It should be somewhere around 2.3 MB. To use it you will required some good version of WinZip or winrar again Google it and install the 7z archive utility.
8. Install msxml.msi as the manual or readme.txt says to do so.
9. To get the V10x Official ROM, you need to first determine the ROM of your choice. List of all firmware available for LG Optimus One P500 (list of codes) http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/ezlooks_model_list.jsp?model=LGP500 , search for your country (use IE it looks sexy in it), I looked out for IND/INDIA. Download link to the ROM is http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGP500/XXXXX/V10a_00/V10A_00.kdz where XXXX is code from list of codes. In my case it was: AINDBK. Save the file.
10. Prepare the handset by removing the SD card and boot it to emergency mode (some are already stuck on it so reading this post…: D) using the key combination stated above.
11. Connect to the PC and it should say, installing drivers’ blah… blah … your device is ready to use now.
12. Run the KDZ updater downloaded in step 7. Select 3GQCT in Type, DIAG in PhoneMode, and browse for ROM V10a in KDZ file and hit Launch Software update. Wait for somewhere around 5-10 minutes. It should say ===FINISHED=== in the log window of updater.
13. Handset will reboot, if not wait for another 5 minutes. Unplug from USB and try to switch it on.

My problem is that KDZ still doesn't find my phone after all these attempts - I uninstalled the device driver, then reinstalled it succesfully (B2CAppSetup.exe). I reboot, install msxml.msi, and start KDZ.
Next, I power my phone in Emergency phone, plug it, and it is detected for the first time by the computer. I do have LGE Android Platform Composite USB Device, listed in the Device Manager, as well as LGE Android Platform USB Modem.
Using KDZ, I select the "3GQCT" type, phone mode "DIAG", with the correct KDZ file I've downloaded earlier. Once I launch the software update, phone is not found.
I've tried several times, including desactivating the LG Modem from the Device Manager; unfortunately, when I disable it I need to reboot - I do reboot, but then the LGE Android Platform Composite USB Device is absent from the device manager, and isn't detected by Windows at all, until I fully reinstall the driver (...).
I really don't know what I'm doing wrong - note that I use a laptop with Windows 7 x64; I know laptops handle USB port in a different way than desktops.
Can you help please?
I must be SO close... =(
Thanks, I really appreciate it!

Hi,
May I ask for help here (instead of creating a new thread) ? I have the same problem: The device is booting loop at the LG screen. Bricked it when I wanted to save the ROM with ROM Manager.
I have no access to recovery mode, but Emergency mode does work (With and without battery).
I've followed multiple guides, including this one:
My problem is that KDZ still doesn't find my phone after all these attempts - I uninstalled the device driver, then reinstalled it succesfully (B2CAppSetup.exe). I reboot, install msxml.msi, and start KDZ.

First, serious word of advice. Stay away from ROM Manager. It does not handle this device correctly.
It sounds to me like you are not entering Emergency Mode correctly. Yes, the LG USB Modem must be disabled. Power off the device. Press the "Back + Volume Up + Power" buttons together until the device boots to Emergency Mode. Now connect device to you PC/laptop. This can also be done with the battery removed and the device off. Same method except no power button involved. Press the "Volume Up + Back" buttons while attaching your device to your data cable, assuming it's already attached to your PC/laptop.
The attachment I've posted is a stripped down version of the KDZ Updater. All you need to supply is the correct KDZ file for your phone. This one does not require any of LG's other crap software either.
Download to your PC. Extract to a folder of your choosing. Read the ReadMe.txt carefully and follow it's directions to the letter. I just used this to revive two ( 2 ) bricked P506's.
If you can boot to fastboot mode, there is a tool in my signature, Android Flash Recovery, that is designed to flash a recovery to a device with fastboot. So you have two options to restore, revive your device.

Hey, cheers !!
That was all I needed to do with this simple version, the update got applied properly, and I saw the FINISHED message.
My phone "rebooted". Well, what I see now if the Android logo with a big " ! ", which is normal according to what I've read.
I will do more ressearch to make sure what I do if correct now: is this safe to power off/reboot at this screen? I believe it's the last step.

Holding the power button does not shut it down - pull the battery, right (It won't screw the thing right before the end ? XD ) ?
Look.. correct:
12 - Start the phone again. If you get stuck in a screen with an Android and an exclamation mark ("!") in a triangle, just unplug the USB cable and the battery. Plug the battery again and start the phone. It will take 2 to 5 minutes to reboot for the first time and the boot animation will be the stock LG (your carrier's stock animation is lost for good), but chances are your phone is intact, with all it's apps and configurations working the same as before the incident. When the boot finishes, turn off the phone again and put back the SD Card you took off on the first step.

I really don't want to mess anything at this point.

If KDZ Updater says it's done and your device has rebooted to recovery, then yes you can pull the battery to shut it down. You may still need to do the key presses for a factory reset, but the key combo has slipped my mind for the moment. Old age...

Really nice, I have the Android logo !!
I will wait - people says it can take up to 5-15 minutes or even more - I won't shutdown on the logo.
Letting you know as soon as it's done.

After a while, the device booted, and I had a few messages saying it was restoring all the settings!
No data loss! Nothing (I had backed up my contacts and apps on my SD Card already - I was unsure if I would have loose my SMSs, I didn't) is lost !
Dude, seriously, thanks A BUNCH - this is ridiculous, I screwed the phone up at like 10PM yesterday, and did not went to sleep until 2AM because I couldn't fix the thing (I had access to FastBoot at first. I did a process to restore it from Fastboot, it should have worked properly, but then I only had access to the LG logo. Man, I thought I was toasted, and had to spend 50$ for a new phone, just because of a stupid mistake. Never would I thought that SAVING the ROM of my SD card would have screwed up the ROM!)...
I spent like 6 hours today trying to fix it, reinstalling the drivers over and over again... Installing a fresh new Windows XP on a machine, just so I could install everything on a new operating system to figure out the problem...
That was just plain crazy, seriously.
****BONUS****
The first thing I've noticed when I booted my phone was the BLACK notification bar
I really love black, and I once did ressearch a while ago to see if I could turn my white bar into black (I have Android 2.2.1), but no success.
I just realised I got it updated "accidentally" to Android 2.3, and so I was on Android 2.2. since 2011 (when I bought it) !
Well, nice addition, it is sexier with black
I belive it's because of the KDZ file I've used... I had a really hard time to find one, all the links were broken, from 2010, it's a old phone. I found the KDZ from Koodo, Canadian French, exactly my own.
Guess I "accidentally" upgraded to Android 2.3 then Nice addition !
I have no experience at all with fixing Android devices / ROM stuff - I'm used with Windows/Linux and others, but Android (although Android is a version of Linux) is another thing for me.
THANKS - seriously, I wouldn't have made it without your help.
YAY
